Hi,

This is really directed toward Nocturne.op.15.

I've been trying out the various HTC Touch cabs that are available on the Wizard Mobile 6 forum and they look really nice. Especially the Dialer and Comms manager.

The problem with installing these cabs is that adding all the extra stuff to the windows folder has an effect on performance, so I was wondering if you could possibly consider using the Touch Dialer and Comms Manager as the default in future roms? Or, would it be possible to have a rom without any dialer or comms manager so that we can install our own?

Thanks

do not afraid ,-)
if performance will persist, all modern things will be inside...

Great! I hoped you would say something like that.

If you could get the Touch home plugin to work without slowing anything down that would be fantastic! :)
(I realise you're after a clean rom)

Thanks.

home screen plugin will not be used. i have never seen something so slow - even after uninstall, system startup is 2 times slower (something remained there).
the second reason is that this plugin is absolutely, realy absolutely useless. It just consumes precious screen space, memory and cpu. easy one-hand operation is aslo hardly possible with it.

If you like something like this, use spb mobile shell, which has almost no effect to device speed. It has also many more functions, is almost the same size. Latest 1.5 Beta3 is really fast, stable and brings many new functions against v. 1

Final result: i will not include this useless plugin, no discussion about this please. slow your ppc yourself, i will not do it, i'm trying to make it as fast as possible. easiest way to slow ppc down is to underclock it to 95MHz :-)

I will check dialer and comm mananger and inform you later.

Cheers Nocturne,

You are right about the usefulness of the plugin, I just think it looks nice, which is not a good enough reason to have it on the phone, slowing things down :)

Think I'll have a look at the shell tool.

thanks for your thoughts

Dialer is great, really easy to handle it i one hand. But i don't like its graphics, used font looks really horrible.

EDIT: no, dialer will also not be used. it has really pleasant size of buttons, but there's one thing i'm missing: hide keypad button. if i want to see more contacts and not to use smartialing (which works), it's impossible. i will work on it - maybe just some registry settings is wrong

I actually really like the font, it's really simple.
There is a contacts soft key available to show more contacts.

I also use a handy programme called QDz photo contacts. You can decide whether or not it shows the photo's, choose surname or first name order, and instead of one long list of names, the list is 2D. Works really well.

Well, guys I've tried the TOUCH dialer as well. It's really slow (compared to the standard WM6 dialer) but much worse is the fact, that used smartdialing technology prevents me to select contacts with diacritics (crazy czech signs :) ).

The more i use this HTC Touch dialer the more i like it.
The smart dialing works really well and makes it easy to select a contact to either call, sms or email. The contacts softkey makes it easy to view more contacts.

There is alot of discussion about this on the wizard forum. There it talk that everything runs faster if the dialer is in the Rom. (I don't know why.)
There is also talk of virtual extended roms, but i don't have a clue about all that.

Once the various apps that i use have been opened and minimised i find this dialer doesn't cause a problem with regard to speed.

Update: Actually, after performing a hard reset I've come to realise just how much this dialer and comm manager were slowing things down. Love the dialer, hate the slow down.
