Can a X7501 ROM be extracted and flashed onto a X7500?

This may be old news but the X7501 is now available for purchase

and it is quite a bit cheaper than the X7500 too :-( (why???)

Why bother to do so?
1. The official WM6 ROM is almost ready for download.
2. Camera utility may not have icon that can switch between front and rear cam as 7500 does. (but I am not sure about that.)

my next question is; what's so great about the X7501 ROM anyway?

I would hope that the 7501 ROM is actually the full release, so if we could get a copy of that now, we would have something better than the pre-release posted to us all previously. ...Surely the 7501 ROM can't have some of the bugs that I am seeing in the pre-release ROM....

There is nothing really wrong with the one we have right now! Remember, just because it is "official" does not necessarily make it good (or better)!
If you are that nervous about it, then wait for HTC to release theirs and use it!

It doesn't work - no surprises really :)

Now, I have bricked my gizmo and I need help getting it back into a useful state. It boots to the rainbow IPL / SPL screen (IPL v1.00 / SPL 1.07 if anyone is interested) and that is about it.

I need some clear pointers as to how to get this puppy back into existence.

It doesn't work - no surprises really :)

Now, I have bricked my gizmo and I need help getting it back into a useful state. It boots to the rainbow IPL / SPL screen (IPL v1.00 / SPL 1.07 if anyone is interested) and that is about it.

I need some clear pointers as to how to get this puppy back into existence.

Sigh .... you did at least have the common sense to simunlock and SuperCID your device first before trying on a ROM image that was not meant for your device?

Reflash it with the original rom that it came with! Then use the unlocker from Olipro, and follow all of the instructions, to cid unlock your device! You should be able to reflash from the bootloader screen , but you must use the original rom!!

OK - stoopid question time.

1. I don't think I have a copy of the original ROM - does one lurk in the forum somewhere (it doesn't look like it is on the FTP server - at least not parts that are open to me).

2. ...and I'd find the Reflash program where? I'd hazard a guess I just download the ROM using mtty but can't help thinking that some bits need setting somewhere first :)

Connect your USB cable and run the "ATHE_WM6_x7500_flasher.rar" and you should be able to reflash your unit back to working order.

If that doesnt work, go to the FTP section of the WIKI and download the original version of the X7500 software, do the same as above instructions say to do...

You *really* should have used Step 1 for the unlocker.

only thing you can do is try a hard-reset, or flash an OS for your device

OK - 'tis done. Thanks all to making this happen - donation to the cause on its way.

The question now is (man I'm a glutton for punishment) do I stick with the cooked pre-release, unlock my supercid and flash with the 7501 image or wait till the official release....gah decisions, decisions
