htc touch-like media player skin, portrait & landscape

hi folks,

the htc audiomanager didnt work well for me, so i made a skin for the built-in media player based on the new htc touch dialer-pad.

Screens showing Portrait and Landscape Mode as well as Video Playback.

Nice skin :) About the progress bar i would make the triangle a little smaller and bring it down a touch excuse the pun. Try the triangle in grey or black as well - keep up the good work.

On second thought a blue rectangle - longitudinal would also be good to match the blue background. Also perhaps a faint grey groove would look better than the white line. These skins are not as easy as they look, done some myself in the past so i can appreciate it.

ill during the day redisign the surface a lil, correct and change something in graphics

also landscape is sure in my mind

the slider is a lil uninspired :P - im thinking about different places to put or alternative appearance, and im thinking about how to keep him usable with fingertouch or not :) as ff and rw is also possible by d-pad

about the blue color... its given by design of htc touch, i also removed in that dialpad the gray effect on last-call screen to keep design clear :P

will see how far ill go today :))

Try a basic landscape first - in my experience media player does not change skin automatically in landscape mode except the default skin. You have to goto landscape view first then change the skin. It will only work on auto if you overwrite default skin in \windows. Most skins i have seen do not include landscape view because of this. Prove me wrong if you can :) Just thought i might save you alot of work.

:) yes ive allready seen - had to search and apply skin in landscape mode again, after itl be changed automatically... well i was wondering how to write a skinfile wm will apply for both views by itself, good to know it wont work :)

Hi, Looks fabulous.I have an issue, I unzipped the contents and copies them to \Program Files\Windows Media Player, but when I go to settings and choose the skins tab, the skin is not showing up. I use WMP 10 on Jam/ Magician.

maybe someone who is more experienced in this can help...

Sigh!, Tried the final version , same issue. Not sure what the issue is. Just to check I downloaded few skins to try out, few worked and majority of them didn't. :-(.

Try look in the .skn files, look in first line, try find out differences of supported player versions:

If i remember correctly wm5\wm6 media player skins will not work under wm2003 - skn and files used are of diff format.

Sorry for all the trouble.Though my WMP says it is version 10.x ( see screenshot), I am able to access only skins for versions 8 till 9. What a dumbass I am.
So my options are either to learn skinning or patiently wait for a skin comaptible with versions 8/9. (cry)

Thanks for including the PSD files. While I like the style of the touch, I'm not too fond of the blue. I'm also modifiing your theme to add a little more depth to the feel of the interface.

it sounds like no problem, u only have to search and apply this skin in landscape too, once done changing works.

daddy_yankee1980, here's what I did to get both skins working....

I unzipped the file onto my storage card into it's own folder. Then went into WMP and clicked on Menu|Options|Skins and waited while it searched for skins. It found the new skin, and I clicked ok. Then I went into landscape mode and did the same thing. Now I have the skin in both orientations.

Nice - easy to use.

I think I need to change the touched button color to be a shade off of the Album Art background but other than that - awesome work & thanks for including the PSD files!

Ok, I took a few seconds tonite and modified 3 files...

1) Landscape_96dpi.png
2) Portrait_96dpi.png
3) slider_96dpi.png

So - things now match the HTC Audio Manager skin a little more closely. Oh and I took a little liberty and threw in the HTC logo - blended to match the skin.

If you like - just substitue these for those in post #1 for a different look.

Yes, the top button with two overlapping rectangles switches it to fullscreen landscape mode.

First off, outstanding skin & thanks for your work. Second, sorry if this is a bit OT, but I'm hoping it might just be a skinning issue. Has anyone ever found a workaround for the rotten "back" button in the library of WMP? Why is this not mapped to the left side of the D-pad? Everything else can be navigated by the D-pad except the "back" button. Is this something fixable by skinning or is it in the reg/app settings? I've been looking for a way around this for a while, but haven't found anything.

Well nice to hear this skin still isnt unpopular :D
Unfortunately ive got neither time nor a phone with such a resolution.... (still stuck on wizard, originally posted this skin in that forum).

This answer just for now, maybe things change later this year...
