I personally am spiritual as opposed to religious (for the small minded, yes there is a large difference) so I personally have no issue with using the devil's number.

You get what you are given, If you do not like it then go learn some ARM assembly and go patch it yourself, then go build your own XIP.

For the record, I have fixed the memorymap by rebasing all drivers (now ~34mb free program memory) and I have fixed the rebooting issues.

Will I release it? Who knows, Probably not if you are going to whine like little children.

Since xda-developers is about sharing knowledge maybe it would be best to explain how to change the number so people can still use the rom but without the (to them) offensive number.

If it's so important to have 'your own version' why not choose a version/number that doesn't offende half of the potential users? It's not their choice to whine/bitch about it, it's their believe, how stupid that may seem to others. I know not using your rom (and hopefully a kitchen) is always an option, but why not change the number instead? Is that number really *that* important to you?

I'm a Christian and while I was raised to "abhor" anything to do with the number 666 (and 616 BTW), I don't claim to have the answers to anything having to do with "End Times." I'm very sure however that none of Whiterat's roms are going to unleash the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse...

Like most people who have actually studied Revelations in a historical context, I think that the numbers relate to Roman emperors that were persecuting early Christians. The 666 relates to Nero and 616 related to somebody else like Caligula.

Can we get back to PDA's and forget the DA's who claim to have all of the religious answers?

666 refers to Ceaser Nero, although if you convert Microsoft (as sbuff mentioned) or George 'W' to Greek you'll probably get the same number. And that's exactly it, it's just a number.

Whiterat, it's your ROM, do what ever you want with it. If I wasn't using my own ROM I'd probably try yours out. If these people don't like it, let them use a different one.

Enough already. You've made your point - you don't like the ROM number. Whiterat made his point, he won't change the ROM number. This is not a religious argument (I was going to say discussion or debate, but neither term is correct to describe this thread). Nothing you say will change how Whiterat feels, and nothing anyone else says will change how you feel.

I never asked Whiterat or anyone else to change the ROM version. I merely pointed out that 666 was offensive to me and other people in the forum. Whiterat and other people could not discuss this without cursing or calling names. If this is truly a multicultural forum, then my beliefs have been discriminated against. If the discrimination had been sexual or racial, the mods would have done something about it before now.
