I believe the HTC Home Plugin comes pre installed on the Rom of the Sprint Touch. How do I disable the plugin to properly install the customizer?

Kaiser Home NOW with tab setting through registry ENABLED

OK, I wont work to improve this plugin anymore. I receive few PM asking me to release version with certain tab disabled. Rather than creating separate cab for each individual, I just enable the tab setting through registry. To enable/disable/change order all you have to do is edit the registry key.
By default only 5 tabs is enabled. You can change the Tab by editing this registry key:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/HTCHome Tabsetting. Initially the key will be this string: "1,2,3,4,5" This enable the Home, QuickDial, Weather, Launcher and Music in that order.
If you want to add the profile tab simply change it to: "1,2,3,4,5,6" with the profile tab being the last.
"1,4,2,5,6,3" will change the order to: Home, Launcher, QuickDial, Music, profile and weather.
"1,2,4,5" will display only four tabs: Home, QuickDial, Launcher and Music.

This is the original post i was wondering if someone could walk me through the steps to edit the registry because i have no idea on how to it, also does anyone have the link to 2.0 version of the Kaiser Home plugin , i would really apreaciate it.

I've no use for the weather thing, I just look out the window, and the nearest place listed is 130 miles away and gets totally different weather anyway..

I used to be able to add a texters phone number from the text to my contact list easy. Now I don't see that option at all.

Just installed manually fromn the cab folder, and...I've loose the HTC Home...
This is what I get:
1 - Only 3 tabs : if I try to select more tha 3 tabs, I can see max 4 tabs. If I choose the foruth tab, I can enter in, but if I change tab I cannot enter again in the fourth tab. Even if I choose three tabm but I choose a non default tab (home, weather, launcher) the non default tab is unaccessible.

2 - If I uninstall the plugin, I can use the default plugin and, if I copy manually the icons in the \Windows directory, it's working pretty good.

This is a screen capture, after uninstalling the plugin and after manually copied the icons, clock and weather icons.

The one below HTCHome that shows the temperature etc... with the battery icon I would really like.

Also it looks like you have something that shows all running programs in the bottom right, kinda like a task tray?

Hey Gem,

The task bar is running an app called Wisbar Advance 3. It skins all aspects of the top bar, and has lots of other functionality too (task manager, etc).

The bottom today plugin is SBSH PocketBreeze, with a skin to match the top bar. Pocketbreeze is a calendar, contacts, email and other today plugin. Both are commercial apps, but definitely worth it in my mind.

(Q): How can I remove the "clock" and "Network Name" from my HTC Home Screen Plugin?

Point being both are pointless for me and I desperately need the screen real estate that it would free up and use for my other plug ins.
Besides which I already have the obvious htc large clock on screen along with the top bar multi line clock & date viewable all the time so don't need the HTC plug in telling me the same.

Any help appreciated as its a headache for me.

That is a good question....I use pTravelAlarm and would like it to laujnch that. I doubt it is possible, but we can always hope :eek:

I was able to get the weather to work correctly for my home town (Mt. Washington, KY) but once I got that working my changes to the Customizer stopped working.

Any input on why it stopped or if it is either the weather or the customizer?

Ok, so I got the program working on my Sprint touch.

Here is a question, I use PocketCM to send SMS. Is there any way to have the SMS icon on the Today screen (next to the email and missed calls icons) link to PocketCM rather than the default SMS on the phone?

My Mogul is having a weather problem that no one seems to have; no matter how I load the Cabs, I still am unable to use the Custom city db I make. It seems like no matter which db the program is set to use, it still uses the HH_409_weathercities db in the HHCHome directory, and that is for the Default cities. I have installed the Kaiser cabs, I think all of them, I have loaded the HHC Emunutz Custom 0.8 and 1.0b cabs; I’ve installed them into main and storage memory. I find the Custom db under HHC Home Custom directory in /files/wdb, so it does exist as the db I make, it seems as though nothing is pointing to the Custom db. Should these db be in a different directory? or named something different? I’ve read all the procedures on how to load the programs, and unless I’ve missed a step or misinterpreted something, I can’t get this only aspect to work. My question is where should the Default and the Custom db for the cities reside? I don't understand how the HH_409weathercities db could be for both the custom and the default. Does someone have any suggestions. Thanks

Will this customization file allow me to change the settings in the Music Player tab? Currently I am using HTC Audio Manager as my default there, but when the song is playing the display is showing the mp3 tag name and the time remaining. Ideally I would like to see the "time elapsed". When I expand the player, Audio Manager shows time elapsed in the actual player, but in the HTC Home interface tab I only see the time remaining. Any way to change that setting? Registry possibly? Thanks for anyone who can figure this out.

He tells me everything is updated and saved etc ... only nothing happens.
Nothing changes in my homescreen ... the three standard tabs remain.

I have a Dutch HTC Touch and don't have any oher modification.
Can anybody help me ?

Hey I'm using the new Beta and so far so good.

I have two questions for ya...
1) How often does the weather update itself and/or can that frequency be set?
2) Is is possible to change the tab shortcut icons myself? I know you can pick tab icon sets but can I go back in and change individual ones?

I originally had my weather set to the Default list, with Chicago, IL as the city. I tried to do a custom for Kenosha, WI - but it doesn't want to work.

I attempt to go back to the Default list and Chicago - but it seems to be locked on Kenosha, which is doesn't pull weather for.

I've tried rebooting, etc. Nothing seems to clean it up.

You are FANTASTIC!!! I am moderately proficient with IT work and I just purchased an AT&T Tilt (a/k/a 8925, a/k/a Kaiser II) running on CE 6. Well let me tell you that after downloading v0.8b after already finding the HTC Home plugin that I had loaded without problem (5 tab) as well as the HTC Audio Manager, I was looking for a way to default to HTC rather than WMP. Everything worked perfectly! In fact I got more than I bargained for...not only was I able to choose the HTC Audio Manager as default, I was able to convert the 5 tab Home format to 6 tab, play with the color options, different clock, back up, etc. The only little glitch was that all my 'Favorite People' tab choices disappeared and I was unable to retrieve my contacts. So, after a soft restrart, the contacts were once again accessible and I was able to choose my 'Favorite People' again...You did a great job in making my AT&T 'vanilla' stripped default bios settings into a multimedia pleasure.

Actually, the HTC Home Plugin does put the battery indicator in the titlebar, that's how I first noticed that it put the indicator up there as that is not done by the default Sprint ROM. The registry entry to disable the battery indicator is :

HKLM\Software\Services\Power\ShowIcon = 0

You can also check the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ folder and set ShowTitleBarClock and to 1. That should make it so all that is in the titlebar is the clock. You may be able to remove that by setting ShowTitleBarClock to 0 as well but I haven't tested it.

*edit* Ok, I tested this and it doesn't seem to matter whether the Power\ShowIcon entry is set to 0 or 1. If Shell\ShowTitleBarClock is set to 0 the battery indicator is displayed and if ShowTitleBarClock is set to 1 the clock is displayed, but it has to be one or the other, unless there is another registry entry I'm missing...

I need some help to setup HTC Home.
I installed IX on my Prophet, but I want to disable the first line in HTC Home page (above the time) where there is the name of the provider and the date, and the line just below the time, where there are the 3 tabs MMS/SMS/Calls.
Because it takes lot of place on the screen, if I want to use SPB Diary.

I don't know if it's clear (I'm not english).

Is it possible ?

I have HTC Audio Manager v1.2.515.718 downloaded from PPCFreeware.com to my device but when I switch WMP to Audio Manager, I get a:

The File 'AudioManager' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found... message.

Anyway to determine what files must be where to get it to initialize?

I found out that the Audio Manager v1.2.515.718 and it's files must all be installed in /windows directory and a AudioManager.ink (shortcut of AudioManager.exe) created in windows/start menu/programs and once you switch default media player to Audio Manager, it will initialize.

Not AFAIK. You can remove all the tabs except the HOME tab. So you still use up real estate on the screen...

I love this program. I tried the custom weather database to fill in my city but I couldn't get it to work so I switched back to the city that was listed (only 30 miles away).

My problem is I set it to Auto update the weather. I thought this would work like SPB Mobile Shell where it updates the weather peoriadically during the day. It seems like every time I press the key to check the weather it updates which takes about a minutes (No EVDO here).

Is it possible to tell it to update periodically during the day?

You need to download the plugin and you can use the plugin to make your screen look exactly like that.

My Touch Dual goes nuts after install Htc Customizer 1.0. Can't do anything in PDA, it's completly block. I've already do soft an hard reset beut don't solve the problem. He restarts but blocks when arrives to insert Pin menu. Don't response to any command.

I've already take away the microSD Card anda nothing happens again.


What can I do more?

To use the app, extract the zip file anywhere on your device (main memory, storage card) and run the homecust.exe. The program is menu driven and pretty straightforward.
For some reason when i extract to the device I don't find the .exe file to run program. Any suggestions?? This has been happening with every zip file I downloaded for the past few days.

You can use the customizer to select the default weather and everything should be right as rain;)

And YA I had the same disapointment from the custom weather data base as the fellow that setup his server to include a WAY BETTER weather data base for everyones benifit just stopped letting it run I guess:( . I have not been able to get weather for my city for a month or so now!

I wish someone who knew a bit about servers would come along side everyone here using this home plug in the world, and help us all out:D ! If someone would let a SMALL script run in the background to make this work again, I can offer the original instructions for the HOW TO! I would, but I know nothing about programing.

I'm hoping someone can help me out, I have installed the HTCHomePlugin and the cutomizer (HHCv10b5) When I try to open either on my phone it says that the installation was unseccessful. the programor setting cannot be installed because it does not have suficient system permissions.

If I try to download the home plugin from the customizer it says Alert plugin was not installed. Please report this error.

Any suggestiosn on how to get this working, it looks fantastic and I'd really like it up and running.

i have tried to install the V1 beta 5 and it does change the appearance but the 3 orignal tabs still remain but with the new appearance of my choice (after a soft reset)

i tried everything and nothing was possible and the prog had some conflict and i couldnt use it anymore so i deleted it and got the older version from the emu website and got back to my orignal apearance....

i tried adding the 6 tab again and it still remains at 3...its VERY frustrating...i have spent over 2 hours on this and i am back exactly how i started..wondering if its worth going through it all over again....

i am using an ELF...(HTC Touch)

any help to get me modified with 6 tabs with the available appearances will be HIGHLY appreciated...

Dude, I think you answered your own question here.."sprint charges per /kb" LOL ;).

All you have to do is plug the sync cable into your computer and the phone will use the computers internet connection through Windows Mobile Device Centre or Active Sync, just make sure that "Allow data connection on device when connected to PC" is ticked in WMDC.

I noticed that after installing a new set of icons or images that the \Windows directory gets filled with tons of new graphic files (i guess they're needed for the skin) and this brings browsing that directory to a crawl. Is there any way to make HTC HOME fetch the graphics from somewhere else so i can delete them from \Windows?

I might be too picky, but there is a HUGE difference when browsing \Windows and i go there often.

Tapping on the BackLight icon in HTChome used to change the backlight by 1/4 each tap. The Icon no longer does anything now.

Is there a Registry switch/tweak to restore this function to the Backlight Icon?

Maybe it's a conflict w/ one of my 30+ installed programs... no, I do not want to uninstall all of them to find out. Is there something I'm missing?

\windows\backlignt.exe only takes you to the backlight setting screen, so there must be a switch somewhere for the HTC home icon, Thanks in Advance.

I switched from SPB Pocket Plus 4.0 to HTC Home and although I prefer the appearance of Home, I miss some of the functionality of Pocket Plus. Is it possible to create today-plugins INSIDE tabs on HTC Home? Example: With PP I had one tab where I put several search bars so they weren't hogging my Today screen. Anyway to do something similar with Home?

May I suggest a feature that upon install, you create a backup of the original settings that can always be restored to. I'm sure there are many other OCD people like me who like to have the safety net of returning back to the original settings of their HTC Home.

I downloaded the lite version and then via your software downloaded the iphone icons, but caught myself from updating my icons to them as I figured you simply replace the image files in HTC Home. There doesn't seem to be an "undo" feature. I am still trying to wrap my brain around a lot of this customization stuff and am wondering if your "original" icons are exactly equivalent to the HTC icons or merely mockups. I don't want to lose the originals I currently have installed with my original HTC Home, so I've gone ahead and created a backup. Which brings to mind another suggestion, can you allow for multiple backups by prompting users to give their backup subfolders a different name each time (i.e. "original", "updated to iphone icons", etc.). Hope this made sense. Thanks for a great product!

When I installed poorlyduck vista cube graphics only.cab. Everything works fine except when I get to the application launcher. The graphics has not changed. It somehow changed for a split second but after that it goes back to default. That just happens in this screen.

You should be able to create multiple backups, but if you want the orginal, there is an option to download the original content to your phone again from the HTC Home Customizer if you do lose the original content.

I am running DCD 2.2.0 and other ROMS mixed in with WM6.1 on a XV6800 and it works with the Kaiser HTC Home Plugin and Customizer. It should work on yours since it is meant for HTC Devices.

i installed HHC today and it works wonderfully on my niki running the Niki Project ROM (WM6.1).

Here are a few things that didn't work for me so if someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it:

1. HTC Home tabbing. The HTC Home on the Niki ROM is adjustable up to 6 tabs in the Today screen, but when I installed HHC and tried to pick 5 tabs, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

2. I tried to download additional backgrounds, icons and clocks but nothing shows up in the live downloads list. I can preview a bunch that I want with PIE but none of them show up in the list. Even when I tried "Download All", it doesn't work. Help?

I was wondering about modifying some of the features of HTC home. First, the "Automatic" function for the sound. Currently it sends the phone to vibrate for all scheduled events. Could that be modified to do it only for events listed as "busy" like the smartphone version does?

Second, the screen rotate function rotates the screen to the opposite side of my phones keyboard (the titan) could that become an option in the customizer?

Website is back up now. As far as your syncing issue I don't know what could be happening. Maybe ActiveSync isn't running? You could also try a different USB cable or port on your PC. I've had it happen many times where a port gives just enough power to recognize the device, but not enough to load drivers and sync. Another thing that happened to me the other day was that the device created a temp file in My Documents it could not sync. I did a soft-reset and all was well.

I downloaded the excellent HHC V1.0 and from within its screens downloaded the HTC audio manager to ensure I got the latest and greatest.

Audio Manager starts from the program page, but for some reason, not from the "music/launch music player" buttons within the completed HHC home screen. Any idea how to fix this? I already re-downloaded, which didn't change anything.

You have to remove the following registry key:
HKLM/Software/OEM/MASD/Quickdial

Soft reset your phone after the key is removed.

Contacts tab will show up in your HTC Home after that.

Unfortunately, I do not have 'advanced configuration' under Settings, and it (or HTC Home)doesn't show up on any of the personal, system, or connections screens.

Every time I have to reload HHC, I get it loaded on, it downloads the appearances packages etc... then tells me it needs to download the Home Plugin, but will then fail to install it. What do I do? I have the Home Plugin CAB file, and if I install it, HHC STILL says it isn't installed. Anyone?

There is a transparancy pack that was floating around a long time ago for that. Makes that blanked out look VERY cool:cool:. I will go through what I have for all the independant icon packs for you, but you do know you WILL have to manualy copy it over top the factory set, right? I think you already know how seeing as you already did that with the Diamond clock;).

For the fellow that wants the Diamond Clock pack, do a thread search here on xda as there is a thead where you can pick the pack up! If I find it while looking for the other I will let you know to.

BTW- I LOVE your BT/WiFi/Phone switching tabs at the bottom of your screen! Can you please share the cab you used for that app, I have been looking for one like that for ever now lol. As I always am switching those three in the comm mang. What a PAIN doing it all the time.

I like the weather option but what is more important to me is what the weather is for the day i am on. On the SPB the weather for that day was shown as:

Afternoon
Evening

Very helpful when you do work outside to have an idea of how the weather might progress through the day...

You will have to go to pocketemu.com and ask for that there. It is not in possible right now, BUT there is a LAST and FINAL VER being made RIGHT NOW. So if you ask on pocketemu.com fast enough (as that is a VERY GOOD idea) the developer there just may put it in the LAST release;)!!
That has not been asked before, but I LIKE it:D!

As for the transparancy pack, I have not been able to find it yet, so I think I didn't download it at the time. BUT it was listed in the HTC Home customizer threads by a fellow called Marduc I think, or also in the POST YOUR TODAY SCREEN threads (I think that was the one). In there he was posting the MOST screen shots of anyone, up to 2-3 a day sometimes, for weeks on end. I remember he did it first and it looked cool:cool:! I just was not able to get around to doing that myself yet, but still want to. Check there and PM him at 4winmobile.com. I am justy heading out on a trip right now for two weeks. Let me know how you make out, or if you found his post on it or not. I will give it a try to find it if now when I get back, as I WANT it to still;)!

That is odd, try opening hhc and switch that buttons function in the launcher tab, save it, then open hhc and change it back and save. see if that fixes it. when changing icons mine sometimes acts a little tempermental.

It is backlight.exe in windows, you may have to remap that button or reinstall that file.

No, just unzip the file and copy them into htc home customizer (program files/htc customizer/files/icons.) Open up HHC and they should be there to select from the icon list.

Mind you, this is going to sound stupid...I like it but found them a bit small for my settings... I only use 3 tabs... (Home/Weather/Programs Launcher)...
So far I'm sticking to Color DKaye, since they don't have a frame around the icon, when you highlight them it looks like a big button.. Do I make sense?
On the other hand with yours, though it looks nice, when one icon is highlighted seems like a small button inside a button...
Hope this makes sense... I don't know how esle to explain it..
If you can mke them a bit bigger and no frame I'll be the first one to use them.. They look simple yet professional...

Make sure you have htchome disabled when you do this. open hhc, choose another icon set, save, go back into hhc then choose glass set. re enable htc home. That usually does it for me.

I installed the HTC HomePlugin on my X500 with WM6.1 and after many version of the custumizer I finally installed the HHCv10b5.CAB.
This version can be loaded but doesn't work, I can't change anything on the HTC Home.
The HTC Home supposed to be a 6 button version but only 3 appears!!!!!

The clock is kind of weird to install.. you have to click on it (wherever it is saved under).. it opens the unrar folder... select extract.. (very important on this menu click on select all files and overwrite existing files) finally unzip them all into the windows folder... It will overwrite your present clock...
all you are left to do now is soft-reset and done...
For the the wallpaper just open it and select use as background...

I have my HHC and Audio Mgr installed on my device and they work fine. Prior to that, I had the Audio Mgr installed on the storage card and I would get the same message as you.
Just a suggestion. Try uninstalling both, do a soft reset, reinstall HHC first, then Audio Mgr.

Allright, I've read the majority of the pages in this thread and can't find an answer. This is on a HTC Kaiser and I am new to this.

I've downloaded V1.0 Final and installed it. I also downloaded the add-on package. The customizer opens up fine and I can preview the changes that I am making on the top of the screen but when I try to save the changes I get an error that says:

An error occured copying your selected ***. The program will now continue.

The *** is anything that I tried to change; clock, background, icons...

Also, there are very limited options in the background, weather and icons menus. The clock menu has a lot of options.

What do I need to do?

Have a new Tilt. HTC Home Customizer works great except when I try to change the order or deactivate one of the 6 tabs. The order always remains the same and never deactivates. Even when I move the Weather icon to last and save it, it remains in third place. I
