I have a CID unlocked XDA Orbit, and was looking at the T-Mobile Web'n'Walk contract packages.

I have spoken to T-Mobile, who assure me the Web'n'Walk contract will ONLY work with certain (ie their own) T-Mobile Web'n'Walk compatable handsets.

They have stated this is because to the the Web'n'Walk connection can only be made using the Web'n'Walk application (included with compatable handsets) and is the only way to connect, and that manual settings for this particular package are not available.

But as my phone is unlocked, would flashing with a T-Mobile ROM (from the MDA compact for example) fix this problem? Come to think of it, would installing the Web'n'Walk application (from a T-Mobile extended rom) work?

Has anyone tried this? How was it done? Or is T-Mobile simply talking out of their hat!

Also, what do you guys (and gals) think of the Web'n'Walk service, is it any cop?

T-Mobile know nothing.
There is no T-Mobile application. There wasn't one on my MDA Compact III when I bought it from them, and there certainly isn't now I'm using Tupisdin's WM6 3.5 ROM. The device uses the standard Pocket Internet Explorer, or will happily run Opera Mobile.

You don't need to flash a ROM, the O2 one will work fine with the right settings, but a WM6 ROM is better, if you are happy to flash it anyway.

Web and Walk is great, all you can eat data and no hunting for WiFi hotspots, I just wish the Artemis was 3g. Roll on the Polaris.

Oh and the Manual settings that "Aren't available" are on their website, you just enter a valid T-Mobile phone number and look for setting up MMS manually, it will take you to a page that lists the GPRS and MMS settings.

(Edit: Back off T-Mobile or I shall taunt you some more)

I can confirm this as well.

I'm using a Orbit on the Flex 20 with Web N Walk. If your looking to save then T-Mobile to a Sim Only deal for £7.50 a month and unlimited data for another £7.

Personally I'm about to switch to O2 then back to T-Mobile after a couple of months to take advantage of the deal.
