Strange Boot up Message on 7501

Afternoon All,

I just picked up a 7501 at CompUSA, and noticed a strange message after a soft reset on the boot loader screen: "For Test Only. Not For Resale." Anybody ever seen this? Any ideas? Anything that I should look for in the unit to see if it differs from a "production" model?

Everything seems to work, and to be the stock WM6 ROM (17745.0.2.3). Going to find my copy of mtty and see what sort of data I can pull out of the boot loader.

Same message happens on my 7501 here. Also aquired from Comp USA one week ago. I did an extensive search and found nothing about why this specific message is displayed. Maybe someone "more in the know" can let us know.

See if Midget can help you with this. This may be of interest to us if you have something not yet released or something that got out by mistake.

seems you have a pre-production bootloader. a similar thing happened with the universals.

Is there a similar link to the shipped ROM for the x7500? This would make me feel more confident in flashing to WM6... g.
**EDIT** Before I get flamed, I just thought about looking in the FTP site, which I found by going to the wiki. I assume this is the latest??

**EDIT** Yes, the ROM and Radio numbers match when I look in device info. I should delete this, but maybe someone else has a similar question.

same thing here except i ordered mine 7501x from Amazon. I downloaded the ROM update from HTC america before i got the unit, but i updated it without a hitch and now that message went away, however i seem to have lost the Opera browser as one of my programs...anyone confirm that?

I switched mine to the new ROM as the one with the not for resale is pretty buggy, and I still have Opera.
