I will try that. I ran pocknes on a MDA, and it was slow at best. Don't the dash and MDS have essentially the same processor? How do the games play for you?

Games which work great and which I love are:

Astraware Solitaire
Pocket Minigolf 2 (highly recommended)
High Seas (like sid meier's pirates, extremely addictive, highly recommended)
ChessGenius
All-In-Holdem poker

You can get the snes9x the pocketnesterplus and the picodrive over at modaco.

The rest (if you want to buy) just google search them and you will find it,
otherwise if you want the (cough, cough) free versions you can go to www.pda4x.com and register to the site. The site is split chinese and english and can be somewhat challenging to register sinces the registration is all chinese but after that it's pretty easy to navigate

For PocketSnes, after I load a rom, the game works. The File and Option Menu at the bottom of screen disappears. Which key do you press to bring them back so i can exit properly?

P.S. Nevermind, I've figured it out.

First, I flashed my Dash with the Kavana ROM and it's killer, man, it's perfect. You guys are geniuses. Which is why I'm posting this question here.

I know the DOOM things has been done to death all over the internet and I've searched high and low for a suitable answer, so I'll pop it to you folks:

I've loaded up every flavor of Doom out there on my Dash. The best one so far is DoomCE (original version). And it's darn near perfect. It's fast, I can exit, get the menu, and all of the keys work. Except for one: the FIRE button! And what good is DOOM if you can't fricking KILL anything!

As far as I can tell, the FIRE button is supposed to map to the * key, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get it to work, or better yet, remap the FIRE button to the action button?

Thanks in advance for any advice about this.

If you mean have I installed HKBoySiR's Tegic eT9 keymap, yes. Did that first thing after I flashed the ROM and it works for everything else just fine.

I have a keymap application that tells me what the key codes are, but so far I haven't found a way to apply that to DoomCE.

If you hold the Alt key and hit the * does it work?

If it's a matter of changing a mapping in DoomCE, that's more the domain of the creator of DoomCE...

darkfire62
21st June 2008, 02:38 PM
Alt-* doesn't work. But I've dropped DoomCE altogether. I finally figured out how to get CellDoom to install and run, and that program maps the FIRE button correctly.

First, a little prep on your Dash:

1. Connect your Dash to your computer and make sure the ActiveSync program is running.

2. Click the Explore button. The Dash directory window pops up.

3. Open "Mobile Device" or "My Windows Mobile-Based Device".

4. Right-click and select "New Folder". Name the folder "Storage".

5. Open the "Storage" folder. Create two new folders, "Program Files" and "Windows".

6. Open the "Windows" folder. Create a new folder, "Start Menu".

Okay, that's done. Then download the CellDoom Installer.zip attached to this post, and get the Doom1.wad from here (http://blastmagazine.com/2008/04/download-doom1wad/). Unzip the CellDoom folder and follow the installer directions. Afterwards, place the Doom1.wad file in the "Program Files" directory you created above. (You'll know it's the right one if you see "CellDoom.exe" in there all alone.)

The installer puts a shortcut in the "Start Menu" folder you created above. You can copy that to the real Start Menu folder so that CellDoom is more convenient to run.

Reboot your Dash and you're all set!

Okay, a couple of things about CellDoom:

First, the screen is smaller than your Dash's display. Whatever I've tried to extend it to the full window has scrambled the screen, so anybody's advice on that would be appreciated. But if you press the green SEND key, the screen goes into landscape mode, which both enlarges and brightens the screen. Continually pressing SEND switches landscape from left to right.

I can't find a Gamma key, so it's dark (at least to me).

OK fires, the D-pad moves you about, the back key is the menu, the A key gives you a map. The 0/TAB key opens doors (thought it would be the SPACE key, but hey). But the REAL kicker is that the 9 key puts you into GOD mode! But be careful, because you can't get out once you're in it (at least not as far as I can tell.)

The gamma key is the the end key!

Hi, I had been trying to figure out how to get the previous months DLC and now that I know I thought I would share it with all of you, sorry to any of you who may have thought that I would be posting the link for downloading a cracked copy of the game but I dont want to risk my post being taken off the site due to copyright infringement.

If you havent yet downloaded / installed it yet to your device this is real simple - all you have to do is set the date of your device to anywhere before 29th of December 2007, do a soft reset and then install the game. Now when you update your song list the game thinks that you have had the game since January and you are able to download all the Bonus songs from January onwards.

if you HAVE already installed the game like I did. First you would want to copy the directory from your source (eg. your SD card) and place it somewhere safe. Then you need to change the date to anytime before the 29th of December 2007 and then uninstall the game. After you uninstall the game it automatically does a soft reset so it save you a job their. Now reintsall the game and perform an update and you will have all the bonus tracks... now heres the important bit. Since the game uses your phones details to make the games content ONLY available to your phone it still means that your original save file and any songs you may have already downloaded will still work with the fresh install so at least you dont have redownload any of the songs you have or have to go through the pain of working through the game to unlock everything again.

Hope this helps anybody who is into this game

The complete list of Songs available so far are -

Main setlist

1. Opening Licks
"Black Magic Woman" – Santana
"Woman" – Wolfmother
"Miss Murder" – AFI
"Suck My Kiss" – Red Hot Chili Peppers
"School's Out" – Alice Cooper (Encore)

2. Amp Warmers
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" – Pat Benatar
"You Really Got Me" – Van Halen
"Strutter" – Kiss
"Cherub Rock" – The Smashing Pumpkins
"Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart" – Stone Temple Pilots (Encore)

3. String Snappers
"Monsters" – Matchbook Romance
"Shout at the Devil" – Mφtley Crόe
"Paranoid" – Black Sabbath
"Jessica" – The Allman Brothers Band
"Rock You Like A Hurricane" – The Scorpions (Encore)

Monthly download packs

Bonus Set 1 (January 2008)
"Mother" – Danzig
"Barracuda" – Heart
"The Seeker" – The Who

Bonus Set 2 (February 2008)
"Life Wasted" – Pearl Jam
"She Bangs the Drums" – The Stone Roses
"Pride and Joy" – Stevie Ray Vaughan

Bonus Set 3 (March 2008)
"War Pigs" – Black Sabbath
"Search and Destroy" – Iggy Pop and the Stooges
"Free Bird" – Lynyrd Skynyrd

Bonus Set 4 (April 2008)
"Crazy on You" – Heart
"Laid to Rest" – Lamb of God
"Metal Heavy Lady" – Lions

Bonus Set 5 (May 2008)
"Slow Ride" – Foghat
"Black Sunshine" – White Zombie
"Mississippi Queen" – Mountain

Bonus Set 6 (June 2008)
"Stricken" by Disturbed
"Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison
"Rock and Roll All Nite" by Kiss

Also the game says, to save space it only keeps two songs on your phone at a time to save space... but ive found that when you first play the game when only four songs are unlocked copy the two songs from your folder to somewhere else to back them up.Then download the other two songs, which will replace the two original... then if you copy the other two tracks back in so you now have four. When you download any more songs they add to rather than replace the songs you have stored. The songs themselves are DRM protected to your phone. Otherwise I would post them all. The website claims that there will be 51 songs available once they are all released and although they are not massive sized files I would reccomend that you install this game to your SD card rather than the phone itself.

Someone had mentioned running doom on the dash, but only getting it to run in small screen. Here is an alternative I have been using and it runs fairly well and much larger screen. It works for Doom, TNT, and supposedly ultimate. Here is the link:

Just wanted to share this really quick with the community here. I modified the configuration file for this game to work properly with our Dashes. This is the Duke Nukem 3D game, ported to the WM platform by some great guy! I uploaded it to sendspace for everybody to enjoy. Keep in mind that the original developer of this game doesn't care about distributing this game anymore, since they publicly released the source code for it, which make this port possible.

How well does Duke play on the Dash and how big is the install?

I used to play the heck out of Duke and even played on a network during lunch at work back in the mid 90's. Good times.

Plays fairly well, but it will eat up about 64 MB of storage.

I'm not sure if I installed it wrong or what but for some reason I cannot access a menu after the game starts. I can play no problems...it starts like a normal game but once you start playing there is no way for me to hit pause, stop, or exit. I have to hold down the power button. (U get sound and everything fine hmm)

Anyone else have a similar issue.

If you guys get a chance get a game called prey 3d. It follows the style of doom and quake and is full screen, works on excalibur. Only downside is you have to save to main memory and is around 9mb's but its worth it! Another fun game i found is called high seas, fun little pirate game. pm me for more info.
