The path should be:
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
In that folder create Accessories (you will see that Toolbox is in that folder also).
I still don't quite see why having Accessories is needed. If you are installing from a cab, the cab should create the folder if its needed.

It still did'nt install the sip config from the WM6VOIP.cab file where it used to do it in your first version of XDA Mobile 6!

The thread I posted contains a few programs to be pasted into \Windows and some registry entries to be added. It re-implements Bluetooth DUN (which will make linux and mac users very happy) while still giving you the option of using Internet sharing if you prefer.
I have verified that this hack works on XDA6R2a. I encourage all to implement it. I have a few cheap $5 bluetooth dongles that refuse to use internet sharing because they all have the same mac id (11:11:11:11:11:11)....but they will connect fine using bluetooth dun which doesn't care about the mac id....my linux laptop was able to connect fine using Bluetooth DUN and my desktop which has a more expensive bluetooth dongle (translation: Not a cheap chinese copy) was able to still use internet sharing with no problem.

Does anybody also have issues with SMSDRFix.
No matter what I do, it just shows the default delivery message.
This happens using R2a.
Any suggestions what to do?

Does anyone have the same problem with the WLAN on the comm manager?
Also what is the advantage of upgrading SPL/IPL to 3.08?
Hello,
I've been using this rom for almost two weeks now. In general it's been very stable and the speed is amazing. Thanks to mfrazzz for his awesome job!!
However lately I've been having this up and down problem with the Wifi on the comm manager. When I tap on the WLAN sometimes it won't turn on. I get the progress icon for several seconds but then the WLAN just comes back off.
I did some research and found that NBD ROM by Zoki had the same problem with the wifi. SiLeNtKiLLa and ROCOAFZ from that thread recommended that the following registry keys should fix it:
HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Parms\HTCPreloadstatus --> 1
HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Parms\HTCPreloadwifi -->1
I did this but didn't fix mine and still get this up and down problem. Does anybody have the same problem? Soft reset sometimes fixes it.
Here's the detail on my wizard:
G3 (CID and SIM unlocked)
IPL/SPL: 2.26 from T-mobile official ROM
GSM: 02.25.11
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
-BatteryStatus
-SBSH ILaucher
-SBSH Pocket Weather

The only time I have not had wlan work was when I was tethered and internet sharing was enabled. Wlan will NOT come on while internet sharing is enabled..it's designed not to I think.
The 3.08 ipl/spl shaves about 4 seconds off boot time...no other real changes that I can tell.

This problem actually when I'm not doing anything, i.e., i'm just using the phone and trying to check my email from the living room using the wireless AP.
Pressing the WLAN gives me the status icon but the WLAN won't turn on.

I made a new portrait background for the reTouched dialer, the one I was using the letters were kinda small for my aging eyes :)
Its based on Neonstorm blue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685) I also attached the photoshop file if someone wants to use different letters or customize it even more.

Ok I have played with this for a minute and a few things I noticed ....
1.) In the recent programs list its always new and you restart the phone . I liked it better when it kept the list after a restart.
2.) When getting MMS & SMS there is no direct forward button you have to goto reply in the drop down menu and then forward.
3.) When on the dial pad you cant see all contacts and when you do its only the small part of the screen. Ok to better clarify you dont have the option to press contacts . So you dont get the whole contact screen with out exiting the dialer.
4.) When using t-moible OZ communicator the enter key doesnt send the message now.
Now I will say it has better wifi connectivity, Louder clearer speaker sound. Phone does perform extremely more proficient. Haven't had a chance to play with java yet so cant comment on that aspect.

Nah... I'm trying to read and finish the new Harry Potter. XDA has taken a backseat for now (sorry).
I do check in and read the thread but Famewolf appears to be my offical support line now (no problem with that at all! Thanks!)
With TodayAgenda 1.0 Beta out, PIM backup now at 2.5, and a few others, I may have to dust out the kitchen and do an r3 soon. I'll have to go back through this thread and reread some of the suggestions. Wififofum will probably be removed in favor of PeekPocket too.
Good idea: Dont have any experience of PeekPocket but I liked WiFiFoFum until I had used it for about ten minutes and I noticed that it doesn't give signal strengths in any commonly understandable form.
Sorry to be a week late on this but is there any chance you could get VoIP to work on the earpiece as well as speaker please? I and others keep on asking you about this and you don't seem to like to respond. Can you include all those Hermes developments or wouldn't they work on a Wizard?

That said, this is a fabulous ROM and I'm loving it.

Ok, I have a question then.
In the previous version of arcsoft, you got a notification when the sms was sent. This does not appear in this ROM and I can't find a way of manually adding a notification.
By corollary does this mean there should be a notification if the phone can't send the sms for some reason ?
I also have the same issues with SMSDeliveryFix mentioned by other users in this thread - ie it does nothing.

One of the packages added is Schap's Advanced configuration (You can do a search to find the XDA thread on it) and one of it's menu options is "Disable SMS Notification" which is checked by default. You should be able to uncheck this and get the notifications back..at least I assume so..I dont' send alot of sms's.
You can install this app in r2a and try it out. Installing to storage card will be fine.
Or change this registry entry from 1 to 0 if you have a registry editor like total commander:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs\SMSNoSentMsg=1 (Set = to 0 to disable and soft reset)

Yes that would be my grandfather. It doesn't seem like any parts got fried.. We did repair it. The leads on the usb connector are now all touching.
I tried using IR to connect to activesync. It worked until the part where it went to bootloader mode which disabled the IR and made the PC lose communication. I also tried using the XDA>SD Card Writer tool that I had and I selected the nk.nbf file and tried writing it to SD card but it didn't recognize the format... *sigh* I am doomed and stuck with this same ROM forever? The WM6 looks soo great.
Weird, if all USB leads are connected, you should be able to use USB mode for flashing.
Really, sure there is nothing shortcircuited there? If I remember correct the two inner leads of the usb connector take care of data. You can check with a resistance meter.

It's a great ROM, but I've experienced one important problem, which I hope is fixable: I keep missing calls. Many of them. Calls didn't seem to come through, I found out when I got three text messages at the same time telling me that I had a couple of missed calls and a couple of voicemail messages. Can I conclude that there's something wrong with receiving text messages as well then? A few hours ago I called my number with another phone: my wizard had full signal but still I got my mailbox instead of my wizard ringing.
Any clues? I read something about XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2.cab. I installed that, but that made no difference.

When I'm not actively using my mda, I press the power button to put the phone in sleep mode to conserve battery. With this rom (and also with crossbow) myphone seems to get stuck in sleep mode several times a day and I have to soft reset to get it back working. The green light still flashes, and if I get a call it rings, but the screen won't come back on and none of the buttons work. In searching the forum I read that battery status can have this effect, so I set the cpu back to 195 and uninstalled bs, but I'm still haveing the lockups. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Try using a different radio rom..many are using the 2.19 version to prevent missed calls which is a known issue for WM6 and especially for Cingular users.

Batterystatus would only prevent your phone from coming out of standby if you were underclocking it lower then the 143 I think it sets as low threshhold. Since you are having the issue with multiple rom's I'd lean more towards a hardware issue with your phone. Have you tried a WM5 rom to see if you have the same problem?

AHA I thought that there was something missing!! I looked everywhere and couldn't find it on the new ROM. Downloading the SIP Config Tool is hardly a privation but would we do better with the Shap one which people say you are putting into the newest version?
Over on the Hermes and TyTn forums, people seem to have solved the VoIP problem everyone had been having, - with the service working ALMOST flawlessly with WM6 but there being absolutely no sound whatsoever on the earpiece/speakerphone. I tried to troubleshoot it with my service provider (using your first ROM) and they could see me on the network, make a call to me and hear me and I could make a call to them and they could answer it. I just couldn't hear a thing in either instance.
What they are doing on Hermes/TyTn is using SetupVoIP_v0.3 from Schap combined with MajikVOIP.cab (- though it only seems to be available through some private site http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/loc...&id=24&catid=6).
Then they also need VOIP Drivers.cab from http://wmblack.info/addons/. Which I'll bet is the same file as WM6VoIP.cab.
I can't see why ALL this is necessary or which one alone would work on the Wizard. Or whether this earpiece thing isn't just something to do with a codec fault in the Registry: It certainly doesn't seem to be a volume issue. Any ideas?

I have a T-mob mda I have had great success in unlocking and getting it setup with IPL/SPL 3.08 and Radio 1.12.10 I also have OMapClockPlus 00.4 running 252mhz with no problems.
Question..
I think I need to update the Radio to 2.69.11 do I need to use Lokiwiz 02b to get the wizard back to the lowest op system.
Or is there a way to get just the Radio installed and can I go from there.

Just pull down a Radio Only rom (there are links all around for these) of your choosing, and then flash it. As long as its a radio only rom, this will not impact your data or anything and will just change the radio (listed as GSM when you boot). 2.69 is the one with the highest number but isn't necissarily the best. Heck if your old 1.x radio works for you then keep it ;). Just be aware that there are radio issues with WM6 (especially for Cingular customers). The 2.19 (UK or NL) seems to be the most reliable (although I've heard 2.07 is good too) but it doesn't have the best signal strength (seems to be a weaker radio). I've been running the 2.69 now for a few weeks with no issues for missed calls or SMS, but I do find that sometimes GPRS won't connect and I have to switch to flight mode and back a couple of times to clear this. I'll probably move back to teh Cingular 2.25 radio with my WM6 Radio fix cab (in the first post).

The reading I did seemed to indicate the sound had to come out of the speaker because the software could not interact with the phone portion of the hardware...I'd like to be proven wrong though. I just installed this rom with ShellTool - took about 8 minutes, all was well. WM6 on my MDA, running perfectly! Installed the T-Mobile Data Cabs that were posted and all is back to normal - and still faster than WM5 Official T-Mobile. Great work!
I did have an issue with ShellTool where it would list the process as being complete after 2 minutes - to anyone else having a similar problem, I reflashed the original T-Mobile ROM, soft-resetted once customizations began and installed the two cabs - EnableRapi and the SPCS or whoever cab - and left the phone on and plugged in for about 10 minutes (probably overkill) and then soft-resetted. This is the only thing I did differently after about 5 failed attempts, so I suppose my impatience got the best of me - so, in short, don't reset after installing Rapi\SPCS for at least a couple minutes.

I hadnt considered that: Is it possible that the ear piece on a T-Mobile phone is not working because T-Mobile do something to their phones to prevent you connecting via VoIP by blocking the incoming port on WiFi? And that no one has managed to unlock this?
Is this why all those patches have needed to be applied over on the Hermes & TyTn forums to get VoIP to work on those phones?

Hi there, Love this ROM... great work!!! This is my first post as I am new to the HTC but not PDAs in general. Have/had iMate JASJAR/Treo 650/Toshiba e335 and so on....
My question is..I installed touchflo from one of the CABs here in this site. I think it was called alpha version. Any way all I get is the black screen. So, last night I flashed another ROM...got it working but got slower as time went on. Also WIFI was not stable. This ROM is the most stable but I would love to get touchflo working...
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi PURESKILLZZZ, if your WIFI says you are connected but you are not able to surf. Make sure you do not have any proxy settings set under connections. For my WAP to work I have to set them to what FIDO needs. However, when I want to surf using free wifi, I need to disable or remove them.
Hope this helps.

Install the cab...link should point to the new version. You can't overlay the version in rom but you can replace it..phone storage or storage card version always takes priority.

I made a custom installer for this version, which overwrote all files and shortcuts that were present in the ROM I'm running.... after the installation a restart was required, but after that I'm fine with Totalcmd 2.5 b3 :)

Okies .. Sounds like a good idea but funny thing is some apps work and others dont .. I just messed up all settings playing with tis program called RegistryWizard. After running that all fails ... I just flashed buttons1.05, upgraded to t-mobile 2.26. Now about to go to WM6.
PURESKILLZZZ
1st August 2007, 12:03 AM
Ok ..... Here are other finiding with WM6 that I noticed when im back on t-mobile 2.26
1.) Cant use GPRS or EDGE when wifi is connected under WM6 but I can under 2.26
2.) All wifi apps still have issues under WM6. even set setting to connect to internet annd no dice.
Are you on XM6r2 or r2a? I completely removed psShutXP from r2a, so that shouldn't happen at all.
What cab is this (and where did you get it)? Most cabs will just create the folder they need if its not there, so if its set to put stuff in accessories, then you will have an accessorie s folder in Programs after its done. You could then use total commander to move the link to the ToolBox folder if you prefer.
@itburnout - I didn't do anything to disable Blackberry support between r1 and r2/r2a. I've never used it before so can't say if it does or doesn't work.
@smileyaj2005 - As I've stated previously, I made the choice to upgrade on r2/r2a to the Arcsoft v4.0 software. This combines SMS / MMS, and for me, I like this better (I never understood why I had to look in different places for text and picture messages, so this to me makes sense). You would have to downgrade to v3.x with a CAB, but I'm not sure thats doable or not and I don't have a cab for doing this.
@shadezero - Boto originally gave me the psShutXP theme I put in r2. If you want those files, I can post them later today (not on that computer now).
@Desktopflame - I've never seen or used Quote of the Day. If you provide me a link or cab for the app, I can take a look at it and see if I can see why it doesn't work. Does it work on other WM6 roms?
SMS & MMS is together!! Just wanna know if it's possible to divide the MMS and SMSLike before... thanks...
I just answered this 9 posts ago. Please take some time to read a few pages before asking the same question.
3.) Still SMS & MMS together and I saw mfrazzz commented on it and then told another guy I posted it 9 messages ago but still he didn't answer how to seperate them and if he did I missed it.
4.) The included java midlet has plenty issues and only get java waorking correctly by installing J9_full 6.1.0.20060727-102926.
5.) ringtone issue fix is easiest if you the music program to set the music you are playing as a ringtone then you goto settings => Phone and change it there . The new song you played will be added in the list.
6.) And still gprs doesnt work correctly in the newer version but I will tweak that until I get it correct . Adding all these cab settings for MMS isnt the easiest way and once ill figure it out ill post it folks .
Problems that haven't been figured out yet .
A.) When on the dial pad you cant see all contacts and when you do its only the small part of the screen. Ok to better clarify you don't have the option to press contacts . So you don't get the whole contact screen with out exiting the dialer.
B.) When using t-moible OZ communicator the enter key doesn't send the message now.
c.) When getting MMS & SMS there is no direct forward button you have to goto reply in the drop down menu and then forward.
But at least the recent programs issue is simple enough.
Remove the program "StartClean.exe" from startup
Go to windows/startup folder and delete a the "startclean" link.

Okies ... MMS is solved and very easily I may add. My first suggestion is do not use a cab file to set up MMS.. Thats a no-no .. Manually do it you will have less issues. If you dont know how then read because all providers give good explanations. I am with t-mobile and mfrazzz your answer was in the original post just had to play with it .. 3 flashes later I got MMS working correctly.

GPRS / MMS Setups
This rom uses the new Arcsoft 4.0 software which has SMS and MMS merged together. Overall I personally like this better in my using it, so I put it into this rom. To setup your MMS settings though is a little different / odd. Here's what you do:
* Go to Messaging
* Menu > New > MMS
* Select whichever MMS template
* Menu > Options > MMS Options
* Now you are in the familiar MMS settings page. You can choose the Servers tab to setup your MMS server.
************************************************** *******
Follow those steps then do your manual configurations and it works .. For t-mobile ... as from there own page ...
Setting up the data account
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap on the Connections tab.
4. Tap the Connections icon.
5. Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
6. Enter PictureMessaging in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
8. Tap Next.
9. Enter wap.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
10. Tap Next.
11. Tap Finish.
Setting up the MMS profile
1. Tap Start again.
2. Tap Messaging.
3. Tap Menu.
4. Tap MMS Configuration.
5. Tap the Servers tab.
6. Tap New.
7. Enter PictureMessaging in the Server Name field.
8. Enter 216.155.165.50 in the Gateway field.
9. Enter 8080 in the Port number field.
10. Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
11. Tap to select T-Mobile GPRS from the Connect via drop down list.
12. Tap to select WAP 2.0 from the WAP Version dropdown.
13. Tap OK.
14. Scroll to PictureMessaging and tap Set As Default.
15. Tap OK.
The new MMS profile is now configured and ready for use.
I already corrected the mistake on their site for those who already know was the .050 in address which should be just .50
Now working on the rest .... Will post when more things are solved.

NOt a hardware or software problem . Its an network issue . Once you disconnect it doesn't always re-see you when you re-connect. Thats an issue I have seen many times before. So soft reset is normally your only choice . Depending on the app some will allow you to close and restart. T-mobiles oz has this issue thus 1 of the first places I seen it . Even the keep gprs/edge alive doesnt help when there is a disconnect.

The reading I did seemed to indicate the sound had to come out of the speaker because the software could not interact with the phone portion of the hardware...I'd like to be proven wrong though. Other people had issues because their provider is NAT'ing them and they don't have any open ports to RECEIVE audio..they can send and be heard but don't get the sound back.....tmobile for instance does this.
Well I can now confirm it, the Hermes/TyTn drivers and Sheps configuration program (though it looks very complete) doesn't seem to work on the Wizard. I have installed the drivers and program (and enabled WiFi in CommMgr and clicked on the "WHENEVER AVAILABLE" button for VoIP calls and confirmed that I was actually on the Internet by going to a page) and entered all the data in Sheps and my provider confirms that my phone hasn't appeared on his network.
One used to be able to invoke VoIP in your first ROM by clicking on the "Internet Calling" line on the screen. (then the ear piece didn't work) This line no longer seems to work?

Too funny :)
@xfooser - Unfortunately, not all BT devices are compatible with WM6 it seems. I know on various roms (that I've done, and that others have done) I've seen people say certain devices don't work on the rom. Not much of anything I can do there (as I recall, the sys packages from mattk_r that I used had an updated BT driver in it I believe. But you might try other roms to see if ti works on them. Crossbow Reloaded is similar to this rom but running on the Faria base rom. The other option is to switch to a build running on one of the mUn base roms (like NBD, NTS Vanilla, Xplore, etc). There are so many roms now, I can't remember which is running on which base, so look at the first post of each to determine this (most cooks post that info in the first post).
I tried other WM6 roms but I like this one the best. :)
After several days of playing with it, BT is finally working. Also, the wifi and GPRS is working together. I think most everything is working on this XDA6r2 Rom with 2.69.11 radio. I wish I knew exactly what I did to fix it other than several reflashing and hacking with it. One thing for sure, running BatteryStatus CpuScaler and CPU speed over 260 does make the comm (wifi and GPRS) freak out. I slowed it down to 260 and all seems to be very stable.
Actually, I do have one small remaining problem with the T-Mobile push mail. It stopped working with XDA6r2. Does anyone know how to install the original T-Mobile US email trigger mechanism on this rom?
Thanks.

In r2 and r2a I accidently left out SIP Config. You just have to install it yourself and then you can access this. In r3 I have put the Advanced Config's SIP Settings tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070
Just download and install the VoIP part of this on your r2/r2a install and you can configure using this.
BTW: Someone asked about fixing the VoIP through the speakers issue. If someone can point me to info on this (apparently this has been discussed in the Hermes forum) then I can look into this. I don't use VoIP so I have no experience with it and haven't followed updates on it closely.

I'm not the one to make the decision but it's my understanding that the beta is for 1) People who have contributed financially to the project and 2) have resolved any issues with r2a as they have to be able to debug and report on any issues and possible resolutions caused by the beta.
Since you are still having problems with r2a why on earth would you want to run something with the potential to cause even more issues?
Lastly, you've demonstrated several times already you don't pay attention to information you've already been given. Case in point is asking about sms/mms when the first post already pointed to a link explaining how to configure it. Asking me if my wifi worked..me replying YES IT DOES but I'm not on r2a at the moment so that doesn't help you. You asking me what rom I'm on..me answering..then you asking me if my WIFI works AGAIN.
I've already had to recover my phone from a minisd backup once due to issues with flashing one of the beta's...and averaged reflashing the phone about every 3 days. Stick with the main release and the next release will be out soon for everyone to work with.
As per the author's wishes, the beta is not to be discussed on the forum so I will not reply further on this topic.

I have not had to do anything special to make wifi work under r2a and forward..on other hand I have unlimited internet through tmobile so I am not using their proxy to get to the net. If you are using a proxy unde GPRS to get to the net, you will have to go into your settings and turn the proxy off before wifi is going to work for you. If you download Schap's Advanced config which is in another thread on XDA it has an option in it which says "turn off proxy when using wifi"...I assume this sets some sort of registry entry and may help you. You fail to specify if you are trying to connect to a public wifi with no password or one using encryption...if encryption is on..can other devices log onto the net or do they also have problems? If you delete your gprs setting entirely...turn off data connection, can you then turn on wifi and does it work? What applications are you using to "test" wifi? Have you tried more than just PIE? Try running synchrotime to sync your clock to a time server with gprs disabled while connected to wifi. Are you 1) Not able to even "connect" to wifi or 2) It shows connected but you can't navigate to any sites?
Provide details and someone will help.

I can connect very easily to wifi . opera browser works , resco radio and update works quit fine as well . PIE which I hate doesnt work at all. The programs I would like to connect would be aim , handitv, map4pda, mobitv, pocketirc, skype, traffic vizzion, traffic edge, Virtual earth mobile, Whoosh cam just to name a few.
Now you mention about turning the proxy off I never had to do that before so thats seems a but strange but ill try it since I dont use t-zones anyway . And that Schap's Advanced config I will test it to see if it works .
No I dont use gprs for internet just for extensive picture messaging. As I send easily a few thousand pics a month on a regular.

If you download the schap's advanced config and install it you can check the "disable proxy when using wifi" and it should handle it automatically. 1) Do you have a G3 or a G4 device? G4 device can be identified because the ipl/spl will be 2.xx.0001 and a G3 device will be just 2.xx
2) Have you ever successfully installed ANY rom beyond the base rom that came with the phone? Have you tried installing a newer release of the rom from your provider?
3) What did you use to CID unlock the phone?
4) What did you use to SIM unlock the phone?
5) Have you read any of the tutorials on XDA with step by step instructions on flashing including using lokiwiz to CID/SIM unlock?
Lastly, although people will surely help some...this thread was specifically designed by the author to address issues with HIS particular rom and not to be a turorial on HOW to flash rom's. There are other threads made sticky in both the wm5 and wm6 forum that address "How to flash a wizard" etc and you should really be asking your question THERE but they will want to know the information I asked you.

I did follow his instructions and at that time the wifi still didnt work. The other setting I had gotten was the reg edit of g vs b . Also when I removed the proxy not only did wifi not work but MMS also didnt .. After re-flashing becasue im a flash-a-holic I edited a few times and got MMS working . Then wifi was reconized but not working ... I listen to anyone who posts even if only 1 post. Guess there were so many clashing settings that once I did all settings manually everything is working now. Also I will try that program but am a person who tends to like to know the manual methid vs. a program.

did anyone solve that wifi-issue yet? my device doesn't find any APs (wififofum doesnt work aswell) when i create a ssid, wpa key and so on, it says "connecting" and after a few seconds "unavailable". My notebook can connect wothout any problems.
Perhaps, I don't understand the problem with wifi. I have been using wifi on my original TMO WM5 and XDA6r2 all along. It works great, however, I had to play with it a bit.
As I stated in my earlier post, the communication (wifi, BT, GPRS...) problems I had disappeared when I dropped the CPU speed below 260. I did this to get my connection working the first time. It might work for you.
- Reset your overclocking (if you use it) back to original. I go back to 200 (or 195).
- Pull the battery and reinstall (force reset)
- once the device stablizes (wait a minute or so) after reset, go directly to your wifi settings
- remove all wifi settings in Start-> settings-> connections-> network cards
- select Add new option to add a new connecton (SSID, security, password...)
- Use only access ports
- If you wait a bit, it will find all broadcasting SSIDs, including the ones you added. Usually it says "connecting...", Available, Unavailable, or Connected. I don't find it very accurate.
- I hold down the ones I don't want to connect and remove settings. I hold down the SSID I want to connect and select connect. You only need to do this once and it seems remember. I keep repeating this until it connects (a few times). Once it connects the first time, it seems to automatically reconnect again if you are in range, assuming you have the wifi on.
I found the wifi networking in this XDA6 rom to be much faster than the old TMO WM5 rom... once you connect, of course. :)

Okay this sim is very stable. I have had some reception problems lately though. These occur with the 2.25 cingular radio with the fix cab and with the tmobile 2.19 radio.
No matter what radio I use the phone and data turn off (usually during a call) and go from showing the Edge (E) symbol to No SIM. In the network area it will say either Invalid Sim or No Sim (switches back and forth).
It has done this 4 or 5 times. My phone has been unlocked since I got it about 1.5 years ago and this has been happening for the last 2 weeks or so. I can just do a soft reset or take the sim card out and reinsert it to make it go away to correct the problem, but it worries me. Does anyone have a solution.
I've included pictures of my screen. Any assistance is welcome.
PS - I wrote this here because it didn't happen until I started using this rom. Also - I have a G3 and I'm more than sure of it.
Also - my wife and I both have a phone line and her Sony Walkman W600i has reception and none of these problems.

Has it happened at least once when you were NOT overclocking the phone? If you haven't checked..run it at normal speed for a day or two and see if it happens.

Naw I haven't. The processor is just too slow for me to use it when I'm working (emails / calls / multitasking). I'll try it this weekend but this has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks and if it's usually during the week. Today is the first time it happened on the weekend.
I'll try it now without overclocking.

I second this! When I turn off battery status completely, many problems w/sim go away.
I had experienced the same problem when the MDA first came out. I used to switch between several phones, and just the little bit of bending on the SIM to get it out can really cause problems on some of them. I would try your wife's SIM to see if the problem goes away. I would suggest getting a new SIM if you don't run into any problems w/your wife's SIM.

Is there a fix for the "Bug / Feature" if GPRS is active missed calls don't show up? I love this rom except for that!!! I've got radio 2.69.11 w/ the cab loaded so I don't miss any calls or SMS... What you just said makes no sense. Your provider should be able to provide you a new SIM chip for no more than $15 dollars and put your current phone # on it. The phone does not have to be CID or SIM unlocked to get a new sim from the same provider and a SIM is not G3 or G4..the phone itself is.

Your provider decides if an incoming call will interrupt a data stream or not...Cingular interrupts..tmobile does not..it's not something you at the phone end are gonna change. None of this has anything to do with the XDA rom. People have more problems with the newer radio rom's then the older ones. 2.19 is the most stable... cingular 2.25.11 is next most stable. You should still get notification of voicemail if they leave one.

Once again...this missed call not showing up WHILE A DATA CONNECTION IS ACTIVE is an aspect of how your PROVIDER (Tmobile, Cingular etc) sets it up and nothing you do on your end will change it one way or the other. The missed calls people are having when their phone is IDLE can be affected by the radio rom you are using...the things the radio rom can also affect are reception (some rom's will give you reception where other's won't) and how much of the battery it drains. (some radio rom's use more battery because they are getting better reception).....

I've been using XM6.2a for some time now and with excellent results. My MDA has a new lease on life!
However, I discovered that ActiveSync 4.5 will not sync the My Documents folder with this ROM, no matter what I do. I have performed hard resets, I have flashed and re-flashed, I have deleted and renamed partnerships and folders, I have upgraded the IPL/SPL, and I have repaired then re-installed ActiveSync (with appropriate PC restarts and MDA resets). Nothing works, except when I go back to TMobile Official ROM. Then suddenly everything including the documents folder syncs normally.
Here's what happens:
1. ActiveSync recognizes the device and takes me to the wizard.
2. I go through the usual set up, clicking the data types I want to sync.
3. ActiveSync starts the sync process but "Files" appears momentarily and then disappears. The contacts, tasks, notes, etc. update, but not the sync folder.
4. I check options and I cannot select or deselect Files. Neither can I access the settings button because it is grayed out.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or is there a known solution?
This issue, unfortunately, might be a deal breaker for me.

I have not noticed an error when doing file sync but I'll try to check it later tonight....I'm going to assume both the Date/Time's of the pc and the phone are ok? ..ran into issues sync'ing my email when phone had screwy time/date.

The timezone on your phone is setup wrong...it gets the GMT time and add's or subtracts from that for instance eastern time is -5 from GMT and central time is -4......you should be able to change that under the clock or easier than that under timezones in phone settings you can set the phone to get it's time from your provider.

To run a custom rom (Read this as a rom that did not come directly from your provider (Cingular, Tmobile etc) 's website your phone does have to be sim and cid unlocked. If you want to run XDA6 rom then this will have to have been done..there are threads on how to accomplish that.
To run a provider's rom your phone does not have to be sim or cid unlocked.
If you have a bad sim and want to get it replaced (a sim is a single chip you slide into the phone which has your phone # information and can hold about 250 contacts worth of memory) you can do so without worrying about anything on the phone provided you are getting the new sim from the same provider as the old sim.

Have you tried a different deviceID? Also, have you manually removed the files shortcut on your desktop?
I take it it has worked in the past, so what has changed besides the ROM? Have you installed any other new PC software since the last working activesync? Do you have another PC to try it on just to test? Did you try a hard reset right after flashing the new rom? Are you trying an activesync directly after flashing or are you doing some setup functions first?
Have you stood up, turned in a circle three times, and then gotten something to drink? :D

I'm having the dreaded slow reboot issue, and I have read this and other threads. I seem to think it must be SPB Pocket Plus. I use SPB Pocket Plus, especially for the icon feature.
My question: is there another Today Screen Plugin that does that icon stuff?
Previously, I had troubles with XM6 R1 as well as XM6 R2 (this ROM). The phone used to take up to 4 minutes to boot on my cingular 8125 (stuck on last boot screen for several minutes), however once it booted it would run fine. Soft-resets became a pain in the @$$, as the boot time literally took FOREVER.
However, after spending quite a while, I FINALLY found the problem - a program I had installed, SPB Pocket Plus, was conflicting with something from XM6(however not with Crossbow 1.7). Uninstalling the program didn't help, so I had to hard-reset and re-install all my programs EXCEPT SPB Pocket Plus. Now my total boot time (time from hitting the power button to seeing the Today Screen) is under 45 seconds! Awesome!
To prove that it's SPB Pocket Plus causing this issue, I took my other wizard (T-mobile MDA) and flashed it to XM6 R2, then installed ONLY SPB Pocket Plus (nothing else). Guess what happened? 4-minute boot-up time again!
I only used SPB Pocket Plus because it added an "Alt-Tab" and "Close ALL" feature which I found extremely useful (anyone know of any other Alt-Tab solutions?).
Anyway, now that that's figured out, I'm running XM6 R2 flawlessly, 45 second boot times, and a total of 6 seconds to go to the /WINDOWS folder from root. I'm using the 2.69 radio with your fix and no missed calls yet. The ROM runs fast and perfectly, and no issues with the Program folder either. Thanks mfrazzz, I'll be sticking to this for a while! Keep cooking!

I think I'd prefer for it to sync to the storage card because if the file is important I'm gonna have it on the storage card rather than waste space on the phone....can put larger files on storage card and if rom is hosed I have the files in two places...storage card and sync'd pc.

A combination of "pbar" and "claunch" could do most of that for free....they both have threads on this forum..for claunch you'd want to look at the settings folks are using to set the icons to "iphone like" size.

Try putting the word "dummy" as both the user and pass...or any other string of characters..totally blank user/pass can cause problems. The *'s are simply an attempt to prevent someone from guessing how long the password is...it will show them no matter what the password is.

Doesn't sound like a rom issue if you are having it with multiple rom's...try entering the pass with all CAPS and without..it's possible capslock was on when you set it...samething for numlock. No one else has reported anything similar.

I know its been addressed but by chance I played with same exact program and the same issue occurred. Its like a 5 to 7 minute reboot. Yes that application definitely does have a deadly effect on this rom . I use resco which is decent but doesn't have all the icons of spb. I am about to experiment with different versions of the program and see if any tweaks will help it as I love the icon for wifi/bluetooth/phone/flightmode. The version I have played with is Spb Phone Suite v1.0 ENG. Il update you on my findings .

Tried running on t-mobile MDA with 2.26 IPL/SPL and unlocked CID...after repeated attempts...keep hanging @ 99% load with 302 Communications error... Always can recover to 2.26 or earlier downgrade..but can't get you R2a to fly...any thoughts ?
Start by searching for 302 error. Don't use the site search - it's crap. Use Google instead.

Yesterday, I installed SMS-over-IP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321137) to escape my telco's outrageous rate of 30 cents for international SMSes. Since that required me to open a VoipBuster (http://www.voipbuster.com/en/index.html) account, I thought I might as well give it a try to get VoiP working. After installing the required cab building tool, the Voip was working in no time, thanks to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950).
The thing that took most time was finding the right number translation, aka "dailplan (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1368633&highlight=dialplan#post1368633)" (\Windows\ipdialplan.xml). It is required, sind the '+' prefix cannot be used, it has to be translated to '00'.
Like with Skype, sound cannot be redirected to the earpiece. So you always have to use a headset, either wired or BT. Otherwise, it works pretty cool! This ROM has scored another point again.

I think I'd prefer for it to sync to the storage card because if the file is important I'm gonna have it on the storage card rather than waste space on the phone....can put larger files on storage card and if rom is hosed I have the files in two places...storage card and sync'd pc.
Of Course, BUT if you don't have an SD or remove while attempting to sync, Activesync will remove the files sync option.
Furthermore ActiveSync behaves strangely, constantly re-syncing...

Asking people in the R2a thread if they think you should run their rom is like walking into Dell and saying "Hey..do you guys think I should buy a Dell?"
A more objecive answer would be to make a general post asking about which rom's appear to be most stable or doing a poll and listing r2a as one of the choices.

Unfortunately, I've hit a snag with the r3 release and last week (and most likely this week too) I've been swamped with work and family activities (school starting back for my kids and wife). So r3 will be at LEAST a week away I'm guessing. But it is coming, and I think everyone will be happy with it. I just don't want to release something with bugs.

No problem mfrazzz... take the time you need. Your ROM is by far the most stable. Applied some tweaks specific for the 8125 and seemed to make it even more fast. We await your next release.

I don't want to say too much beyond what famewolf said, as the snag I hit may mean I have to pull out some of the planned new stuff I was adding due to space restrictions.
I will say that right now, HTC X-Button is gone and pBar has replaced it. Also, Wififofum will be replaced with peekpocket (nothing new, as I've said both of these in the past). And BlueTooth DUN will be back (especially nice for those that connect to a Mac or Linux box instead of Windows). WM6 Internet Sharing will still be there, so you can choose which way to connect.
There's more, but since I don't know whats going and staying yet, I won't comment further at this time.
Patience is a virtue ;) Good things come to those that wait... :D

While I'm certain he always appreciate's contributions in this case all the donations in the world won't speed up the process of making a new build and running it through a beta test to work out the kinks..or give him time he currently doesn't have. Trust me when I say, the testers are just as anxious to get this working as you are to run it. It's only fun for a while to be reflashing your phone every other day and re-installing all your settings etc.

I haven't switched to the touch dial pad, afraid I wont love it.
I have 2 questions that I havent seen come up yet. Didn't read all 63 pages of this thread but read most.
1. For some reason my pretty font in com manger changed to a block font
SOMETHING LIKE THIS
I dont know when it happened but would like to change back to the font that was there after flashing.
2. I loaded the voip program but dont have anything in programs to set up. In the secont post of this thread you gave the following info:
# Install the wm6voip.cab.
# Restart your Wizard (Soft Reset).
# Go to Start > Programs > Accessories and open SIPConfig Aplication.
I dont have an accessories folder in my programs and have looked everywhere for SIPConfig??
I might just be going loopey, I have been up everynight late since flashing to XDA M6R2a.
If you know where I am going wrong please let me know. Maybe I can get some sleep before R3.
Thanks again!

I had never seen this before, but just ran into the exact same thing on my latest beta version of XM6r3. The problem appears to be with WeatherPanel, but I'm still trying to figure out why it happened. Others running my beta seem fine, so I don't know if its a sign of a bad flash or what. I'll update later as I try to figure this out as I'm sure it will apply to the r2 rom.

Thats a cut and paste error... In r2 I moved everything to a Toolbox folder (original version had Accessories folder). The second part is I left out SIPConfig from the r2 rom :(. So you can either install SIPConfig or use Schap's VoIP Config (thats what will be in r3) located here:

Ok, I think I figured this out... First off, I normally do NOT use the Default theme with WeatherPanel, so thats why I had never seen this before. It turns out there is a font file called pixel.ttf in the default theme folder for WeatherPanel and this screws up the CommManager (and Opera Mobile) fonts. You can get rid of this font by going to Start > Settings > Today > Items and then uncheck WeatherPanel. Now use TotalCommander and delete the pixel.ttf font file. Now go back and turn WeatherPanel back on. This should fix the problem (but I'm not sure what impact it has on the display of weatherpanel information).
Personally I use the Chameleon 240 theme. Here's my post on how to use that theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307781
Hope that helps!

New user here, finally decided to 'upgrade' my 8125. Followed the directions posted around here to the letter; verified G3, CID unlocking, then upgraded to the 2.26 T-Mobile ROM, then upgraded to this one. Everything worked flawlessly. I don't know why I didn't upgrade my 8125 sooner! I can't believe how much faster and smoother it works compared to the Cingular ROM. It's given my 8125 a new life.

Hey, Mfrazzz, a request for the next version. Whatever application you use for the x-button, can you set it so that it won't close an app with a single tap? That's my biggest complaint about the current version. I prefer more like the HTC X-button program where tapping the x "minimizes" the program but tap and hold on the x closes the program out.

Why don't you just go to settings, System, x-button and change the settings yourself?
I would think that would be easier (and quicker) than asking someone to change the default ROM for you.

X-Button and pBar are completely configurable. I have found that most people (myself included) want the X Button to really close and not just minimize so thats the default I use. After you install the rom, you just go in and change it for how you want it.
And if thats your biggest complaint about XM6r2, I think I've done my job pretty well (as I see that as being pretty minor) ;).
Just as an FYI, XM6r3 is REALLY close. I just released a beta (I hope this will be the actual release build). So unless something major shows up, look for a release in the next 24 - 36 hours. Lots of good stuff and improvements (IMO). I think people will be very happy with this release (and I'm planning on running it for awhile myself).

Thanks, I didn't realize the setting could be changed. I keep finding myself hitting the x button to switch out of a program and then have to wait for it to reload itself and get back to where I was the next time I use it. I only mentioned it because you had said you were changing apps and I wasn't sure if the new one would allow you to do either. I haven't had too many problems really beyond that, though I've only had it on there a couple of weeks having switched from NBD since I needed the extra memory for running Freestyl (http://www.whoneedsaniphone.com). Actually, I HAVE started having a problem with tmail.exe freezing with 100% cpu usage and crapping out my phone requiring a soft reset. That just started today and I'm not sure why yet. I'm trying to hold off on hard resetting since you said you have a new version coming out and it's a pita to have to get everything reinstalled and reconfigured (the other part of why I stopped going with NBD).

Yes its too late for r3, but to be honest, touchflo (and especially the cube) are not high on my list. Zoki is doing an excellent job with that, and for now NBD is the way to go for that (IMO).

Well...I already installed pbar when r2a already had x-button..just went into xbutton settings and disabled the checkbox's for it to be used...and enabled pbar.
As for memory and storage ..I don't remember and I'm running a beta which is giving me around 39 meg of phone storage and 25 meg of memory at bootup after installing all the stuff I normally run...and it's pretty packed to the gills...thats the R3 version hopefully everyone will have access to in a day or two. I think I might of hosed my phone.
This is some of the information that I wrote down.
Cingular 8125
IPL 2.25
PL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 02.25.11.1
Then I installed the Wizard Love, that updated OS to 2.26.10.2
G4 phone
Everything was fine.
Then I downloaded the XDA Mobile 6 r2a
and it fails at 99% says error 302 update error.
I tried XDA Mobile 6 r2 same thing
I then tried Wizrd Love, same thing.
Not sure if hard boot will do anything here, Or I have the WM5 cd.
When I start it up I get the rainbow colors.

Based on your IPL/SPL above, you have a G3 and not a G4 (G4 ends in .0001, so like 2.26.0001). If you are at the rainbow screen, then you are not hosed / bricked. Go get the latest official rom for your phone and flash it. YOU then need to do the CID Unlock procedure. See the stickie at the top of this forum on flashing your phone as it will step you through it. Do EVERYTHING, don't skip a step. Post further issues with flashing in that (or another flashing thread) as this thread is for supporting XM6r2a.
Good luck

Additionally I also told you that the beta was distributed to those who've donated to support mfrazzz's work.
I want to clear one thing up here... Donating does not get you into the beta testers. I have people doing beta that have not donated (and some that have). I pick beta testers based on posts I see from them in the forums (not just this thread) and based on things I look for (heck, I've had people with only one post help beta a rom as it gives me a newbie view, which helps with the quality of the product).
I just want to make it clear that you can't buy your way into the beta program, and I'm not trying to make a buck on this in that manner.
XM6r3 STATUS: Another beta build just went out to the testers. I think I have the glitch finally fixed. The rom will NOT be out today. Tuesday afternoon / evening (Mountain Daylight Time) at the earliest now... It will be worth the wait though...

I'm just getting started here and this is my first post.
Thanks to mfrazzz for the ROM he's made available here, and to all the other participants in this thread and this forum.
I've installed XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a, and everything is working for me so far. I'm still exploring all the new stuff in WM6 and the apps that were cooked in to the ROM.
With WM5, I used voice tags in contacts, but I've always wanted to be able to dial a number using voice. I installed MS Voice Command 1.6 US, and I'm playing with it, but it doesn't work with my Bluetooth headset.
I've been searching through this thread and I don't see anthing about getting that to work. I have seen some instructions in other threads for other WM6 ROMs, but I'm not confident those instruction are relevant to the ROM in this thread.
Please advise if it's possible to get MS Voice Command 1.6 US to work with Bluetooth headsets with XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a.
Thanks, XdaFile
Update
It must have been user error!
I can press the voice dial button on the bluetooth headset to initiate a Voice Command interaction, just like the MS Voice Command help doc says.

Thank you very much for prompt answer, Famewolf.
Wow, being awake all night... It sounds like you're having lots of fun with this ROM.:) And it sounds like a lot of memory for a ROM that full. Is it 39M with the loaded version or with the light one?...
I've tried the original version of that ROM when it was released. It was very nice visually but had some issues with stability (disappearing phone app, SD card was recognized at first but not later, etc). Some of these issues turned out to be due to Bat Status (I posted an exact description of Bat Stat symptoms in another thread dealing with NTS's Jag; but problems are similar with other ROMs, too). It turned out that some Bat Stat versions cause severe problems upon soft reset - and some don't (Cing8125 pointed to a safe version). Mfazz, if you're reading this, you might wish to warn people about it in the first couple of posts where you're mentioning Bat Stat.
Famewolf, how about the speed and stability of the current version?...
We are trying to nail down a glitch in the current beta to be ready for distribution ( I was up till around 3am flashing my phone with a test build). It's 8:28am here now. ;)

I only run the "full" version but the rom doesn't use an extended rom so all available phone storage should be available. I just installed weatherpanel and a skin for it to phone storage..that took about 2 meg so I'm currently down to 37.3 meg of phone storage free with memory going from 20 to 25 meg depending on what I'm running. It would really be better if you read the thread to verify what I'm telling you but mfrazzz's rom's are known for being very stable...the new one hopefully will continue that tradition which is why weve been testing it so much (it's 04:11 am here and I finished installing the latest build about an hour ago which fixed a broken shortcut and added some registry tweaks to speed up PIE surfing. I use batterystatus with dynamic scaling..as long as you don't try to overclock higher than the 260 mfrazzz suggests as a cap you should be fine. I posted screenshots of my today, dialer, and music player a few posts back. When the new release comes out give it a try and you can tell US how it compares to the other rom's. ;)

So you can either install SIPConfig or use Schap's VoIP Config (thats what will be in r3) located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070
I had realized that it was weather panel that was screw'n with my comm manager. I had shut it down, since I couldnt get it to connect using gprs. So, I went back to Tonaya weather. Not as nice, and the info is often inacurate but it is pretty and works over GPRS.

When I tried Voipbuster, I didn't need to give any payment details until I actually bought credit. I guess you mean with 'free landline' not an actual landline (how could that be free?) but a phone number for receiving calls. Voipbuster offers that for just 1 euro (http://www.voipbuster.com/en/voip-in.html).

There is not, and to my knowledge never has been a program called "TimeWizard" in either r2a or the new version r3. The link to the new version is in my signature. You obviously have flashed something other than what you think you flashed or your phone is still cid locked and is not allowing the update. You should read the 1st post and follow the links to the step by step instructions on how to flash a rom and how to cid and sim unlock it.
As to your contacts...if they were on your phone the flash will wipe them...you should have backed them up with pim backup prior to flashing. If they were on your sim then they are hidden by default..you can use the sim manager to copy them to phone or in R3 you can run Schaps Advanced config and disable hiding of sim contacts.

To take a simple soluton from 1 of my own post just 3 pages back mate.
Ok .. 1 little other iota. I know you can reg edit it but the contacts for sim are already hidden. Is there a setting for this or do I have to reg it back to normal ...
Hide SIM contacts
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
Key: ShowSim (dWord)
Value: 0 = hide
1 = show

Flash back to your factory rom. Make sure all is working . Then try flashing again . If it fails then try the lite version. Have you tried any other version of this rom previous to ver3.

Contrary to what some have told you, you posted in the correct place. Each version has it's own thread and is for the support of that version only.
That being said, unless an issue has already been addressed in your thread before you are going to find a hard time getting support for issues since most of the people will have moved on to the newer versions. We are going to be unable to recreate errors you have because we are not running the same rom anymore.
Your choices become hoping someone is still running the older rom that has encountered your issue, hoping it's an issue already documented in the thread (which is why the old threads are kept) or moving to the newer version.
I can fully understand you wanting to stay with a version of the rom that works for you. If you have access to something like sprite backup I recommend you do a full rom backup, try the new rom to see if it corrects your issues and if not, then you can revert back to the rom you were on in a short amount of time.
I can also tell you this..I knew nothing about Voice command but I installed the program using the links provided in the R3 thread and have been playing around with it..other than having to move it from the "messages" button to "button 4" I did not encounter any issues. (I used the US version)...you might see if his links are for newer versions in the R3 thread for either.

I want to say thank you for this release. I own an i-mate K-JAM and was very sceptical to replace WM5 but I really wanted WM6 and since there is no 'official' release I decided to go with this one... Man oh man! The device was never the same again. It is so much more stable than it ever was with the official WM5 rom from i-mate.
I also flashed 2 of my friends devices and they also agree. The device has definitely gotten a new lease on life. The only reason I will upgrade the hardware now will be to get HSDPA funtionality but software wise i rally dont need anything more than I got with this release.
Thank you very much again mfrazzz

for the @ sign i have to go blue button + D

Asking people in the R2a thread if they think you should run their rom is like walking into Dell and saying "Hey..do you guys think I should buy a Dell?"
A more objecive answer would be to make a general post asking about which rom's appear to be most stable or doing a poll and listing r2a as one of the choices.
Has anyone ever responded to such a question? Or ventured an opinion as to which ROMs are more suitable for which purposes?

As far as I know there is no per say best rom . There are many roms which are fast ,powerful , lite or what ever other choice you may choose. Roms are like women, choose what you like.
