I installed the AT&T rom available on their site and now my pop3 email accounts don't work. I have one on a friends server and another on Gmail and both give me errors now when i try to download mail.

I get the Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device error.

Any ideas?

is it possible to get blackberry connect to work with this rom? I tried and could not get it to work. I've read about people hexediting the version numbers of wm6 roms to get it working. is this the issue with this new att rom also?

I am back on the previous rom now and it is working fine.
I tried running the no proxy cab on the new rom to no avail.
thanks,
wes

outgoing mail: mail.crews.com:587
I vaguely recall someone having a similar problem with accounts that use non-standard SMTP ports. There's a thread for the 2.15 ROM... may have read it there.

Port 25 still needs to be open on that mailserver, otherwise inbound email wouldn't be coming into it. Port 587 is just used for people who cannot use SMTP due to their ISP blocking port 25, but port 25 on the server itself still needs to be open as that's where it receives inbound email. So take off the :587.

Just for giggles I verified for you that the standard SMTP port is open on the server:

telnet mail.crews.com 25
Trying 66.194.214.163...
Connected to mail.crews.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 mail.crews.com running EIMS X 3.3
quit
221 2.0.0 mail.crews.com closing connection
Connection closed by foreign host.

HOWEVER, you have never said if the problem is with sending or with receiving email. This setting has nothing to do with receiving email, only with sending.

I said the error was messages cannot be downloaded to the device. But to confirm, the error is that messages never download to the device and I get an error.

Either way, fix what I stated above. It may be that the device is failing during the send/receive because of your configuration problem and giving up altogether.

Change that. No luck. It still gives me the same error.
