Call me crazy, but I decided to install the new Yahoo Go! 2.0 (beta) on my device (just to see if it is as crappy as the old version). The Yahoo website recognized that I was running WM6 ... nice ... I have (for those who care) Sleuth 3.1 installed at the moment.

So, far, it is running nicely. I like getting my yahoo mail on my 8525 without having to sign up for any special yahoo plan. Time will tell whether there are memory leaks.

For those in the United States, you can download from http://us.get.go.yahoo.com (http://us.get.go.yahoo.com) on your PDA ... or if you prefer, the cab file I downloaded is below. [there presumably is another link for other countries]

For others who try this out, we can use this thread to compare notes.

You know, the "push" side of things doesn't seem to be working for my Yahoo Mail... it says in settings it has it, but it's not pushing anything...

i know shame about the push
just out of interest which do people prefer, live search or yahoo go?
they're both very similar

Live Search doesn't have Maps.. ;) .. that's what I like about Yahoo Go! .. that and it seems to be device specific.

I wish there was some way to select and delete multiple emails .. anyone figure that out? Or even just to scroll through emails easily. The mail interface, in general, seems to suck.

same thing i said... no messenger... yahoo sucks ass. i think charging for im is dispicable. once you've got a net plan it should be free. i dont care if they put ads on it. they're so greedy they make deals with the carriers to milk us each message. and that forces you to buy a text plan.

thats why google will always be ahead of yahoo. google understands that you can make just as much, if not more money in ads and give away products free as if you would try to milk customers.

in conclusion: yahoo go with no messenger.... they lost!

on the brighter side, its just beta so maybe the official version will have it.

i love the go gui. yet the live gui is more to the point and simplistic, and that can be to the user's advantage.

Yeah, the Go GUI is totally sweet actually. Very easy to navigate. Now, I gotta convince my buddies at google to make something like this.....<wink>

Wrong. I don't know what you're talking about because Live Search has both Road and Aerial maps...

I've been playing with the new Go 2.0 today... mostly unimpressed. It runs slow and I've had to re install it once already.

The only cool thing I've found about it so far is the direct Flickr uploading ability. That is cool, everything else is sub-par.

Installed the new Go 2.0 beta today with no problems after reading this thread. I'll be playing with it the next few days. So far the GUI looks nice, but runs slow on my Edge connection.

It works pretty nice as an RSS Reader as well. One thing I really liked about the old Yahoo Go, is as soon as you took a picture, it would upload it to your yahoo photos if you wanted it to. Now with the Flikr deal, it doesn't do that... You have to go into the GUI and pick pictures to upload. Now you can manage the pictures better though... I have mixed feelings about that one.

Why can't I get Yahoo Go to work? My connection is set to Media net. I can't get Yahoo Go to connect, Google Maps to connect, Live Search to connect. Before I upgraded to WM6 I could get 3rd party apps to run fine.

I tried switching to my isp instead but when I switch to it, I get a message that 'the answering modem has disconnected....'

Can anyone help me?

If you have not put in your operator settings in, it will not connect because the settings are blank.

Is a memory sucker too.

Prior to install would have 18-19mb of RAM avail.

After install was down to 12-14mb.

Now after uninstall back to normal.

With most email going through my exchange server and google maps and live-search, I see no need for more bloatware.

Oh well.

I had been waiting for this software for a while now. I can't believe they didn't include IM!

After using this, I've decided to dump this memory hog. It seems geared for a smart phone. I prefer using MyYahoo! link on PIE (one column view)!

Anyone else who used Yahoo GO 1x think this is a major step backwards? The whole thing is web based now. What happened to the integration with the phone itself? Where the heck is the calendar sync? Please tell me the official version will have calendar sync and IM....or at least tell me that GO 1x will still be available cause this thing is kinda pathetic. Just my .02:(

I tried it today also.

The mobile flickr upload is indeed cool, but Picasaweb (which I use) will surely have an answer to this in a forthcoming version. They just released a mobile album browsing page.

picasa kicks flickr's ass. and they most definitely will respond. if you havent tried the mobile version, here is the link http://picasaweb.google.com/m

personally i think it would be easier for them to have a subdomain. ie: m.picasaweb.com. but what do i know.

the calender sync comes up on its own. it asks you if you want to sync with yahoo calender. its strange though because it took a while to ask me that. oh well...

i think you guys need to give it a chance though. its actually not that bad. the only think i hate is the fact that they took away the yahoo mail from mobile outlook. it should be our choice. i like checking my mail from outlook.

I agree -- especially because now I cannot select and delete multiple messages at once

That's not the thing that bothers me the most. 1st, as I said earlier, push is nonfunctional. 2nd, now I can't see how many unread e-mails I have by looking at the Today screen. Even 3 days ago when I reverted to Yahoo Go 1.x (thank GOD I still had the setup file!) I received an e-mail saying how Yahoo Go 1.x would be disconnected, hence forcing us to use the new Yahoo Go 2.0

AFAIK menu has command Mark Email and you can mark emails and then for example delete them all, but you should switch to fullscreen widget view to do this.

I downloaded this app today and will give it a try in the next few days.

But as far as integration with third party services is concerned. Shozu (http://www.shozu.com/portal/)is the best by far. It integrates your phone with YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, BBC and a host of other services.

Its cute...runs slow, but still pretty cool. I'd rather use a stand alone RSS Reader for news, and feeds though.

I wish there was a way I can manage my Yahoo Fantasy leagues. (atleast v.1 gave you a link to the page)

I also notice that when I close it out, my Wisbar Desktop is disabled and I end up soft reseting. :(

Anyone else have that problem?

Really?? That is great news to me. I uninstalled it days ago due to this and have been looking for an alternative. I will now reinstall and wait I guess. Funny thing though, I had it installed for days and it only asked me if I wanted to sync my contacts. How long did you have to wait for calendar to pop up? I can't believe that if calendar is able to sync, there is not a manual option.

I tried it quite a while ago before it was released. Don't ask, search and you would have found.

Anyway, I found the #$$#%#@@$# to be bloated as hell. Also, a resource hog.
Although the push mail and all that worked fine, I personally thought it was using too much memory for what it did. At times, the usage could be as high as 10megs! So the thing lasted about two days before I as removed it.

It is the most cumbersome software i've used to search.

Live search is probably the best, and google maps. I can't believe yahoo would come out with this type of program.

I expected yahoo to have done their research...

I mean if there are hidden functions that i'm not aware of, please do let me know b/c it's just too big and slow for me to use.

doing a search and looking up my email is like pulling teeth.

I'd rather open up my PIE and go to yahoo.com it's faster.. :)
