Yes. VC 1.6 works perfectly and works with my bluetooth headset as well. I have a jabra 250. It is a little slow to come up if I am running a nav program like I guidance but otherwise it works fine.

Are your announcements working, like the announcements of incoming calls and reminders and reading of sms's. Mine doesn't work.

Most people have reported getting an error when installing VC on the Touch and then they find it has installed fine but I a wondering if the fact that announcement don't work is linked to the error.

Hi, I am really wanting to get this feature working but don't know if it is something I have not installed properly or a setting that needs to be changed, can someone tell me if their announcements are working in VC1.6.

I deleted the VoiceCommander because it did not work for me.

I installed an older version 1.1 and it worked fine. The discussion on that went through more than a year ago. The new version just too aggressive trying to recognize voice in general and became not practical. Version 1.1 requires you program everyone you want to call, it is a pain but still useful and better than nothing.

I am not really sure of the program you are talking about but I am talking about Microsoft Voice Command v1.6 the first version was V1.5.

Yes it came installed on mine to but you have to record a voice tag for every person in your contacts that you want ring, thats the way I thought it operated, voice command you do nothing, it just works from scratch and recognizes you voice for all your contacts, when I get a new PPC Phone it is the first piece of software I install, microsoft should have included it with WM6 as standard.

CL55
08-07-2007, 02:55 PM
No... You DON'T have to record any voice tag at all, it works just fine without it. Unless you want the person's voice tag to be special.. For instance, by default if you say "Call Tim" it will bring up Tim's contact info and ask you which number (mobile, home etc) to call...

I understand now which program you are talking about, I got really excited as I thought MVC 1.6 was the only program that you didn't have to program voice tags but I was wrong so I tried Cyberon Voice Commander v2 and set it up in the setting but when I try to load it in programs it says "Device Not Supported" Has anyone got this to work on there Touch from an install?

As I already said I tried to install Cyberon Voice Commander on the Touch and it wouldn't work so I emailed Cyberon and they emailed me back with :

Dear Sir,

Yes our CVC supports to run on Touch.
However, CVC is currently preloaded in the device by the manufacturer, we are not able to provide a stand-along version.

We suggest you contact with htc for the request.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other inquiry.

Best Regards,
Cyberon

So my question is, is it possible to extract that program out of the rom of a touch so it can be install on touches without this software, I only got the poverty software in my Touch (Cyberon Voice Speed Dial)

Wonder how many contacts in your address book. Can it tell the difference between John Chen and John Chan and John Chang? Let alone they each has two mobiles, home, and office in U.S. Taiwan and China.

Don't give me the BS this thing work perfectly.

Microsoft Voice Command Works fantastic....but it depends on the version you choose. If you are British, the UK version is more for you...if you speak in a more generic US style, then the US version is for you.

For most people it works fine straight away. Just say "Call John Chan"....and it will ask you "Call John Chan on Mobile, office or Home?"...then say "Mobile"...or even "Cell" will work. You must speak clearly.....when you speak, does your Chan and Chang sound differently? You could of course also learn to speak it the way your phone can understand....

I use it a lot to call up contacts.....I say "Show Jason Chia" and it will immediately show the contact.....no messing with the interface at all!

Is Your phone a touch or something else, sorry I am from australia, I don't know what your phones are in America. The reason I ask is I want to know if the announcements are working on the Touch, I have installed both UK & US versions and in both versions the announcements don't work.

Not everyone has so many Chen or Chan in their address book, and if you do, you can always record your own voice tag instead of the default. Like I said, it's working perfectly fine for me and if you have a problem with it, fine! Don't come insulting people saying what's BS and what's not!

If you want to start crap, go back to your own little place to do it, people here are just trying to share and help each others out!

Come on Kids, you will be sent to your rooms if you can't act your ages, the actual forums is about Voice command working on the Touch not how you personally rate the program, although a separate thread could be start on that subject.

Has anyone got announcements working on there HTC Touch using the MVC Program???

Ok, fine.. I might have been a little jumpy with the insult thingy, let's start over.

Seal - I just installed MVC on mine just to check, and nope, no appointment announcement.

Jychan28 - Just becasue it doesn't 'work' for you, it doesn't have to mean it's not working for others. And I honestly don't think my comment qualify as BS. There is a reason why they let you record specific voice tag for each contact. If you have duplicates of John Chen/Chan from different places, can't you not just assign different voice tag to say like 'John from ABC' etc? Seems to me like a solution doesn't it?

I don't think you'd get any positive response if you call their tech support and tell them your 'problem'. And I doubt there're any voice regonition software out there that can identify your 'problem' perfectly right now.

When I said it's working for me perfectly, I meant it can perform decently under normal circumstances, fair enough? Please do not tell me it's BS.

There, better?

In the settings for MVC have you gone to each heading (Appts, Announcements etc.) and individually set them to always announce via speaker and/or handsfree? It won't do it automatically.

Hello to all.
I purchased MVC 1.6 when I received my Touch.
Here is what I have discovered.
My email and all announcments work fine. My caller ID does not announce.
I talked to HTC support & they said it was because the unit is looking for a +44 or somthing like that. Then I looked at the VC requirements.
They state very clearly that you must have a software build number lower than than the one they post. My HTC Touch software build # is much higher than the one they post....
BTW There is a great button mapper program called AE Button Plus. Works great on the Touch.
If anybody gets lucky with Caller ID announcements please let me know.
Fred

Can anyone please tell me how he got MVC to work with bluetooth activation support. MVC works on my Touch, but I can't activate it from my bluetooth headset or carkit? Since it worked perfectly on my Wizard WM6, I'm so used to MVC!

I got my Sprint Touch today. Installed MSVC 1.6 and assigned it to a long press of the camera button. Turned it on with the features I wanted to use. The first few times I tried, I was able to make a call with my BT headset as I had with my PPC 6700, but after those few times, it wouldn't work. MSVC would come on, I'd issue the command, it would confirm it (over BT), I would answer yes, and then MSVC would just turn off instead of dialing the number. I reset the phone turned BT on and off and turned the headset on and off (and tried 3 different headsets), same results. If I use the camera button, it works fine, but not with the headset button. And, as I had expected, in all cases, the caller ID didn't announce (either to the phone speaker or the BT headset).

I can live without (and expected to) the caller ID annoucement, but really need to make calls using the headset button to initiate MSVC. Any thoughts?

I've got Microsoft Voice Command v 1.60.4622.0 and when I tried to install it the first time, there was an error that popped up and it did not work. I then discovered the bundled crap voice software that came with the Touch and uninstalled it. After I did that, I reinstalled MVC and it works flawlessly. The only thing it doesn't do is announce calls, appointments, etc ... not a huge deal. Not sure why it doesn't work but making calls it works perfectly and that's the feature I wanted the most.

Anyone know why announce doesn't work? I changed it to 'Announce notifications through device speaker or wireless headset only' under the Announce button ....

Before I even installed MSVC I turned off the default voice speed dial -- I don't see a way to uninstall it though -- how'd you do that? I still have the problem if it cutting off after the voice confirmation via BT -- can't seem to find the cause of that.

CMeys
07-11-2007, 03:03 AM
Thanks, disabling the confirmations worked -- that is as long as it doesn't need to ask for more info (like when it asks home, mobile or work) -- then it still dies out. At least an improvement.

The caller id annoucement seems to be much more of a complicated issue. There are assorted fixes around for it for the PPC 6700 and the Mogul, but they don't seem to work on the Touch.

I am on a Sprint Touch.

I just say call "name""at home" or"at work"all at once....
This seem like a common issue with the Touch
Sprint is CDMA too?
you would think that WM6 is WM6,instead of so many variants,I was excited getting VC to work ,instead of kinda half assed.....seems like a lot of work to make a bought app to work properly, same as trying to change the cities from the preloaded weather list,c'mon..York Canada?Even the Telu$ Rep didnt know where it was located(Ont.?)If I may ask, what was your default area code in yor contacts settings?Mine was 425 (Washington)

CMeys

I usually say it all at once too, but occasionally I forget that the contact has more than one number.

Yes, Sprint Touch is CDMA.

is there a possibility to assign a key to VC that is not in you Start => settings => buttons list?

cbus
07-11-2007, 04:13 PM
you can assign different buttons and length of press on buttons to launch programs. You need a button mapping program installed on your touch. Do a search as there are many of them.

You can also assign the softkeys at the bottom of the screen which say calendar and contacts. There are plenty of free apps out there which do this as well.

As far as vc - I have everything working except confirmation and caller id.

Notification announcements of email and sms are working fine. You need to go to start-settings-voice command then highlight the "phone" option. Click on options and there you will see an unchecked box to announce notifications. Click this then do a soft reset and all should work.

I'm having the exact same issue. Received new HTC Touch, installed VC 1.6, disabled Voice Speed Dial.

I can hit the BT headset button, speak "Call NAME, mobile" but the "yes" or "correct" just disconnects. "Call NAME", "mobile", same problem.

Anyone have any ideas? I have tried the registry HKLM\Software\OEM\Voice Command\VoiceCmdDuration to 30 that I've seen elsewhere...no change.

CMeys

The problem with it turning off after the confirmation can be fixed by turning off the confirmtions.

The caller ID announcement can be fixed using a patch posted in a different thread here for the Mogul. Look at the voice command fix here http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/mogul-ppc-6800-xv-6800-wiki/88357-mogul-ppc-6800-xv-6800-wiki.html

Is it possible that someone brings all information on how to get MSVC to work at one place in the Elf-XDA-Wiki. It would be very nice if someone has the knowledge to put all modifications/tweaks in a CAB file for easy use. I tried already some, but nothings seems to activate the BT button...
