Why?
I am not too sure it will fit though as certain corners and angles are different on the O2 device so I guess you could try BUT you might brick the unit and it might not fit - if you wanted a HTC P3300 why did you buy an O2 - Mike

The answer is simple... My housing is in bad condition and I need new one. The only one I found is that one...

I was led to believe that the USB/Multi-plug connecton was in a different position on the Orbit, more to the center than the P3300/Dopod but this photo suggests not.

Well,

The thing is:

The phones are all the same!! HTC P3300, Dopod, MDA Compact III and what-so-ever.
They all come from the same factory.

Yes, but the O2 Orbit is in a different case.

Actually the Orbit IS different - the USB plug is in a different position to the other versions - 3 or 4 mm difference - which is bloody huge when your trying to force a new case on or whack it into a car holder :-)

goblinIT,

To save you getting the hammer out to fit this housing why not go here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130141209160&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:uk

I totally believe you.
however the photograph up here suggests it is exacty the same.
I've got a t-mobile MDA compact III and cracked the casing (and screen) and ordered a new one at cnn.cn (casing plus screen) and it worked perfectly.

if you only battered the top or the back part of your phone, the middle part is the one with the usb connector, this might be ok for you to only replace the front or back.

opening your phone:
remove batt cover
remove battery
put something flat in the top of your phone between the front and the top cover. this budges and then take of the top/back part
now you can see all screws (get the right screwdriver!!!) - remove these
remove the back/ middle plate starting at the bottom. top part is a little hustle.
release the connector coming from the front - this is the screen
remove the middle part - there is some adhesive tape between the top and middle plate - start at the bottom and go to the top. the top is locked behind the front so turn the middle part from bottom up like it's joined at the top - then you can remove it.

do not forget to
set over the microphone rubber (bottom)
the vibrate part (front right bottom)
the speaker
the loudspeaker

good luck!

Anyone has the vedio manual to remove the back case of HTC p3300? appreciated.

I bought one from www.cnn.cn, can tell from the quality that is genuine. but it is a bit hard to open the top back cover, i noticed that some of the ebay store has a vcd manual on how to open it. can someone share that please?

tahnks

with my xda orbit?

Anyone can answer this question?
Yes it will fit the xda orbit, but others have just swapped the outer casing, you need to strip the whole phone, by that I mean the vib motor, rear speaker, lcd, the two pcb's etc... also you need a different stylus, the xda orbit has a pointy end when it's inserted into the phone, and the htc one is rounded like the mda compact III.

Hope this helps, PM me if you need advise on taking it apart.....
