Does anyone know of any cheap suction window mounts that are made to hold Hermes device (8525)?
Personally I would not recommend or risk using a cheap suction mount for a £400 device in case the quality sucks, and it dislodges from the glass and causes major damage to your device. Then the £15 you have saved from buying a quality mount pales into insignificance. I use a Brodit (http://www.brodit.com/) vent mount as these are a lot more secure, have you considered one of these?

The vents in my SCion xB are questionable at best, not sure I'd stick a vent mount on them. I used a suction window mount for my Genio PPC with a CF GPS for years and it never fell off the window.
Does your device not get real hot if you have the heat on in the winter?
My Hermes stays as normal because I just shut off that vent, similar to the one in the picture on the right :)

I got one from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Car-PDA-Holder-for-i-mate-JASJAM-Qtek-9600-HTC-TyTN_W0QQitemZ250131579536QQihZ015QQcategoryZ13080 2QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).
First time i drove i had the window up cause i mounted it on the window side of the stearing wheel. But i had no issues with it at all. And it was like $25AU shipped.

I bought a Bracketron Mobile Grip-It Windshield Mount for Mobile Devices from best buy.. was $32 and I'm pretty happy with it. Like the manual says, it works best when resting on the dashboard, 14" arm is helpful with my far away windshield

On really hot days my ebay bought mount falls off. :/
I had to put the bottom of the mount resting on my dash for it to not fall, i wouldn't recommend the ebay ones.

hmm, i havent had this problem at all, even though I expected it!
Its sometimes hard to get the suctioncup off the windshiled even AFTER the mechanical lever is released!
How close does yours look to the picture of the bracketron universal at bestbuy.com?

I've got the Best Buy one as well - seems to work fine. One thing I liked about it was that the rubber pads on the sides can be moved up or down the phone to avoid pushing the buttons on the sides when squeezing down on the phone (like the PTT button).
ive had pdas in my cars about 5 years now, and ive found even the expensive suction mounts arnt all that!
So i tend to find a suitable plastic holder, attach a bracket to the back, home made bit of bent metal, and fix it in behind a panel or vent to leave no marks in the dash!
Ive dont plenty of track days and the phones have been safe.
