I actually want to change the bands which are offered under that tab. I want to put in GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850) which isn't a choice.

What am I doing wrong?
I have an exmpty 2GB miniSD card..
Only has a folder called WMDRM and the CHEEIMG.nbh file
Pressed the PTT button and the reset button while plugged into a power supply.
It only restarts and then that's it...
Have I missed a step? Please help!
Should I move the CHEEIMG.nbh file in the WMDRM folder? or leave it in the root folder?

you don't need it in the folder. just copy it to your minisd card then try again.

I am so sorry for a dumb question, how do I do that? I am assuming I cant do it while the card is in the phone? It will need to be connected to a card reader for me to do this?

mate you'll need to take out the card, insert it into your computer/laptop and format the card to FAT32 first. after that copy and paste the rom file onto it, insert it back into your Treo then follow the instructions.
worked fine for me after reformatting

Built-in. It's essentially invisible until you add a Hotmail mail account. I've found it to be mildly unstable.

I've upgraded the phone and it is great. I've seen two problems. When checking Hotmail, I can't get the mail application to download any mail that's not within the Inbox. So all my failed mail never comes down. In instant messaging, I can login, but none of my contacts are there, so I obviously can't login. All this worked fine before the upgrade. Any ideas?

I had tried the rom on my cingular 750. I got totally confused. Everything works well but I just found i could not receive any call upon my update to wm6. Anyone call me could hear nothing but the busy tone and my mobile doesnt have any ring or notification, just a normal today standby screen on it. Other functions, such as GPRS, MMS, PUSHMAIL AND INCOMING CALLS, are all work perfectly. Is there anyone can help me.

Please visit this link to download the Treo™ Recovery tool. NOTE: The page which the link refers to also contains the Treo 750v Updater 1.16 for Vodafone Customers. You SHOULD NOT use the Treo 750v Updater 1.16 for Vodafone Customers as this will downgrade your operating system to Windows Mobile 5.

The Treo™ Recovery Tool will change the version of the GSM Radio firmware.

For those still needing the WM6 ROM, I just created a torrent for the rom.
The name is as follows:
"Treo750-WM6-ATT-ROM"
Tracker I posted it to:

Go to this site, do a search on treo750 and you will find the torrent.
Hope this helps.

thank Asukal he made the tools :) if you want to see the ExtROM again I guess you can re-apply it. Haven't tried it myself though.
I use the ExtRom to install all the applications I had previously installed on my SD. You now have an additional 8mb of memory onthe device so why not use it to get the best performance from your apps? Overall device performance still much snappier than with whatever ATT stuff was being installed from there (I deleted everything that was in there). No issues with auto-config of phone network settings. Everything working as expected.
For folks still having trouble installing the ROM, please search for my earlier posts for info on how to format SD to fat32.
Again for folks still having problems installing the ROM, remember when reading threads in forums that the info has most likely already been provided in previous posts, don't be afraid to use the search feature. It's proper etiquette as well.
Cheers

The ROM update installed fine for me, but what I'm having trouble with are two things:
One, I applied the two .cab files to see and supposedly edit the extended ROM, and it shows up as a separate drive in the explorer tree with Resco Explorer, but any changes I make to it (i.e., deleting the partition folder there) don't seem to stick. After a soft reset the folder comes right back. I've tried everything, including using Total Commander, but I can't delete anything out of the folder.
Two, seeing as I can't delete anything out of it, I want to at least restore it to its hidden state, though I'd much prefer to be able to edit it and delete the AT&T stuff inside.
Can anyone help me on this? I've been searching and searching but I can't find anything that can help me through this problem.
Any help is much appreciated.

That did the trick! Thanks so much for your help! :)
My only guess is that something that I had installed was preventing the tools from working properly. Now I've gotten rid of all that AT&T crap and have the extra space, and my GPRS settings were automatically customized for me.
It'll be a royal pain, but I don't want to take the chance of restoring a backup I made so I'm off to reinstall everything from scratch; going to be a looong night! :D

Folks really must try the Australian ROM, very snappy and installs rather clean by default. I still mounted the EXTrom and deleted contents to gain extra app space. Only a few hours old, but so far so good. Go to forum root and look for the thread about it to get more info. Need to be quick as ATT is watching and the links to rom are being deleted very quickly.

One more post for the "so far so good" file. Following the instructions posted here I just upgraded my unlockeded UK Voda 750 to WM6 without a hitch. Where's that somke coming from? ;-)
For anyone needing to format their SD card FAT32 (an apparent requirement before attempting upgrade) Tucows has a free-to-try program called Flash Format (http://www.tucows.com/preview/164064) which worked a treat.
Good luck all.

This was a painless flawless upgrade that makes my Treo 750 feel like I hoped it would when I got it last winter. It is almost as if Palm had WM6 in mind when they designed it. This ROM plus the audio patch and those nagging little annoyances from WM5 are gone (weird sound issues, alarms going off days after they were supposed to).
The best part - the cheap generic Patriot 2GB MiniSD card I got now is recognized even when the phone goes to sleep. No more having to put it in and out when I want to use it.
THAT alone is worth the price of admission!

However; I first setup hotmail, then exchange. The contacts that synced are the hotmail ones. How can I change this to show the Exchange one's. All options (contacts, mail, etc) are checked. How do I not sync my hotmail contacts? Also my exchange inbox only downloads 2 out of 7 messages, as well as the folders I have created, it just downloads a few of the messages.

On my old IPaq 3955 PDA running Windows CE 3.0.----- I could just push one button (like the PTT on treo 750) and hold it while I record my voice. The recording is going into the "notes" folder but it's activating the record button at the same time. It would do this even if the unit was off. I found this to be very handy while driving for recording ideas or reminders or getting that phone number from an advertisement on your local radio station. On my Treo 750 (WM5), I tried to re-assigned the button, however the button only gets me to the "notes" program, I still have to select the record and stop buttons with the stylus.
OK, so my question is this; Is this function already available on the new WM6 ROM, or is it something one of you "experts" could create??? (I am definately not qualified).
Sorry for the long winded post and thanks to everybody for all the great info on this forum.

No question - I am very new at the PDA rom flash process. I followed the instructions to install this ROM, but when I hold the PTT and press the PIN reset, it goes to the "4" solid color bars, but says "Serial" across the bottom of the display, and just sits there.
I've repeated it several times, with the same result. What am I missing here? Thanks for the help.

Kortez, thanks a lot for the link. I went with "Vito AudioNotes". The Treo 750 needs to be "on" first, but other than that it seems to function pretty well. You need to format your MINI-SD card as FAT32 and then install the file onto the card and then do the upgrade.

@Asukal: Arigatou gozaimasu [I hope that's correct] anyway big XIE XIE and THANK YOU!!! Here's what I did.
Ran 1_CHEE_MountExtROM.CAB
Soft Reset x1
Ran 2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab
Soft Reset x1
Used Resco Explorer to Delete the Files inside ExtendedROM\Partition
Soft Reset x1
Checked ExtendedROM\Partition [files were gone]
Hard Reset x1
Got a Vanilla Treo :) = 0 AT&T Stuff! and got more Storage space too! 57.32Mb free after HR.

Off to install my apps and play :) Again thanks Asukal you da man!
Is there a way to restore from Sprite Backup after the hard reset in the above procedure, in order to avoid re-install and re-configure again?
After upgrading to WM6 I spent over 4 hours re-installing and re-configuring/customizing all my apps, and I really want to avoid doing it all again...
thanks...

I just upgraded my Treo 750 (Cingular Branded / Unlocked / Using the old AT&T Blue sim / Old Charter Unlimited Minute Plan) ..
Everything works perfectly EXCEPT all incoming calls are using the roaming ringtone and when I send and receiving email I get a warning message telling me that I am roaming.
It appears that my phone thinks it is roaming when it is not.
I've read posts about others having similar problems, but with no solution.
I've gone through all the posts, then the registry and could not find a solution on how to fix this problem. I need to somehow tell the phone that it is not roaming or turn off/remove the roaming options all together.
This was not an issue with WM5 at all.
Other than that, I love wm6, but this is a huge issue that is causing great headaches!
Please help find a solution!

Roaming = no joy. Live with it, WM6 sucks in this build. The official AT&T release .. I would think, will fix it.

Guys, I apologize for the noob question, but Im rather new to palms and windows mobile, so maybe someone can tell me what's wrong with my installation.
1)Dowloaded the file and put it on my 1GB card.
2)Inserted the card into treo 750 (ATT version)
3)Plugged Treo 750 into power (house charger)
4) Did a bootloader reset by holding the media key and pushing the reset pin.
Now, here is the problem...
On the tricolor screen, I see...
Palm Tr
IPL-0.20
Palm Tr
SPL-0.21.0000
On the white bottom portion of the screen, the word serial appears. I have left it like this for over 10 minutes and no change or anything. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for all the help!

Alright, I have been using the WM6 ROM on my ATT phone for a couple of weeks and this thing is the Bs and Es, but I want more. I have been using my unlocked at&t treo 750 (WM5) with t-mobile and the network icon has always had a "G" icon. After I flashed it with the WM6 ROM all went well, but I noticed that the network icon immediately became an "E" instead of "G"
What does this mean? Is it a good or bad thing? Also, do I still have to apply the
Treo750HSDPAhackV2.cab and the treo750audiopatch-att.ppc.cab patches?
Thanks :)

The E just means that you have EDGE availability as opposed to GPRS (for data communication).

Hi All,
I need some advice. Vodafone Australia now has it's WM6 version out and I'd like to upgrade to WM6 using the method above.
However, when I go to download the software I am required to put in my serial number which isn't a Vodafone serial number and therefore I'm unable to download.
Is there a work around for this? How have other people been able to download the software without having a serial number?

I have upgraded to the WM6 AT&T ROM as well and the first thing I noticed was it is FAAAASSSST! Wow...what a difference. All of my apps work, and I did have to get a new product code for TomTom6. 3G works fine (HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS).
My only issue is with Bluetooth...it tends to get lost and not provide audio (BT car kit or BT earpiece) or loses the GPS receiver. After turning off/on Bluetooth it resumes working...interesting...
Another Bluetooth issue is with using the "External GPS" to manage my GPS device. If this is enabled I cannot use my BT ear piece or BT car kit when using the GPS receiver.
Anyone else seen these issues?

Not sure if this is at issue but did you try to disable the cingular proxy settings?
Disable ATT Proxy
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
The default setting (that uses the proxy) and the setting sets the value to is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000
The DisableCingularProxy.cab file changes it to:

According to what I was told by ATT and Palm on Oct 12th, is that they have not officially given a release date as the ROM is not ready for distribution, and that any previous date given was pure speculation on the part of eager customer service reps they also apologized for the misinformation.
As a frustrated ATT customer I have been bugging them with daily phone calls and emails for a little over a month for when WM6 will be released, every time I speak with ATT or Palm I either get a different date i.e. the 9th, 12th, 15, 23rd, etc... Anyway I would not expect anything to be released today or anytime soon. :(

I was also waiting for the "Official" AT&T release but when my phone did not allow me to answers calls and did not let me place calls again during the work day I had had enough. The customer reps at Palm had told me WM6 was coming “Soon” two weeks ago, and I was tired of waiting for my email Brick to be upgraded. It was either upgrade my Treo or smash the thing to smithereens and be done with it. I spend about 20 minutes preparing for the upgrade, picked up an inexpensive 1GB mini SD card and followed the instructions. The result was an extremely versatile and reliable phone device. I have marveled at how all of the features of the phone now work perfectly and flawlessly. I can’t believe AT&T has waited so long to release a fix for a really bug riddled phone that would constantly lock up and not even allow dialing when needed, without a reboot. What if I needed to dial an emergency number when the phone locked up, I would have to wait for a reboot? I think not. Anyway don’t hesitate to upgrade.

Try searching for the ATT internet settings. You can create a new entry in the connections. Included with these settings should be the sms number as well as the mms settings.

My 750 has greatly improved battery life with WM6 and the AT&T addon software removed. I no longer have to charge it every day.
No bugs yet, everything is snappier (though it's certainly not night and day).
Charging while tethered is a welcome enhancement too.

No, that's not it - I don't tether it at all during the day, I'm out and about and I sync up to my desktop relatively rarely.
What I'm seeing is that I can now use the phone for 2 days without recharging if I need to. With WM5 the battery would be at around 30% at the end of every day - since upgrading the battery has been over 60% at the end of the day.

And why wouldn't this upgrade work on a 700wx, aren't they practically the same device?

For those who absolutely cannot load WM6 from their FAT32 miniSD card, try this:
When formatting the SD card, the Allocation unit size was set to 4096 bytes. I finally got my WM6 to load when I changed it to Default allocation size.
After that, the flash worked great, the Update Success message displayed, I rebooted, and the WM6 splashscreen displayed.
That was the magic bullet for me. hth.

I think it may possibly have to do with the fact that my computer is windows vista.
I'll take Phy's advice and changing the allocation size.

You might also want to consider formatting the card using Resco Explorer. That's how I did it. Resco Explorer installs on your Treo and it's got a 14 day trial license.

I did the upgrade last night and everything went well except the screen refreshes seem slower at times and the ringers are not as loud at top volume. Did anyone else experience these problems?

Did the upgrade last night and worked great. Had to format the 2gb SD for FAT32 using resco explorer since I was getting the serial error. Took about 10 minutes to load the new ROM, which does list as TREO750-1.13-ATT. I think SecureROM mentions it should be 1.25, but everything works. Screens are much faster and clean. Getting almost 900k d/l on dslreports and the exchange email works flawlessly.
MSN mobile is missing (don't use it)
U can change languages in regional settings (didn't get this option on load)
Thanks to all that posted on this topic. Good luck to all that give it a go.

So I finally got tired of listening to Palm say very soon, for 6 months. I have downloaded adn succesfully installed the ROM. Now for the noob question. Is there any advantage to keeping or deleting the EXTROM Folder. I have installed and done it both ways, and I actually like using some of the features in the EXTROM, but not keen on the los of 9MB of storage, when storage on the 750 is slim to start with. Anyone offer a piece of advice?

If you like having the provider software (aka bloat) loaded on hard reset, then the compromise would be to mount the ER and leave the data in tact. You can still utilize the left over space for personal use. Should leave you with about 4-5mb to play with. Some folks have extracted that software into separate CAB files; do a search and you may just find the software you want, then you can get rid of the provider stuff in the ER and have the whole 8.5mb at your disposal.

Above works for email.
Roaming = no joy. Live with it, WM6 sucks in this build. The official AT&T release .. I would think, will fix it.
I have seen a few posts about the roaming icon.. Is it actually "roaming", or just ms being stupid and displaying the icon?

Not having an issue with the roaming bug, upgrade was surprisingly simple! Seems about the same, maybe a little faster in some areas, but overall it looks nicer.

US AT&T Treo 750
Copied the cheeimg.nbh file to SD card. Performed hard reset as directed (left button and pin reset).
When the screen comes back, I get red bar, green bar, blue bar, white bar, with this text on screen:
Palm Tr
IPL-0.20
Palm Tr
SPL-0.21.0000
and then the word 'Serial'
Any ideas what the hell is going on?

For any number of reasons, the ROM image isn't being found on your memcard. It could be corrupt.
Format the card fat32, and copy the cheeimg file over to it again. If you still have a problem, download the ROM image again and give another go.

You can't perform a hard reset if you've got a mini SD card inside with a cheeimg.nbh file on it. If you want to hard reset your treo, you need to take out the miniSD card. If you want to upgrade your ROM, then use the PTT button ( the one below the volume rocker on the left side of your Treo) simultaneously with the pin reset.:D

If one installs this upgrade, and for whatever reason, needs to send the device in for service, will they be able to hard reset the device back to WM5? Also, when the official upgrade comes out, is it possible to flash it to the official version?

I updated my treo750 a few months back to WM6 and am currently wanting to do the same with my wife's 750v. I thought I remembered....I have the cheeimg.nbh on the mini-sd. I hold the ppt (bottom left button) and reset. It starts by saying upgrade for a split second then just the color bars come up with "serial" on the bottom and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong this time?

I've formatted my 1G card to fat32 and copied over Treo750Radio154.nbh.
I then press the PTT and reset. I quickly see the grey loading screen and then it goes to the chee100 IPL-0.20 'serial' screen.
What am I missing?

now i could unlock Extrom.
enabled to write and delete files in there.
But some of my friends couldnt.
i am not sure the reason:confused:,
so Guys, i need you to test this files
***New Test Version*****(Edited Aug.8th)
@DL zip files from following link.
@Extract zip and find 2 cab files.
*1_CHEE_MountExtROM.CAB
*2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab
@Install [1_CHEE_MountExtROM.CAB]
and make soft reset.
You should see the Extrom now.
@Install [2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab]
and make soft reset again
*Now [Extended_ROM] was renamed to [ExtendedROM]
@Start Menu--Programs---and excute [Chee_Extrom_Unlocker]
*Try to 3 or 4 time
And make soft reset againg. you got unlocked ExtendROM as strage 9MB.
hope this can work.
I get the "Insert Key failed!" error message. I'll try it several times to see if that fixes it.
I'm guessing the reason you're distributing this as a CAB is to make it easy for more novice people (and that's appreciated, for sure!)... However, if this is just some changes to the registry, would you mind posting the key/value pairs for those of us comfortable with editing the registry? I'd appreciate it greatly.
The key/values I'm talking about are the changes necessary to unlock the rom. I'm already familiar with the keys in the StorageManager necessary to unhide it, and set/change its name.

The official release is now available on Palm's site or from ATT Wireless site. It does require you to input your serial number of your device.
