How can I turn off screen directly?

Hand up key just exit app first...

the red hangup button switches off the screen directly.

he means like in treo650's if you hit the red key/hangup button it turns the screen off when your in an app and when you press it again it is still in the current app, rather then hit the red key takes you to the home screen then hit it again and it turns the screen off.

Similar effect you can have with Opt+Hangup. It activates KeyGuard and turns screen of in 3 or 5 seconds. After pressing hangup again you're back in last app. But you have to use combination of keys :(
