Just a note of thanks for the ROM, I think it's great, looks cool and my M700 (I also have an Orbit) flies, simply flies. Genuinely surprisingly quick.

My original request for help was ignored by this forum. That said, the subsequent questions with users who had issues led me to the fix. When I did the 0-100 flash, I also had the last 30% go quickly, when the screen went white I unplugged the usb cable, then opened the ROM (B&B) and then plugged it back in and the ROM Updated perferctly! I also installed that other software program haret (not sure if it was the cause).

so after experiencing the error 270, error 260, low battery issues like everyone, this way worked. It worked on the Orbit and the M700 for those using the M700.

It´s really great ROM. I´ve just few small questions
- I used on Wizzard (also WM6) applicaction SmartSMS, but it doesn´t work on MDA. I can run it, but not able to choose person from Contacts, assign FakeNotify. When I do it manually, when SMS income, it works like on SMS from other conatcs
- button under "green phone" has no function? After pressing nothing happned. And didn´t find away, how to assgin any action
- is is possible to change bootdisplay? I don´t like T-Mobile "pink" style
- I choose speicific MP3 as a tone for incoming SMS - I click on "test" and everything is OK, I can hear it. But when SMS income, nosound. Bad MP3? Cause itś problem just of this one.

unfortunatly not... the firmware upgrade is part of the update.. it runs automatically the very first time you power up your M650... :-t

About GPS problem: Is it possible to check the GPS version or driver version of our HTC.
I don't think that french people got a special SirfIII chipset.
It is possible that you have to re-flash you HTC with the french version of Orange ROM or HTC ROM. And trying to flash again with B&B ROM.

Sweet! Working fine on my mda t-mobile dutch, upgraded the radio and installed b&b wm6. But was wondering if this black is "the" wm6 style? Seen some nice wm5 crossbow skins for wm5 around wich are better on the eye.

I've run this cab... and it works with VoipBuster. But somehow, I can hear the person I call very quite, and the person hears me on a very low level also.
I call the person without headset. I'm going to try it tonight with headset, this might work better than.

Even if you do not install WM6VoIP.CAB you can still make Skype calls without the headset plugged in.... only the other person will hear an echo in his/her voice... on your end the incoming voice comes out clear and without echo and you do not hear the echo of your own voice.

I believe that the headset must be plugged in only to avoid the annoyng echo for the other person, that's all.

I would imagine that this echo issue could be solved by reducing (regedit) the sensitivity of the device microphone (it is so sensitive that it picks up the incoming voice -due to the EXCELLENT built in loudspeaker- and re-route it through the mic back to the other calling party... hence the echo).

What do you think?

Maybe a different driver or something... pm me a regdump using the orange-rom where gps works pls... Maybe there is something plus send me gpsapi.dll, gpsid.dll and gpsid_htc.dll. If I find some time I will have a look at this.

Hi - when I try and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe on my MDACompact 3 (WM6) the process starts, gets to 3% and then bombs out with the error "Error (207):Update Error. The file is corrupt. Please check your update utility. I have downloaded the ROM from 2 different sources and have tried this on a Vista and XP machine, with the same error. I have tried this from the bootloader and the OS.

Any help much appreciated, cos this new rom look sweet ;-)

I have managed to upgrade my HTC P3330 (ARTE100) with here provided tools (great work and congs. to Tom and Pof), but i had to pull out my MicroSD card out. Anyway ROM id great but i don't see anymore E "edge" icon - only G "GPRS". Before upgrade on WM5 i had always E "edge" icon!

So how can i be sure that this is only icon issue and not also limited bandwidth / downgraded connection issue (i have also upgraded radio to 02.93.90 - thanks again Pof)

just to reiterate, i've installed v2 and it's working flawlessly bar two issues (which hopefully are interrelated):

Low memory warnings when resource intensive applications are used (co-pilot for me)
MS Word can't save files again due to memory issue?

Otherwise, thank you so much for an amazing ROM! Brought a new lease of life to my phone even with these two minor bugs :)

The only other one I found is more of a missing feature, but one that I can happily live without, is the link to turn wifi on from the connectivity popup (the one on the top bar, with the G letter).

Congratulations for this wonderful ROM! I've installed it 2 days ago, and I'm satisfied and pleased with it. There's a minor absences that Filipe has mensioned: the feature to turn Wifi on/off clicking on the E/G letter on the top bar is missing. Can this be fixed with a reg hack?

Other little absences:
-it would be nice to set PIE history, cookies and files to storage card by default
-Tom, you forgot to include Camera mode 9, the GPS camera already present in the old WM5 ROM, please include this in your next release!

The same thing happens with the Bepe's Windows Mobile 6 WWE rom:

Whenever something is written to the MicroSD card, the error occurs :( :(

For example: Try to copy a file from storage memory to the MicroSD card, you will see the low memory warning.

Hi Tom,

It works perfectly on my XDA Orbit, thank you very much. I think this is one of the very important aspects of WM6, I'm glad this was made possible. Let's piss some service providers now heheheh

Instead of fiddling around with xml files as well, Shaun33 has created a very nice tool as well for configuring SIP settings easily, I think including that as part of the rom isn't such a bad idea :)

Has anybody actually solved the memory warning issue?

Installed this on my xda orbit this evening, works fine apart from the memory issue and when i tap the G button in the top bar and tap "turn on wifi", after wifi turns on, when i tap the wifi icon it still says "tunr on wifi" even though wifi is on. I have to close wifi with the comm manager, which is annoying lol.

We NEED a solution to the memory issue?? Cheers!

I have read that a few people have had problemd with these upgrades if their pc is running Vista. Has anybody updated this firmware with Vista??


there's a how to somewhere in the artemis WM6 forum (maybe in this topic, to lazy to search :o) how to prevent problems with vista when flashing. it has something to do with replacing the driver windows vista uses for your phone when it's in bootloader mode with the driver for hermes or something.

Browse a few topics and i'll bet you will find it. ;)

In fact, contrary to what I was thinking at the first sight, it could be the update to revert back to the QuickGPS mode : when we examine the binary, we can see it takes ~10 mn to upgrade, so it can't be run automatically on a hard-reset...

Moreover, in the initflashfiles.dat, we can find :

Flashed onto my UK provided o2 XDA Orbit which is CID locked perfectly, so if anyone was wondering then don't worry just do it!
I too have the low storage space message, only occurs during memory intensive apps but it did in Bepe's rom which I believe this one is based upon? And since Bepe's rom is based upon the German o2 release of WM6 then there may well be a patch released from them soon? Who knows....

2) tried GPS soft like iGo and TomTom didn't worked

3)came back to WM5, Orange last Rom, soft reset before customisation : tried iGo : worked fine , TomTom : didn't worked

4)Today : upgrade to B&B.V2 WM6, didn't ask for customisation, AUTO install from iGo (on my SD) on WM6 startup and GPS works

Flashed my XDA Orbit last night - for those of you who are holding back (perhaps wary of bricking your PDA) don't worry ... just read the first page and flash away ...

One question though ... is there any way I can remove some of the 'built-in' apps - eg HTC Home ? This program can't display my home town weather, so I've had to go back to using SPB Mobile Shell which does ....

I don't know if this is related to the upgrade to this rom or not but I upgraded today without any problems at first but since powering off my Orbit, I now cannot get it to power back on again. There's no lights, it won't charge or reset.

I've called o2 and I'm sending it back.

Im changing rom, this memory issue is a killer for me. I cant run tomtom without it complaining, infact nearly everything complains, even after a hard reset and install nothing but tomtom.

Trying PDAMobiz as that is rumoured to be the most stable.

Also, while it looks nice ive noticed a lot of stuff is installed that SHOULDNT! I.e it was ripped from another device.

This rom (V2) 'looks' great but it's just not practical for everyday use.

It's full of bugs! memory errors, runs slow at times, GPS, texting etc - and as I mentioned earlier, for some reason when mines powered off it won't come back on again! If I leave it connected to my machine for a while, eventually the orange light comes on and I can get it turned on again.

If this rom is to be used everyday then we need fixes for the bugs or a new version with the bugs ironed out.

In the meantime, while it's been cool seeing this well presented rom & I appreciate your work Tom, I'm changing back to something stable.

4)Today : upgrade to B&B.V2 WM6, didn't ask for customisation, AUTO install from iGo (on my SD) on WM6 startup and GPS works

Just thought i'd add my experience:
T-mobile MDA compact III - CID unlocked.
Everything went sweet - had to do the super CID first otherwise you get a corrupt rom message.
I've had no problems with memory, and can run tom-tom, voice command, core player, etc. SMS, MMS and GPS are all good and working.

Everything is just way faster than wm5....
Only problem i had was the comm manager putting all the icons on one place, i just installed the 8 button cab and it's fixed.

This is my story:
Well, I bought a locked movistar Artemis and I unlocked it at imei-check. As I wasn´t happy with the rom that was movistar-cooked, I tried WM6 B&B v1. First I used pof´s cid unlocker and then flashed the rom. What I got was a semi-brick that I bypassed with a hard reset and flashing again.
I installed tomtom and seemed to work fine, but the bug I was getting was At the today screen: sometimes the time in big characters stops while the time in the upper right side works properly. Then I installed some software and the today screen got worse, so I tried flashing v2.
Now everithing I´m using works properly, but the bug with the time at today´s screen persists, then I make a soft reset and everythigs goes back in order.
I think this rom is great and really attractive with the touch screens, but is also very weak and cracks when installing programs.

Perhaps...try this : install WM5 0407, install iGo 2006 plus, run it, wait for a fix, then, and without soft reseting your device, install the USPL and then upgrade to WM6 without hard reset after upgrading....

Remember : WM6 didn't ask me for the customisation...there is something weird HERE....

Just calling in to say I've got this installed on my Orbit and after a day or so of use and setting it up the way I like it, I'm actually very impressed. It's a great rom and I'm looking forward to V3.

The memory error, could it be anything to do with the fact this rom has no Ext Rom and its instead been transfered to the normal storage? I suspect this was never meant to be and has caused the error.

It used to happen on my Prophet also if the rom I used had the page pool size messed with too much.

It is quite obvious that B&B is THE REAL THING and I am ready to bet that every owner of a compatible device will tap on that rom till WM7 will come out.

As somebody wisely suggested earlier on: "you ask 100 people you get 100 different perspectives"... so if you continue asking around we will tap on V.3 under the Xmas tree...

In the best interest of all parties involved I would like to make a suggestion to you and to all fellow posters:

A) Fix the HIGH PRIORITY STUFF (Low Storage Warning + Word bug) and upload a V.3

[Up to you if you also want to add general enhancement stuff (that everybody would like to have anyway) such as the registry tweaks like GPS P9 Camera, "G" & "E" icons, increase block transfer size of SD card from 64 to 256, increase from 30 to 48 the sound quality in A2DP settings and set Joint Stereo to 0 instead of 1 etc. Having seen that several people get the “compimeh.0409.dat” error with Sprite Backup it would be very nice if you could fix that small bug too.]

B) Upload a V.4 LIGHT (without any applications). Upload at the same time a "CAB COLLECTION" (a package) with all the cool stuff/apps which you will include in the V.4 PRO.

C) Upload a V.4 PRO (with the stuff YOU decide to include taking into consideration the REASONABLE posts in this thread).

I believe that in this way you will MAKE VERY HAPPY 99% of us.... the remaining 1% (the "grumpy team").... well, these will never be happy whatever you do…. So don’t let them delay the great B&B PROJECT...

It would be nice to hear what you (Tom) personally think of this strategy and a comment from the fellow posters would be highly appreciated too.

I have tried WM6voip.cab got the voip to show up on the today screen and on the dialer but the .dll files are not in that cab so u will need to make sure u have the .dll also, but in regards to it working i have got it showing internet calling: available but yet to work out why the dialer will not change from network provider to SIP provider. :D

I upgraded to B&Bv2 and after a while the Today screen is not updated anymore with the Items I select, only after I do a soft reset. Did you see this kind of problem before?

Is it a way to activate the voip in this release? I installed the wm6voip.cab, did the settings with Sip Conf Tool but I'm missing the dll files in the Windows folder. May I take them from somewhere and just put them in the right folder ?

I upgraded my XDA Orbit to the Black & Blue V2 ROM and installed TomTom 6. As soon as I run TomTom I would get the memory error. I’ve seen loads of posts here on this forum about it and thought I would just live with it until hopefully V3 fixed the problem.

I reinstalled all my apps I had under WM5 (Listed Below) and now my memory error has completely gone. Something I’ve installed must have had an affect but I have no Idea which one, I can run as many apps as I like but the error never appears anymore.

The problem with the WI-Fi icon on the top bar always showing “turn on” can be temporary resolved as the Battery Status program can add a Wi-Fi icon to the system tray which toggles it on and off perfectly as well as Bluetooth.

1 issue I have is the phonepad on the virst version BB1 was much better with dial button and end button + speed dial,on the second version fixex all the sms problems & gprs.
is it possible for any one to load the cab Touch Skin Phonepad
of the first BB1 rom, I think is more stable and has got more options.

I tried this ROM today and I have only one problem, but a big one, my GSM is not working properly, for example I can call everyone, but noone can call me, my voicmail answer it. My gradient is also bad, only one culomn , sometimes it go on for 2 or 3.
When someone wants to call my I hear it on the speaker next to my computer, but then nothng hapen.
If someone know something for this, please share it whit me.

After several hours my gradien is very bad, only one culomn , sometimes it go up for 2 or 3. When someone tried to call my, my voicmail answer it, but I can call everyone, at the time. And if someone tring to call me, I hearing it on my speakers next to my computer, and when i have to see on my PDA the calling, nothing hapens, and my voicmail answer it.
If someone have an good idea what is going on, that would be great.
If there is no aid, I will put back the original ROM.

mATE i HAVE INSTALLED THUIS ROM ON MY o2 XDA ORBIT.

Just make sure if its CID locked (which it will be if you havent paid to have it unlocked) that you run USPL first.

You will see somewhere and idiots guide to upgrading which is the way I did it and very happy and yes it is WM6

If you have any problems pm me and I would happily talk you through it if needs be.

1 issue I have is the phonepad on the virst version BB1 was much better with dial button and end button + speed dial,on the second version .

I'm using the rom now for about 1 week and i don't have anny troubles with it. The onley thing is the wlan that you can't switch of in the today screen. tomtom6 works good and only at the startup i get the message of low memory but that can be normal because the system is staring up at that time and uses more memory than in standby, after 5 minutes i have 15 to 20 mb memory free depending on use of programs..

Keep it on tom and hope v3 is even better than this one

In a previous message i told you that everything on my B&B v2 rom was working fine, but at that time i haven't tested the office word. when i wrote a message in word and wanted to save it i got the message "not enough memory bla bla bla" I searched the internet and on this forum i got the answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310832.

I installed the cab file and now office is working OKE :)
i now can save files to the storage card and internal memory of my p3300.

Ok. here is the fix for office. It just makes some minor changes to the registry to properly register the CLSID for the office components. Rather than re-install the entire office package.

It only fixes the memory issue with office. To fix it for other apps like TomTom the only way so far is to open the memory component in the control panel and view the "Storage Card" tab. This fixes that until you reboot or reset.

After a few days with the V2 Rom and WM6 I have the following remarks:

Good:
WM6 works a quicker, email is much better etc. the whole phone feels snappier. Skype works without hitches and calls are quicker connected.
Good look, theme etc.

Less:
Problems with switching the WIFI on.
My navigation system can't pair/connect to my Bluetooth anymore. It might be a WM6 problem though.
Memory error now and then, Tomtom can't find maps on storage card anymore.

I am using SPB shell, dairy and pocket plus not using much of the supplied programs on the ROM.

Therefor I voted for a clean(er) version in V3. Hope it will be out soon with some bugs corrected.
To be short: I am glad I have two devices, one for testing and one for 'real life'.
The whole setup is just not (yet) good enough for everyday use but it is getting closer with every version.

Again thanks to Tom for the nice work but if you have only one device and are thinking about flashing the upgrade, think twice and wait a bit longer.

Dude i got that error too the first time. Just do it on other PC!!!!!!!! I try it for 1est time on my 3 year old PC and i gent error 270 or 370 Corrupt Image. Then try the same thing on my Laptop and it works flawless xD

Had same issue. I couldnt even run the USPL... it would give me the error image file corrupted.

So I paid the 30 euro at imei check and tried using the pdaviet rom directly, still no luck... and still unable to use USPL.

The fix was simply to try from another PC! and then I got rid of this stupid error. I guess I could have saved the imeicheck money if I had tried that before :)

Same here! Didn't work on my Vista Notebook, but it did perfectly in a WinXp SP2 Parallels virtual machine on my MacPro :D

Are there more people with Active sync problems? My push mail works, active sync runs fine connected to Exchange server but it won't run properly connected to my Vista Notebook. I starts to run, I can browse files etc. but the sync process errors /times out.
I don't have this problem with the standard ROM Artemis I have and didn't have the problem with the V1 of this ROM.

Than installing the jar-s was also OK, but when I tried to run any of them (for ex. opera mini) I got the "Failed to run midlet" error message. Afterwards, I tried with intent v10 (uninstalling v11, installing v10) but got the same error messages.

I am facing the same issue. Contacts with photos will not sync until you removed the photos. Before upgrade and after upgrade of the Artemis makes not difference. Looks like Outlook issues.

I tried several midlet managers and finally found one that works. I think it is (I am somewhat confused as I have so many in my folder) a cab I have with the name jmm101257_wwe_1004.cab I also think I downloaded it from the xda ftp site. Let me know if this is of help. I can investigate further and maybe send you the cab.

I am having the following problem since updating to the V2 ROM (but don't have any issues with memory, GPS or any of the other reported issues) on my XDA Orbit.

When powering on the phone I have SIM PIN request set to on. The screen to enter the PIN pops up, but in the background the GPRS and Push-Email is trying to connect. Obviously this keeps failing as the PIN hasn't been entered yet. The issue is that the system pops up multiple windows and notifications (Windows saying GPRS connecting and notification saying it failed to connect). These windows hinder the entry of the PIN number - which has now become a black art of trying to stab at the correct digits between notifications !:(

Has anyone else come across this issue, or is it peculiar to me?

The clock in the taskbar at the top of the screen is a few seconds behind the today plugin. Where does the today plugin get its time info from? Is it possible to sync them to the same time source so there is no time difference between the two, its like 8 secs off, with the today plugin time ahead of the taskbar time.

Dont know if this is an issue with the comm manager but when wifi is ON and connected, tapping the wifi icon on the task bar brings up the wifi status pop up with the option to turn wifi ON, it should be to turn wifi OFF as a quick shortcut to bypass the comm manager.

Big Shame... That is what is really putting me off going to WM6.

I use OperaMini an awful lot to browse & read RSS feeds. Its way better than PIE.

Someone suggested on this forum somewhere that an older version, JMM101257_WWE_1004.CAB (if you can find it on the net!) works with WM6.

If you do find and install this, please keep us posted as to what happened.

Memory Error

see my thread on how to update without memory errors.

The problem is the update method this rom uses wipes out the Extended Rom, hence the reason you get more storage space.

The problem is the rom its based on was never designed to work without an EXT Rom and have more storage space.

so the solution?

1. Revert back to a Rom be it WM5 or the original O2 rom that HAS an Extended Rom.
2. USPL your device so you can upgrade it.
3. Upgrade using an OS only rom which uses the .BAT file method!

If you use an update which is packaged into the nice and easy to use RomUpgrade.exe then it will ahve memory issues. the reason being these methods remove the Extended Rom which IS needed.

there is also a bug with the black and blue office that means it simply wont work. You have to either apply a patch I made or use Bepes original rom. The issue also means you cant save documents in Excel. Just look, the option isnt where it should be and what you think is save as is infact something else. Muns fix has done nothing but break things.

I suggest sticking with Bepe's original rom, if done correctly there will be no memory errors and its cleaner. While this rom looks nice the HTC Home and Dialer skin make the device really REALLY sluggish. Turning on can take a moment too long. Going to the phone can seem like a chore and dont even get me started on running TomTom on the thing. Trying to make a call with tomtom running can take 10 seconds for the screen to appear and become ready for input.

Followed the idiots guide (see other thread) and worked fine - originally would not work on my Vista computer but 100% first time on XP (have read vista can have problems)

Hoped I wouldn't have the storage problem or the word/excel issues but had both.

Word/Excel solved by installing the Office2k7_Artemis_Patch.cab (will try and attach but if not I found it somewhere in this forum)

Storage issue with TomTom solved itself after I installed a number of other programs - a number of people think this storage issue relates to the lack of an extrom - therefore I wonder if having programs installed over all, or a part of the original extrom area solves it???

I have noticed as well that help file for comm manager is not english!!

I would like to start by saying that I do NOT use Excel Mobile on my Artemis (I use it extensively on PC/Laptop) but indeed some problems are there.

I get to save docs (no prob with that) but what I find weird is that if you tap on "Tools" (normally it should be "File") the option "Save as" comes up and if you tap on "Save as" the "Sort by" option shows (Ascending /Descending), it is like the menu "File" has been swapped with the "Tools" menu. To save the doc you just have to close it (you are not asked you if you want to save the doc!) and then rename/move it in the folder you actually want it.

I have also noticed that in the "Format Cells" the "cell/line/row height" word has been left in (misspelled) German language "Zeilenhuhe".

But -again- who uses Excel Mobile on an Artemis? I would almost assume that 9 out of 10 fellow posters would consider the issue with Excel Mobile a minor one and would appreciate Tom to focus on more serious matters.

Honestly I must admit that I have never even looked into the Comm Manager help (I did not even know there was such a file :confused: ) and if that has been somehow left in German language, well, this confirms that NOBODY really looks up for that feature... :D

hello there, as this is my first post here I would like to greet all of you. I found this board while I was googling about wm6 and I want to ask about something - can somebody please download this brilliant upgrade[ver 1], split it into 4 parts 10 mb sized, and then upload somewhere ?[preferably not into rapidshare or other queue based site]. I just installed the version 2 Rom.

I must see that it is running perfect.;-)

I love the Comm manager, Phone Pad en Security Pad.
Why are some of them left out in V3?

I don't have problems with memory.
I saw it 1 time after soft reset.

It is a litle bid slower than the original wm2005 rom but the rest is fine.

I have tried the ROMUpdateUtility it find the orbit but does install and says lost connection, any help would be apprecitated
Pls install it from a XP-pc rather than a Vista-pc (or use other drivers).

Hey guys.
I just upgraded my orbit to blue and black PDVIET v3 WWE by tom_codon. ran uspl fast and then upgraded. I must say the it's much better than WM5:) . More features, Fun to play with too. But could use a sound enhancer like an equilizer in audio manager for better sound and a few more skins to suit everyones liking. Just a humble suggestion but this is good too.:D .

Uber-congratulations on the B&B ROM!

I have one question - how do I know which one I have (v1, v2 etc.)? The ROM Version in Device Information says "Black&Blue v3.7 WWE", but looking at this thread there are some subtle differences which make me wonder.

Otherwise - superb work, and many thanks.

UPDATED - I found the page which shows a table of ROMs available, so I've answered my own question...should search more thoroughly in future...

Can anybody answer this one...

After much chopping and changing, I've settled on the v2 Black and Blue ROM, for various reasons, not least that it has more or less exactly half the functionality of the O2 WM5 that I liked (still would like to get my hands on the O2 Calendar Today plugin...but you can't have everything) while upgrading to WM6 and getting all the advantages thereof.

There's one thing remaining - in the top bar, where the "G" icon sits (which is replaced by ActiveSync, or Wireless, depending upon status), this seemingly has trouble revertingto "G", when - for example - ActiveSync is disconnected.

Does anybody know how to fix this, or is there a work-around?
