View Full Version : Updated 7.9.04 318 TouchFlo Beta ROM Test v2.0
mattk_r
8th July 2007, 09:27 PM
If you've used any of my roms, you know what I like to put in them.
Here is my second build that I got working using Whiterat's Touch components ingegrated into the base 318 ROM.
Please give it a try, and post what issues you find. The more testing now, the better the kitchen :)
We're also beta testing the new kitchen, which will get updated once we are sure it's relatively bug-free.

No images on the Beam icon in the comm manager. After a reset, press it once to turn it OFF. It's on by default. Saves battery juice :)

Pandora rom with touchflo. This isn't a release, so if you're not comfortable with my stuff, don't worry about it.

I only include the nb.nbf to keep it simple (for me anyway  ) If you have another rom package, just replace the nb file with this one :)

Not bad! Definitely seems faster than the other Touchflo roms. Wi-Fi seems fine; bluetooth sync's ok to my pc. Calls seem fine.
Sometimes I have to double-tap the ok to exit a program; I don't remember doing that before. Not a huge deal, though.
Did you mean to leave the O2 connection settings integrated? No big deal; I deleted them (I'm on Cingular).
Is the cube integrated in this one? It doesn't launch on the softbutton.

O2? Hmmm... are those WAP settings? I must have missed them in the OEM_Lang_409 reg settings.
If you press button 4 (formerly Calander), you will have that function.

Flash the ROM and find out. If you don't want to do that, then visit some of Matt's other ROM threads and see if Live is something he's put into them. If he has, then Live might be in this one.
It doesn't matter - this is a beta test, just to see what does and does not work, so the final version will be bug free and the kitchen will also be bug free.

True, and true. I was thinking about extracting the OE calc and giving a choice, but haven't gotten that far yet.
Windows Live was just too big to fit it in with the touch files

OEM\OEMOPERATORS\mxipupdate_zz_oemoperators_999_PP C+All_O2UKSetting.provxml
Also replace the attached file in OEMOPERATORS
Remember to remove .txt extension :)
(I removed SampleMMSC from mine, as I say It was literally just designed for my wizard hehe)

With this rom everthing works fine but I am unable to set the tones (anytone), i go to the sounds section and select the tones i want for each action but when i click ok the window does not close at all and ALL the tones I set revert back to the default tones/settings
and another thing is the boot up time Is kinda long .......................... hope these get solved in the final release
thanks

Boot time doesn't suprise me, cause this is a FAT load. It's got parts of the kitchen sink too. I'm afraid to see how many files it has

i have trouble with the ok/X button ... :-(
i realigned the screen like in the other touchflo but no luck...
and also some freezes... overall is much worse than the one in NBD 7.4 but it`s a beta, i hope it gets better

If I remember, 7.4 is based on the 1413 base, and has a much easier transition to the touch software since it's a much newer build. 318 has quite a few differences that need ironed out :)
Do you have the ok issue on every screen? I only have a problem in Phone, but otherwise the alignment issue seems typical.
Anyone else see similar / different issues on this topic?

in most of the screens, it`s verry annoying to have to click ok many times.
and if i click right in the corner sometimes i activate todat plugins (like i`ve clicked in the middle of the screen) or even the right buttom key

With regards to people having ringtone problems (as I did) it is to do with the Lockstream DRM client in OEMAPPS.
If you look at my OEMAPPS folder I sent to you, that should give you the answers.
Remove too much - Loose Quickdial
Remove too little - Cant set tones
Its a tough world ;)

i think it also leaks memory, after some hours of using this i have under 10mb of free ram with all programs closed. This also happend in NBD 7.4 and it was not the case with TNT3.0 (but this one does not have the touch).

i just broke my phone for the first time...
i will flash from 3color screen.
i try to run a backup using sktools. I tried to backup Poutlook folders.
this requires a reboot before restart, and after reboot ... well... my phone will just not boot anymore, stuck at the third screen...
I think this rom is somehow instable but i cannot pinpoint the cause...
thanks for it anyway and i home my input will help someone somehow.
I will take a brake now from testing and will enjoy for some time (1 day max :D ) with the NBD 7.4 now that it finally had the BT fixed.

Just a thought - x-button is set to press and hold. Was there a bunch of programs open causing the mem consumption?

Read the post, it is a BETA rom. If you are looking for a polished rom, look elsewhere, if you are looking to help find bugs, then flash it and find out.

It's actually pretty nice :)
But yes, it does.
Just for a quick rundown:
Live
Entertainment
WMP
Office 2k7
x-button 1.0
battery status 0218
reg tweaks
common utilities

I love this beta v2 Rom :)
but there are still some bugs:
-I can't turn off my device by pressing and holding the power button=> Wonder if it can be helped by some registry tweaks ?
-Battery drains too fast
-I've deleted the link APlauncher.lnk and sddeamon.lnk in startup folder
-Today music plugin links to WMP instead of Audiomanager

Yeah, that one is still pending fix

Still evaluating the effect of touchflo :)
-I've deleted the link APlauncher.lnk and sddeamon.lnk in startup folder
If you delete APLauncher or QuickDial, your TouchFlo won't work right on reset. You can safely delete sddaemon and poutlook though
-Today music plugin links to WMP instead of Audiomanager
As far as I know, this is supposed to be that way, though it would be nice if it could run the Audio Manager - never looked into it
Thanks for the feedback!

Matt:
You can remove all touch files from startup without any problems.
Pros:
Saves about 2mb of ram at boot up
Cons:
The cube is a little slow on first load

Hmmm. I only did one test and when I removed quickdial from startup it didn't work - but then I was probably doing 12 other things and can't be sure what I did

Here's a set of images for the 8-Button comm manager if you kept the IR setting rather than ActiveSync.

These are on the version before yesterday's.
1. The Ok button does not work (alignment problems?) I did not see this in the nbd ROM.
2. The camera button throws a 'no shortcut' error. This is with or without the selection of 'camera 3' during buildos.
3. The non-US cities seem to be only NL and BE.
I am downloading the latest version. Would try it out soon.
BTW, the nbd ROM uses the left softkey to invoke touchflo from the today screen; that seemed a neat feature.

In addition...
Working:
1. Bluetooth is working too :D
2. SMS sent notification is working :D
3. For some reason, I really like the camera here
Problems (minor):
1. Beam image on activesync
2. I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this, but memory leak seems to be an issue too. Not that bad though.
Wish list:
1. a phone pad (kind of like what nbd 7.5 has<--not the main phone thingy)
2. a version without 3rd party would be nice too ;)
Keep it coming guys so he knows what to work on and keep it positive.

:) :)See Post #51 - OP doesn't want to release new ROM but working on updating the kitchen.
From my experience, this is a very stable and functional ROM (I am running on it now). There might be some small issues such as apps you want are not included. However it should be easy to take care of by yourself.
