How do I use this VOIP / Internet Calling? I was looking through HELP and it says there's a tab on Phone Options however, I don't see the Internet Tab.

In this case, how can I use it?

Thanks.

Download the WM6VoIP.cab from ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Hermes/WMXL_Support_Files/WM6VoIP.CAB and install it on your Touch. Then download and install Sip Config Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303493) and run the tool on your phone (Start - Programs). Fill out your VoIP provider's settings and save. Now do a soft-reset and you should now have "Internet Calling" on your Today screen. Tap on it and select "Whenever Available" and connect to WiFi. On mine it says only "Searching" but it still works. Just go to the dialpad and it should state your VoIP's provider name (or whatever you put in Sip Config Tool) instead of your network operator. Disable WiFi to call using your network operator or tap on the "Internet Calling" option on your today screen and select never.

Hope this helps!

I thought WM6 comes bundled with VOIP feature? How come I have to download an addon? Installed the addon but it says service blocked.

yes,it has the voip feature in rom, but it's disabled by default in most roms.
this cab adds this functionality. try to check your sip settings maybe password and user...

actualy it's not that bad...
the loudspeaker in my sip provider, has a low volume, but if i use it as a normal earpiece it's more than acceptable.... ;) then my phone becomes double sided, front side for gsm calls and back for voip.
all comes down to the point of view ;)

Hi,

I have SIP working using SJPhone but it doesn't work using the wm6 built in SIP feature. I get a voice message from the phone provider (I guess) saying that I am using the wrong number (although I dial the same number than with SJPhone).

any idea ?

do I really have to use 3rd party software to configure the SIP ? doesn't the WM6 comes with the settings program?

no, i believe MS left that to the mobile operators to config (most telecoms have wireless hotspots around the country).

use the one in this forum. Works great...

VOIP odd stuff...

Ive been hacking on this wm6 voip stuff for a while, and finally decided to load x-lite for the pocket pc, as I have it for the pc and it seems to work fine.

I ran it, entered my vitals, and it logged in. I tried dialing a number, and got a wierd error... 404 not found. I did notice that when I dialed a number, the number followed by @allo.com appeared on my screen (allo.com is my voip provider). So, for the hell of it, i tried my voip number and it worked. The problem is that I was adding a 1 in front of the numbers I was dialing.

So, now if I can only get wm6 to work...

Its really bad a phone with wlan feature without a 100% work voip client and speaker. I think Nokia has with N95 the better voip phone over wlan.

Don't know if your question was answered already, but for VoipStunt at least from my PPC I need to dial 001+10 digit number, whereas on SJPhone I just dial 1+10 digit number.

Hi!

I Use Fring to make Voip calls. I Have a Hp514 and HTC touch and it works great. Don't use the WM6 voip manager, because is harder to configure an SIP provider, with fring the program get the config automatic!

I found that the CUSTEL voip cab made the today screen behave correctly.

However, I have other problems with my voip so I can't confirm if it works fully in other respects:

It is really unsolvable problem to control audio on VOIP client? It seams that this is big obstacle for many people to use buil in VOIP functionality.

On a related subject -- I have installed both Skype and Fring on my AT&T Tilt and am experiencing truly horrible, unusable sound quality with both applications. I'm running WiFi, have plenty of memory, and have stopped all other programs. Do I need to configure VOIP per this thread to have a usable system? Or is there maybe some other problem causing this? Thanks...

Hi, I have got the VoIP Interent calling showing as "Available" on my home screen, but my question is, how the heck do I make an outgoing call using SIP? I have tried using full international codes, etc. but the calls always seem to have my GSM number and not my SIP outgoing number on the caller ID on the recieving phone!?

I would really like a simple ability to choose between the two without the need for complex 3rd party software.

Good tip. Fring with Gizmo SiP works well.

Ok, mine works with the instructions provided in this thread, however:
VSP status is wrong. 'Searching' actually means 'connected' and 'available' means disconnected.
I can switch from VoIP to GSM by tapping the status area on the 'Today' page. No visual feedback from this, other than possible a change in signal strength.

Volume is too low to be useful. :(
It comes from the front speaker though.

I would love to hear a fix for this.

Hi all,

I tested the voip integrated in the WM6, installing sip config tool 2.0.1 and voip.cab.
It is working fine, the voice quality is perfect except for the incoming calls, the called user cannot hear me in the conversation.
I use Elastix SIP Server.

Thanks to Shaun, the programmer of sip config tool :)

Hi everybody,

I have tested some WM6VOIP.Cab to get integrated SIP working but the volume is too low (WM6voip.cab) and /or the called user cannot hear me. (custel voip.cab)

I read something on this forum about values to change in the registry but impossible to find them again.

Have you some tips to solve this problem please ?
Thanks in advance.
