A great idea was brought to my attention by DaKender and rather than wait on a poll to fill in, I thought I'd just go ahead and start it.
This thread is only for the request and posting of working packages for kitchens. A great place to learn how to make packages is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303195
Kitchen authors, please PM me with posts that can be moved into this thread so you can keep your kitchen threads cleaner and answer tech questions.
If you are posting a package:
1) Packages may only consist of free software or software embedded in a factory ROM.
2) Package(s) must work and have been used by the poster in cooking a ROM. Please state the kitchen you used.
3) Uploads must be named according to contents (i.e. Compressed_Office_2007_for_318_build.zip).
4) You must state the contents of the package in your post. Not every little thing but enough for a person to make an informed decision to use the package or not. Packages do not have to include an option.xml file. However, they must include an initfileflashes.dat as well as .rgu and .dsm files.
5) If your package is too big, please use the uploads/Wizard section of the FTP to post and post the link.
If you are posting a request:
1) Click on the paperclip icon on the main forum page next to this thread to see if a package you are requesting has already been posted. This is the most important rule!
2) Include requests for multiple packages in a single post. No need in cluttering the thread with multiple requests by the same person.
Please keep this thread clean. Useless or off-topic posts will be promptly deleted.

Uploaded to the ftp server are the working VoIP packages for WM6. The zip file contains 2 packages which were used to cook my latest ROM in double_ofour's kitchen. No initflashfiles.dat is needed because these are SYS modules.

This is a great idea to have an "almighty" thread with all packages around here in one place. I also agree with the idea of requesting packages and fulfilling requests.
I don't understand why people won't cooperate. Unfortunately i don't have any packs on my PC, but i will contribute as soon as possible.
Cheers !

Just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for doing this. I just wish I had the time and knowledge to do it. Will do my best to help contribute, just a busy time at work during the summer season, feel like the one legged man in a butt kicking contest lately....... :D If I can help out in any way, just let me know, I'll do my best.

I'm understanding the 54-ish mb ROM limit, but Can anyone off the top of their heads say how that breaks down system vs. extras? What the OEM folder size limit? How much memory does it actually save to put less stuff in the OEM, all? None? some? How different is the TouchMyCube built in, size-wise. Anyone tried sticking in the cube after flashing?
OK, this went a little too far, but it would be nice to benefit from experience rather than fumble around trying something new (there I go again).
I think it's a stitch that people are flashing using mirrors....
BTW, I'm working on a cab list for the pantry so people can taste before they buy. Feel free to PM me if you know one that probably isn't posted or might be hard to find. (Got the ArcSoft MMS; thx Ingenetics for asking for it.)
(Up to interpretation: :p)

You can eliminate packages from either side, so the question might possibly be. "What packages can be deleted from the SYS folder to make room for additional OEM folder items?" Many people have removed VoIP, Catalog(ue), Voice Command, Windows Live, Autoupdate and Office Mobile to name most. All but Autoupdate and Catalog(ue) are deleted or have different versions placed in the various official ROM's. It's really a zero-sum game adding and subtracting packages.

After cooking a couple roms (nothing special, nor would I want to publish them as they are, but working on it) I'm pretty convinced that the more there is in the Windows directory the slower the OS. I did a bunch of the regedits manually b4 build instead of using rgus and deleted Adobe, replaced it w/ Xpdf (1/3 the size & I like it better, plus the source code is available) and MS Voice Command and got a substantial performance difference, subjectively, even after installing lots and lots of other crap (Cyberon Voice dial & commander, gigantic spb stuff, pocket informant... locally (\Program Files and on card). What softwate do people use for benchmarking?

Any chance we could get one of these threads in the Hermes WM6 forum. There
seems to be a lot of interest in home cooking right now with the release of Core and Pandora kitchens.

I've uploaded four new packages today.
Office 2 k 7 Compressed for Build 318: The exe's only have been compressed. This package integrates the fix needed to make 2 k 7 run on versions of WM6 that do not already have it. It was used to cook my own ROM. It contains no initflashfiles.dat.

Hey Jwgz!
How's going btw?
I'm almost releasing my own ROM finally! Have been cooking so many ROM's with so many different kitchens and I think I can upload a few functional OEM packages! But It will be directly via upload link at our FTP server.
So, preparing and update news later when I finish!:p
Good initiative !:D

Ok..I know this is gonna sound stupid...but only way to learn I suppose...I downloaded Mattk's 4.0 kitchen...how can I extract the oem packages in it and make them available for the hypercore kitchen I'm using?

I'm playing around trying to get my own OEM package for Dutch Touch Rom.
Does the below RGU setting look right?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2 DP\Settings]
"BitPool"=dword:58
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:58
"UseJointStereo"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\MASD]
"QuickDial"="string:"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes I know I should just test it but i'm not cooking, yet just helping out Junior chef and trying to understand the OEM package so i can contribute some more.
Am i right in believing that for a string value i should simply use "string"?
And also will a blank entry override it to blank if there's a value set in that particular string there?
And should i use
"QuickDial"="string:"
Or
"QuickDial"=string:
Or am i completely off, and is there an easy way to just delete a string value?
Here's the package. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=49405&d=1189021461)
And Yo Wolf doesn't the Core Kitchen actually extract the OEM's (green to)
famewolf
10th September 2007, 03:51 PM
Well..I did finally manage to take two or three rom's and extract them to look at their packages...and then build a new rom with some changes I made...(updated peekpocket to 1.3, pocketcm to 0.12, schaps to 1.0, comm manager to 10 button, removed adobe reader LE and added pocketxpdf....changed the grey/green mun keyboard skin to black diamond keyboard skin) and got it to build/flash correctly. I would have thought though by now we would have seen three things:
1) A kitchen with a "pantry" built in so that you can "add" packages to a list of always available ones...these would be kept in a pantry.zip or something seperate from the oem and sys folders.
2) A tool to take a standard cab and convert it to an oem package. They both contain the exe and the registry entries..not sure what the big deal is but I may be missing something.
3) upx 3.01 was released on july 31, 2007 with a new --ultra-brute option for compression. The ability to drop in the current version for use would be useful. The ability to "recompress" a package so that it uses upx -d to decompress and then apply ultra-brute to see if we can squeeze additional space.

1. It exists.
Just look at Faria's WM6 kitchen and use the XML but then edited to other packages. (i'm downloading it now to again)
2. That would be cool. Because right now i have no problem custimizing my phone building cabs to install stuff and change registry settings. If these could be changed into OEM my life will be a lot easier.
3. I'm running a compressed Touch with 12mb pagepool and still 20 mb left on 286mhz. But it definetly runs slower than a stock rom. So i have double feeling about compression. (it does get faster once memory usage drops to 11MB left free, because everythings cached). But everything takes longer to start up.

Is it possible to get an OEM for enable Rapi and SPCert?
Or do they have to be installed after flash?
And also Googlemaps is one i havent'seen or is this a no go as it is a java app?
BTW are these exactly the same for the ELF as for Wizrd?

If you can figure out how to make a java app oem package you will be popular. ;) I know I have been looking for how to add gmail and opera mini for a while now. I actually don't think it's possible because each java manager (esmertec, intent etc) is going to put the midlet somewhere different..you'd have to built the oem package for a specific java manager at a minimum.
Noonski
13th September 2007, 08:59 PM
So theoreticly it could be in Ext rom?
Because the Java manager would allready be active to pick up the installation?
Or in short damn damn damn.
EDIT:
Googlemaps can now be used in Package. No registry keys needed and the .dat files can be skipped because GM creates them on first run in application data.
So no i didn't figure out how to make a Java Package, but it's still good news.
I'll make one for this thread.
Cooked And Tested.

some packages I did for my personal rom:
Mortbuttons2.41
Hbuttons
Gsfinder+ (with file dialogue changer & notepad=better than Total commander)
(edit files with notepad using SEND TO in gsfinder+)
TodayGif-003
PocketC by Orbworks with apps from OnHiatus
Pike
LaunchPad
HiPKeys
ACT
Rover
I like to set up my Hbuttons then export the registry keys to the package so they're preset before cooking. the same with mortbuttons, but you only need the .mbi files.
Enjoy.

I know that not all OEM packages that work on one device might not work on others. But would it be smarter to have one main repository on the FTP?
Looking at the amount of tests and flashes i do i wouldn't mind trying an OEM that doesn't work anyway. And since for instance a Kaiser Chef or or user won't be checking out a lot of threads for other devices. Eventhought i have both a Wizard and elf. I'm losing sight of the wizard threads let alone other devices. Plus it wil save space having only one place with repositories.

OEM content:
HandiTV - A great software for streaming video. It comes with a lot of prebuilt channels. Work better under Wireless connections.
HushSMS - That's a app to end SMS in a hidden way.
WIMR - Nice app that shows where are you loosing RAM.
VxUtil - A very well known app used to connectivity and networking procedures. Must have!
FoxitReader - A new PDF reader.
* there's only an issue with HandiTV that I still haven't had a clue. But it works fine anyway. When you click it to load, an error message is shown stating that a important file is missed. Just ignore it and move on!

I don't like how Arcsoft 5 forces me to merge SMS and MMS.
Haven't been able to separate them and what is the big difference to 4 anyway?

here sir.
:)
hahahaha!
You rock!
Although I don't need it anymore on this build, I'm sure many people will need it later.
I will download and keep it safe in case someone should need it again :)
does anyone know where I can get a bigger nb0 for my rom? I ran out of room lol. having to use the 318build. I might just have to highjack the original 5.1 from tmobile. I assume it is possible. however I'm afraid it is going to show the os as the old wm5.

:) Why could I not have found this posting 2 weeks ago while I still had a full head of hair.
MUCHO GRACIAS, TRES BIEN, or as we say in the South: WOO HOO!!
I have a suggestion for packaged ROMs, either in .ZIP or .RAR format only and that they contain a TXT file with the following info:
CREATOR
CREATION DATE
BASE ROM USED
LANGUAGE(S)
LISTING OF INCLUDED SW
This would be like the .NFO file you find in a lot of files, makes it much easier to catalog what you have.

I need some help: Ever since I installed SRSWOW. I have been having a problem with my volume not being loud enough. It used to be abnoxiously loud! and made a fantastic allarm clock. the ringers were also very loud.
The problem is that I didn't save the registry settings, because I didn't need them. also, I had to cook the SRS right into the rom to make it work.
can anyone send me the loudest registry settings for wizard ( ones that will not blow the speakers out?)??
I only need to fix the intrnal speaker volume the rest is perfect.
Thanx in advance.

Buddy,
I normally do that through WINCE Cab Manager. I create a new CAB and add files, regs, etc..into the new pack. That's it.!:p

FTP has undergone some massive reconstruction as it was being used to post warez. So now Uploads are being checked before being put to the right directory. So some folders have not been updated yet or updated correctly.
jwzg has been busy unfortunatly.

Does anyone have t he OEM for PIE 6.1?
Thanks.
Any WM6.1 Kitchen should have them in it. There is an other way...
Have you tried the PIE WM6.1 .cab file in this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365743
One way to get them, install the .cab and copy the files it installs and then copy them to your PC via activesync or SD card and whatever OEM kitchen you wanna cook.
Oh yeah, make sure you take out the older PIE files first! Or copy over them...
