Hi guys,
I have the XDA Neo for a couple of days, I really love the device, and everything works fine (not counting the many hours until I finally got it to sync with my laptop), however one last thing remains to be done - to finally get on the internet using WiFi. I'm experiencing the following problem:
I can connect to the Access Point in my home, however, I can't open a single page, nor does Skype connect. The access point uses MAC-Filtering, but my MAC has been entered in the table and I do get a valid IP-adress. I'm not sure if it is the correct MAC though, but it should be, I took it form Settings->Connections->Wireless Lan *Second tab. When I open IE and enter a web page (google or anything) address it displays "searching" in the status bar, and after a while sais that the page cannot be opened. I tried the WLAN on campus at my university, and still can't get in, I know I need a vpn client, but without it I still should at least be redirected to an info page, as it happens with my laptop when vpn is not activated. On campus IE remains with "opening" in the status bar, but no page is displayed even after around 10 minutes of waiting...

So I'm wondering if it is something software, or could it be a hardware issue? Any help would be appreciated!

Greets,
Boyan

mmm.. well I can't say for sure what your problem is, but i can take an educated guess... maybe you set one of your connections to use a proxy? if i recall correctly when you want to use the o2 flat you have to set up a proxy, this may very well be the cause of your problem! you also might wanna try out to delete all connections you set up already...

please let me know if i pointed you in the right direction.

Hi Dater,
Thanx for the reply! There's no proxy set up on any of the connections I have tried, and I have tried deleting them numerous times, without change. The thing is, I do receive a valid IP adress, but never get any page opened... I use the same settings on my laptop, and can surf the net just fine..

Thanx anyways!

Boyan

Can you see the windows network and your other pc's? Use something like Resco file explorer to map a drive.

Problem solved ;). Actually Dater's post pointed me towards it, I'm not sure if he meant the same thing I did, but definelty got me thinking. The deal was that
Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->More and then Properties was set to o2Wap, changing it to ISP solved the problem. Anyways, it is fuctioning now, thanx a lot for the help :)

Cheers,
Boyan

Of course, that is exactly what I meant! ;)
I was just not able to properly express my thoughts since English is not my native tongue hehe... (that's always a good excuse!)

Bin auf jedenfall glücklich dir weitergeholfen haben zu können!

Have a wonderful day! :)

I suppose it was I who misunderstood what you said :). I thought that the proxy settings should be somewhere in Netzwerkkarten or Drahtlos, but they were somewhat, mmm, hidden, or at least I had some trouble finding them easily (fun thing is, I am a communications technologies student, lol :)). Anyways, it works like a charm now:).

Also nochmal viellen Dank, speziell an Dater! :)

Hallo,

i am in Germany too and i have a similar problem with o2 neo (Prophet):
my WLan works only one time!? This means e.g. in IE, i see the first website, but i cannot see any next links/websites. In order to procede to the next page i have to switch wifi off and again on. I use a home wlan-connection WPA-PSK with TKIP.
Thanks for your help

PS @ blazarov & Dater: habt ihr auch WM5?

PS @ blazarov & Dater: habt ihr auch WM5?

Translation: @ blazarov & Dater: Do you also have WM5?

Answer:
No, I upgraded to pdaviet Windows Mobile 6.
But it's not 100% bug-free yet. Better stick to Windows Mobile 5 for now ;)
