HHC is now v1.0 Final and this version of the program is seriously outdated. Some functions do not work at all. Please visit www.pocketemu.com to download an updated version of HHC. This information is left here for archival purposes only and should be considered obsolete.

This program will let you customize, backup and restore the HTC Home Plugin. Currently it lets you customize the background, clock, tab icons, and weather icons separately. Please leave your feedback as I am constantly trying to add/update the feature set. Please view the readme for details.

ATTENTION
The install cab has been removed from the package, however you now have the option to download the home plugin based on your WM version. This is NOT guaranteed to work, but seems to work for the vast majority. You may still install your own version prior to running the customizer, however only the downloaded versions are guaranteed to work with all options.

Also, there is now a 2.0 version of the Kaiser Home plugin with several fixes (working profiles, contact # selection, etc.), however it's only available for WM6. This is the version the customizer will download and install for you if the plugin is not detected (on WM6). The links below are the 1.5 version if anyone would like to use that instead.

NOTE ABOUT LIVE DOWNLOADS
Live downloads are very primitive currently, although very functional. Please leave your feature requests for this module in this thread, as they will be added to v1.0 when released.

If you lose your data connection while downloading a file through the customizer, you may experience a delay of up to 5 minutes before the customizer recognizes the connection is lost. This issue will be also be addressed in v1.0.

THEMES
OK, here's how themes work. The "Theme" is broken down into four "Appearance" options. They are Background, Clock, Icons, and Weather Icons. I split those up for two reasons. First, I haven't found any (I'm sure they're out there) alternate weather icons, so copy the sames files over again is redundant and wastes times. Second, it gives you a little more control over the customization of your themes. What the program does is it takes the names of the four Appearance options you have set and save those parameters to the themes.ini file with the name you have given it.

You can then go back and reload that theme (four image sets) anytime you wish from the Themes menu.


INSTALLATION
YOU MUST HAVE THE HTC HOME PLUGIN INSTALLED TO USE THIS PROGRAM. If you would like to use the Tab Order function, you must have a version of the plugin that supports it.

YOU MAY OPTIONALLY INSTALL THE HTC AUDIO MANAGER to use with the Music tab.

HHC is now packaged in a CAB installer. You can install/uninstall this like any other program now. If you have a previous version with a custom backup or appearances, you can copy them into the new installation folder as the folder structure has stayed the same.

If you do not have a Home plugin installed, the customizer will prompt you to download and install a compatible version. You may decline, however you will not be able to use it unless you have one installed.

You can also download a version of Audio Manager for your WM version from the HTC Options menu.

Neither the Home plugin or the Audio Manager are guaranteed to work with your device, however these packages have worked for many people.


USAGE
1. Go to Start -> Programs and launch the HTC Home Customizer.
2. Use the program.
3. Close the program. Once complete, the plugin should reload automatically and you should see your changes if you made any.

WEATHER
Thanks to N2A on XDA forums, you can now pull your local weather. Based on his patch, I've implemented a switchable setup for your weather. You may continue to use the default or switch to a custom db where you can enter the cities you wish, most US cities by zip code only! Please see this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319187&highlight=n2a+weather) for more details about zip/location codes you will need to enter. You will only need your zip/location code, as the program will handle all the database and reg entries for you.

If you are having trouble with local weather over your phone's data connection when selecting a custom database, try this via wifi (tested) or activesync (untested):
1. Disconnect your phone's data connection.
2. Enable the alternate internet connection and open PIE.
3. Browse to http://htc.accuweather.com, you should get N2A's "error page" (at this point, your weather should now update)
4. Disconnect the alternate connection and re-enable your phone's data connection
5. Try to update the weather tab, you should now get your local weather if everything is setup correctly.

If it's still not working and your on WM6, use the cab from N2A's post above. The cab he provides is more reliable than the "Pocket Hosts" method he describes, which is what the customizer now uses

MINOR BUGS/ISSUES
Occasionally the program will lock up or soft reset the device. This has only happened after repeatedly opening the program. I've only heard this from one other user, so I think it might have something to do with another package. I'm still looking into this issue.

The only difference between the packages is that HHC Lite has NO APPEARANCE sets included as you can now download them as you wish through the program.

To use the app, extract the zip file anywhere on your device (main memory, storage card) and run the homecust.exe. The program is menu driven and pretty straightforward.

You still need to change that option in the weather settings of the HTC plugin. My customizer will backup/restore that option for you, but I didn't add it as a setting because you can set it with the Weather options in the HTC plugin (Tap the city name, then go to Menu->Weather Options).

Now that you brought it up, if I add that option, you wouldn't have to go into the weather options at all. I'll add the option to the next version for convenience.

It's called PSW Metrix 1.1. There's 2.0 beta version there, but it doesn't fit all 4 status bars on one line, it wraps the brightness setting down to the next line (really annoying).

I want to include them. I asked the author's permission ( I know it's just color adjustments, but I haven't had time to redo them myself yet ), but have not received a response yet. If you want to use them yourself, download one of the packages and drop the images into the <HHC path>\FILES\clock\Custom folder. Then run Appearance->Clock->Custom. They will be applied.

I had the same issue a few times while i am playing with the software. I am not sure why.

I restored a previous backup and the problem was not there. I was using an app called HTCustom that Shadomite created for another HTC device that did different hacks for. I think that was the culprit.

I'm really a noob at this and this is my first PPC. With that said, I LOVE this plugin! It makes everything so much more user friendly than the 'regular' Microsoft today/home screen.

I've tried the SPB plugin and like the way SPB displays the weather for different times of the day. Can this plugin do that?

Not exactly sure why it's hanging on you. Best bet is to try this:

1. Uninstall the old HTC plugin using the Settings->System->Remove Programs.
2. Perform a soft-reset.
3. Launch HTC Home Customizer and try the install again. It installs silently and does take a couple minutes to install.

Thanks emunutz for the tip but still don't works. But the question is: when the program says "[...] Don't touch anything until the menu will appear again" I have to tap on the OK square upright, or not ? May I have to wait there, or I have to click on ok to start the installation ? I'm little bit confused because if I click OK the installation stops and the main application screen returns. If I wait there, nothing (seems to ) happens.
Maybe I have to sit and wait longer ?

Another thing: I have a Touch and the HTC Home Plugin is not listed in the application removal list. Maybe this is the problem ?

Update: I've just downloaded and installed the 0.6 version. Now the installation of the plugin is successfull, but, at the end, whrn I close the application, the original HTC Home plugin is loaded. No 5 tabs, no new clock, no new icons...
Nothing.
I will continue to try and I will let you know if there will be any news.
At this point I think that the HTC Home plugin is hardcoded into the HTC Touch.

Just installed manually fromn the cab folder, and...I've loose the HTC Home...
This is what I get:
1 - Only 3 tabs : if I try to select more tha 3 tabs, I can see max 4 tabs. If I choose the foruth tab, I can enter in, but if I change tab I cannot enter again in the fourth tab. Even if I choose three tabm but I choose a non default tab (home, weather, launcher) the non default tab is unaccessible.

2 - If I uninstall the plugin, I can use the default plugin and, if I copy manually the icons in the \Windows directory, it's working pretty good.

Not in it's current form. I am planning on support WM5 devices (and the WM5 5(6)-Tab cab) in the next release, v0.7. I had this same problem. Transfer the ZIP file directly to your storage card and un-zip the files there. Then run the program like you normally would. This worked for me. Like a dumb tard I unzipped the files on my PC then transfered them to my storage card. This DOES NOT work.

v0.7 is now a 2-step process to perform a fresh install.

1. Install the appropriate Home plugin depending on your version (which it sounds like you have).
2. Extract the "HTC Home Customizer v07.zip" on your PC (Total Commander will not work on your PPC).
3. Transfer the extracted folder to your device (Storage Card or Main Memory) via ActiveSync or directly to the Storage Card.
4. Enter the folder you transferred and launch the "homecust.exe".

If you wish to create a shortcut to the program, select Options->Shortcut->Create Shortcut

The customizer itself doesn't install, it just facilitates 'seasoning' the Home Plug-in to taste without having to copy files and edit reg entries manually. IOW, just unzip .7 to a new folder (I wouldn't reuse the same folder, personally) and have at it. :)

Do you know how or why when I installed the earlier version of Audio Manager (to allow playlist to continue after one song when in sleep mode) an error comes up that it is not certified or missing file, yet can be run direct from programs????

Only thing I can think of is that you had a previous version of the Home plugin installed to \HTCHome, and the new install is in \Windows. The customizer checks for the existance of the \HTCHome directory first. So if this folder exists, all your changes are being put in there instead of \Windows.

To resolve this (if this is the problem), just delete \HTCHome then run the customizer again.

If this is not the case, PM me and I'll help you work it out.

You have two options in his post. v0.7 of the customizer uses the "Pocket Hosts" method described in his original post. If you are having problems with this method, you could try using his patched cab for the Home plugin (which seems to be more compatible than the "hosts" method).

i don't need 6 tabs on my htc home since i don't use the other 3 new tabs much but i want to be able to change the icons of the programs i have in my launcher to the ones i want. i have both the png and ico files i want to use already but have yet figured out a way to do it. Does anyone know how i can do that? (preferably a simpler way since i'm completely pda stupid as this is my first)

**i even wanted to try the whole registry tweak thing but couldn't do so since i couldn't find a way to change my ico file to dll

Thanks. That's funny, because that's how I started creating the program, I had like 5 different cab files and thought to myself, "This is ridiculous", then it just grew from there.

As far as the tabs, what do you mean by swapped? In a different order, or the wrong icons are being displayed under the tabs? If it's just the tab order, you can change that with the customizer.

I had some issues with fetching local weather (zip code + country was not sufficiant). To solve it, I searched on Google for "Accuweather mycity mycountry". This gave me a page on the accuweather-site with the predictions for mycity. If I then chose for 1-5 day prediction, it loaded a different page; in the URL of this new page is the location code, which I could then use to create my custom city. :)

I do have one question though: is it possible to add wind information (speed in kts + direction), or is this information not even downloaded by the plugin?

Error Description: When using ANY HTC Home Plugin, i found the following graphical error:

ill use the home tab as my example, when it is not selected, it is dull and transparent, and when you select it it gets a grey box around it and the icon image becomes lighter, this happens with all icons appart from the music note and the contacts tab

FIX:

i have fixed the images so that when they are selected they react the same as the others.

TO USE:

Copy the images i have attached into the following folder replacing the ones in there:

HTC HOME Customise\HTC Home Customizer v07\FILES\icons\Original

then apply the "Original" Icon Set.

I'll add that to the package. Anyway, as for the selection fix, after the patch is applied, the left and right side of the selection box are thin grey bars. For some that's cool, but looks a little strange to me. Do you think you could clear the HH_FW_selectedleft.png and HH_FW_selectedright.png and add them to your zip. (or snag them from my Transparent background in the customizer, I'll move the whole fix to the semi-trans package for the next release).

well, I can usenow htc home and the customizer, if we have wm6 in another language instead of wwe, the plugin just dont appears, we need to rename some files to the right language code.

Thanks for the compliment. To answer your question, yes and no :)

Yes, you can make the clock and icon images smaller if you resize the images inside the PNG files (but keep the canvas the same size), however this will not give you any more screen space, as I believe the dimesions for the tab layouts are in the DLL for the Home plugin. That would take some major hacking to get going, I'm not sure if anyone is currently working on this though.

I'd love to make a tabbed interface, unfortunately MortScript doesn't have that ability. The interface is as "smooth" (compared to all the prompts for v0.1) as I can make it with the current scripting language. I'm looking into porting the app into either .Net (I'll put on my flame retardant suit now) or a native app (preferred) for WM. Problem is I don't know C/C++/C# programming to do this, but I'm a fast learner :) I just got the tools to start, so we'll see if I can get it together for v1.0.

If anyone knows of any good resources with tutorials and examples for WM to get me started, I'd appreciate if you would PM me the links/sources.

C# is really easy, I'd never done nothing useful for ppc only for xp, the default buttons are really uggly in .NET.
But u can do real good stuff, the problem is the requirement of the framework.
Dont use 2003 SDK included with .net 2005, at least install the wm5 sdk, it has good improvements ;)

The only way to change the size/format or the data the plugin displays would be through hacking the plugin itself. All the customizer is able to do is replace the image files and change/backup/restore settings. Would be nice if one of the uber-hackers here would like to take on that challenge though.

My prophet got VERY slow! I recognized that the home plugin customizer placed about 200-300 files in windows/ (HH_....)
i think this is the reason for slow performance!
I can't understand why some programs place their files in /windows instead of this, the files could be saved in Windows/HH_home_plugin .... or something like that.
If someone is able to do that,pleaso PLESE DO IT!!!

I compiled a rar with all the files and the instructions nessary to run a very stable touchflo on the mogul stock rom no mods needed if anyone needs the rar let me know and ill try and get back to you asap leave ur e-mail the rar is 5.75mgb and has all the cabs ziped up in it.

Ok, here we go. The customizer is not making your PPC run slow, the version of the plugin you are using installs to \Windows, which makes browsing the \Windows directory slow, but doesn't slow down the PPC. The customizer doesn't add any extra files, so those are the files that belong to the home plugin and none extra. I have no control over where the cab installs the files, I only modify the installed files.
*EDIT* I could be wrong on this one, as I don't have a device with the plugin in ROM. I would appreciate feedback on this issue and would like to have it resolved by the next release

I'm glad you put together a "ButtonFlo" package, but please open a separate thread, as I'm not going to support your package in my thread. A lot of people want that feature, so you don't need to hijack someone else's thread to get hits.

1) Currently there is no way to change the format of the plugin, including the plugin header. You can change the date format with a reg key, but you cannot eliminate it completely, at least not currently.

2) Once again, currently we cannot change the data being displayed by the plugin, only the image files it uses for BG, clock, and all icons.

3) I myself have not found a way without using a program to do it, but I have not tried this myself. Possibly someone else could answer this one?

After i've installed the plugin customizer the whole system got slow...opening /Windows takes a lot of time, the Touch Cube lacks, TSKMgr is very slow...
I think (but I'm not really sure)the origin HTC Home plugin does not store any files in Windows EXCEPT the HH_Weather....XML
One solution could be to include the customizer into the ROMS containing the HTC Home Plugin.
Although i use this program and i think its great work.

It's called PSW Metrix 1.1. There's 2.0 beta version there, but it doesn't fit all 4 status bars on one line, it wraps the brightness setting down to the next line (really annoying).

Sorry to hijack the thread but: Thanks emunutz for pointing out the new Metrix beta version.

Btw, you can make the 4 status bar to fit one line by resizing the indicators. Drag the place holder to shorten the bars. Tried on O2 Exec (Universal) with VGA screen & it works! Only bug is settings don't reflect automatically. You need to go to start-> settings->today->menu items change something & exit to refresh screen to apply changes.

That's a known issue with the Home Plug-in in general. Add another e-mail account and it'll quit. :)

I have this plug in (.07) installed over the top of the one included in my rom (Apache). I have tried redirecting the IP to your server, adding my location manually and the SDKCerts workaround. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. I tried your zip out and I was able to pull the weather. How are you connecting, via wifi, activesync, or phone's data connection? I had a problem getting weather with the phone data connection until I did a soft reset, then tried it over my wifi. After that, I've been able to retrieve it no problem.

One thing you could possibly try is to use an alternate DNS server of the connection you are using to retrieve the weather. You could try using the OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com/) servers and see if that helps get around a possible issue with your provider.

I am new here and to Sprint and just bought the Mogul. I am pleased with the phone how it was sold however after looking at some of you guys homescreens, I too would like to customize mine.
Only problem is that I just came over from Helio and dont have the slightest clue to how this is done.

It wouldn't "freak out" but I do not think the multiple launcher tabs is possible without some DLL hacking, which the customizer does not do. Currently, if you were to enable the same tab twice, you'd get the same launcher icons on both tabs.

i have tryed the lite cab, with an active internet connection via wifi, and i get the error "Server Not Found, please chack data connection try again"

am just about to try full version

funny thing is i can brows IE with my WIFI so it does work!!

Just fixed it. You can either uninstall/install new version or you can copy the patched script into your install dir.

Sounds like you have your today plugin unlocked. This seems to be a side effect of unlocking it. The only way I know of "fixing" it is to re-enable locking so the scroll bar doesn't show over the home plugin, but this will make your other plugins almost inaccessible (if you have tray icons) in landscape mode.

There are two ways to do it. If you are handy with the registry, you can add these entries to any of the laucher keys (0-8), example 0 (first launcher key):

HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Launcher\0
DWORD: Type = 1
STRING: Path = "\Windows\CommManager.exe"

---OR---

You can create a shortcut to \Windows\CommManager.exe in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and you will be able to select it from the launcher menu.

To use the app, extract the zip file anywhere on your device (main memory, storage card) and run the homecust.exe. The program is menu driven and pretty straightforward.

I honestly don't know why it's not working for you. That's the cab I link to because I know it works on the Apache and Treo 700wx, both WM5 devices. Maybe you could check around the Prophet forum for a compatible version?

The customizer must be detecting the wrong directory for copying files. Which plugin are you using and which directory does it install to? The customizer first checks for the "existence" of the \HTCHome directory, so if your plugin installs to \Windows, the customizer is copying the files to the wrong directory. I am using the B+B 4.0 Touchflo ROM, and it seems you are right - there is a HTCHome directory, but there is also a truckload of HTCHome files right there in the Windows directory. It won't let me delete the Windows files, so now I have to figure out how to get the plugin to load from the HTCHome directory and I think that will fix the problem. IF I can figure that out . . . . .

Brilliance emunutz! After reading your post I remembered that I had retrofitted the JUVS Color Tab variant after the ROM. Uninstalled it, deleted the HTCHome directory, soft reset and it all works a treat.

I'm guessing the reason the error occured is because your path to the Programs folder might be different than what the customizer is looking for, due to the different region of your WM6. If you really need to create a shortcut, you should be able to through File Explorer.

If you installed from the cab, then you already have the shortcut (once again, not sure due to region). The only reason it was left in is because I had released a v0.8 zip package (no installer) and forgot to take it out with my "a" and "b" updates :(

1) Is it possible to change the direction the screen rotates from the Launcher menu. Right now it flips opposite of how it should on the mogul.

2) is there a way to create/substitute the default program icons in the launcher. The ones for opera and tom tom look especialy bad.

I now figure out that the reason for being unable to change from 3 tabs to 5 tabs is that the version of HTC home plug in my HTC Touch is only a 3 tab one. Does anyone know how to change the version to 5 or 6 tab? I tried the Kaiser 6 tab version but the screen only turned blank after installation. I have already disabled the HTC home plug in before installation.

This is a very sweet and nicely done app. Sorry to say I didn't know about it before finding it through VPG's latest ROM, but I'm glad I've got it now. Very easy to use and configure.

Thank you to everyone for the positive feedback. It means a lot to me seeing as though scripting was only a hobby of mine until I started releasing this app. Those responses really drive me to make it as easy, stable, and feature complete as possible. I've been debating whether to move the customizer out of MortScript and into C#, and based on the # of DL's and the positive respones, I'm confirming v1.0 will be a "real" application and way better than anything you've seen so far. (Got a few nice features up my sleeve!)

To address issues:

1. Screen rotation from what I understand is hard-coded into the plugin. There is a registry key I found called "SliderOutRotateAngle" or something like that, however it doesn't change this setting. If anyone has info or hacked/patched files that change this setting, I would be interested in including it in the v1.0 release when I get it finished.

2. If you change the icons in the .lnk files for your apps in \Window\Start Menu\Programs, the same icons are used on the Home plugin launcher. A quick search here got me this thread. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1385295&postcount=2) Let me know if that works for you, as I have not tested this.

The media player selection is also hard-coded into the plugin. I have not seen a way to use any other MP other than those two. I believe HTC put in some specific hooks to these apps to make the Home controls work, making it an adventure in hacking to even TRY to make another player work. If anyone has any better/more complete info, feel free to correct me on this one.

Anyway, I don't think anyone answered you because that's a basic question that a quick search could find you the answer to. Personally when I make them, I use ThemeGenCE and it works fine for WM5/WM6. Just make sure you set a basehue if you want the cool glassy bars.

The installer downloads schen's 2.0 version, which might be what's causing your problems. N2A's cab is based off the 1.5 version (i think), so if N2A's cab works for you, I suggest you stick with that one for now.

I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I haven't included them because I WAS secretly planning a special little feature for v1.0, a tab to change your WM theme. Instead of a few included here and there, I'd rather build up a nice collection w/screenshots to include in the app and in the online repo all at once for the release. It's more of a "WHOA!" factor to people :D

It's up to you if you would like to send them now or later (or not at all if you're upset about it), but they will be included when that feature is available to everyone through the app.

Did you mean all the folders for the appearances are in \HTCHome?

The \HTCHome folder on the device is where the plugin stores it's graphics files, so when you set a clock, it copies the files from the <HHC Path>\FILES\clock\<Appearance Name> into the \HTCHome folder. You should NOT remove the files in \HTCHome.

If you installed the customizer to your SC, then all the sets should be in their respective folder in <HHC Path>\FILES. If there are any sets in those folder you don't want, you can delete those and they will disappear from the selection list.

Sorry for the generic answer, but I would need more detail to fully diagnose the issue if there is one.

Thanks for the explanation, Emunutz, that's exactly how and where all the files are. I'm perfectly happy with storing all the extra files on my SC, and having only the ones in use being in main storage.

Two other quick questions if I may? (I realize these are probably not related to your Customizer and are more functions of the HTC Plug-in itself, but perhaps you know)

In the phone sound tab, the last choice after Normal, Silent and Vibrate is for Automatic. What does Automatic mean or do?

Also I don't seem to be getting periodic weather updates, and wondering if that is because I added my city to the database. I've set it to download weather automatically but it doesn't really seem to do that. I will see the same weather as having been last updated 5 -10 hours or so. Does weather refresh more often if you stick to the cities already coded into the database?

Never mind on the second question, I've just re-read your post #1 and see you have a fix for that. I've tried it but even though it "seems" to work and updates, the temp. shown on the accuweather site and what I'm seeing on my 8525 are different. I'll post my question to N2A.

I explain myself again. If the device turns off, when I turn on again, I always have the "HTC Home" in my screen. If I'm reading a mail, or listened to music, and the PDA turns off, when I turn on, I got "Today" screen. So I have to open again Music player, ot mail app, etc.

When you change the language through the customizer, it renames 3 files...

1. \Windows\HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml
2. <path to HTCHome.dll>\HTCHome.dll.0409.mui (Could be in \Windows or \HTCHome)
3. \Windows\HTC_HDlg.exe.0409.mui (v2.0 plugin) or \Windows\HTC HDlg.exe.0409.mui (v1.5 plugin)

By replacing the "0409" part with your language code. Could you check to see if those files were actually renamed? (It's possible they weren't if the plugin was cooked into the ROM.) If this is the case, I'll look into a more "forceful" way of changing the file names for the next version.

I explain myself again. If the device turns off, when I turn on again, I always have the "HTC Home" in my screen. If I'm reading a mail, or listened to music, and the PDA turns off, when I turn on, I got "Today" screen. So I have to open again Music player, ot mail app, etc.

When you change the language through the customizer, it renames 3 files...

1. \Windows\HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml
2. <path to HTCHome.dll>\HTCHome.dll.0409.mui (Could be in \Windows or \HTCHome)
3. \Windows\HTC_HDlg.exe.0409.mui (v2.0 plugin) or \Windows\HTC HDlg.exe.0409.mui (v1.5 plugin)

By replacing the "0409" part with your language code. Could you check to see if those files were actually renamed? (It's possible they weren't if the plugin was cooked into the ROM.) If this is the case, I'll look into a more "forceful" way of changing the file names for the next version.

They are not renamed. But what does it do? When its renamed to my language code, does it directly change language then? Or does it replace files too?

In a previous version, I was able to press and hold on one of my "favorite people" and it would got to their contact page and I could select to email them instead of call them.

Is that no longer an option in the new version?

I'll have to look into your issue a little further (unless you already are). I know of a couple people this worked for, however there must be something preventing those files from being renamed. Is the Home plugin in the ROM on your device?

I wonder if we're talking about the same function. The plugin that your customizer installed for me did the following: after selecting the contact, a screen popped up that gave me an option to choose between cell, work, home, etc. So when I click on that person later, it dials the person on the number I selected. If I touch and hold the button until the circle goes around, the main page for that contact pops up, disappears and then nothing else happens. I like the choice of default number. that's a cool addition.

But I also like to be able to send an email from that screen. In the version I downloaded from http://rapidshare.com/files/46952696/HomePluginWM6.zip.html it allows me to do that by holding the button until the contact page pops up and then I can choose the phone number or email, etc. But I can't choose the default phone that it calls after a simple click. I think I like being able to email better, so I'll stick with that version.

I have not seen or heard of this behavior with the plugin or the customizer. Is it possible it's something else is causing your device to wake up?

If you couldn't select the default phone number to call, the version you were using is 1.5. I'm using the 2.0 version and there is an option to email that contact if you have an address set up for them. So either version of the plugin should accomplish what you would like to do.

This issue has been addressed before. The version on the Touch is 3-tab only. You will need to somehow use one of the modified versions in order to get the 6 tabs. You might want to check the Elf forum for some info because I don't have one of those devices to test with.

You cannot make the plugin smaller. If you were looking at the screenshot from aga_freesky, this is misleading. His device is VGA which compresses and distorts the QVGA plugin.

The soft says the different elements are installed correctly but when the plugin restarts, there's no changes ....

I just downloaded the customiser on my HTC Elf, and its working fine, except for 1 Issue. I selected Custom Database, and added cities to it. However when I click on the Plugin, it opens a box for selecting a new city, but there is nothin appearing in it.The same holds good when I selct default Database too. I am having to manually enter the location code through the actual customiser screen, everytime I need to change a city..Need help on this..Thanks

So I am having the same issue with the contacts page. What you are saying is, if you make a change in the customzer, the page will 'break' but if you rerun the customizer and simply exit, the problem will be resolved?

i downloaded both of the new iphone icons from the new appearances however the regular iphone icons arent what is on the previews page...the tilted iphone icons are right but the regular ones aren't...

also, i have downloaded the audio manager and gone into the customizer and put it as my music program but when i click on the tab in the today screen it says launch music player...is it supposed to play right from the today screen?

and one other thing i noticed, when i click on the phone settings where you can change the phone to silent, vibrate, etc. and it shows you're ringtone...when i click on it it takes me to the settings of my phone but i cannot change the ringtone, or type of ring i want from there...

It does sound like the same issue. The version in ROM doesn't support the tab change setting. Once again I can't be certain as I don't have a device with the plugin in ROM to test with, so if this an issue, I'll need some info on working around that issue. For now I guess you could disable the ROM version and install a cab version and see if that works for you, it will just take up some extra space on your device.

I have not experienced this issue and it doesn't sound like it's the customizer's fault. I have experienced "weirdness" with X-button when it's set to close on click instead of click-and-hold. Things like system themes not being applied and documents not being save properly, so that sounds like the issue. I'm guessing because the customizer disables and re-enables the plugin, that clears up the it up for you though.

I haven't been able to update the screenshot on the iPhone set yet, but I will try to get to that tonight. I replaced them because the new version has bigger icons that the previous.

With the music player tab, yes you have to launch the music player first (not sure if you HAVE to use the tab to do it, but I always do) then you can navigate with the controls on the tab.

The ringtone -> phone settings link in the profile tab I believe is a known issue with v1.5 of the Home plugin. If you're on WM6, use the v2.0 that the customizer will download for you, or you can get in the Hermes Mobile 6 forum and that will be resolved. If you're on WM5, I don't think they got v2.0 working yet, but I'm sure it will be soon.

I'm getting a lot questions coming in that are not about the HTC Home Customizer. Most of them are about the HTC Home Plugin or one of the 1000's (not literally) of compilations of it that are floating around or cooked into ROMs, which my customizer modifies. I did not create/compile/hack/crack/<fill in the blank> the HTC Home Plugin. So from here on, can we keep this forum open for support questions about the HTC Home Customizer? If my customizer somehow screws up your device, I'll be more than happy to help you fix it up. :D

I would like to point out that in the first post, it specifically states that all options of the customizer are only guaranteed to work with the provided (downloadable) cab versions of the Home Plugin. If you are not using one of these versions, please open/search a topic in your device's forum or go to the source post of the plugin/ROM to get your issue resolved. Once resolved you are more than welcome to post your resolution here and I will include the fix in the next release if humanly possible.

This isn't meant to sound :mad:, I just believe this topic is getting difficult to navigate and most of these questions either have been covered before in another topic or could be answered more completely by asking other users with similar devices/software.

I was able to replicate the problem again by simply adding a contact to the tab. after launching the customizer and exiting, it was fine. I agree, i think it's a problem with the home plug in and not the customizer.

Hey emunutz, my hat is off to you for the GREAT job on the customizer! It works as it should on my Tytn Hermes200 Black X rom. I love this as it makes life so nice to switch and customize the look at the flick of a finger now:D

This is becoming the ultimate Home plug with things like this and the extra icons, clocks, and stuff, etc...

I was using it on my 8525 with WM5, with no issues. This evening, I upgraded to the "official" AT&T WM6 ROM, and the WM6 version of HTC Home. The only thing I see that's not working for me is that I always get 6 tabs, regardless what I tell the Customizer. (I only want 5 tabs since I have no need for the music tab.)

Any idea how I can fix this?

Using a program like Pocket Mechanic, you can transfer all the files from the Customizer in your main memory to the storage card, and that will reduce most of the bulk and weight of the program. At very least, you will appear a lot slimmer. However, the black plastic case on the Blackjack does a somewhat better job of creating a slimmer shillouette if this continues to be a problem, therefore you might want to change phones.

The additional memory requirements of keeping all those items on the Today screen, (not to mention if you choose to utilize a more graphically intensive font for the clock) do inevitably impact the processor and will result in greater battery use and consequently heat generation. There is no fix for this.

I believe that all of this has been covered quite extensively before in the Wiki.

A very cool way of people adding and finding new background screens with an easy way to load them for everyone:D

Ahh.. I think that Black would be the base install color(black if you can call it a color) untill you choose another colored icon set with the customizer or manualy copy in your own set to the HTC Home folder. If that is what you meant.

Only thing I can think of is that you had a previous version of the Home plugin installed to \HTCHome, and the new install is in \Windows. The customizer checks for the existance of the \HTCHome directory first. So if this folder exists, all your changes are being put in there instead of \Windows.

To resolve this (if this is the problem), just delete \HTCHome then run the customizer again.

If this is not the case, PM me and I'll help you work it out.

I think the best for you would be to start over and uninstall HTC Home in your remove programs under settings\system and then Start new with the directions in the first post using those cabs that are provided! (put them on your SD card and run from there)

If you still have problems and the remove programs does not work, you will most likely do best by HARD RESETTING your phone to start with a clean OS.

first of all i want to thank you for the great work but i would appreciate it more if it would work 100%

i have the following problems:

1. in your first post you said its online an upgrade for 0.8 users, where can i get this file?

2. i have installed the 0.8b without any installing of 0.8 or 0.8a before and i can not use the contacts of the favourite people (which you named favorite people ^^)

3. also the launcher is not working when its not in the 5th place

4 also the music player only worked for the first time. other times i modified the home plugin with your customizer the media player plugin only shows the message (clik here to open player). first time the plugin showed the title of the song and everything else .....

please help me out cause this is so nice when it will work 100%

I've read this thread over and over (sigh) but can't find a solution for me prob :-)

I have a Touch with WM6, installed the program, ran it, changed settings (specially number of tabs) all went well, only: when the home plugin reloads nothing has changed. When i change the clock appearance it still looks the same. I am not getting any errors so ... I checked for a separate HTCHome folder but there wasn't any so... any ideas (sorry if i missed the solution somewhere in this vast thread :-))

EDIT: Whoaw... this thread is so good that even posting on it solves some probs. So: the clock and icon changing works now. So the only thing not working is the tabs part. The program does tell me there are 6 tabs... even after screaming to it there aren't... stubborn little rascal ...
