yes i suppose, but at the moment there isnt a use for the program yet because not very many people one. besides, it's the htc brand that some people have, not a carrier brand, wouldnt it already be unlocked?

Peter,
As I pointed you to this thread I assume you are asking me :-) I'm not quite sure what you need help with.

As mentioned in the first post send a PM to tupisdin and ask for details. (click on Tupisdin in the 'title block' of the first post then select send a PM)

If you're uncertain to wait for a free unlocker, only you can decide how urgently you need the unlock :-)

SO this is just a SIM_Unlocker only correct NOT a CID_Unlocker? At this point there is only 1 provider seling the Kaiser T-mobile in Europe I belive and they have the same rom for download.

Let's get this straight...

The ROM in your sig sits in the HTC TyTN II
There is a slightly different ROM in the T-Mobile UK MDA Vario III
They are both Kaisers

It's not locked to telenav...all reports have shown Tilt's GPS works fine with googlemaps, tomtom, etc...just that it comes BUNDLED with TeleNav crap b/c of AT&T's agreement with them.

what, and I suppose it's just going to code itself is it?

you have no idea how much of a complete bunch of bastards HTC have been this time round with the radio locks.

your best bet is someone like tupisdin who's got the factory locks list.

Even Imei doubt of they can do it. So you can count it is a problem this time :-( and it can takes a long time before there is a solution...!

Hello,
Tytn III you mean? Nope not yet and not sure if we will release an unlocker for it yet.

When I wrote that the T-Mobile UK MDA Vario III had been available for at least 4 days, first people got it on th 28th! Now whether there's a ROM available or not is another matter...

I was just referring to your statement:"... only one release ROM from HTC the one in my SIG that should be the ROM on all Kaisers right now ...", which was factually incorrect at that time. But, hey, let's not waste energy on trivial stuff like this, ok? :)

Has anyone actually paid to have theirs unlocked yet? and can confirm it unlocks ok. I do not have a problem paying for my phones to be unlocked if the price isnt silly like the above link, 70 euros nearly to unlock it on T-Mobile UK where everyone else is mostly 30 euros, I know its a new phone and all but fuck thats a steep amount to pay.

This is my first post so I guess I might as well make it a dumb noob one. I want to make sure I understand SIM unlocks before doing surgery on my new phone so I have a few questions I couldn't find answers to in the Wiki and other threads. Thanks!

1. If I've obtained a SIM unlock code is it uniquely tied to a single phone, or to a specific phone model, or to any phone from that operator?

2. If I intend to both install a different ROM via HardSPL and use the SIM unlock code is the order I do them in important?

3. Is the SIM unlock persistent across future ROM upgrades and other mods?

Thanks and sorry for such boneheaded questions.

Deathace
09-10-2007, 12:19 PM
As I understand it for this particular thread so far the sim unlock is IMEI based and as such makes that unique to your handset only (otherwise everyone would give it out :) ) In regards to most sim unlock programs/services they are unlocked regardless of the rom you use, however some of them do sim lock it again after flashing (where you can just unlock it with the code/program again)

In regards to upgrading at present the cid unlock should be sufficient to change roms without it affecting the sim lock so the order should not matter.

Don't count on it!

As far as I know (almost) all SIM locks are IMEI based...
This doesn't mean one SIM unlocker works for all SIM locks...

I can't see there being that many people with more than 500 handsets wanting imei-check to unlock them all...

Who knows how much truth there is in this - do they even have a working solution?!?!?!?

Wow, does anyone search any more?

posted this elsewhere and its documented by others all over.

SIM unlock is very easy. And legal. And actually done by AT&T. And essentially free.

Step 1: Call AT&T @ 1-(916)-843-4685, tell them you travel alot internationally. Ask them to to add the "International Dial" add on to your account (it costs like $6/month). (Note: the reason the number is not a 800 number is because it asumes you are calling from an int'l location, since its their int'l support line. 800 numbers don't work from an int'l location. You can even call the normal 800 # or even call 611 from your phone, and you can get routed to the int'l support line. I recommend you call from a separate line, so you can actually type in the unlock code when they give it to you to confirm it "takes" before you hang up. If you have another company SIM card, you can even test it with them on the phone)

Edit: Actually, they do have an 800 number for intl support now also. It's: 1-800-335-4685

Step 2: Tell them you also travel for extended periods of time and might need to use a local SIM in your phone. And you need an unlock code to do it. Since you have the international plan, they almost always will oblige. (if they don't, hang up, call back, get another rep, and ask again. They will eventually do it)

Step 3: They ask for your IMEI number. And they give you an unlock code.

Step 4: Say thanks to them

Step 5: Go online to your account manager, and remove the Int'l Plan on your features page to cancel it. You will only be charged a pro-rated amount for the feature.

Step 6: Enjoy your SIM unlocked phone.

What are you talking about? I am a AT&T user and I can call AT&T for unlock code.

Perhaps you might like to "steal" something with no value at it, but put the arrow in other direction plz.

Thanks Jomo25... I have actually tried this method before with Cingular (before the AT&T buyout) and got the run around several times, so I was just curious about this one user's experience. I am very familiar with the search function but had a specific question for this member.

FWIW, Cingular's explanation to me when I tried this previously was to just enable the international calling plan so I could roam internationally at discounted rates, they did not want to give me an unlock code (and the rep I spoke to was either playing dumb about what an unlock code is or was instructed to avoid the topic).

I haven't tried since the AT&T buyout so I'll give it a shot again and see what happens.

Cheers.

I got locked out after trying to run the original HTC ROM. Quite happy with it -praying for every seconds. It works just fine apart from locking me out from the network. Same problem as Aaron's first post.

Rang Orange yesterday after signing up for the contract, they said unlock code wont be released until ur 12wks into the contract:eek: , at the cost of 20quid plus 10 days waiting. :(
Aaron, what did you tell them on the phone?

Besides I really want the original HTC interface/ROM. Much cleaner, less space on the storage memory and seems faster. So I'd rather stick with it. Just the phone function is f***ed.

Plus Orange doesnt offer anything close to Tmob regarding internet usage. Besides it always connects onto the 3G without letting me disable this function.

Any genious advice? This is a great forum. Thanks.

I have flashed my Orange TyTN II with HTC rom. Although I use the Orange sim card on the orange TyTN II phone, the sim lock remain.

The HTC Rom does not remove the simlock - but you were still able to use the Orange Sim with the flashed Rom

If you want to use another SIM you need to make a donation through Tupisdin

No when you buy a Vario III and you put in a different Sim (not T-mobile) the machine is asking for the unlock code when you have that code from Tupisdin, you can put in this code and it is unlock and you can use it with any (brand) sim in the future...

All,

If you have ordered an AT&T Tilt, and want to use it on a NON AT&T network, there are at least three VERIFIED and simple methods for SIM unlocking your phone.

Do not confuse SIM unlock (ability to use non AT&T SIM Card) with CID unlock (ability to run non AT&T ROM).

Below are the three techniques I was able to successfully confirm as working. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONCE. I am just summarizing different techniques which are confirmed as working for folks trying to find a SIM unlock solution for their phone.

Method A - Call AT&T International customer service: 1(916)-843-4685 - When you call they WILL ask you for your AT&T phone number. I used a friends phone number and account information (with his permission) and they gave me an unlock code after about 3 minutes of being on hold. They were very friendly and there was NO CHARGE.

Method B - Donate to this forum and get an unlock code from tupisdin, many folks have done this with success and no complications.

Method C - Use www.cell-unlock.com : Pay a $25 fee via PayPal and recieve your code within 24 hours. I used this before calling AT&T and recieved the same unlock code (as I would expect) as AT&T gave me.

I've had my Tilt running on T-Mobile for a little over a week now and am very pleased with it compared to my old MDA.

I bought a tilt yesterday and signed a 2 year plan. I called tonight and they refused to give me an unlock code. I was very polite with them on the phone. They said that its 90 day wait time from signing up with them now before they will give you the code. This sucks. I am leaving for europe in 3 days and cant use this phone on a prepaid sim. I guess since I have till tommorrow on the 3 day return policy ,I will just return the phone and go back to tomobile who gives them out without the hassle.

This is crazy. We are asked to make a donation and then when you do you are told it should be $50.00. Has this become a money-making venture? I think you are quite confused - what some member asks you to do in exchange for his service is quite different from what the site is/does. The site is absolutely NOT telling you to do anything. So, "NO" nobody is going to *TELL* someone to give you a code....

Seems like USD 50 was mentioned earlier in the thread, so I'm not even sure that should be a surprise....

You know I am all about donations to this site but I think I will have to agree with some here that not everyone has that kind of money. Basically, one should set a minimum (say, $20) in terms of a donation but urge everyone to donate, as much as they can. There really should be no compulsion to donate although it is nice to have the unlock code as an incentive.

Having said all of the above, I do have a Tilt and I will try with AT&T first to get it unlocked. However, if I do have to spend money to unlock my phone, I will never give it to these losers on eBay or any other money-making outfit. I would much rather send a little extra to this site.

Just my 'two cents'.

The Donation this not for tupisdin - for xda.
Nobody does not force you to do donation.
Turn to operator or execute its contract.
Not to whine- If you not agree-search for other place.

You have done that or for xda-developers society?
The Programs or utilities for all - unlock ,roms etc?
I think if you developer for free -you have got unlock code from tupisdin without donation.
The Donation 20-30-40-50$ much? You use the knowledges -but you greedy to do the donation.

That's too bad, but perhaps you should have tried a second time. He was probably busy or missed your PM. It happens.

Perhaps Tupisdin should set up a seperate email addy just for Kaiser unlock code requests? That way it will be easier to manage.

Once again, no one is putting a gun to your head. However, I disagree with the high amount of the minimum donation, especially in light of the fact that it used to be (apparently) $30, and now seems to have jumped to $50, in light of popular demand. One should stick to just a single number for the sake of consistency.

but soon there will be a free version...there always is for everything. probably soon after the kaiser comes out.

Still no unlocker for the Artemis... Since 2006.

XDA-Developers lost a lot of good researchers... Like buzz, mamaich, etc.
pof is very busy and I think that the other guys (like Olipro) don't have enough experience with unlocking.
Plus, XDA-Developers earns a lot of money with the "imei-check"-shopping-system hidden in a "donation" jacket.
(For the guys who still didn't understand, this isn't a website for free SIM-unlockers anymore
and by "donating" XDA developers mean "paying" for the unlock code.)

Oh for the love of gawd, I could say "Donate money to xda-developers and I'll send a girl over to do anything you want." and by that "logic" you'd say xda-developers.com was suddenly a brothel.

What one person (who is NOT associated with xda-developers afaik) asks has NOTHING to do with what the site is. Saying that "Person Y asks for a donation to the site, so the site is now a commercial enterprise" is frankly asinine.

IMO, this has always been way MORE than a "website for free SIM-unlockers", so if that's all you wanted and all you ever cared about, go and good riddance to you.

If I actually WANT to stay using my orange SIM card (cos i'm on a contract from work), and I've applied POF CIDUnlocker (all good for me), do I need a SIM Unlocker as well in order to flash my ROM with a non-Orange Cooked ROM or will it work with just the CID Unlocker?

You can try, but chances are it won't work for the reasons you have indicated. If you have AT&T service, why not just call them yourself and tell them that you're going to be headed overseas and you need the unlock code?

I've never had an issue when I've needed to do that, but then again I've been an AT&T/Cingular customer for around 4 years.

If you have an ATT service, just call them up. All I had to do was provide them my IMEI number and I just got my unlock code yesterday. I just need to find a non-ATT SIM card to apply the unlock code now. :)

I've got AT&T Tilt as present (gift from my friend). But it seems to be locked to AT&T service provider. As you can see I live FAR away from US, so need some help unlocking it. Anyone from US with AT&T contract can do a favor for me - call AT&T and get unlock code? Maybe I can help in some way in return?

Hi,
I have recently paid Vodafone a fee for unlocking my new handset the numbers they sen corresponded with nothing and the IMEI they matched the code with was not my phone.... I have since used sims from three providers with no issues.
My reason for thinking it needed unlocking is the dual sim wont work although all ok for 2 years in my Wiza 200.
Nice phone but anyone successfully used Dual Sim in the Kaiser????

ATT links your account to the IMEI number so what you are asking is not possible. I guess you are stuck with either paying a 3rd-party to unlock your phone or wait until someone here cracks the code.

you dont need to spend any penny, here are two ways you can get code from at&T:

1. ask you friend call them to get code, if they dont give to you, call everyday. some guy will give to you, i did same way from third call.

2. let your friend use one week and call, if they distinguish the phone your friend using, they will give you the code.

it's 8 digital number to get sim unlock, that's the easiest way to do it.

good luck and enjoy.

the only thing i dont understand is, at&t provide 3g service but they carry the kaiser with front camera. so funny.

Actually you do not need to be an ATT customer to get the code from them. I am not a customer and I had mine unlocked last week. You may have to call several times because not everyone that works for att knows that this is possible. They will not give the code over the phone but will email it to you within two days. Make sure you tell them you bought it from ebay, hats what I did.

actually they have it listed as a puk code - Unblock Sim Card.

I am guessing this unlocks your sim if you forget the password. Can anyone confirm?

From http://supportcingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB33662.html

QUESTION:
What is a PUK code?
What should I do if my phone says Enter PUK Code?
How can I get a PUK Code?
What should I do if my iPhone says error P1246?

ANSWER:
A PUK (Pin Unlock Key) is required when a customer enters an incorrect PIN 3 times. After entering the wrong PIN 3 times, the card will be locked and the customer will need to get a PUK code from AT&T to unlock it. Once a PUK has been received it will need to be entered to set a new PIN code.

The phone will display "PUK blocked call operator" when the PUK has been exceeded in failed attempts and the SIM is unusable.

By the way, was anyone able to figure why did my imei change after I flashed the phone with the HTC shipped ROM?..it was 15 digits on the box and sticker on the back of the phone and if you enter the*# code you get 17 digits.. same 15 on the box but with a 01 at the end!!!

Can remove simlock from HTC Kaiser and from any other HTC devices.

This service is not free.

Please send me PM for details.

1 code to 1 person!

P.S. you do not need to reflash, disassebly, hard reset your device!

If you cannot wait for someone to develop a 'free' (donations accepted) unlocker why not support the forum by donating $50 and tupisdin will get you the code for your kaiser. It may seem a lot but this goes to support this site and not someones beer money. as i read this post it seems to take between 24 - 48 hours.
I have a uk orange model i would rather donate than pay orange £20 for a code that may not work.

For sure $50 sounds expensive at first but though over time i have probaly saved more than $50 through this site.

Orange UK will give me the code for $40 (£20). But i know from experience that orange unlock codes do not always work the majority of the time.
As i want to flash the rom i need it to be unlocked even though i am on orange.
I would rather donate to xda developers than pay some other source. So i have made my donation. even if others may be a little cheaper.
if i was not so impatient i would wait for a 'free' one, however long it takes.

You always have options.

I got my unlock code for my Tilt directly from AT&T for Free.

Tuspin has provided unlock codes in return for a donation directly to XDA.

I hear you can get unlocks of eBay for about $15 (but some are unreliable).

I know IMEI Check was charging $40 for unlocks.

Or you can wait for free unlockers.

I still amazes me how people will spend serveral hundred dollars for these espensive toys and then complain because every program they want isn't free. Think about it, if it isn't worth paying $10 - $20 for then maybe you don't really "Need" it that bad. Same goes for unlocking.

I think if the unlock was less expensive, Xda will receive more money.
Actually, many members prefer to give their 20/30 dollars to imei-check, or other sites found on the web.
Then, if the unlock on the forum was for 20 dollars, everyone here will pay for the forum.

What's better ? 20 people paying 50 dollars, or 100 people giving 20 dollars ?

The Moderator has a point... Its you own choice...

Anything you buy is offered somewhere else at different t&c's and different price.. you could buy a plasma TV from someone for £1000, when you could find it somewhere else for £900... I dont think complaining to the expensive seller will get you anything..you went there..you paid for the service..your choice...
everyone has there reasons for charging what they do.. if you are not happy with that.. simply go somewhere else...

Whatever the facts are.. even if he has the green goblin giving him the unlocking codes for free..its his business.. if you disagree..just walk away

I flashed my phone..stupidly locked it..I needed the code..
Two options: -1- call Orange UK.. the will send it free of charge in 5-15 working days...
OR: -2- it was my choice to donate to XDA and get my phone back in action..in some 30hrs turnover...otherwise id still be waiting!

BOTTOM LINE.. the unlock code is $50 from XDA.. and cheaper anywhere else.. no one is putting pressure on you and making you fill your creditcard detials and pay XDA.

No one put any pression, and I didn't pay for unlock.

My point is just, that Xda will probably win more money if it was less expensive, it's all.

It's like you propose a Mustang for 80 000 dollars, and all price around are $30 000.

Then, the bottom line of the forum is that everyone can suggest something to help the communauty. If we can't suggest anything, there is no reason for Xda to exist. Forum is there to share, so don't tell me what I can do or not, if I'm not causing troubles.

I understand that a lot of users have issue with the price but I don't think fussing about it like this will effect it.

Maybe several users might want to write a nicely worded PM to Tupisdin and explain how you would prefer to support XDA in your effort to get your Kaiser (or other HTC Device) SIM Unlocked and would even be willing to pay a few buck more than the eBay sellers or other websites (say $20 each) but that paying twice or triple is difficult to swallow. Point out that if a lower price gets more requests then in the long run it will get more support into the coffers of XDA-Devs.

Some of the posts here are little more than publicly calling the guy out and calling his character into question. That will never get a positive response as you have now put him in a position to defend himself.

In the end though it is up to Tupisdin as this is not something XDA asked for (though we do apprectiate the support to the site).

If this thread continues to degenerate into a b!tc#fest then I will close it as this is not being productive.

I think the whole question of things does seem to be getting rather off the point here, however there are two sides to this -

Yes, the monies being paid are being put to a good cause, to further and benefit all the members of this forum, with information help and of course better resources...and support.

however, i can also see where some people are coming from, yes if you paying for something, it's not really a donation, its more of a charge, you want a service - pay for it...

However, there is always another way, the voluntary donation, where as your not asked directly, but as your receiving a service, an amount of money (the amount of which is at the discretion of the member would be sent)

Maybe this is the way forward, i can however see that some people would probably still moan at this, but it could be a solution....

after all people, it's your forum - have you say on the thoughts....

So I got the code from tupisdin, which worked!!! with the code he also told me, "to leave him alone." Yes it did cost me 50.00 US. I totally had the option not to use him so I can not and will not bi-ch about it.

Although I am glad there are others in here who don't practice his behaviour. I won't insult him, but again THANKS TO THOSE WHO PROVIDE FREE SERVICES TO ALL OF US. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY OF YOU GUYS.

It is because of them i opted to pay the 50.00 and "donate" because after all the amount of software and help i have gotten is worth far more then 50.00 and more then 500.00 to others when considered of the people who bricked their phone.

As far is tupisdin, leave him be, he is a senior member so I am sure there is a reason he requests so much, I just wish he was a bit more nicer as far as attitude but whatever no one is perfect. I wondered why he told me to leave him alone. I know at one point during our corespondence I did till him if I am bothering him, I could leave him alone.

AGAIN THANKS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO HELP US ON HERE WITHOUT A "DONATION"

i am actually wondering now, with all these donations flowing in at such a fast rate, how long is it going to be before the price drops or its opened up as a free tool for general use???

i received my code within 48 hours and it worked as i expected it to. i have sent pm with thanks to tupidsin.
i was 100% confident that tupidsin would have my kaiser unlocked i cannot say that for any of the other links on this thread

if he was charging $50 for himself then i would understand the moaning, but he is not getting anything except for grief from a lot of users.

basically if anyone want to have there kaiser unlocked you have a choice;

go to your network supplier & pay them £20
go to ebay & get ripped off as people have reported
go to another website and pay £20
OR DONATE £25 TO THIS SITE

IT IS YOUR CHOICE NO ONE IS PUTTING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD.

people seem to expect something for free all the time and it does not always work that way.

i think someone should take the initiative and release the unlocker for general use!

Ensuring it is clearly marked with instructions on it, of how to make a VOLUNTARY donation to XDA developers.

Instead of holding onto this utility as he currently appears to be. And making people wait for what they need, ie their phone back up and running....

Did any of you try Imei-Check (here (http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php))? I'd like to know what happens after you submit the file. Do they send a 8-digit unlockcode or do they send another program.

i tried using them, but they were adament that i needed to send them the data from my phone to get an unlock, i find this a tad strange when all you need is the imei number as per the guy that holding the unlocker for $50 a throw on here, claiming its a donation, but it doesnt really fit into the definition of such:-

DONATION:- is a gift to a fund or cause, typically for charitable reasons. A donation may take various forms, including cash, services, clothing, food, accommodation, blood or new or used items. Charitable gifts of goods or services are also called gifts in kind.

however,

A CHARGE IS:- The charges as agreed In Writing or verbally prior to provision of Goods or Services being supplied or carried out.

I also found them very abruct when trying to explain an issue via email. In the end i have chosen to keep my money in my pocket. You shouldnt need a sim unlock unless you put the HTC official rom in the phone as that flashes everything i think, whereas dutty's rom is just the OS - not the radio.

Or of course unless you want to use it on a different network. I have 2 SIMs, one work & one personal - on different networks

Well.. i think, all this people, you need to send the imei.. because they dont want give to you the "original" unlocker, because if you have this, you can provide this service.. So, they just sent your code.. or one programm that just your imei accept.. I saw a couple places and in ALL them, you need to send your imei..

Just to clarify why I posted my question here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1656475&postcount=236): I think their program is a fake in other words a mockup. It tries to give the impression on hackers who hack imei-check that it is switching on radio and communicates with radio using AT commands. I'm 99.9% sure they just buy the unlockcodes from some operator at low cost (usually less than 10$) and then rip off their customers by charging 42$. Draw your own conclusions if you read this sentence in your kaiser's ram "You shall not steal! 22051978".

Indeed mr. '22051978', you shall not steal ...

I used IMEI-check and after you submit the file it generates you go to the paypal screen to pay for it, when complete you receive an email with the url (login and password) to retrieve your 8 digit unlock code.

Whether the program is a fake or whether it does actually read your code from your phone is irrelevant, to me it was a service i needed (2 sims, contract and PAYG different operators) so i was more than happy to pay "the going rate" I like XDA but i exercised my right to go else where based on the most fundamental of primitive urges "it was cheaper".

Sure, but their program also unnecessarily wrote rubbish to my kaiser's flash memory and that's what can cause a problem whenever I have to send it to HTC service. As they will detect it and possibly void my warranty. Those who tried imei-check should try this:
pmemdump 0x8c000000 0x100000 dump.bin
(pmemdump is part of itsutils (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XdaUtils))

Open the file dump.bin in a hexeditor and look at the area around offset 0xAC000

See whether it says this multiple times: "You shall not steal! 22051978"
My phone works normally, but I don't like that they have brandmarked my phone. Now I'm curious whether it's just my device or whether they do it with all.

Have you tried 22051978 as Unlock-Code?

No, my unlockcode is different. Search the forum for 22051978. It's the birthday of Florian, the guy behind imei-check, he uses it more or less as signature for identifying to 'insiders'. Indeed, it was once used by imei-check as unlockcode for Hermes I believe.

Hello,

You can get your Htc Tytn II unlock by using this site.
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Costs only about 30 euro.
Works very nice!

You first get the program and you can see that is works, after that you have to pay for the unlockcode! very nice!

My Vodafoon 1615 is now Simlock free!!

ive asked this on another thread but didnt get any answers. has anybody else that used imei-check been asked to send identification (e.g. picture of passport or driving license) to verify their paypal account? I did this because a lot of ppl on this site recommended the site so i thought it would be alright. The more I think about it now though the more uncomfortable it makes me feel. Has anybody else submitted their id? What are your opinions on this?
