Had the same problem. It is one of the extra programs loaded, not sure which. I did a hard reset and am now reloading one at a time to find it so far I think I have narrowed it to either the Acrobat or Camera4.

Can confirm that Camera4 in Alexx post is the problem with the dialing and receiving call error. Have reproduced the error twice with only it installed.

Please note I am a novice in all this and applaud everyones hard work. Thank you.

Not that I have found. It locks in the remove process. Or at least that has been my experience.

yep thats exactly what im talkin about. but it doesnt appear to lock. the little windows loading thing still stays moving in the middle of the screen but it doesnt ever finish. same with the computer, it just hangs. I may have to do another soft reset.

camera build 4.00 isnt important to me, cuz i still have CoolCamera.

hm this sure is strange. when i use tcpmp, it doesnt seem to recognize .wmv's. it says its missing the wmv audio codec and video codec.

For your voice prbs while using data, why don't you put a newer radio stack first ?

Yeah, have tried that (although I didnt actually check what radio version I already had, I suspect the same...).

After much playing around with registry settings and much surfing, I think its down to the Operator - Orange. I have put T-Mobile PAYG SIM in, with correct settings, and things are better, but if the phone is downloading data it seems the call goes to VM still. Not as much as on Orange tho.

Anyone else here on Orange UK/T-Mob UK ?

Its certainly highlighted the fact that GPRS is not ideal for push email, and I will def hold out for that HTC730 before I ditch my Hermes.

"1. Make sure you device is SuperCID, you can check using the SPV Services client, if on reading the CID it displays 3131313131313131 in a long string of numbers then it IS CID unlocked, if not, the click the CID = 11111111 button and reset your device"

the installation finished without this step and the phone is working well. sms, gprs everything is fine.

the only thing which i'm not able to do is to install the supplied application like task manager. i get an error with insufficient rights.
has this got to do with the missing step 1?

if i run the sda unlock i get an error as well...

Just installed this; seems to work good on the GPRS/EDGE connection. But with WiFi enabled, it reports "Failed to find network."

well after some digging i found out to use the streaming media player you need a direct connection that means gprs/edge or wifi (in dmz mode/ might work with port forwording) and no activesync connection (will not work with it at all)

if you go to bluetooth devices and select the device then go to "menu" you can assign a com port

No options for that. Outgoing port is still grey and i can't select it.

I see, I also use my tornado as a modem with my wizard!!:)
I've just installed the cab in my tornado and then refresh the services in the wizard. checked the DUN profile and made the new connection. I don't know why you can't make it work..:(

Did a hard reset, update the comm manager set up the BT connection between my SP5 and my Tytn, managed that but still no service available. Under connection i select my HTC smartphone but also no possibility to select the BT modem connection.

Maybe an other suggestion?

Unfortunately I don't know how to make use of metabase database without ROM cooking, so some stuff (filenames, entries in control panel) is not translated.

Full localization will be avaliable when jm012a9749 will take over it. It doesn't need much work, just knowledge how to cook ROMs. Unfortunatelly I don't have it :(

ok everyone heres a treat i took the htc streaming media app somebody posted, removed the files that would kill your phone (took a couple of hard resets:mad: ) and packaged them into a nice easy cab file... enjoy!

This probleme is your CID (HTCSCDL_0501 ) HTCE) , i had the same (Failed to create empty document) so i run SPV Service under XP and all was good.

you need a xp computer in order to supercid the phone. after that you can update your phone in vista as many times as you want!

go to a friend that has xp, install active sync, supercid your phone, remove active sync, because i doubt your friend will use it again, and then let the flashing begin :D

i have noticed a problem with teh sp5m button fix. It does restore the media player buttons, however, it doesnt restory the registy values. right now if you actually try to play/pause, forward, reverse, etc. it doesnt work. all the media buttons do right now is bring up windows media player.
try for yourselves.
can someone find the registry values and figure out how to fix this? i know somewhere there's guides on how to change the wmp values to work with tcpmp, pehaps we can just do this backwards? il look for that..

ok guys, after using htis rom for few days... I have few problems with it:

1. Bluetooth does not always work. sometimes it will not connect to my handsfree (already paired), after phone restart - it works.
2. it does not put every call into call log...
3. text messages: it shows date when received, but no time... in WM5 it would show a date or a time if it was received today. right now it seems that i can't tell if i received sms 2 minutes or 2 hours ago.

Ok, I can view the time the SMS was sent to me. The problem is you have to select the SMS message after it opens, you have to scroll up a bit to view the complete header. By default it scrolls down a bit so you only get to see the sender. Give this a try.

I just couldn't wait anymore and finally flashed my Qtek 8310 with this WM6 Rom. Strange, but for me it's noticably SLOWER than the old Qtek's ROM (version 2.5).
I think it might be slower cause the system core has debug mode on.

Flashing instructions are as follows:

NOTE: This will work on vista providing you have followed the Vista RUU guide HERE (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=252977) or HERE (http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/vista/index.html) :)

2. Download the ROM linked in the first post

3. Download the attached TeraTermPro.zip

4. Disable USB connections in ActiveSync (right click the icon in the systray, then select connection settings and untick the USB connections box), turn off your device, hold camera ad plug the device into the USB port to enter bootloader mode.

5. Extract TeraTermPro.zip and run ttermpro.exe, then select Serial and then USB in the drop down box. Then type: info 2

You will then probably get the following output:

8. Extract WM6TornadoALPHA.zip then run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the RUU folder.

9. Wait while it flashes your device

10. Install the extras you want in the 'extra stuff' folder, I recommend you install comm manager, task manager and xT9 as these solve most of the WiFi and T9 icon issues people are expericencing

11. Done :D

And a really strange thing - the Wi-Fi in this rom has missing WPA2 support! That's really strange, cause even WM5 AKU 3.3 has it. Looks like this test rom is older than AKU 3.3...
I've tested the A2DP and got no difference in sound at all with my old rom with installed A2DP support. So, there are not so many advantages in this rom :(

ok. these are the 3 settings you will need to do in cool camera:
1. settings\orientation -> portrait this will set up the text to be oriented right
2. settings\advanced settings\rotation -> 90L this will set up the image to be oriented right
3. settings\advanced settings\pixel order -> reversed this will fix the colors. if not changed red will look blue, etc...

after this, everything should work right

also, make sure you have the resolution and quality set up in the image section because you can have 1280 set up in camera application if you have 640 in cool camera, and then the pics you will take will be at 640!

Is this app used while making video calls on 3g network (if its ripped from the 3g enabled wm 6 phones)?? since i doubt the dail procedure might be calling a function from this app or something like this. which is creating a delay in making or answering the call..

can you post your _setup.xml file? and the instructions on how did you install?

I installed first WM6VoIP.CAB, then, like said in instructions, maked a cab from "_setup.xml" file. This cab installs ok and i get the Prov0SIPSettings file in Windows\system\VoIP directory.

can you post your _setup.xml file? and the instructions on how did you install?

I installed first WM6VoIP.CAB, then, like said in instructions, maked a cab from "_setup.xml" file. This cab installs ok and i get the Prov0SIPSettings file in Windows\system\VoIP directory.

Have you enabled Sip port from the registry..
HKLM/System/Voip/SIP/ Enableport5060=1?? If that is the case then you dont have to put the port in front of it

Office is already available as a cab, so there is no real point to keeping it in ROM, i'll extract Voice Command as well and put that in the extras folder

ok. these are the 3 settings you will need to do in cool camera:
1. settings\orientation -> portrait this will set up the text to be oriented right
2. settings\advanced settings\rotation -> 90L this will set up the image to be oriented right
3. settings\advanced settings\pixel order -> reversed this will fix the colors. if not changed red will look blue, etc...

after this, everything should work right

Hi, I use my C600 as a work phone but decided to upgrade as its a spare at the moment, Just thought I would add that after CID UNLOCKING ! the device worked flawless there is no issues with WM6 at all I am very happy with the performance and push email is fine, I dont use other Apps such as the camera and did use Mobile office once to read a document but had no issues there either.

yeah, its just wierd ive looked over the camera cab file and cant find a thing that could be causing the slow down, now im having it too! im gona try a manual removal of the camera and see what that does but im not expecting a change...

oh, and one thing ive noticed looking over the vox wm6 rom is that there is a whole lot of custom bluetooth audio profiles for a wide range of bluetooth devices (headsets, speakers, etc.) that might be a good addition to the rom (maybe as an optional cab file?) if anyone wants i could probaly extract them into a cab file for easy installation...

default folder for saving pictures on storage card is not my documents\my pictures any more but a lame dcim folder. that would be nice to be changed.

also, sometimes when answering a call, the keyboard stays locked, the call is still on, but the home screen is active and not the call screen.
joystick seems much better but sometimes it doesn't want to work as it should. maybe another driver; if not, this one is good

we need wpa2 for wifi enabled.

You are right about there not being any specific mention of WPA2 in the wireless settings. I did try an experiment though. I was previously running the iPhone ROM and it definitely would NOT connect to WPA2 so I had to drop back to WPA on my wireless router. When I installed the WM6 ROM, I set the router back to WPA2 and my SP5 will now connect and work perfectly.

Has anyone else manage to successfully make a WPA2 connection?

Here you have the scandinavian XT9. It requires that you install English XT9 before that packakage. English XT9 is included in the Firmware package under Extra stuff.

Go into the bootloader, then reflash with T-mobile WM5 ROM

Sometimes when I use the wireless manager (but also with some other programs) my phone hangs for 3 seconds or so. It makes a sound and then I can work on again. With WM5 I didn't have that problem.
Also my joystick is sometimes not reacting to anything.

I was just wondering if you also have (one of) this problems. And what can I do about it?

1. No Backgammon for the iMate folks. Should I have extracted that before flashing?
2. My AT&T network settings aren't picked up by default. Anyone know what they are? Looks like my permissions don't allow me to load the iMate setting versions via .cab. Do I need to application unlock my phone again after flashing or does WM6 have a security feature to prevent this? (never mind this one. I had an unlocking issue. I assumed the image was application unlocked.)
3. Do I need to install the patch to install applications on the miniSD or does WM6 address this?
4. Does the overclocking app work on this build? (looks like it does)

On a related note...

5. Anyone having trouble with Mororola S9 headphones skipping? I had problems on WM5 with this model as well - could be a bad S9.
6. Another S9 issue - calls are always in one channel mono (left) but the HT820 put calls into dual mono or simulated stereo. Also not WM6 specific.

I've got this files from the Vox ROM and I didn't modify them.

I've tried to install the greek language (taken from the M$ WM6 emulator image), but I've had no success. I've copied all *.408.mui files, mxipupdate_metabaselang_0408_001.provxml and tried to import some .rgu files (renamed them to .reg, used Resco Registry Editor to import them, but even if the import reported successful, the registry keys where not imported at all :mad: ). Anyway, I added the Greek language at the HKLM\MUI\Available key, but after changing the regional settings, only a few "strings" from the Settings menu where translated.

Could anyone, please, try to make a greek language installation file?

I'm having sync problems. Only half of my Outlook contacts sync normally. Then the Windows Mobile Device Center hangs and shows that the sync had an error. Deleting the pim.vol file, reinstalling WMDC doesn't help.

What is the reason for leaving the ROM application locked? It seems like everyone using it will application unlock it first thing. Might as well just adjust those registry settings in the ROM.

Will this ever work? Or does the nature of how this build was assembled prevent the authentication? If it did work what would it do? Would it download new .dlls to the writable portion of the ROM or does it acutally overwrite the old memory?

So I was kind of freaked out when listening to music on the SP5 now to have the phone read me my next appointment reminder.

Still I noticed that it switched to mono and the voice read the meeting in the left mono channel and when it was finished it went back to stereo music.

Anyone know if phone calls and these reminders are all in one channel? Anyone have an HT820 or any stereo headset other than an S9 currently working and want to tell us whether it uses both channels?

I used the overclocking utility to push the cpu to 204MHz from 180MHz and the difference is noticable. The bad thing is that when the screen goes to standby mode, the CPU speed is set back to default; 180MHz.

The only bug I could find for now is the multi-press timeout; it does not work for 1/2". If you set it to 1/2", the timeout remains 1". I believe it's a registry thing to change, just needs a bit of searching.

Just remap sp5m buttons directly from media player menu, it works for me.

It's ROM dependent I believe, on the V1240 ROM, the overclocking would remain unchanged, while on the i-mate/qtek ROM, speed is set to default when standby.

Same thing with the motorola MPX220.

i guess there myst be a utility that will automatically set the speed back to the desired level when phone goes out of standby

Did anyone noticed that it is necessary to press the soft key "Unlock" in order to login. Which means an extra step to login. Whereas in WM5 pressing any key will take you to the login screen.

You did warn me!! It didnt work. Had to revert the registry including the one for Pocket IE; renamed the "Storage Card" to Storage Card3; delete it and restart. Presto!! Storage Card2 was automatically renamed to its original name Storage Card. All this done thru ActiveSync.

I hope Phil & the Gang can do something on this.

Quick List tip : if you miss the easy power button shortcut to a full length quick list, I found a very straightforward way to enable it.

Use Celetask
- go to the Tool view
- then Create one for "QuickList"
- assign to the Power button.
That's It !
And now I can use the Wireless Manager from here and see the full profiles list (as expected in fact :))

I also create a 2nd shortcut from the Tools view, to assign Celetask to the RightSoft button :) (very convenient)

Maybe this is obvious to folks. If you have an exchange account and a hotmail (MSN) account you might be tempted to try and use them both on your phone. Here's my experience...

1. Give Windows Live Mobile your account information
2. Your phone will sync
3. Your contacts will combine giving you different icons for MSN and exchange
4. Your phone will display two different email lists

NOW WAIT A FEW HOURS

5. On your phone your contacts will be messed up. Only your MSN accounts will be left and some of them will be duplicated thirty times. Some of them will be missing. All your exchange contacts will have been deleted.
6. On your exchange account your contacts will be empty. Every one will be deleted when you open Outlook.
7. On your phone and your exchange account your calendar and tasks will be empty. Every appointment and task will be deleted.
8. All of your exchange email will be deleted both from your phone and from your exchange server.

I thought it might happen and created a backup just in case. It would be a bummer if you didn't have a backup.

Another problem with the WM6 rom. I've got call waiting option activated. When i have a incomming call while i'm having another call in progress and second one hang up then is no notification of missed call as was in WM5. Is some chance to get this fixed?

Guys do you also have issues to disconnect from wifi ? In my case once I'm connected... any attempt to disconnect will be just temporary and the tornado will reconnect just after...
Only valid solution is to reboot the device to keep it wifi-off

Had the same with the early beta of WLM, It messed up my Outlook contacts (so same behavior even without the Exchange acct), and I didnt want to push all of them on my hotmail account :(

Firstly big thanks to Phil for cooking up this ROM superb for alpha release!!!
Phil is there any way to get media player to play 3gp and mp4 files on the current alpha build maybe a reg edit or somthing ?
Not sure if everyone is having same issue but wont show up when I update library or manually try to open file from wmp and if I try in file manager it says no program assosiated.

I guess you are using localized version. Your outres*.dll.mui file is causing it. You can't use unmodified version from emulator/VOX. It needs adding a few dialogs to work.

Compare with P's rom, it fixed most of known bugs,and take hit camera 4,but still have no mms.
The coming build 07.07.07 would have a simple chinese interface.

we are really not sure about that. but an O2 XDA Phone ROM works fine with tornado as far as i know because i did it once. i can prove it. IMHO your phone is similar to i-mate sp4m which based on reviews is similar to tornado devices. still do your research to make sure. :cool:

I think this Chinese ROM is much updated, the HTC Camera 4.0, WM5Storage 1.71, Data Connection, Clear Storage, USB Switch, etc were already included in the ROM while Office is not included. It has no speed issue with the HTC Camera 4.0 . Wireless Manager and the Camera were already assigned to their corresponding buttons on the side of the phone so no need to use the Short_Camera and Short_POC links. And its already application unlock. According to Celetask, the free memory immediately after the installation is more or less 20MB. Seems almost all issues were corrected, thought still no MMS... :)

About the MMS, the software is not strong enough, and it's interface eyesores created. People who need it could install it himself.

Just remap sp5m buttons directly from media player menu, it works for me.
ive tried this but i havnt been able to set the fast forward button. when i hold it down it only counts it as a press, not a hold.
ive even found this in the registry and when i make it as a hold, it still only presses.

Since installing WM6, my SP5 has been locking up for no reason. Only about once a day but I pull it out of my pocket and the screen is blank. The only thing I can do is take the battery out and put it back in again.

I don't think that WM6 is to blame because my original i-mate WM5 also did the same thing. What makes it interesting is that I had been running the iPhone ROM for about four months and it didn't lock up once. I wonder what was different about it?

If im not mistaken, the email and the attachment can be moved into the storage card, but it will cause the SD card to corrupt sometimes

How do you reflash to old flash? i've a vodafone 1240v, i've flash without superCID and get bootloader screen too... but i don't know what flash use.. i've tried a lot of and always get "invalid vendor id" o "upgrade only" :(

I tried my luck to upgrade without SuperCID, suprisingly, I manage to flash it, till 100 percent, but when the device reboot, I only get the bootloader, seems like SuperCID is a must

Holy shit, it's working on my german XDA Phone! I'm so happy!!! :D
So the HTC Douton MUST BE a Tornado without any WIFI functionality! I think the nearest phone to the HTC Douton is the iMate SP5m! And the german language is working perfectly, nothing appears in english or some other language! No Storage Card prolblems with an 1 GB SanDisk MiniSD!

Navigate to the HTC folder and use the registry editor there to app unlock your phone. Registry edit instructions are posted on this thread.

My iMate ROM used to map this to the HTC Comm Manager, but the WM6 comm manager is so easily accessed from the home page that it seems unnecessary.

I would really like to map the voice recorder and it has options to remap to six different buttons, but the upper left side button is not one of those six.

I tested this rom yesterday, But it isn,t a big inprovment HTC Camera 4 is working(no dial deley) Test build is gone from the splash screen. But wen i instal al my stuf i got 1,5 MB left and with Phils rom i got 4MB left. So i flashed phils rom back and wait for a new WWE version.

Has anyone gotten their tornado device to connect over Bluetooth PAN on Vista? I had the Bluetooth DUN modem working on WM5 on Vista without any trouble, but I can't seem to get the PC to recognize the latest build as a PAN device.

Never mind - This is confusing to setup, but once Bluetooth is configured to active-sync you can simply enable it from the control panel network connections.

Hi All!

I have a strange problem with this ROM (I hope, the problem is in the ROM)! I have a Jabra BT320s headset. The phone recognise it only as a hands free device, but it's a stereo bluetooth headset, which also can use as wireless stereo. When I start the WMP, the Jabra controls it (play, pause, previous, next, etc.), but no sound in the earphones. So the AVRCP is working, I think it means that the Tornado recognises the Jabra more than as a Hands free device. In the bluetooth settings, the "set as a Hands Free" is active, but the "Set as Wireless Stereo" is gray, inactive. Is there any registry setting to solve this problem? The hands free function is working properly.

As in my previous post i have managed to get the supplied commanager to support more functions/different functions,

i have included ones to suit every version or tornado/faraday. these include IR which is linked to receive beams function. VOIP which i guess is for sip but i cant get the settings to work yet.

Upgrade installing works aswell. Any probs Either pm me or post in main thread and ill try and help.

ps if anyone knows how to change when clicking on the pluggin that shows date and carrier on home screen it loads wireless manager,i would like to change to htc commanager.

- Tried to send an SMS... It doesn't have T9. Only 3 kinds of Chinese input methods plus abc, ABC, 123 (Not even symbols!) (NOK)
- Camera software (OK)

Other impressions:
- VERY FAST
- No games (folder exists in Start menu but no game)
- Due to the usage of a Chinese System font msyh.ttf (10.3MB) little memory is left (after sync (about 350contacts), installing Office 6 & WLM 8.85MB storage left)
- Symbols input method is a MUST for me... (I never thought this could be :-P)

Do you know a "fix" for the input methods?

The .MID are still not working in the Sounds/Ringtones
With xT9 English, then xT9 language pack I have the symbols input AND all the languages with this chinese ROM (very nice so far with its sharp and small fonts)

I've managed to extract the greek mui files from the emulator ROM, signed them and installed them successfully in my Tornado. Here's the package: http://rapidshare.com/files/45410698/wm6.spQVGA_greek.package.alpha.rar

The file above contains 2 folders; "windows", which includes the files that should be copied into the \Windows folder, and "install", which includes the certificate and the .reg files (as well as the original .rgu files). In the root directory there are the mxip_lang_el.vol (install it to root folder) and the mxipupdate_metabaselang_0408_001.provxml (I don't know how to use this one).

To successfully install the above package, after copying the files to the windows folder, installing the .cab and importing the .reg files (use Resco Registry Editor), you must add the following registry keys:

[HKLM\MUI\Available]
"0408"="Greek" (or "Ελληνικά")

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows]
"LangDbPath"="\mxip_lang_el.vol"

Then select the Greek Language from the regional settings and ...voila!

PS: I'm not experienced with cab file creation, so I ask for your help. Could someone, please, create a greek language installation file (.cab) with the provided files and instructions? Thanx in advance!

@pyrorob - Tried it, and no :P Corrupted my IMEI and its also got a different byte count (probably because of the newer NBH bootloader)... Luckily, I fixed it :D
