I used to be a Uni owner and thought this has been discussed to death on the Uni forum, the conclusion being that people had tried sdhc drivers to no avail. As I understand it the point with sdhc is that it needs a different reader - i.e. different hardware (a;beit that it is backwards compatible). Replacement drivers are not enough.

Perhaps some like Midget could confirm?

Yes, But Look At Treo 650? It Is Old Machine Too, And I Think That Has Old Reader With No Usb 2.0.and Now It Support 8gb Sdhc. Someone Do Driver And Now It Support Sdhc. Only One Problem Is Reader, Because, Cpu Is Same. Usb 2.0 Has Bigger Bus Speed And That Can By Reason To Unfunction On Uni. If You Have Some Tread About It, Send Me Please Shotcut

The discussions were all on the Uni thread - try searching there on SDHC

It doesn't work. It really has been discussed to death.

SOME 4GB cards work in Universal, but they aren't SDHC (or especially reliable).

SDHC=different hardware. Universal does not have SDHC.

Athena has SDHC.

Whatever the Treo 650 does, it's unrelated to what the Universal/Athena can do.

Are you shure?
Just read this: http://www.sdcard.org/sd_memorycard/Simplified%20Physical%20Layer%20Specification.PDF

it isn't new hardware, mostly new drivers are needed (eg the treo 650)

in the universal's case it seems that new drivers are not enough and a new firmware is needed, which isnt avaliable and, without jtag, couldnt be used anyway.

sorry, no SDHC for universals :(

There was no firmware update for Universal?
Why JTAG?
IMHO, all you need is to add 3 DLLs to Windows directory(with signature) and change some registry keys...

Why on earth do you think that what you need to add in your opinion is going to fix something that the many extremely experienced developers on this forum haven't managed?

From what Midget is saying, I think that what I'm thinking of as "hardware" and him as "Firmware" is the same thing; there's some low-level stuff on the Universal and this is a component level firmware hack.

i.e. NOT a new build of the ROM/Windows, but something more akin to the BIOS on a PC.

Anyway, you should pursue this in the Universal section; Athenas support SDHC.

What he said:

Also about 'your honest oppinion': dont you think that hasnt been tried before? ;)

see on Simplified Physical Layer Specification point 4.2.3 cartd initialization.

I think, that only difference between uni and ahtena is reader. Athena has 2.0 and uni 1.1 standart. I open some usb 2.0 reader to pc and there is one cip and clock generator. 2.0 has only faster transfer for sdhc. When insert sdhc card, hcs bit is set to 1, sd card set it to 0. if i set hcs to 1 and set lower sdhc class speed, it can work. But i dont know where. Where is hcs bit? in registry? mayby. But athenas registry and dll can be help

Hi, I just bougth 8GB Toshiba class 4 SDHC card
after install SDHC.cab, my universal can see only 3.5GB of data, but My PC can see up to 7.5GB.

I copy data over 3.5GB from my PC and check in my universal, i found that it sees the data folder and name, but once I click on the file, it said the file does not exit. I try on PC, the result is no problem.

I have been trying to find the way to partition my new SDHC card to 2 drive hoping it will solve this problem, but so far have no luck.....

Can anyone help me out ?

Thanks so much

You might like to try asking in the Universal forum.

....Actually, have just checked and this is your third identical post!!!

The latest Universal roms (eg: laurentius26) DO support sdhc in the universal.
Have a look in the universal WM6 forum.
