There is no RUU.

But it is for unlocked Heralds with OLD Radiorom. You ahve to upgrade to this first. And then to WM6 to avoid "datacrash"

Sorry I can not help you with the contact issue but would just like to point out that the media plugin seems to work better with HTC's audio manager.

The ROM seems to run faster then WM5 did; this is my first WM6 ROM so I can't compare it to others.

I'm more interested in the OS features more than the programs (e.g the update of ASerg has some bugs related to the keyboard being always in Russian, some dialogs in german, etc., but otherwise works fine, so far)!

Oke so i'm testing this as we speak, below my findings and thoughts so far.

What i have :

HTC 4350 (Straight from the vendor...no provider attached)
Dutch WM5 (no sim lock, yes cid-lock (i think))

What i did :

Downloaded the PDAVIET file
Copied Aserg policy to mobile
Runned policy file
Left the phone on and connected.
Started !updaterom.bat file
ignored the error message on my phone (Said something like : Unknown error blabla) Pressed OK to close that message.
Then the file got copied, after 6 minutes it was finished (depends on the speed of your USB of course and SD card)
Made directly a hard-reset (while the phone was still on and had WM5 in the screen, NOT WM6)
Then reboot and it worked.

What i think of it :

It looks really good, especially with the Touch file in it (clock, apps opener and such)
It's not very fast (but about the same as WM5), but we can blame that on the OMAP processor.

What i miss :

Windows Live Messenger ?? I had MSN Messenger on WM5 but on WM6 there is no messenger at all ?
The Keyboard is not completely as the way it should be , symbols like ( and { are different, but still useable by clicking Blue + Sym and then select the correct symbol)


Will add more if i find more things on it.

It's a shame that this WM6 ROM really decreases the overal performance of the Herald. That's why I now switched back to WM5.

Even when overclocked, the screenswitching takes too long.
With WM5 overclocked this is instant.

Have to agree the HTC Home plugin is awesome

Radio ROM on my dopod C800 is 02.69. I wonder weather it will work with this ROM or not. It seems that I must do a cid unlock in order to perform a radio rom upgrade?

Jeps, I ran into the same trouble and got it finaly working.
You have to make sure that the RUU-Rom matches the language of your installed rom. Various versions can be found here:

This will also take you back to WM5 but with updated RUU. Now you should install the PDAVIET-rom without any trouble.

i have the Vodafone VPA Compact IV (but it was deliverd with the original P4350 Box, when i turn on my herald it gives the vodafone logo. my original rom was in dutch, is there any way i can solve this problem (CID Unlock? update radio rom?) if so, please give a detaild description of the steps i should follow!

Having a little problem(or maybe a big problem, just glad it still functional) with this rom. I read this somewhere else on the site but can't seem to find the thread again. I have been running this rom for a few days now and just encountered this issue. Apart from the rom itself I have only installed the KaiserHomeplug ( same one located in Herald .cab files thread.) The problem started when I unhid the extROM and tried to install some files in there.

Now the problem I am having is that the phone keeps soft resetting itself after booting up. It makes it past the HTC splash to the WM6/PDAViet screen, then soft resets again. Sometimes it goes on forever, other times it does it 3 times and boots up. Driving me mad. After a hard reset it can boot up fine, but after one night it'll revert back to its insane ways.

If PIM backup wasnt included in this rom I'd be backed into a corner, but it is so I guess I got time for some suggestions????????

Like I mentioned somewhere befor - messing up with the extended rom isn´t such a good idea. On wizard forum they often discussed problems which appeared after playing with the extended_rom. It causes ram problems, bootupproblems......


Try to flash the original RUU to get back to a clean and original extended_rom and start flashing WM6 again.

I would say it doesn't matter, but i would use 5.8.405, it will allow you to flash successfully.

I have radio version 2.79.90, make sure you update that first...i read a lot that with older version you phone will turn into a brick...how to do that, i have no idea...I just bought the phone like this.

I haven't found any way to CID-Unlock herald, yet, except for the one you have to pay for. But I have no experiences with unlocks, so I can't tell anything about it and if its going to work in the aftermath.

I think, to get things working, you need a new _dutch_ RUU. You should either get it from your local Serviceprovider, from HTC or somewhere on the web. The Filename you gotta look for should look like something like this:
RUU_HERALD_HTC_NL_xyz.xyz.xyz.exe

I copied the aserg policies cab file and tried running the upgrade on my tmobile wing but when i do that, a lil window pops up saying error - unknown status. Basically the upgrade didn't work. Any ideas?

Because of:

- unbricking devices
- cooking clean, stable, rom without MS crap
- including stuff from other devices (like Touch.....)
- testing, tweaking

= without the problems to brick their phones without any chance to unbrick.

Have you read my post, i had the same thing...i left my PDA on and got that error...i just ignored it and waited for 5/10 minutes then the Command Prompt said it was ready/succesfully and i then hard resetted my phone...works like a charm (HTC , no provider)

If the change of the locale string doesn't work, you got the value wrong. I changed mine to nordic layout using 0414. 0409 is english, I have no clue what russian is.

I have the same errors as you had ("DATA CRASHES. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SERVICE CENTER."). Indeed currently I also am on Radio version 02.71.90, which seems to be erroneous in combination with WM6.

However when I tried to put "RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Sh ip", the upgrade process starts, but after 2% I run into error [328]: "Invalid command".

When I step back to "RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_1.8.405.1_02.71.90_Ship", this works fine...

I got both WWE-ROM-files from the WIKI pages, so it has to be WWE, and unlocked. My 4350 is original HTC branded.

you or anyone else a clue how I can get my radio-version up to 02.79.90?

Got this through T-Mobile. I cid-unlock using imei-check (very quick thank you) and then trying running and encounters same error every time.

"the system cannot execute the specific program. (sayns about 7 times)
"writing the new AKU OS ROM. they system cannot execute"
error:unable to open file OS.nb-the system cannot find the file
CopyfiletoTFFS(OS.nb:0, 0, 00000000)
Error: Unable to open host/destination file, etc

Then it will say congrats if you have no errors please reboot your phone. I reboot back to the original RUU. I have been reading for 2 weeks before posting and this is as far as i get each time. As you can see by my sig i think I have all the latest updates since i just got this. It is running Mobile 6 :confused:

Also tried updating RUU using ROM update for Herald on wiki and says invalid id error and roboots wing ends program.

EDIT1: Ok, tried again and now it worked :D

EDIT2: During the upgrade it gave an error, ITWriteDisk something... what does that means? My device got bricked, but I got unbricked with one of the RRU's available at wiki.

If I select one of the 3 cities that came originally in the HTC Home plugin I have no problem and it retrieves the weather, but it's about 100km away from where I live :(

I've finally gotten my device CID Unlocked through imei-check. I'm going to test an earlier version of this and then i'll try this one after it finishes downloading!
I can't wait to start cooking and testing out roms again!

looks like papamopps was wrong about CID Unlocking the wing. I successfully flashed 4.12.07.02 onto my device! Can't wait to test some more out. Only error message I got when flashing was that some sound file wouldn't play. Everything loaded up and I didn't even get ITWriteDisk error!

I never said you cannot flash any WM6 rom by Aserg´s Method.

BUT WHEN it brickes while flashing - you have NO (really NO) RUU to unbrick. I tried everything.

Flashing with Aserg - doesn´t need to be CID unlock. BUT flashing a Herald RUU Rom.

For it was like this. I got vedor-id error even it was unlcoked AND i had a german herlad ruu rom.

hi, i dont know why but when i want to download WM 6 via "PV ROM Download Center.exe" , it tells me this:

I am totally new baby in Windows mobile world. I have brought P4350 few days ago and of course I want to upgrade it to win mobile 6.0. This is clean device from shop not mobile provider.
I have read all instruction on forum but I have few questions. First of all this is current version of ROM on my device
Rom version is 5.4.405.1 WWE
Radio 02.79.90
Protocol 4.1.13.34
ExtRom: 5.4.405.101

If I have understood correctly in my device is Standard word wide English version. If something went wrong I can repair device using RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Sh ip.exe. Can somebody explain or post link how to do that for any case.
I want to upgrade device using
PDAVIET ROM WM6.0 v4.12.07.05
or
PDAVIET ROM WM6.0 v4.12.07.03
To do that I will need to download that rom , but I am getting this message all time.

i have PDAVIET ROM WM6.0 v4.12.07.07 and PDAVIET ROM WM6.0 v4.12.07.08 in my PC, (not PPC) and im using PDAVIET ROM WM6.0 v4.12.07.08 , so if you want, i can send you one, or both:) and if your parameters is same, as you posted, you will get never bricked PDA (for long time) , because with any wrong you can use RUU to restore it.. dont worry and follows all reedmes:) any question?:rolleyes:

While I am waiting to some one upload rom I have one question. How devices which don’t have radio 2.79.90 become bricked. And if I have device with radio 2.79.90 change rom to WM6 will I be able to downgrade device with RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Sh ip.exe. if It is possible why devices with different radio can’t be fixed with this RUU????
