Hi all,
I have this problem with my Dopod 838 (Hermes). When in the car and on the car charger (generic/unbranded Car Charger-to-USB adapter with retractable USB-to-miniUSB cable), if my hermes is on "standby" it is charging as expected. If it is "powered-on" though, it stops charging, and the backlight shuts off after 5 secs of "inactivity" (as set in the backlight settings).
The problem is in the car, I use a BT GPS unit and GPS software, and suddenly the hermes backlight shuts off and cant see a thing....
It was working properly with official WM5, and with the early ROMS (e.g. XDA Live etc), but with the latest brew it doesnt... I tried most of the roms (Schaps, VP3G, Sleuth, and currently using Black Majik) with the same problem.
I posted on the 4WM site as I currently use Black, and I got the suggestion to solder pin 4 & 5 of the miniUSB plug so that the Hermes can identify the USB charger.....
It's difficult to do this as the miniUSB is "factory-molded" and cannot be taken apart, plus the risk of soldering more mini-pins together creating havoc....
Anybody with a better solution/suggestion? Also why the hermes could identify the USB charger with WM5 or XDALive roms?
Any help much appreciated.
Chris
