Let me have the pleasure of being the first to thank you and to request that you include the voip you previously posted. It works great.
I also think that adding the utility Shaun33 created in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303493&highlight=sipgate
is a nice idea to include. There is no other way to configure the SIP settings other than creating an XML file, making it a cab and installing it. So this should complete everything needed to be able to use voip on WM6.
May I also suggest that we keep it simple as well, I mean not to overcrowd this little bugger with so many things after all.
Many thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing this ROM being cooked, I'm actually getting a little hungry :)
Cheers.

Hey Tom,
I think many of us would appreciate bug fixes before app additions. :-)
I got this installed on my XDA Orbit today and works nicley but a few bugs. Such as When i turn wi-fi on, it comes on, but wont load any webpages, and acts like theres no connection, but its fully connected to my wifi at home.
Also the message alert pop up doesnt match the cool sleek design, its the old white and blue colors and looks horrible.
Maybe you should have a proper bugs thread and get these cleaned up before adding apps?
Thanks!

Had this idea to enhance the sleekness of the interface, not sure if you can incorporate this:How about changing the background in settings - programs to touch black and with white fonts?:. Or even if its possible assign the background image?... This would be all new ;)

Hi Tom,
I've been following this thread since the beginning, the only thing that I miss is my native language support. I have a German HTC P3300 and would be happy to use it in that language, I don't even mind if the other addons are in English.
Apart from that, my critical apps are Wisbar Advance, SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Diary. But since those are all commercial apps it wouldn't be wise to include them.
How about a tutorial how to add custom apps or creating the ROM?

One thing I hate is always to reinstall all the apps I want on a new Rom.
Is it possible to make 1 cabfile for all the apps I want and put it in fe an extended rom? So after putting a new rom on my device it will install all the apps I wanted automatically? But I think if this works, the next problem will that I still need to register all the apps manually, or is there way to do this automatically too?
Cheers

Tom, thanks for all your good work sofar, great job.
When you ask 100 people which program's they like to include in the ROM, you probably will get also 100 different replies. So I second the idea of assembling a barebone ROM (so without one single extra program but hopefully with as less bugs as possible), and a tutorial so that everybody can cook their own unique personal ROM.

yep, like someone suggested above..make a barebone rom and at all the new faitures with extra cab files. I installed the first rom..then installed all my applications..then installed the second rom..yet again installed all my application etc.
so with every new rom, i can start all over again.
Just make a bare rom with just the essentials and let everybody make a wishlist:)
and let them choose the cabfiles they like to install.
looks more professional then:)
btw..great rom ..maybe now i keep my artemis instead of my daily hunt for the exclusiv benq p51 with sdcart, a full keyboard and 320*240 res.:D

Tom, in your new build can you remove the values from the 1 and 2 keys in HKLM/Comm/RTC/AdapterTypes leaving the keys in place that is please? This seems to have cleared out some issues in regards to voip as Sleuth255 has stated especially if they haven't been set in the first place.
Thanks.

Hi Tom, First of all Thank You for giving us Great ROMs.
-Some people like the V3 will be loaded with all the goodies.
-Some people don't, i hope you will be release the Vanilla version (No body Fat version). if you not going to release the Vanilla version, how do i uninstall the extra software.
I'm M700 user. in V2 I have an issue with appointment schedule.. its keep repeating itself. after i check over and over again.. its nothing to do with the reminder setup. probably a minor bug.
Other than that your ROM is completely THE BEST! M700 work flawlessly!
Thanks for evrything.

I was disappointed with my purchase of the orbit ... until i used your rom! It looks good and a lot faster too.
The ONLY thing i miss form the standard o2 rom is the battery display meter. I would like to see this in a ver 3. But even without this I would never consider changing back!

Yes, I think there are two ways for Roms.....One with TomTom and BatteryStaty and all that HTC Applications....maybe Operabrowser....
on the other hand it would be very good to have a cleany Rom...free from all this applications, free Free FREE....Just the simpliest PPCPhoneeditions Setting...

First, thanks tom for your great work! you rescued me from looking for German words (on my O2 orbit, Germany version) in dictionaries all day long... and even, Black & Blue is much nicer and faster than the original O2 ROM
As for the B&B v3, I am also very like the idea of "clean rom": make a clean rom and let people install the application they like, just like Fedora Core and Extras... So that people do not have to waste their very limited space for some not used applications....
By the way, tom, is there a way to add weekday like Monday, Sunday on HTC Home? or do you know how to remove HTC Home (not HTCHomePlug) from the memory (not just disable it from the setting of today plugin)?

Sorry I don't mean to be sarcastic. Tom - come on! Don't waste your time creating a thing that aims to make happy everyone. It won't! It's impossible to do such thing. The wish-list will be endless. If you really want to do it this way you better create a closed list of apps and make other vote. Then you would include only half of winners apps.
But to be honest I'd rather avoid it. Use your great talent and time to fix common problems and bugs. Create a stable platform first. Then, based on that you could cook a few releases (Home, Standard, Proffesional, Ultimate :D) with some application packs in it for all lazy guys ;)
I hadn't had a chance to even try your work. This is only because of all the bugs I'm reading about. I use my MDA C III on daily basis, have a set of apps installed. I'm not really fancy flashing the rom evry week. After I bricked my device with PDAViet I won't try again. I know it's not fair to the other guys that make effort to flash and try - report bugs and give great feedback to all community. I'm waiting for stable version only because I have no possibility and time to play with it.
That is why I would suggest you to invest all your talent, resources and time in preparing something that would make happy EVERYONE - not only those that their apps were included in your work.
Congratulations and many thanks for keeping and willing to make us happy :)
P.S.
I still can't find an answer to my question - how should I flash my MDA with your ROM if I have it already unlocked by IMEICheck?

Tom >> it is good to see such devotion to us from you. :)
OK, regarding V3 .... go with bare/Vanilla/Clean ROM with essentials from HTC and that comes with WM6 usually. Add all that goodies that comes with Touch interface/scheme (which u already did with v2), and perhaps JAVA Midlet addition would be nice, with VoIP settings.
More Storage ROM available, as well as free RAM, the better.
BTW, how about this time two themes under settings (Blue-Black and Black only). And take out the inputs - block recognizer, transcribber ... will space some space (maybe).

19th June 2007, 02:54 PM
I go with what everyone else is going for - the standard HTC stuff, regedit, voice command, etc.
Not to derail - Since everyone is keen on clean roms and installing their own apps, is there a master list of apps within the forums? Having to constantly search for updates and some of these apps with the right keywords is a bit of a chore.

I agree with what some people stated, a good and CLEAN ROM is the best you could produce. Of course you could build your own style and call it the "TOM-ROM" but that's up to you.
Lots of free RAM, storage ROM and maybe some translated ROMs (German, French, Dutch) would be what most people will be interested in.

In the next version, I'd be happy to see
- GPS Camera (Camera mode 9, needs a registry patch)
- a profile manager or any simple app that's capable of turning on/off the GSM and Wifi at a desired time during the day (off for night, on for the day)
- midlet manager
- personalizations for HTC Home plugin, I really like this plugin but it eats up too much space on the homescreen. Maybe a "HTC Home compact" version of this plugin would be nice.
Thanks Tom, I really appreciate your work!

Dear TOM,
It is quite obvious that B&B is THE REAL THING and I am ready to bet that every owner of a compatible device will tap on that rom till WM7 will come out.
As somebody wisely suggested earlier on: "you ask 100 people you get 100 different perspectives"... so if you continue asking around we will tap on V.3 under the Xmas tree... :D
In the best interest of all parties involved I would like to make a suggestion to you and to all fellow posters:
A) Fix the HIGH PRIORITY STUFF (Low Storage Warning + Word bug) and upload a V.3
[Up to you if you also want to add general enhancement stuff (that everybody would like to have anyway) such as the registry tweaks like GPS P9 Camera, "G" & "E" icons, increase block transfer size of SD card from 64 to 256, increase from 30 to 48 the sound quality in A2DP settings and set Joint Stereo to 0 instead of 1 etc. Having seen that several people get the “compimeh.0409.dat” error with Sprite Backup it would be very nice if you could fix that small bug too.]
B) Upload a V.4 LIGHT (without any applications). Upload at the same time a "CAB COLLECTION" (a package) with all the cool stuff/apps which you will include in the V.4 PRO.
C) Upload a V.4 PRO (with the stuff YOU decide to include taking into consideration the REASONABLE posts in this thread).
I believe that in this way you will MAKE VERY HAPPY 99% of us.... the remaining 1% (the "grumpy team").... well, these will never be happy whatever you do…. So don’t let them delay the great B&B PROJECT... :)
It would be nice to hear what you (Tom) personally think of this strategy and a comment from the fellow posters would be highly appreciated too.
Thanks to everybody,
SiperX

I hope you can bake two ROM, one is for device with GPS and one without GPS, because I hope I won't end up with flashing a ROM which has GPS where my device is not able to function such as I am using Dopod M700.
Hope you could finalize the V3 because the other request can end up at V4 :D

Hi kasperke,
Allow me to offer a small advice :)
In future posts it would be nice if you could refrain from using expressions like "this or that doesn't work on WM6" and kindly replace them with "this or that doesn't work on my WM6 device"... By doing so you can avoid spreading incorrect information and you will give others the chance to test (without fearing failure) on their devices some useful registry tweaks.
Having said that I hope that you will succeed to carry out this simple registry modification on your device and enjoy your GPS Camera functions.

Sorry, i mean that i have already did the registry tweak but it doesn't work in toms v2 rom wm6 (artemis)
i've read and read and read....:)
even imported some p9 registry tweaks and had a look with resco too see that it was enable (1)
now i see the gps-picture-icon on my screen and i can take pictures but my inside gps doesn't start (no blinking orange led). And yes i see in the exif tags of the pictures the extra tags for the geotag but it's all 0.00.0. etc
so it doesn.t works.
does anyone have it working in the new v2 rom from Tom?

I absolutely agree with SiperX !
maybe one more idea - LITE and/or barebone versions make only with english localisation, another localisations (german, dutch, french, ...) include only in PRO or better to make something like MULTILANGUAGE edition (in barebone versions plz preserve only regionall settings)
thanks a lot for your effort !

Thanks to everybody,
SiperX

Dear TOM,
It is quite obvious that B&B is THE REAL THING and I am ready to bet that every owner of a compatible device will tap on that rom till WM7 will come out.
As somebody wisely suggested earlier on: "you ask 100 people you get 100 different perspectives"... so if you continue asking around we will tap on V.3 under the Xmas tree... :D

SiperX, I have to say I absolutely agree with you.
The only must have things for me with the exception of service provider settings which I have a cab for would be a reg edit program, lets be honest we all add one straight away to most roms so we can tweak.
But spot on in suggesting without any of these as people prefer different software programs for same purpose, and people own licences for certain Items which would mean that they have to remove alternative items anyway.
and in my humble opinion installing cab files for our own preferences is straight forward and if that is a difficulty for someone then what are they doing upgrading ROMS
I also agree that TOM you have done a top job so far yes there mey be a few bugs but nothing that I cant handle, and to some point expect. The only real bug for me is the low memory. But it means I click ok, not such a hardship for a rom that is leagues ahead of the O2 shipped UK rom
thanks again.
Last but not least I havent seen a MUst have APP Topic for this device which many devices have had in the past. Maybe a thread should be started there and from that you can create the bundle of Cabs as mentioned by SiperX

Hey magpie2000k,
Happy to see that some reactions are popping up.... That's what FORUMS are for, right? :)
About the reg edit program... I see your point and I have noticed that some other posters mentioned that too.
I would assume that Tom and his team have intentionally chosen not to include in the B&B rom 3rd party programs which require registration (and will expire after the trial period if not registered) for obvious reasons.
We all know that decent registry edit programs are not freeware therefore we should be glad that this decision is left up to the individual user so that he/she can choose whether or not installing such an application and the make/brand remains his/her choice too.
I really hope that some more fellow posters will offer their opinion on this subject.... After all it looks like everybody is awaiting the new B&B release and I am sure that several people have something to say and some ideas to share... ;)
Thanks,
SiperX

Hey guys,
I'd also like to add my voice to SiperX's suggestions, sounds like the most reasonable approach to it. A light version would most certainly be appreciated by everyone in addition to the high priority fixes and tweaks. I hope Tom finds a way around this memory leak, fter all it is indeed the best rom out there and these are merely inconviences.
Thanks.

Another HTC app I find a must have for V3, the HTC Streaming Media .... to stream video, such as m.youtube.com.
The interface is Touch"y" and works nicely on V2 of your ROM (at least with Opera 8.65b). Here is the link to cab file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1323244&postcount=17

Hi, I would like a clean rom, keep it as closeto the original O2 stripped rom as possible but with the little bugs removed (memory issue for example).
I have tried your rom, bepes and PDAMobiz and I have noticed that the black and blue rom is a little more sluggish in its response time compared to the others. Mainly because of the extras and plugins.

problem with entering too much new stuff is the rom becomes bloated with stuff not everyone wants. Your in danger of creating a rom which has all the new software suggested but its not to everyones liking.
Clean rom is deffinatly the way forward with the other stuff maybe in my documents so we can install what we like.
A fully working rom is the first step though ;)

Hi Tom,
i wanna thank you for your work and making this rom for everyone. your work is great .
i readed this thread and i think the best v3 ROM will be a clean ROM.From what i see a alot of people prefer it in their own language! (dutch, german, danish and french)
So i suggest its better to make clean ROM with only important applications such as quick gps fix, a new phonepad and better wifi support..
take your time. Your are the best. :)

Hi all,
I'm not sure if anyone has raised this obvious point, but I would repeat it anyway to give it more power if anyone did.
In my opinion, the danger of packing too many apps to the cooked ROM is it will reside in your internal memory. While with cab installation files you can choose to migrate them to the SD card, leaving valuable space for other apps and device speed improvement.
I find Tom's B&B 2 is an excellent cooked ROM, but Tom has packed too many apps into it that I find unnecessary and will perhaps never use them because of other better software available.
So, Tom, this's why I support the idea proposed by SiperX about 2 variants of each ROM issuance, one is the LIGHT version with only OS together with cabs for extended apps, the other can be the FULL version for less techie users.

Hey BUSPBP,
You could not say this in a clearer way, thanks!
I would like to add that by following this strategy Tom will really please everybody: The more advanced as well as the less experienced users who will -as you said- most likely go for the B&B PRO version!
I really hope that Tom will listen to us and Tom (if you are out there reading this).... Whatever you'll end up doing for the newer version of B&B.... I want you to know that we are REALLY GRATEFUL... :)

AT a guess mate when its finished.
Not directed at you but if you read the previous thread on B&B v2 if Tom releases and it has bugs people just complain.
I would dearly like this new rom but I think we should all give Tom the time he needs to complete this to the best of his ability.
SiperX I again agree with you in the format mentioned he will indeed please everyone. I do have to ask why would people who need all the whistles and bells in a rom botha upgrading. I accept registry hacks etc might be complicated and risky but surely cab file instalation should be a minimum ability for any user upgrading Roms. Especialy when you can brick your DEVICE doing it if not done correctly.
TOM I am with SiperX on this and agree what ever you provide will indeed be tops and we will all be greatful. must say we might start worrying if your still alive if you dont answer us soon. LOL
Thanks again Tom

Hello Everybody,
We should not forget that Tom is VERY VERY BUSY doing his best to fix the (serious) issues which emerged in the B&B rom V.1 and V.2 and apparently sometimes soon a new V.3 might be released.
Please understand that if we all keep on asking him to make the rom in Swahili and Urdu and making the background color of the SMS notification in pale blue we are only getting on his nerves.
So I would suggest to all the fellow posters with a tickle for (low priority) requests to kindly think twice before posting... :)
Thanks for your understanding,

Thanks in advance. PS wouldnt it make sense for V3 to come with a donation requirement to the forum. dont think anyone would have a problem with a few $$$ and then it helps this stay alive. seen it done with SIM unlocking. JUST A THOUGHT
