Anyone heard anything more about the WM6 upgrades for the S620 that HTC was supposed to put out in the May/June timeframe? There's not much time left in that "frame" - was hoping to hear something by now. I'd prefer to not have to mess with trying to put the TMo ROM on there.

Anybody joined the HTC eClub?

I think they are gonna distribute the WM6 that way, since I can't register my Dash there I can't confirm. Can someone with a S620 sign up and see if the update is available now?

No updates other than some audio driver. This is really getting annoying.

Does anyone know if the VoIP feature will be included with this HTC release? (I'm talking about internet calling if nobody knows what I'm talking about.)

Below is an email I just got from HTC:

The Windows Mobile 6 update will roll out from June. The provisional date for the S620 is believed to be in September. We have no more accurate information than that and as it is a provisional schedule, it is possible that if any last minute problems are encountered in the final testing phase, it may be delayed.

Thank You for your enquiry. Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html

Kind regards

It's getting worse now... I just called them again to complain, and they said that the june timeframe reffered to 'information on the upgrade to WM6' and not the upgrade itself... They told me that they expect the update now mid-september....

Too bad there is no real competition on the market. Otherwise I would switch now. This is pissing the customer in the face.
I really love my S620 it's great hardware but not sure if I can hold out with WM5 too much longer.

I called their support line on Tuesday (July 3) and the gentleman on the phone told me to expect the WM6 update around late July. I don't think they know for sure.

If I knew how to clean a rom of all that T-Mobile garbage I'd upgrade to WM6 using the T-Mobile rom. :)

So, just to amuse myself (and possibly others), I called HTC's hotline again, asking when WM6 comes out for the S620. The gentleman on the phone read me the email that was sent out to the phone support folks about WM6, and it went a little something like this:

"WM6 is a big OS upgrade, and all new HTC devices are using WM6, so basically HTC is tailoring the WM6 upgrades for each of their devices that support the upgrade. The Sprint MDA upgrade for WM6 came out 2 days, however, HTC will be releasing the WM6 upgrade for the S620 at the end of July, but no later than the middle of August."

<sarcasm>
In summary, HTC is aware of our concerns and doesn't contradict themselves.

Tell them T-mobile already has released WM6 and since the device is actually made by HTC its absolutely ridiculous that T-mobile can tailor the device quicker than HTC can.

The Cavalier is out this month so I can see alot of people ebaying their S620 and going for the much more powerful S630, probably what HTC are hoping anyway and why they are delaying the update. Furthermore they probably didn't sell as many of the Vox as they would have liked because people realised that the Excalibur/Caviliar form factor is so much nicer.

Yes but the T-Mobile WM6 ROM is crap.

I have it on my Dash. It is full of bugs and memory leaks. I am waiting to HTC to release the S620 WM6 ROM, then I'm going to buy an S620 and ditch my Dash.

Give them time to get it right and not hastily release a buggy ROM.

This is very disappointing. I hope this is not the case with all the said upgrades.

htc is delaying it for 1 reason because they what people to get fed up and by a new phone with wm6 built in. EXAMPLE: htc x7500 which has wm5 and htc x7501 has wm6. now you can already buy the x7501 at CompUSA for $899 just check if you dont believe me. but wm6 upgrade for x7500 won't be out untill september, makes no sense to me ;)

July 30 and August 10th are the dates.

HTC S620 - August 10th and to be downloaded from the HTC site.

Cannot give you guarantees, however, I know that from good source.

I thnk you can forget about this upgrade, to be left at t-mo only. Developers have hard time adjusting to old hardware, t-mo rom is just a (half-sucessful) test did 6 months ago

I'd like to see myself disputed, though..

hi guys....is it safe to load the T-MOBILE wm6 upgrade on an HTC S620 unlocked unbranded? does it work?

The T-Mobile ROM works fine on the HTC s620/s621. My phone is SIM and CID unlocked and the ROM applied with no problems.

The ROM is fast and stable. The only thing I have not managed to figure out is whether I can get the slider to revert to being a navigation tool as it was on the HTC ROM ... on the T-Mobile ROM it's a volume control only.

This ROM is not the beta test done 6 months ago ... this is a ROM based on the final WM6 code (I have checked with an internal Microsoft build and the versions numbers are the same).

HTC is just dragging their feet.

I have the WM6 Tmobile ROM on my dash and I think its buggy as hell:

Memory leaks - leading to low memory warnings.
Alarm keeps re-occurring
Time zone update does not work corectly
Items missing form profiles
etc

Yup, I agree.
Now, it works, for the most part, and it's pretty stable, but by no means as good as the T-Mo WM5 was.
1) I think the "Memory Leak" everyone is talking about is to do with the way the cache is set up. Still, it's badly implemented - if I start the Camera app after I've used the phone for a couple of hours, then it will tell me it needs more memory.....
2) Profiles are shot to hell. Yes, we can fix it, but why should we have to?
3) T-Mo's implementation of POP/Imap e-mail. Can only set "work" or "The Internet" as connection settings in the e-mail client. Can only set "The Internet" in Activesync Exchange Server settings. (By the way, it's this way on the BlackJack as well, folks). Again, yes, we make it work - but why should we need to?
These are my three biggest gripes....
Come on HTC, where is your "generic" WM6.........

I phoned the helpdesk in the UK today for the release of WM6.The HTC person says the release will be in the middle of september, and you also have to be a member of the e-club to download the file.
I hope this helps anyone in advance.

I just spoke with a phone support guy at HTC and he said the WM6 upgrade will be out in 2 or 3 months. I feel like Mobile Planet lied to me to get me to purchase this s620.

Guy, you got me laughing,(LOL), but you are telling the truth! If you don't have T-Mo's wm6 Rom on your device, then don't waste you installing BUGS on you device...........!(LOL):D
