The price is back up but you have to remember that it comes with the battery charger. So you get both a battery and a charger.

They are still out-of-stock but we do have some coming in by sea. This means by the end of August we should have them. However, we are considering getting some by Air. If you think you'd like to be among the first, let me know and if there is enough interest, we'll have some flown in.

Sorry, I'm out of the office and away from the phone at the moment, is this a much higher capacity, and if so, by how much, will it be noticiably better?

Cheers.

Is it the same size as the standard battery? Can we get it without the charger?

(Sorry, I was away for the weekend and didn't have internet access.)

The battery is 2400mAh while the OEM battery is 2200mAh (I think). This will give about 10% more capacity. But it does come with its own charger. I was just checking to see how many were immediately interested to see if we should wait until the ocean shipment arrives or should we bring in some by air. I will let you know soon what we decide.

Im sorry to look like a killjoy or a spoilsport, but why paying 80$ for that battery which needs a specific charger (as from what I understood)
when for 71€ you can buy this superb HTC X7500 VGA Cradle With Spare Battery 2200mAh.

This still my own opinion and I respect yours ;)

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the battery also charges while inside the phone like the stock battery. Why wouldn't it? Isn't the charger that comes with the battery so you can charge up your spare? Let me know guys because if BigDede is right, then it would suck.

I agree with you and it should charge in the phone and use the charger for either spare battery.

If it is like other Mugen/Lion offerings then the charger is a slot type that will charge both the OEM and the Mugen battery. It is not some proprietary offering that will plug into the Mugen. Think about it guys...it has to be pin compatible with the Athena and it's circuitry.

Sorry guys but I've been out for a few days. Beleive it or not, I had a heart attack on Wednesday and got home from the hospital yesterday. This is my first time back on the computer (Sunday). So, the charger that comes with the battery is a spare charger. It is not a cradle for the complete device. The battery can be placed on the device and charged in the standard cradle, or you can place the OEM battery on the Mugen Charger and charge it. If you don't want to use the charger, then don't. Use the OEM one. The only reason that the battery comes with the charger is to give you a new option for charging both batteries.

I will see what I can do about getting a group discount for everyone here. I actually think it may be possible. Let me fire off an email to Mugen today and listen to their answer tomorrow.

My doctor says that I now have to work a little slower than before.

I hate hospitals so I better listen to him.

Quick note before i ask a question to you all

Mark@LiIonBattery - Get well soon matey, take it easy and slowly get back into things. A friend of mine who I work with had the same thing happen to him, with plenty of rest hes fine now.

Im looking at the 3rd Party Batterys on offer as ive starting using my Ameo away from power sources over the weekend, camping, etc so require a spare battery, would like an extended life one, but otherwise a 2200mah one would be fine.

Anyone seen or used any of the items below.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2200mAH-Battery-for-Dopod-U1000-HTC-X7500-T-moble-AMeo_W0QQitemZ260146071094QQihZ016QQcategoryZ15034 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or this one, with desktop charger looks like a good deal

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Battery-Charger-for-HTC-Advantage-X7500-Athena-U1000_W0QQitemZ290144596510QQihZ019QQcategoryZ7544 6QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Any information or feedback would be great. Ive ordered 3rd party batterys before for digital cameras and find they dont last as long as the manufacturers which as i suppose they are considerably cheaper then thats understandable.

Thanks for your info guys

Thats what i thought, i may just get one and see how it perfoms. 6 Month warranty i suppose thats ok, considering the price and the one with the desktop charger looks good.

Will buy one now and report back on the performance. Im just concerned that cheap price, means cheap battery. You gets what ya pays for these days! If it means spending a bit more for a decent battery that works then im sure many people on this forum will be more than happy spending the bit extra.

Yeah, I ran out juice for the fist time yesterday. I started around 8am and by 4pm I was at 20%. I use the Navigation for 2 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. I was also on phone calls for about 45 mins. I did e-mails (75 incoming and 30 outgoing) all day long in a mostly 3G area. Took some pictures, play a couple of 10 minutes games, surf the net, and watched my slingbox for 15mins. Not bad for a day where I was running some errands. On my way home after 4pm, I plugged my Advantage to my APC Mobile Power Pack and navigated home while talking on the phone (about 1 1/2 hours). At home I did another 10 e-mails. APC Mobile Power Pack ran out of juice and left me with 50% battery.

Not bad at all, but I am sure a 2nd Battery with the little bit more juice than the standard battery would have done better.

Just my 2 cents

Mark,

I have a question about the charger that comes with the spare battery.
Is it 5V 1A (output)?? im asking as the original charger of the Athena as
well as the dockstation I bought are both 5V 1A (output) ...
My old QTEK 2020i had a charger of 5V 2A (output)

If I use a 5V 2A charger with the Athena it will charge the battery faster, but will this affect the battery life or harm the device???

azcaddman
11th August 2007, 01:38 AM
just because the charger says 1A on it, dont count on that all going into the battery.

I was using mine last weekend, gps, plugged into car charger (1A), and after 8hrs or so, the battery was down to 5% .. and this was with screen brightness turned to about 50%.

so, out comes the amp-clamp meter, and i slice apart a 'sacrificial' usb extender cable to get to the individual wires.

usb on computer to x7501 with generic usb - mini usb cable .. average draw 0.35-0.38 amp

Tekkeon My Power Go (http://www.tekkeon.com/site/products-mypowergo.php) using generic cable = 0.40-0.44 amp

Tekkeon using its own cable/usb tip = 0.25 amp

wall charger from HTC - couldnt test it, I dont have a 5pin-5pin extender to cut open.

just got the DUO Mini-5 Adapter (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~HTC_Advantage-895~area~accessories-htc+advantage+lil%27+sync%AE+cable+accessories~ite m~LSP-DUOADPT01.htm) .. with it inline

computer usb to Duo-Mini to x7501 = 0.75-0.78 amp

tekkeon battery to duo-mini to x7501 (generic cable) 0.75-0.78 amp

tekkeon battery to duo mini to x7501 (tekkeon battery/tip) = 0.25 amp

so, the duo mini should make a big diff in the charge times, and hopefuly at least keep the battery level up where it was when you started in car w/gps going (no net loss, hopefuly net gain, will try it tomorrow and see)

I can say then that using a 5V 2A charger can be a good thing then to accelerate the charging time, specially if im using my device while charging ...

To answer your question about the charger: You could use the 5V 2A charger for our SC-U1000, but it would not boot up the charging speed. Since we had an IC inside the Safety Unit which control the input current and limit it as 5A 1V. It will still charge but not any faster. We limit the current going in.

I hope that this answers your question.

I have been silent these past few days because I am anxiously waiting for the batteries as well. Our schedule shows that they should be here for Friday (or so). We are pushing to get them cleared through customs but they haven't even hit customs. As soon as we have news that they are awaiting customs release we know that it'll take 1-2 more days to get to our door. At that time I'll let yo uknow what the discount is and we'll begin taking orders. (I do not want to give any competitors a head start.)

Cleared customs and expected in our warehouse on Monday. We've already added them to our online inventory (can be seen HERE (http://www.lionbattery.com/description.php?noproduit=1541)), so we can start accepting orders. Now, as for the discount....

When you place your online order, if you use the discount code: xda-developers15 you will save 15% on both the product and shipping costs. Just keep in mind that this discount is only until September 1. After that, it will expire.

Enjoy!

Check your @bigfoot.com email. It was sent to that address.

Mark :D

Bigfoot is having technical issues which is the reason I switched my e-mail. No worries, I am just going to be looking for the mail man every day until it arrives:)

Edit: Got my battery today and so I will see how well it performed.

Thanks as usual Mark.

If it comes from this guy it is a FAKE, badly made copythat does not fit the supplied charger!
I have 6 pictures to show the differences!
e-mail: harjac@skynet.be

and he pretends it is "just from another factory" when the label says Sanyo!
this is his details:

Please explain and remember this is an English forum. We welcome everyone but would like a common language to communicate with. I know English is not the first language for everyone on the forum but we all do the best we can.

Would love to order one of these... International shipping costs (to the UK) are a bit steep, though - $55? ouch... Even with the 15% off, it still comes to a total cost of $115... Wallet's going to hate me if I do that...

Any verdict yet about the usability of the desktop charger and battery?

Are you asking about the ones that LionBattery sells?

Just a heads up...the batteries come with a charger but no cable nor plug. It's the battery inside the charger that has a female USB port to plug your cable/wall plug into. Still works perfectly for me. :-)

So it is a replacement battery for the Amea, to be placed in a batteryholder which has a female (mini) USB plug?

Sounds good. Any idea about the capacity of the battery?
