BT A2DP car stereos

Just curious if anyone has any of these and how well they work. Best Buy, for instance, has the Sony MEXBT2500 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8223059&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat52600050007&id=1166840115423) for about $185 which doesn't seem like a bad price for it. Actually it seems like a really good price for a head unit with BT built in instead of requiring an additional adapter (that is nearly $200 by itself). I mean, BB kind of sucks but there are plenty of places who will price match and offer somewhat better service.

I've been using the MEXBT5000 (the 2500's predecessor) since January. It's the best BT unit of any kind I've ever used - its phone performance is better than any headset I've used, and the A2DP performance is equally good. I'd expect the 2500 to perform just as well, if not better.

Note that the 2500 doesn't have preouts, which may be a factor if your car has a premium sound system.

Damn, I knew that was too good to be true. Who the hell makes a premium radio like this and leaves off something as important as the preamp outs? Sony apparently. Yeesh. Well, that officially prices most of them out of my price range I suppose. No way am I paying $500 to get one.

I will need the Nissan adapters for my Inifiniti, but this looks like a good buy nonetheless.
I could care less about the preamps. My J30 has amps built in on every speaker. Bose system... the head unit blew 2 months ago and I've been living with only the road/engine noise for company.

Then you will need an adapter to convert the speaker level output of the radio to something the amps on the speakers can handle. Generally speaking, though, when you install an aftermarket stereo into a system with a premium factory radio like that, you have to bypass the factory amps and run off the radio's speaker level outputs.

You could always wait a little bit, and buy a new car. Ford is coming out with the "SYNC" system that does a whole lot more than let you stream...
USB port for hard-drive, voice activated navigation...etc.:D

No offense but I've had it with American cars. When they build something reliable then maybe I will buy one but for the time being my '93 Infiniti J30 with 170K miles on it is far more reliable and will probbably outlive any US made car out there.

Haha. I think I'd rather pass on that. It would be much cheaper to buy an aftermarket stereo and pretty much guaranteed to be better quality too. OEM stereo system = teh suck. The premium ones are okay, but even they get their butts handed to them by a decent quality aftermarket setup.

I have tried to use the A2DP feature with the Sony MEXBT2500 with some luck, but with some problems.. There was an awful high pitch tone that comes thru the speakers when you stream audio via bluetooth to the head unit. I managed figure out that it depends on the Rom version of WM6 that I was using.. The best sound quality I got was from Nstefanelli's WM6 version...
