A Soldier just home from Iraq needs our help..

For the past day I have been trying to help someone with their 8525 that they screwed up the unlocking process and now appears to have a hybrid brick... he is stuck in bootloader mode and no matter what we try nothing helps.. his IPL/SPL are 1.01 and 1.40-olipro ...

Now, I would not be so aggressive in trying to get him help if it wasn't for what he has done. He is a Soldier (marine) just home from deployment in Iraq. If anyone can help him, his AIM name is MDalton10 ..his XDA name is YellowGTO... he is a noob and thought he understood what he was doing.. but something went wrong...

Can anyone try to help him? Let me know so I can tell him the cavalry is coming..

Neither of us have any idea how to do a USB monitor.... on a side note, can someone tell me how to do that?

yeah he read that and so did I.. but it doesnt explain what MTTY is or anything, it just expects you to KNOW what it is... and for a while his ipl was 1.03 which isn't even listed in that index...

If you've screwed your phone just ask for help and keep it all to ONE thread then people can help you unscrew it. But PLEASE DON'T pretend you're trying to help a hero just because you're too dumb to read simple instructions.

There are plenty of people here who aren't clever enough to qualify as the accountant you claim to be but can follow simple instructions and fix bigger problems than yours without flooding the forums with your 'OMG its a brick' posts.

Because I never had a problem with my phone other than that 1 thing.. so I never really had to learn it.. I've had my hermes for 2 weeks.. I had a wizard before then.. so.. since you wanna ASSUME that its me.. Here.. this should show you, my phone is just fine.. einstein.

Because I CAN follow directions.. it's Mdalton10 that has the issue, not me..

There is also a BIG difference in knowing how to do debits and credits, fixed asset systems, Disposals, journal entries, general ledger, ESCHEAT, tax liabilities, equity and such then software programming and hacking and stuff.. so that argument is shot down.

yeah i had mine partially bricked once back when we were flashing via mtty, before the new IPL's came out. i am not knowledgeable enough to explain it but i would look to it for flashing, even if its just to a wm5 rom and then go forward from there.

I know that may not be much help Madcap, just my 2 cents

We ended up figureing out MTTY and did the set 14 0 command and it worked, his phone is now functional.. and he owes me a case of beer.. lol...

As a 17 year Army MP, and a Vet of both Iraqi Wars, I just wanted to add that regardless of anyone's "service" history or lack of one, if you jump into flashing without completely understanding what you're doing and end up with a brick, then you need to kick yourself in the ass. I'm glad everything worked out, but I kinda laughed that you stressed "helping out a soldier just home from Iraq" to grab the attention and compassion of people to divert people from wondering if this cherry jumped into something he didn't fully read-up on. :p Now, guess how I got wounded and win a cookie! lol

Since no one locked this retarded thread yet I will add......I thought Marines took offense to being referred to as a "Soldier" He is a Marine, but you could have really pissed him off and called him part of the Navy since they are part of the Dept of Navy.:D
