Athena and LG Style-I problem

Hello!
I also bought theLG Style-I black version of it! Is it really from LG? Or just fake?
The sound doesnt seem good at all! People talk a lot about noise on conversations and it keeps unpairing and saying out of range!
Is this normal??
Please notice that I've got WM6 english ROM.

I'm using also the LG Style-I with my Ameo, but without any problems at all. Clear conversation over BT, sound is good; and okay, sometimes Style-I told me, out of range, but if I use the Style-I to phone anybody, the LG is already connected at the Ameo and is working perfect.
btw: my Ameo is running under WM5 original OS. and the Style-I is silver

Mine is silver, but I remember seeing both black and silver ones reviewed on various websites.

The style-i is available in both Black and Silver.

It will unpair with WM6 if the device has low battery ~20-30%, as bluetooth deactivates to save battery life, or atleast thats what I've noticed with the Ameo's I have.

Try forcing a re-pair, by pressing and holding CLR until "pairing..." displays, and run it through the pairing wizard in WM6, passcode is 0000.

Whata about the noise I notice some times?
I think this is not normal. Some times its OK but others its crappy!
The X7500 is never away 2 mts.

I've got the black one too but I don't have any problem.
I have to say that the sound quality is not the best one (compared with any other phone speaker) but it is fine.

I just got a black one from ebay. I has been perfect and i have had zero problems. I was able to walk away from my phone 15' into another room and still had a connection but the person on the other side said it was "scratchy". I paid about $32 and it came "oem" style with just the ac adapter and small worthless "additional information" book. The only thing that didn't work was voice command dialing when my nephew was screaming in the same room as me. The ambient noise seemed to garble the voice command i had set and the phone wouldn't recognize what i wanted it to dial.

Also black is not fake it just seems to be harder to find on ebay. I can find it other places in retail box but then its $150 or something crazy like that. Im glad i purchased the black one. I have read reviews and they have mentioned the black one also.

Also a question for all style-i users. How do you wear your style-i? I am trying wearing it clipped on my collar with a t-shirt. I don't know about my pocket because it seems like it might be easily crushed or cracked open if left in there.

Also the JetWare extensions to make it work with called Name ID works very well - well worth the $14.95....

I installed JetWare as a trial. Name ID did not come up on my style-i (I have a 7500 running WM 6 with the 7501 ROM), just the phone number. Is there a change you made to the default settings for Jetware (I believe the hands free config) for Name ID to come up? Thanks.

Paired your lg pen first
first you need to download and install jetware mobile software http://www.jetwaremobile.com/bthfx/JetBTHFExt-1.30.cab
Then copy
http://www.jetwaremobile.com/bthfx/Device/Nokia_HS-12W.jcf
to your device and execute it.
It will ask you if u want to apply setting to your lg pen, say yes.
Then go on programs folder bluetooth options, hands free config, menu advanced options tick callerid and clik done, done.
reset
And voilà it must work

While several of the bluetooth headsets with caller ID have a vibrate feature, the LG Style-I doesn't. So if call comes in, I wouldn't know unless I have the ringer on on the phone, which I can't do sometimes, such as in a meeting. So if call comes in, I probably won't know to even look at caller ID because I won't know there is a phone call. It is a downside to an otherwise nice device.

I have the same problem with a cheap Style-i (black) from eBay ($14.99). After connecting to X7501, every 35 seconds it says "Out of Range" then reconnects about 2 seconds later. Upon reconnecting, it starts up Voice Speed Dial on the Advantage.

Anybody found a solution?
(I've tried resetting both devices, un-pairing/re-pairing, both fully charged, my Motorola BT headset works fine...)

I used to get mine reconnecting all the time, so got fed up with it and use a Jabra 8010 Bluetooth Headset now, with Vibra, now theres a novelty!

Glad that people have got the Style I working with Caller ID, thats a handy feature for sure.

I followed all previous instrunctions and still not able to display the caller name on the screen of the HBM-700, only the number display.
It works fine on Tekkeon ET3000 ...

Can you pls list what features are to be checked in the "Advanced Options"

The only JetWare extension I checked (as opposed to the ones checked by default) was caller id per the instructions in post #15.

No. I left everything the way it is by default with one exception. Per post #15, I checked caller id, which was unchecked by default.

It works for me now, there is a new beta 1.31 on http://www.jetwaremobile.com (http://www.jetwaremobile.com/) which you don't even need the
nokia HS-12W hack anymore ....

Send a mail to support@jetwaremobile.com, they will reply with a link to download the 1.31 beta + registration_key for 30 days full working software.

The volume control operates both the in-call volume and the ringer sound. If it's set to loud, both are loud, set to quiet, both quiet, can't have them at different levels...

I've just got mine, one of the bad ones :(
I can be within 18" and it says out of range, at first I tyhought it might be ineterference but it seems to happen everywhere I've been so far - if it does it when I get back to the office next week I'll have to ditch it.

I've been playing with the ROMS on my Ameo now to see if I can figure owt any links. I've found that if I have a WM6 ROM the device constantly loses connection with the Style-I and reports "OUT OF RANGE" or "NO DEVICE FOUND" when they are next to each other, and BT is definately on.

I currently have T-Mobiles latest WM5.1 ROM, and can report that since installing it over a week ago, I've not lost connection once, it's connected instantly and remained connected until turned off... shame as I really liked the PK ROMs, but until this issue is sorted, cannot use them :-(

Anyone else notice this???

I've updated my Ameo almost 3 weeks ago with german t-mobile WM6.
With WM5 the ameo works fine with my i-Style; also with the new WM6.

I got that one and I'm using it for a month now without problems.

The power is a regular mini USB connector. The only problem is that due to the design of the Style-i some mini USB plugs are not long enough to made the connection. Buy the cables I got for my HTC X7500 works perfect.

I power the Style-i in three ways: 1) Using the power adaptor coming with the Style-i or the one coming with my X7500. 2) Using the car adapter I got from HTC. 3) Pluging the Style-i yo a USB port of the PC with the HTC X7500 cable.

The three ways works. When you connect the Style-i to the PC the XP said... no driver... but keep on charging the machine so... no problem.

It does not come with any software and the plug to charge it is mini-usb. You can use any available plug you have. It will probably come with US mains since it is Verizon Branded. (I have 2 of these and 2 of the Black LG branded- No difference)

Jetware is a 3rd party BT extension that you should not need to use this with your Athena, just if you have in-car NAV or other such devices that need extended profiles.

SOrry for hidjacking the thread but i got mine, silver - verizon branded, yesterday and i was wondering if any1 considered interfacing it with btwatch program to get notifications on he lcd screen for incoming messages sms and emails. i have tried to use btwatch with it and apparently it regognizes the style-i unit but cannot connect( freezes)

Well I received my Verizon branded silver Style from ebay yesterday and it is working. I installed the jetware 1.30 and the nokia extension and I have caller ID.

The only problem I have is that every time the Style connects, it opens up my voice dialing on my Advantage. Someone else mentioned this. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Otherwise, it is worth the $24 (total) I paid.

Mine is the silver one and I had the "problem" of voice dialing being open each time the Style-i connect to the X7500 (once a day in my case since I switch off the Style-i in the night).

I love this gadget.

Yes, I do - when I turn on my Style-I it just connects. Ameo wakes up, but no voice dial.

I just get the "device out of range" error !!

I've been using a style-i now for quite a while with good results. However, as far as the voice dialer is concerned, there's a registry hack that disables it. I don't remember what it is. HOwever, I know I found it on this forum. Do a search.
One other thing, I have 3 style-i. The first one I got was off ebay and it was defective. It manifested the defect by constantly connecting and disconnecting from the advantage. every time it did that, it activated the voice command.
I got the other style-i off amazon, which wasn't cheap BUT THEY WORK. After all the hassle I went through, I was willing to pay for something that worked.
