Looks like my main battery for O2 XDA NEO is dying, maybe WM6 is eating more of my battery power. Now I want to get a replacement battery. Besides the factory type isnt there a newer version and holds more charge too? Not sure about reliability, if anyone can share some of their experinces will be great.

Batteries with Extanded Covers ... THEY SUCKS!

The Cover is crap!

The 1800mAh isnt easy to find ... i think its the best Batterie in the moment. If HTC make a extanded batterie kit ... buy it! I have a Startrek with new Coverer and the Quality is very high!

Do you have a link or a pic of the battery? why the extanded covers sucks can you explain that?

My friends and I are using the 1800mAh batteries from this seller http://search.stores.ebay.com.au/SOHOGOPHER-Enhancements-Gadgets_1800mAh-battery_W0QQfciZ5QQfclZ4QQfsnZSOHOGOPHERQ20Enhance mentsQ20GadgetsQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ30323434QQs ofpZ0

Comparing to my one year old 1200mAh original battery the results were obvious. I could get more than 90 hours of standby with a few mins of call each day. Something I couldn't have thought of with a PocketPC phone.

It's been about 5 months since my purchase, the battery is still good. I heard from others that non-genuine battery tend to have shortened lifespan in just a few months.

Only about 3 to 5 grams heavier and 1mm thicker (which leaves no space between the back cover and the battery) if you do notice these minute differences. It's crucial that the battery won't make your Prophet any thicker!

My only complain was, if you asked, that it took almost a week for the delivery. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

Maybe WM6 has some bug that is draining your battery so much. I have 1200mA battery and it works 4-5 days before recharging.

forgot to say, battery is not heating up at all - I left it on charge for 3 or 4 hours last night and nothing - however, residual charge is actually powering the PDA so there is life in there. Must be the chip that reports on battery condition and charge etc.

Also, I have tried both in 3 different PDA (m600's) and same problem. One phone has an 1800mah battery purchased from ebay and that looks exactly the same but works fine - so it's not as if the PDA can't handle non-standard size.

Hope this helps.

I hope your replacement does in fact work.. and I wonder if they did in fact test the battery before shipping.

my $5 dealextreme battery came today...

popped it into my prophet.. without much expectations of it working

i could power my device on but after a minute it gave me low battery notification. connected it to my ac wall charger but my charging status led didn't light up. went into power management.. and it couldn't detect battery. i left it plugged in for 10 minutes with the device on.. and when i returned the battery was a little bit warm.. not sure if heat was generated from battery or was it dissapated from the device.

i was just about the give up.. so i unplugged it to see if it held any charge. i turned on wifi and started streaming some video until the whole device shut down. i plugged in the ac adapter and noticed the charger indicator led lit up a steady orange. is it charging ?

i turned on the device and it did a soft reset. i noticed the battery signal on the task bar showed the usual charging plug instead of the dead battery symbol. i tapped on it and the device recognized the battery as a Li-Polymer. the charging meters are pumping.. and currently at 6%. 30 mins later.. i checked and it is still at 6%.

i'm going to leave it charging overnight and see what happens. i'll update tomorrow afternoon.

has anyone gotten this lucky with the dx batts ?

so if anyone has a dud.. does it turn on at all when its inserted?

if so.. drain it such that the device shuts off -- black screen with some ghosting of your last app. then cross your toes and fingers that the charging led will light up when you connect the ac.

if not.. try plugging in ac while it softresets.

lets see those dud batts turn into guuuuud batts.

i certainly hope i don't have to request and wait another 3 weeks for a replacement.

Not sure what the people at DealExtreme are puting in their coffee cos I ordered the 1800mAh version and got the 1200 instead. Havn't tried the battery as my existing standard is still performing ok, although requires a regular overnight charge.
Notified them on Saturday morning, and got a response that replacement was dispatched on Tuesday, so can't complain at response time and attitude.
I'll post more once the item arrives and I've tried it.

I pretty much had the same experience. After reading so many complaints, it can't be a single faulty battery. My theory is that the Prophet (or Win 2005) can't handle the extra amps. Or of course the chips in these batteries are broken :p.

I won't bother with a replacement. I'll just keep this one as a spare battery for long trips etc...

Okay.. when I got home late last night.. it was still stuck at 6%. Battery was cold. Charger light was still on.

Unplugged it.. and lasted about 2 hours with max brightness and streaming video via wifi. It even kept me company through our power failure -- wifi powered by my courteous neighbors across street. Since the prophet was new.. I wanted to play around with it. I did a DANGEROUS flash rom to TNTV5 and thank goodness it made it through before the battery died. My luck went aswell cause now it doesn`t detect the battery.

right, received replacements today and guess what - both are 1200mAh, not extended version. Not a happy bunny as last thing I need is two spare standard batteries - I already have one! So, courtesy of dealextreme I now have 4 useless batteries and have waited approx 5 weeks to get to this point. Think they must have realised 1800mAh are duds!

What next? I'll email them but don't expect much joy now.

No offense, but my 8-month-old 1800mAh battery works just fine (see the first page of this thread). It was probably some $20 which was a few times more expensive than at other websites but it does work a lot better than the original 1200mAh.

And more importantly, no problems whatsoever.

At the beginning it was %19 and dropping quickly.
I'm waiting for it to end.
Then I'll charge it at home.
I will send my experience tomorrow.
By the way is there any exploding battery story about these ones.
I hope "NO"...

See you..

PS: the same problem 1200mAH instead of 1800mAH...but I realised that the battery is heavier than the original one.
I could be a "label" problem or Li-ion, Li-Polymer difference.

dionysos77
4th October 2007, 07:46 AM
I went to home and changed the original with the new one. And played a little bit to empty it.
After PPC closes it self with a "low batt" warning . I connected to the wall chager and Turned it On..It showed chargin and LiPolymer battery level was increasing.
When I woke up I saw that it was fully (100%) charged. I turned it OFF and changed to the original batt.
I will be charging (overcharging for the first time process) at home tonight. I will share my experience tomorrow.

In fact you are right, a flickering + - short circuit contact will probably cause a small spark only or even nothing happens.. :)

But, bad quality batteries do explode due to internal leak, Fake Nxkia battery exploded and hurt someone in Hong Kong had been a news headline for some days in Hong Kong months ago... just exceptional cases.... ^^.

I will share my experience tomorrow.
...

Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries dont have to be overcharged. In fact it should not be even possible because most chargers should swicth off the current. The tickle current is only used on Ni-Mh and Ni-Ca batteries...

I have the battery for some weeks. It works, but it's draining power quickly, compared with the original 1200mAh battery.

I can use it for 2 hours when listening mp3 over bluetooth, original battery is going strong much more hours.

Overall: too good to be true.

Hello guys,

I've read the whole thread but couldn't find satisfactory answers. Did anyone buy this 1800mah battery, is it better than the oem 1200mah ?

I consider of buying this one but i am not sure if it would be a waste of time/money.
