Alpha2: all changes in the registry resets to default after soft reset (off-on)! Very important to solve this problem in the next release!

hi Guys

well done on the hard work.

however when i try run the update the update program crashes, Ive tried vista / and xp , even tried the origonal rom from orange for the c600. phone seems to be working fine although i have previously managed to update teh CID but no done anything. ive also performed a hard reset to be safe.

In summary the update program reads the firmware and gos to extract th rom , while the phone is in bootloader mode, then program coes up with standard windws erro and closes

i realise it may not be related to the wm6 rom - but any help appreciated

can you tell us the changes that should be confiqured to work?
Because i copy/paste these files an imported the registry path but comm manager refuses to open up

i am a happy camper with rom installed everything i needed except mms still have 7MB to spare. And my video streaming streaming is working like charm. Tried to upload the file here but i dont know how because you need extra dll to get it working.

Ayone know which font except tahoma works with arabics and how to how to get voice command trigger through the record button.

Post of appreciation.

Overall performance and responsiveness seems snappier and more stable in my expereince with my device (US T-Mobile SDA). Haven't necessarily noticed any changes in battery life plus/minus as posted by some members so I can't vouche for that...but I usually drain my battery pretty quick anyway. Take care.

Someone asked if it works on Faraday, yes it works. Faraday, Tempo are all Tornados. So it works on SPV C600, etc.

However After flashing the new firmware and installing the Sp5M button fix the play/skip and prev button still dont work. I have an TMobile SDA and it only launches the media player. Well, Flight Mode was accesible from Quick List (short press on power button), but this ROM does not have that hardware button mapped.
However you can turn off phone function from Commanager or Start > Settings > Connections > Wireless Manager.

ive got a c600, ive managed to unlock and CID my c600 but cant connect using term pro - even though usb disabled /activesynch.

running a legit orange update or the alpha ends with the update program causing a windows fault and program failing

Did You try to pair bluetooth headset with the phone? Because mine is don't want to connet with my SE HBH-60 headset. The phone sees the HBH, but says the passcode is incorrect (but it's not...). Is this the problem of the ROM, or a problem of mine?

I m lil bit confused.

The second time i tried it worked without rebooting.
After a reboot it stopped.
And no matter what i do i cant make it run.
It just like the comm manager.exe its not ok

I copied all the files except the .regs at windows root.
Then i imported the .regs with resco registry editor.

Hi,
I managed to install WM6 to my SP5. Thanks alot for all your effort. I thing WM6 is working great. Some of the things I found out to be buggy :
1. GPRS seems to drop sometimes. I have activesync with push mail. Sometimes I see that it is not working. My manual sync attempts fail also. Switching Flight mode on and off fixes usually.
2. Sım manager in contacts is a great tool but it fails to write to sim in copy all contact to sim.
3. HTM mail support works for hotmail (MS Live) mails but do not work for outlook (Exchange) mails.
4. Keys or response to key presses sometimes slows down.

Apart from these everything seems to be great.

i have been checking the files out on the vox rom and have been trying to compare them to the tornado wm6 rom and alot of the files on the vox rom are newer but there might be compatibility problems, you would need someway of checking the calls of the dll's and exe's and making sure the drivers are comptible and would most likely have to cook a good deal of rom revisions before you had one that would work perfectly

on a side note thou, i have a program that optimizes dll's and exe's for wm roms and looks like it could shave off about 10 megs off the used space, while leaving the files useable, they would just need to be cooked into it and well i havent got that far yet...

But today after a restart I saw that my Storage Card was renamed to "Storage Card2" and a folder created with "Storage Card" in the main memory. I once had this problem in WM5 but that was due to WM5torage and never had the same problem again. I managed to fix it by changing registry back to defaults and "Storage Card" frolder to "Storage Card.bak" and a reboot, but now even though everything is normal, whenever I apply the Cache patch and the Inbox Patch my Card renames again to "Storage Card2".
Can anyone help ????

what i did using explorer i renamed the Storage Card to Storage Card3 and reset. when it was bck to normal i just delete the Storage Card3.

I guess it was done the same way as described here (http://ronswens.technoboard.ws/langpacks.html), only the files were taken from wm6 emulator image and the registry entries are different.
Unfortunatelly this is not a complete localization, these are only dumped all MUI, HTM, CSS and WAV files. Some stuff will be not translated as it is stored in mxipupdate_metabaselang_04XX_001.provxml file.

Anybody know how to make use of this file for full localization without cooking a new ROM? We could start a new thread about localization.

Partial polish localization

This is (http://dcpp.one.pl/wm6/WM6StandardPolishLangpack-v0.1.cab) partial polish localization. Everything is taken from WM6 emulator images. Unfortunately I don't know how to make use of metabase database without ROM cooking, so some stuff (filenames, entries in control panel) is not translated.
I had to sign it with test certificate, untouched file versions are avaliable here (http://dcpp.one.pl/wm6/PolishWM6Files.rar).

Note if it doesn't work for you, change language to English, restart phone and then change it back to polish.

Not sure what's involved in the update process programmatically, but if it's all the same, I'd like to see any fixes or updates to the alpha versions released as CABs in addition to the actual ROM itself. I'm pretty satisfied with the current ROM and have gotten all my apps reinstalled and setup just the way I like....so to be able to just CAB-in the updates (like MMS capabilitiy) would save me alot of reflashing and re-setting up....and possibly losing my girlfriend for spending to much time "screwing with that damned phone." =) If CABs in addition to the ROM releases is too much work, totally disregard! Thanks.

Before the two resets I had only changed two things.
1. I started using MS Live
2. I installed VOIP pack for WM6.

I do suspect MS Live as it is also something related with messaging but VOIP may cause as well. Tomorrow I will do a hard reset and install the applications again. For the time being I'm storing them on memory :mad:

Many many thanks for the ROM - brought a whole new lease of life to my C600.
I am considering going back to it from my Hermes, which I have always found a bit big. At least until the HTC 730 is out.

Anyway - a problem.

Seems that if I have a GPRS connection (which I always have - using Exchange Email Push), I cannot accept any calls or indeed txts.

Now, I know this was orginally an issue with some Radio versions, but not sure how it has crept in here?

Anyone any ideas?

Hi,
I managed to install WM6 to my SP5. Thanks alot for all your effort. I thing WM6 is working great. Some of the things I found out to be buggy :
1. GPRS seems to drop sometimes. I have activesync with push mail. Sometimes I see that it is not working. My manual sync attempts fail also. Switching Flight mode on and off fixes usually.
2. Sım manager in contacts is a great tool but it fails to write to sim in copy all contact to sim.
3. HTM mail support works for hotmail (MS Live) mails but do not work for outlook (Exchange) mails.
4. Keys or response to key presses sometimes slows down.

Apart from these everything seems to be great.

Sometimes when starting up my mobile phone, it displays: "WiFi: Unavailable", when I even did not activate WiFi (WiFi isn't activated at all, checked up in the comm manager). This happens sometimes, exspeccialy when I did NOT connect whit WiFi before restarting the phone.

I just made the cab with cab manager. All te files seem to look okay. The registry keys look okay. The phone still looks to be English instead of Dutch though. :/

First of all thank you for your effort guys. You are truly great!

I would like to ask you for including two functionalities which I saw in Qtek 8310 ROMs (just in case, I uploaded the latest one here: http://mihd.net/hlvq8y ). The Qtek ROMs identify the network accordingly to the network you are. I will explain what I mean. I am Polish and the networks here have their own peculiarities :rolleyes: There are some telecoms which have two separate brands here (Polkomtel and PTC, more about it here: http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/poland.html). They share a part of infrastructure. I use, for example, "sami swoi" (a niche prepaid network), a brand of Polkomtel which also runs "Plus". The thing is that all the ROMS (incl. WM6) identify my phone as logged in the network of Plus. The only one is Qtek 8310, which does it properly. Even more - I thought that the ROM contains a better database of operators, but not. It must be something more sophisticated because the ROM is from August2006 and identifies properly mBank Mobile MVNO which started to work in January 2007 or so. Even the webpage of mBank Mobile (www.mobile.pl) claims that the network should be identified as Plus, but nonetheless, I can see mBank Mobile on the display The ROM must detect the network somehow. How? I do not know :(
The other thing is also interesting - when you are in the range of EDGE networks the Qtek ROMs change the character from "G" (like GPRS) to "E" (like EDGE). Really cool thing worth implementing :)

I was farting around with windows media player after, like a few others, I noticed that the track advance/previous buttons did not work on my SP5m. In options, I went to "buttons" and simply reassigned them to the appropriate button. Now, forward and reverse works perfect. So, I don't think it's necessarily a bug. Just my two cents. That's how you fix it though....give it a shot.

NOTE: It will recognize your key press of track forward and reverse as ansi char set it looks like...doesn't matter, still worked.

Ok, so it's working great on my Cingular 2125. The only problem I have is that after doing the Vista RUU guide and updating the driver so I could upgrade the phone, it won't connect to my PC anymore. It connected fine to my laptop which never had a connection before but my PC says "USB device not recognized" I've tried rebooting, different ports. I don't know how to revert the driver since it's not even showing up in Device Manager.

I Also faced similar bug. Wifi was not activated at all but I saw "Wifi : Unavailable". The Wifi symbol was on the top bar also with no activity status. I had to turn on the Wifi and then turn off.

ive been trying to get the camera and video apps from the vox rom i have and am having problems (there seems to be a couple hunderd reg keys!) and would appreciate the help. if anyone is intrested i can provide all files and the full registry of the vox rom.

also would you consider the iphone roms camera software a better choice?

everything is almost all good now. all i need is the Short_AP2, Short_AP3, and Short_AP4 shortcuts from the windows folder. the ones that work as media controls for windows media player. or just how to edit this in the registry. Ive already made Short_AP1 as my task manager =)

I have install this rom and i use my phone every day, i don't use mms and this rom is very good ihaven't any problems with.You can upgrade, but it's a personnal choice to make.

Yes I do face some problems with the ROM, but apart from the bugs (Which I hope that they will be fixed, and also couldn't find out without trying) running WM6 on Tornado is so nice that I never want to install WM5 again. So I think it is definitely worth a try. If you face to many problems or do not like WM6, you can always go back to WM5.

THX imfloflo for your answer, well, actually i use my phone in the same way as you do, i never send MMS, only normal calling, the Internet before i go to bed (therewith my girlfriend is not so angry, she doesn't like louder devices in the room :D) and the WLMessenger on the job.

Loving this ROM guys, keep up the good work.

One question I have is about the Adobe Reader that was posted. What is the stance legally on this? I ask because I'd like to install it on the C600's at work which have been flashed with this ROM (for testing purposes of course). This ROM cures a lot of the problems with the C600 and makes it very stable and to have the Adobe Reader app would make the phone almost complete.

heres the pluggin from newchurch and darkfinger with slight modification from me. i only changed the enabled homescreen to keep standard wm6 colours from this release.

just install and then find in startmenu wmpplugin-switch and click show.

It DOES have Flight Mode, it's just not in the quick menu. I am experimenting with Autoflight to try to get it to work. I have got to a point where I can get it to switch in and out of flight mode but not much else.

You just have to chose "wireless manager" in the quick menu and then you can turn on airplane mode from there.

You can also create a shortcut to "\Windows\wrlsmgr.exe", name it "SHORT_POC.lnk" and put it into the windows folder.
This way, if you press the side button, the windows comm manager will open (that IMHO is WAY BETTER than the htc comm manager!)

Meanwhile I have played with AutoFlight 5.2.3 – there is not problem to call different profile e.g. Silent, substituting Flight Mode for me.

You can play with WinCE CAB Manager: It has the option to change the presetted supported mobile devices and operating systems.

First of all, great work on this ROM, makes me appreciate more my device

I read throughout all the postings to find a solution. I installed TomTom 6 v 6.010 (and had it running fine) on my original Tornado (SPV C600 running WM5) using the method described in earlier posts (copy the files manually to the device) I was able to plan routes. No issues here. However, after installing the WM6 rom (and following the same process to install TomTom) the following happens:

- TomTom starts with the black splash screen/red hands
- I get the green warning page where you need to click "Agree" and immediately, the program quits (no time to press the Agree button) and a message pops: "Your device is incompatible with TomTom NAVIGATOR"

I noticed that on the debug log of TomTom, COM4 was used on WM5 until I switched to the WM6 where now COM 8 tries to open

I search other threads, as well as Goggle and found a post stating 6.020 was working. Install that as well. Same results.

Anyone succeeded with TomTom and this new ROM?

That is the radio that already comes with the ROM... Anyone knows a better one? I'm having all sorts of problems with my radio. I only receive sms a lot later than they were sent (hours). And I always have some mute time at the start of every call. Is this happening to anyone? Im in Portugal.

yes i was right. i just made coolcamera work when i press the camera button and the htc camera button work when i hold the camera. strange thing is when hold down for hte htc camera coolcamera comes up for a second and then exits itself, but then im using the htc camera.

There is no Dialup networking profile in wm6 roms. it has been replaced by "Internet sharing" that is works with PAN profile (Personal Area Network).
Allthough if you still need the DUN profile you can install this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315505&highlight=dialup+networking) file. works perfect...!!

I see, I also use my tornado as a modem with my wizard!!:)
I've just installed the cab in my tornado and then refresh the services in the wizard. checked the DUN profile and made the new connection. I don't know why you can't make it work..:(

if you go to bluetooth devices and select the device then go to "menu" you can assign a com port

I flashed my spare Tornado device (T-Mobile SDA (US)) last night and used it most of the day today. For the most part, I've only had problems when surfing the web for 30 minutes straight. The data connection would basically stop responding; if I placed a call then tried the data connection again, it would work again.

Also, once the device stopped responding to any keys for about a minute. I didn't pair it up with my Jawbone Bluetooth headset yet, and haven't checked A2DP.

I did notice that Internet Explorer Mobile seems to identify the device as a Samsung i730; I guess we know the donor device.

Can confirm that Camera4 in Alexx post is the problem with the dialing and receiving call error. Have reproduced the error twice with only it installed.

Just installed this; seems to work good on the GPRS/EDGE connection. But with WiFi enabled, it reports "Failed to find network."
