Replace Internet Explorer with Opera in 3D Cube [Archive]

I'just changed Internet Explorer shorcut to Opera

You just need to do some changes in register

HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ApLouncher\App1_2

Change the "Name" value to "Opera"
Change the "path" value to your opera shorcut path "\Windows\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Opera Browser.url"

If you want to change the icon too, there is two way:

1. Change the "IconPath" value with the path to a new icon

or
2. Replace the .png file AL_02.png in \Windows with a new one (don't forget to save the original one.

I used the first choice : "\Windows\AL_opera.png"
You can download this icon here :

Then you should change the IconPressPath too with a specific icon.

nice going cyrilp, i've too manage to replace my favourite Opera Icon using your method #2 , but each time the cube slide to others page my default Icons (Globe) will be seen. i shall try your #1 method.

I try to change media page on the 3D menu/Biotouch which include of Music, Picture and Video by going through

HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\MediaHubMini\App1_2\Pat h

MediaHubMini\App1_1 = Music
MediaHubMini\App1_2 = Picture
MediaHubMini\App1_3 = Video

to change path from picture&video program to Resco Photo but unfortunately it not change at all. The only thing that change is name.

I'am sorry but the opera change with my opera mobile doesn't work for me !!!!
The icon appear good on the cube but when I click on , it open IE and no opera ????

I am not such this will work or not but just try it
try "patch : \windows\Menus démarrer\Programmes\Opera Browser.lnk"
Do not forget to soft reset once after you change the registry.

Excellent hack...good work. I download the beta mini 4 version yesterday but it's poor on the Touch, the damn keyboard is permanently on the screen!!! I love Opera but it has one massive flaw....you can only use it through WAP (per second charge) and not through any data bundle you may have on your phone line. I had the same shorcoming when running on my BlackBerry.

I also use opera mini 4 beta...
when you type the URL, remove the keyboard before you press OK... otherwise the keyboard stays on the screen...

I got the same problem on Rematching the Video icon. It runs the original program even you change the path.
It seems there are some more location to store the path.
Can anyone help?

Hmm... Do you think if we add another 'ApLouncher' key to the reg, a second App launcher page can be created? Any brave soul out there want to give it a go and report back? hahaha Would be nice if you can just add pages and put all apps there :P

Cant create more keys with the same name, so I dont think that will work ;-)
I did try adding keys inside the ApLauncher key 3_1 etc but that doesnt doe anything ;-)

They're freeware so I guess it's OK to use them.

This is great stuff :) But there is one flaw (I read it somewhere else already, but ill repeat in anyway.

The custom icons work (both highlight, and default) but when the cube is in rotation, the default icon appears again! This could be some other image we are missing, or some registry key maybe.

To kill some time I went and made some customizations as well :) I stuck with the HTC blue-ish silver-ish colors.

Edit:

Did some more digging, I found another image which is present on the cube also. Because I turned the calendar button to TomTom, I went looking for other images of the calender icon. There is an image called: HH_LAUNCHER_44x44_calendar.png It shows the calendar icon, but with a transparent background. I may have this wrong, but could this image be on the cube during rotation? Havent had the time to test yet, maybe someone can check this too?

Edit nr2 :P

The image is locked and cant be deleted or overwritten (not with the normal explorer at least ;)) Havent poked around using total command, but will try tomorrow.

Well, another question:
Is there a possibility to apply die new Icons/Strings to the Cube without restaring die Device? (e.g. restarting the Biotouch App)

EDIT:
Hm very strange. I copied the Icon in the Windows dir, but i think the background is a little bit darker than die original?!
And, when i slide the cube, it is shown die original Icon (the o2 com center). I think there is another Image of the wohle cube, which is displayed at a 3d
slide?!
EDIT 2:
Ah I see, each row has another brightness...
At my device, the Com Center was in row 2...

Ive been working a little on some more icons for the Touch cube. I took the PSD file from CyrilP (thanks mate! :)) and added my own icons to it. The PSD has layers for every row on the cube, and the icons on separate layers. You can then (using photoshop) save your own icons to the desired background (rows 1 to 3)

for the right/real opera icon in the cube there's a little cab file attached here so you don't need to edit registry and no need to copy images manually. it's all in there.... unzip, move over to touch and install there.

When I installed CM.11 I did it from the cab file and all links to the contact screens were updated to CM.11 with one exception (the add contact within outlook/sms).

Hi all!

I was customising my cube with new icons, all worked fine but i have 2 problems.

1. I can't change the icons on the "media" side of the cube(music, photos, video's).

2. If i rotate the cube, the rotation animation shows the previous icons(wich i overwrited). It seems that the animation uses another image or something.

Does anybody know about these problems and mayb have a fix for it.

I havent tried changing the media part, but I did change the program launcher icons and paths. On rotation, the default icons appear on the cube indeed. Ive been searching for images that might play a role in this, but havent found any so far :(

Hi, I have a issue here, can some one help me with this:
I have purchased a HTC Touch today and am very new to it. I pasted a Font (different language) in the windows\font folder as I had to read some document written in the language font, but as soon as I did that all the HTC menus have automatically started using that font.. I can't delete that font... How can I make HTC Menus to use some english font?

How many times would you ask the same question? From your previous question I said if you bought it today and don't have a backup your only option is to do a hard reset (factory reset) by start> settings>system>clear storage :D

Your P3600 should have came with a Tom Tom 6 CD anyway, I know mine did.

I only just saw your post - the problem is the version of Java which comes with the Touch. Just search for and install Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_Manager_11.1.7.1023.cab and use this for your Java apps like Opera Mini. Works very well indeed.

Opera Mini is great for compressing web pages - ideal if you pay for internet access by the MB like most of us do in the UK.

which contains all the icons I've collected or made from various people, here:

then save just the layers you need as a png file. You'l have to make a graduated background for them to fit the mediahub.
I haven't done any other versions of them I'm afraid but if you have Photoshop, it won't be a problem to adapt them.

i've a little problem. All works good about the icons but for that

That don't work, It don't find it. When i click Icon 's Opera, it launch IE.

I think about something, i change my home in Opera browser before to change all. Do you think , it is about that it can't launch Opera ?

My file browser is Gsfinder+
My Edit is Tascal regedit

Sorry, i found another way to launch opera.
In fact, i gone to settings in Opera browser and i clicked on "use Default"
This way appear: \carte mémoire\Application Data\Opera\startpage\home.html.
So i copy/paste in the path and now that's work.

Yes, i installed opera in my storage card, but i'm not stupid,when i saw this way
\Windows\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Opera Browser.url"
i wanted to change but it didn't want to find Opera Brower.url in my Touch; For that i thought about use default. Now, the only problem , it don't want to start to the Homepage i saved. Even if i said it, it start with Default.

Nevermind, this is not a true problem for the moment.

im using the 24-bit version of bmptobrn which is great. im having an issue though. i took example icons posted in here that were in png format and opened them with MS paint and saved them as 24-bit bmp. dropped them in the program to make brn's. i put them on my sprint Touch and the show up just fine and highlight fine but the actual pictures on the icon have lines going through them and are very blurry, the gray background is just fine. is there a reason why or is the formatting/extensions just done wrong?

I'm having the same problem customizing foto software into the touchflo cube.Changing to HTCAlbum in reg , also the default "Image and Video " is loaded each time.
Could you help me?

install the touch settings software from carlos_uk. with this app you'll get a patched mediahubmini.exe so that the standart picture viewer doesn´t load anymore.

is this easy to do..is there a walk through and is this guarantee to funciton because if i am halfway and get the wrong steps it might not be able to return to the start point .i dont want to mess up the phone

anyone? someone has to know i just need help on the formatting probably something isnt matching up. i got all the loading it up and stuff down just fine. just need to know why the brn image is all blurry now using a 24-bit bmp and converting it with the bmptobrn.exe file

You need to use 16 bit bmp files. Try this:

Sprint touch icons are different format. BmptoBrn wont work. Check this out for how to do it:

The PNG files will be able to be opened with Microsoft Paint. You must save them as 24bit BMP files and then convert them to BRN files.

Me too.

Another thing I'd like to have in the Cube is the screen Backlight toggle function that's in the HTC Home plugin launcher. The registry shows no path for that and so far I haven't been able to find another way to cycle through the backlight brighness values.
