Right. Yet we manage to not get US dollars ($), Canadian dollars ($), Australian dollars ($) (and so on and so forth) mixed up.
They're different symbols, it's not exactly rocket science!
Mind you, don't the Yanks call the hash (#) a "pound" symbol?

I'm just teasing... ;)
Doesn't it get confusing if you've got the £ pound and the # pound though?
(the Euro is easy... € looks like an E)
That said, I guess the default font for the UK pound sign looks a bit like an E... it doesn't when I draw it though :D

It's strange that the initial source on web says it's 160g. Now some new sources said it's 192g.
I found a rather new blog saying it's 160g and said it's being renamed to tytn II.

Now when the Qualcomm ban in the US seems to be coming into effect, will you US Kaiser customers be able to order from abroad for personal use or will these also be confiscated by the customs?
Edit: Maybe this doesn't affect HTC (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/08/07/qualcomm_ban_remains/):
Asian manufacturers in possession of the latest Qualcomm chips are saying they've worked around the patent problems, so should be able to ship phones to the US very soon despite the ban.

The patent in question is one that concerns about power saving features inside the Qualcomm chip. Let's hope that it won't be a battery drainer, after the patent has been "worked around".

The ban only affects phones that have not already been imported into the US. Since the phone has been imported and approved by the FCC shouldn't this mean the ban does not apply to the Kaiser? I might be wrong, but hoping I'm not.

yea i would say that the pound looks more like an E than the Euro does. atleast in computer font.

I wish you are right - but my understanding is that an approval from FCC doesn't grant you the right to import it automatically - especially it's banned by the court. FCC only regulates the air wave - i.e. tell you that it's safe to use, without interference, blah blah blah.
Most likely the Qualcomm chip won't be made in US, so it must be imported by some means. Unless HTC had already imported many such chips into the US months ago, which is again, highly unlikely for such a new chip. Not to mention that the assembly of the phone won't happen inside US as well.
I guess the only 2 possible solution for HTC is, per the article suggests, "worked around" the patent, either by disabling the feature in question, or by implement in a patent-free way (which is rather unlikely since it affects re-doing the chip design, and thus affecting the launch date with huge cost involved). The other solution is that they pay the patent royalty to Broadcom. Looks like it will come from both yours and my wallet :D

I agree that a FCC approval doesn't grant the right to import, but the way I read the ruling was to ban any phone that has not yet been imported. Since the phone had to be imported for testing and this occured prior to the ban going into affect, it should not apply to the Kaiser. I know this is a fine line but hey, if they want to stick to the letter of the law, I would think this might be a way around the ban. Another way around would be to disable the offending features in software then release a patch to reinable the features.

Another Kaiser review here ...
http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-devices/review/2007/08/10/HTC-P4550-Kaiser-Smartphone/p1
There have been quite a few different bits of info on the weight of the device ... this one states "First, it's gone on a bit of a diet, as a quick comparison of the dimensions reveals. At 110 x 58 x 18mm it's now 4mm thinner and 2.5mm shorter than its predecessor and is also 16g lighter at 160g" ...

The weight's a bit off, according to Paul's review over at Modaco. He's had a Kaiser for several weeks, and his weighs 192g with SIM and MicroSD. No way a SIM & memory card weigh 32g, no matter how much data you put on them.

Well Paul has actually weighed his I understand, Most sites have just quoted data sheets, which maybe outdated or possibly based on phone without battery.
I'd go with Paul being right, if he's wrong then it's a bonus!

Hi
Clove.co.uk has said they expect deliveries first week of September. Bringing together the various expected dates and that the FCC were asked to withhold product images, internal pictures and specifications of the Kaiser from the public until the 10 September, point to the first half of that month.
The actual day is probably decided by when the boat arrives in with the shipment :)

Phil

Well, if you know the shipping line, I can tell you when that boat will come :)
I used to work as a ship agent and I have a few friends who can get that info for me. However based on my previous experience it'll either be Hapag Lloyd, NYK or Wan Hai. Yea... I know a lot of useless crap :)

Well Italian Relase date is 17th September and EU version (English) is 5th September so i found...
I was asked form expensys wich version i wanna buy, They told me both version will be aviable at the same time but it wasn´t right as i suppose...
I think EU version it more intresting becuase everytime HTC relase an upgrade it`s arrive faster on EU and then lately on DE IT and so on...
I cancell my order waiting the WONDER HTC SHIFT...
Now i am using (well it is back to Nokia Factory for Hardware fault) E90 and i really disapponit with this device... Symbian is a esaier way to go into smartphone market but you can find just 1/100 of all programm you find for Windows Mobile...
Great point of the E90 it the woder Dispaly... You can see an entire web page and not just a small part, like on a normal PC...
Si i really don`t know Guys... Keep my E90, order a new Kaiser or waiting a SHIFT?!?! This is the question!!!
