when using this tool, do you HAVE to update to another rom, or could you just cid unlock your phone with it? At step 3 it promts me to update to another rom, but I just want to CID unlock...

Its a temporary CID unlocker which allows to upgrade your rom. It stays unlock I guess unless you hard reset the device as the USPL stays in the memory.

I am trying to unlock my tmobile MDA Touch

I get to step 2 and I get the white screen on the phone, I have no errors, but active sync refuses to connect. Any ideas?

I have reset and retried several times :)

Fixed. When you have got the white screen and the upgrader has installed, ignore the fact it tells you you need an activesync connection and just click next (even though the activesync icon is gray)

I had the same problem on my Artemis, but it doesn't differ. Hopefully after 3 hours I solved the problem.
First make a hard reset. This will delete the whole memory. Second try the CIDUNLOCK tool again.
If your memory is fully with files, it doen't work.

I tried to CID unlock my ELF/Touch (ROMVer 1.13.111.4 GER, ExtROM 1.13.111.105) exactly (tried different computer, xp, vista, 2003, copy files in c:\cid , wait for AS to become green, etc...) as shown in the very first post.

I also executed enable_rapi cabs on my Touch.

No matter what i'm trying, i always get an error in step 2 at 10%, 15%, 75%saying:
"Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden"
which means (my translation...) "The system is unable to find given path"

Touch screen doesn't turn grey, AS keeps green. :-(

Any hints, help, tips?

1st attempt:
At Step 2 after 75% failed to execute program

2nd attempt:
Hangs at linux pinguin (loading spl to ram...)
--> Error [260] :connection
--> RGB (bootloader) screen
--> stylus reset

3rd attempt everything worked out fine.

Answer was to detach my 4Gb SDHC, after this flashing comes ok!!! =))))))

yes it can

You can't flash USPL on a device stuck in bootloader. You need to boot Windows Mobile to flash USPL.
Try to connect into bootloader using mtty, and issue these commands:

Cmd> ruurun 0
Cmd> ResetDevice

If it does return to bootloader after this, then you must flash original ROM matching your device's CID.

See the answer I've given to smoothdvd above.

Question, if I us this USPL over my 2.20.412.1B ESN rom I should be able to install the new 2.20.707.1B WWE no? Or it is only for the old 1.11 rom's?

Also, if I install the 2.20.707.1B WWE I will loose the USPL, so If there's a new update from Dopod will I be able to flash the new one without using the USPL?

I don't know what to do, wait for the official european versions, stick with the one I have or install the 2.20.707.1B WWE and the install one of the Big Storage ones, any suggestion?

Hi,

I know this version of USPL is for the Elf. But I, by mistake, ran it on my herald (t-mobile wing). I got the 3 color bootloader screen with a low version for the IPL and SPL (1.09 . . .). Once I realized I ran the wrong tool, I resetted my device and did not proceeed with flashing the rom I wanted (the official HTC Herald Rom).

My question is, was it a fluke that I actually got a bootloader screen? If I continued flashing the rom (step 3), would I have bricked my device?

I tried using USPL before on a dopod s100 [Touch] and it worked flawlessly and I was able to flash a WWE ROM.

I have another dopod s100 with China Unicom branding [splash screen] it's CHT, I tried USPL 6x and the process finishes without hiccups. But when I try to flash a WWE ROM I get ERROR 294 [Vendor ID]; I then tried to install Cert and Rapi before doing USPL tried 3x, no hiccups and I still get ERROR 294 :( trying to flash original: HTC Touch (Soft Black) ROM Code (2.20.707.1B WWE) any help would be appreciated.

i wonder if somebody is working on an newer release of USPL to change CID of the newer Elfs.
I would like to RMA my MDA Touch cause i´ve a black Dot in the center of the Display. Think the display has not enough pressure....cause when i push a little (not hard) on the left or right, the Dot begin to move and the background change colours (like when you press on a LCD Monitor)...
i asked t-Mobile for RMA and they said, i´ll get a new Touch XL then...
...but i won´t rma my touch until there is an option to CID unlock the new one...

you will have to flash the original T-Mobile Rom matching you Model ID (CID). After you´ve done, you can boot into WM and unlock CID...After this you can flash back to this image... works very nice on my german MDA Touch...

do you have the new Touch XL with 256MB/128MB ?
If so, there is currenty no way to CID unlock, so you won´t be able to update any rom which doesn´t match your Model ID.
You shouldn´t even try to unlock CID with uspl, cause this will brick your device !
If you´ve the normal Touch 128MB/64MB, what´s your current SPL version ?
You´ll have to pull out the sim and sd-card for unlock CID...

Anyone know why the SD card will interfere with the process?

I found that the WMDC (active sync for Vista) icon was missing in the sys-tray.
I UnInstalled the driverupdate that's been available for some time. Downloaded it again, installed, and it all worked again.

You should take out all cards before running USPL ! Take out your SIM and your SD Card.
Yes the white Screen is normal. Look at the first Post :
Phone screen should now be blank and the activesync icon gray
if not, the loading procedure has failed and you'll have to repeat again.

Hast die Karten vorher alle rausgemacht?
Bootest in den Bootloader, steckst dein USB dran, dann sollte im Bootloader auch was von usb stehen, dann startest dein RomUpdateTool und drückst weiter....
Welcher Fehler kommt bei dir ?

If you read the instructions in pofs USPL CID Unlock thread, it will say that after step 2, you should get a white blank screen and gray activesync tray icon (apply to Win XP only) and this indicates that your device has been successfully CID unlocked. To put it simply, the [white blank screen + gray activesync icon + 2 "dong" warning beeps] indicates that you have sucessfully unlocked the CID.

Just proceed from there to flash the rom you desire. Good Luck!

i tried it many times with a 2 GB Card and a 1 GB Card insert, but nothing happens ! I always get the normal BootLoader Screen !
I Formated the Card with Fat32 and put the image on it !
Rename it to ELF0IMG.nbh after that to ELF0IMG.NBH and last to elf0img.nbh . And i Alwaysee the red green blue Bootloader Menu ...
I tried it with Fat and Fat32 ... The same result :-(

I´ve used the CID Unlock Tool for my new Tmobile XL Touch.

Everything worked fine and it was written Congratulations everything is working.

Then i tried to put my touch on and off and nothing happend.

Sometimes the T Mobile Screen appears and after a few seconds the screen gets black.

or i put the on off button and nothing happend just a black screen.

Can someone help me what going wrong and what i have to do?

i now get managed to get into bootlooader and flash to the Touch Dual Rom for the normal Touch. Everything was fine but there is the same problem. The T Mobile Screen comes for a few seconds and then is nothing just a black Screen.

im a little bit confused now. Do i have my Touch damaged????

I flashed a new ROM and then tried reflashing it a second time and my phone is not accepting the ROM any more!

It is also not accepting any other ROMs including stock ROMs.

I am running IPL 2.20.0002 SPL 2.20.0000 and all ROMs fail at 2 - 3% (from bootloader) and it currently does not go beyond the "smart mobility" screen. Any ideas??

I got up to and done part 2 where my screen is blank and white. Then I try to flash the ROM however the activesync stays gray so I can not flash. If I reconnect the cable it still stays disconnected(gray). If I continue anyway, the progress bar appears on the computer screen. Then a error message appears saying Connection Error, please check that the machine is connected(something like that).
My understanding is that I can only flash when I'm in the White screen. However I can't connect my Touch to the Computer during this time, so how can I flash the ROM?

I have had the same problem with my 4GB SD card and running the USPL. The process hangs in the tri-color bootloader screen. By removing my SD card and hard resetting, the Touch will reboot normally.

Anyone know why the SD card will interfere with the process?

POF, you may want to add a note about this in your first posts.

Because it's also possible to flash from Storage card it has tocheck if there's an image on it. And that somehow conflicts with the Flash.

Start your phone in bootloader and then run the Rom Update Utility (RUU) again- it should work if your CID unlock was successful

I've been thinking of a way to revive my comatose Touch.
Is it possible to use cerun.exe to run the USPL patching process on the device remotely through bootloader?
I am trying to do this and cerun can indeed connect with the device which is a good sign.
The problem is that It returns an error that it "failed to connect via rapi" - I am trying to run the CERT and RAPI cabs first and the possibly go through the rest of the process with HaRet.exe and the rest

Any thoughts?

Have you tried installing some original ROMs from bootloader? This should do it in most cases

Pls don't pay attention to the messages of RUU. Your Touch's screen is blank & white at the end of STEP 2 - it's ok. Do NOT reset or disconnect your device from your PC. Just follow STEP 3. Press Next & continue the whole process without disconnectiong of restaring. Your ActivSync icon is grey - it's OK too. Continue the process. At the very end of the flashing, your Touch will restart by itself with a new ROM :)

Okay thanks, I've tried doing what you've explained too, just ignoring and continuing (when I'm at the white screen), however I still get the Connection error, please check USB etc. :mad: I've tried many times.. is this normal, should I leave my machine for 10 mins or so and come back?

Yay! I got it to work.
I removed the SD card (tried before but still didn't work but I took it out again anyways), changed computer, changed USB cable, reinstalled ActiveSync. And now I have a custom ROM thanks so much guys!

I have a problem

- loaded ESPL bootloader - loaded Blue ROM 3.01 posted here, all works fine
- The phone stays on for a while - while the screen is touched
- After a while when there is no activity, it goes to sleep
- it does not turn on with the power button
- I end up pushing the reset button to wake it up

This problem is consisent everytime the phone goes to sleep.

I have to load HTC OEM Rom (also from this webite - I believe the WWE Australian verion) via ESPL. once loaded everything goes back to normal - no sleep problem.

This phone is from Rogers - canada. Imakaged to SIM unlock t and alwo CID (except eh problem above with any non-OEM ROMS).

I've been having a few issues today and finally got things to work, this may help others too if they are doing what I was ... remove microsd/HC card & sim from your phone before trying any of these updates - just couldn't get a rom to take without doing this - am now a really happy chappy once again :)

Using the standard HTC rom provided on the forum with the touchflo interface intact (missing from a UK Tmobile phone)

I did CID Unlock to an HTC ELF from Hong Kong to change language to Spanish with a Spanish Rom. CID Unlock was a success, the process didn't give an error and all steps went fine, at the end the HTC reset itself and connected to activesync. Now comes the problem, I switched off the HTC and now when I switch it on, it shows the Splash Screen "Smart Mobility" and switchs off after 4 seconds :(. I have tried soft resets, hard resets and some Roms that I have flashed without a problem, but problem is still there. What the hell is happening? I need the help of an expert like you Pof, please show me right way.

I think it's relatively easy to develop a SSPL and hard-SPL for the touch DUAL. You could start dumping your SPL here and I can post a SSPL (which you can try at no risk).

That sucks... We get the 400Mhz processor, the 128/256 storage, but can't flash our ROM and have no wifi. Why can't they just build a Touch that incorporates all the good stuff without sacrificing other features?!

Well, until tonite I was a newbie (now I'm a newbie Sr!), and after read tons of useless web pages I found that thread. I've a Bell's Touch and I'm still stucked with that problem. I tried soft reset, hard reset, many installation and running rapi/efl_uspl in different order. But installing rapi's cabs seems to jamm to process early at 15%.... than clicking 'Yes' when the yellow warning appears and goes through the haret linux logo. But same result, Touch will freeze after the Haret console started. After a hard-reset and the regular align screen wizard, my Touch runs a 'customization' applet to change colors and some others things. In this customization, could it be possible than they remove the Internet Sharing modules (the option that we are probably all here to fix...) and install a protection against some patched bootloader? Could it be directly in the default code? :confused: Well, I think I'll read another 35872 pages to see if a modder somewhere on this planet is better than us!

Following to my first post, I worked a couple hours more and trying some other combination. I'm working on this problem for an entire day, so please do not reply to "correctly read the process".

First, i run the elf-uspl util whitout applying the cabs and accepting the risk when the notification comes up. Haret comes to the screen and freeze. I just soft reset after Touch frozen at the 15%.... and rerun the elf-uspl, now I'm getting the message "Unable to open the log file.... tiny_console_init done".

No problem, I'm still able to soft-reset this stupid pda box and rerun again elf-uspl, this time I received a brand new message under my new friend Haret the Penguin: VRAM 0x00700000. Cool! :eek: Something happened but I doesn't help anymore.

I applyed the cabs as mentionned and run the util whitout softressetting, jammed at 15%....; Soft-reset, run util, jammed at 15%.... The mobile connection icon (i checked the box in Network Properties) is frozen in blue like if something is tranferring but it's only cosmetic, counters are not doing anything. I leave it for 20 minutes, still the same situation.

I also try many utils like Elf_unlocker and Nikiv1aUnlock.exe, but they seems to do less job than the Pof's one... So, I decide to continue working with Pof's util because I have the impression to better understand what we're trying to do and how I can do something different. :confused:

I dunno what the hell BellMob (canada) putted in this f**** pda release of HTC Touch, is it because it's CDMA? Does CDMA or GSM impact something in this new generation of phone? I didn't see any forum talking about this difference in comparison with my previous phones, mostly motorolas where you can't mod it as you wish whitout keep this spec on mind. This carrier always seems to prefer to cut some features, makes you difficult to use it and restrict usage in their phones than giving us the liberty to do what I want with what I bought.

If I want to scrap my 400$ pda this is not the Bell's problem and they will sell me another one anyway, so WHAT DON'T YOU LET ME SCRAP ANYTHING as I wish? :mad:

I have a Dutch T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus, which is the same as the Touch Enhanced/XL (the 256/128mb version).
I already SIM-unlocked it with a guide elswhere on XDA-dev.

My SPL/IPL version is the following:
IPL: 2.81.0002
SPL: 2.81.0000

How to do an SPL unlock with the Enhanced/XL? Afaik the USPL update mentioned in the FP only works on the 'regular' 64/128mb Touch, or am I wrong here?
Second: Is it possible to dump my original ROM etc. before updating to another ROM? If yes, how?

Well, so it seems that we are onyl guys having problem with newest touch and nobody find and answer. I just burst to mine yesterday and it freezing on the splash screen. No matter what the shit they have put on the recents versions of touch, when it will be back from warranty I'll put it on ebay.

i fixed my. there is a problem with CID unlock it's flashing old SPL on you touch and it course all defarent problems. All i did i find original ROM and flush it. It was not origenal from the company the phone from but some Australian rom. It's works but now it's CID locked to that Company.

Yesterday I made my ELFin phone CID unlocked and accidentally flashed original Australian rom “RUU_Elf_DOPOD_AU_1.14.710.2_4.1.13.46_02.97.90_BL UE_Ship” The worked part is that My ELFin got CID locked to this rom. And it don’t boot any more. I can only got to Boot-loader screen. And my IPL became 1.14.0002 and SPL 1.14.0000 I think this is old IPL and it don’t support new ELFin version.

And now if I’m truing to flash any original rom on it I’m getting error 244. if I’m truing to flash any cooked rom I’m getting error 270


If any one knows how to CID unlock from Boot-loader screen that will be grate.

Ok guys i have used your CID unlock on my Rogers wireless ELF XL and after it flashed SPL to 1.11.0000 my ram amount from 128mb want to 64mb and every time i press power boten it's restarts and antenna don't connect to cell tower.

Please help.

I have an Elf sim unlocked. purcased on Hong Kong.

after using POF CID unlock with no problems, I am trying to flash the BlueElf V4 ROM, but after 3% it always shuts down. always..!! no matter what I do, the error is:

ERROR 294 INVALID VENDER ID (yes, vender and not vendor)

and beside the "exit" ruu button I got the code

DPRRH568-EMH355670-PPRRH568-EM3./01*

what do you think could be the problem?

This is a patched SPL for HTC Elf devices (HTC Touch / HTC P3450 / Dopod S1, o2 Nova, etc...).

This SPL is based on original Elf 1.11 SPL but includes 3 patches:


g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 0 (set 32)
Does not check Model ID
Does not check signature*


(*) code must be formally signed i.e. contain properly-formated signatures on their places, however no checking are performed against them.

This means you can flash ANY ROM to your Elf after flashing USPL on it, no need to pay for CID unlock anymore!

Update:
Some ROMs (specially O2 Nova) don't allow to run unsigned applications by default and some people have reported difficulties installing USPL. If you see a popup asking to run unsigned code, you need to rapi-unlock your phone manually, to do this download enable-rapi.zip and follow the instructions inside the file prior to installing USPL.

Notes:
1. I have only tested under XP, people says it works on Vista too.
2. Unzip the file, do not run it on the zipped folder. (Note: Better to unzip in c:\ folder with no spaces on the name).
3. This will only CID unlock your device, not SIM unlock.
4. On some devices STEP 2 fails the first time, just hit CTRL+C, softreset your device and start over again.
5. To create NBH files for Elf you should use HTC Rom Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311909) by Dark Simpson, because "nbhgen" doesn't create proper NBH files for elf.
6. You can use Artemis splash screen tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317726) by jcaron safely on the Elf, the Artemis RUU is compatible with Elf-USPL and both devices have same splash screen format.
7. After flashing a full ROM (containing a SPL on it) you'll overwrite USPL, so you'll need to repeat the USPL flashing process again.

Genral info:
I make a big rom update under a older version of the ROM. Now I have a new HTC Touch with a up to date ROM version and it want and do not want working. I come not to the big rom solution :-(

The Hardware / Software information:
- SIM card and 4GB SD card are into the HTC Touch
- The ROM Version is 1.11.407.1B GER

My experience after the errors
1) I had the three colours (fixed with the mtty.exe (password BsaD5SeoA / ruurun 0 and the ResetDevice. The entries in the console not working with copy and past you must to type. Before you must delete the hock in the activesync setting by "allow USB connentions). For more info see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347700!
2) I had the white display (fixed with a hard reset from the HTC Touch) How can you make the hard reset see --> http://www.pocketpc.ch/showthread.php?t=38938 (in german entry 8)
3) The HTC Touch goes not further after the pin code. The solution is also an hard reset
4) I had also three colours and i push the camera button, the on/off button and with the stylus in the hole right from the usb. After this I go further with 1)

Following steps has been carried out many time and have no solution:
a) Download the enable-rapi.zip with the two files (Cert_SPCS.cab und EnableRapi.cab)
- I store the files on the htc touch
- First I install the Cert_SPCS.cab
- and than the EnableRapi.cab
b) Soft reset
c) unzip the file "ELF_USPL-v1.zip" and start the file "elf-uspl.exe"
- Step 1 run to the end
- Step 2 also run to the end. The activesync icon is grey and the HTC touch screen is white
- I start the step 3 (i'm not sure is this correct)

No the step 3 goes not to the end and a new windows is displayed. The windows has a jpg from the HTC Touch. The activesync is disconnected and the dead end is reached. Now I have maybe the white HTC Touch display, the three colours, but never I have a big rom.

Wha is the solution?
* HTC without the SIM card
* HTC with a 1 or 2 GB SD card (without a SD card the three colours is the result)? With my solution I have a 4 GB SD card into the HTC!!!
* What is the right rom version for ROM 1.11.407.1B GER (Deutsch)?
* Is the step three necessary, if the HTC touch screen white?
* Is the procedure the right procedure?
* Are the unlook file in the right version?

Question over question, have one of you a answer?

1 execute elf-uspl.exe. This works fine, all three steps succeed.
2 execute ROMUpdateUtility.exe. This detects my old rom (1.13.114.3 NLD). I get the 3 color bands on my touch. The task bar progresses 2 steps then I get this message.

Actually I tried this with several Roms and never succeeded, always got this message.

My touch is unlocked and now also CID unlocked

ROMdate: 05/31/07

I know what you're saying but I also see what he's saying.... I actually bricked my first Touch with this but LUCKILY I was able to do DOA through Rogers...

It WOULD have been nice if pof had stated that it would not work with tha elfin (as is mentioned in the first post of most roms), but pof has done so much for this forum that I would not complain.... especially for something which is basically free....

First time I ran this, I got 270 error and I followed it VERY carefully, then after than my PC would refuse to recognise the device. I had to reinstall AS, remove driver and reboot. Retried exactly what I done last time and it worked.

It means I hadn't CID unlocked it first.

Another TIP: Don't forget to undo any encryption on your storage card before flashing otherwise you will encrypt all your files and be unable to read them with your new ROM. Bugger!:mad:

i've been trying pof's cid unlocker on an italian branded tim device...

all seems to work until a hard reset is performed... i managed to flash different roms (cloudyfa's shadow 2 and a tweaked italian rom) only to see them getting stuck at the "smart mobility" after turning off the device a few times... the only way to recover the touch is to flash the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345686 rom through bootloader...

my guess is that the cooked roms i've flashed don't replace the USPL... but probably is a noobish guess...

if what i'm saying makes sense, is there a way to replace the spl in the roms with the one contained in the dopodasia wwe?

Find yourself a rom you like.

Run the CID unlock after step 2 don't go to step 3 but run the rom update you just found yourself it will work

No, this one is only for Elf, but I'll publish a version for Herald soon, its on testing phase :)

Hey pof, we really appreciate your work. There's a USPL for the Herald but it doesn't stay on the device, it's only jumped to the memory. This means that we have to reflash to the stock RUU every time we break a flash and run the USPL every time we want to flash again. (Unless we HardSPL but I don't want to HardSPL and then worry about the warranty. Currently, you can return from HardSPL to the stock ROM, but your phone has to be stable enough to boot into windows so that you can launch the USPL again...)

If it's at all possible, do you think you can help us out with an SPL that we CAN flash. And while you're at it, if it's possible, help us find whatever is causing flashes smaller than 51.2mb to fail?

Pof, I managed to get my elf cid unlocked (is it when SPL and IPL are 1.11?) but for some reason I cannot upload any rom. Believe me, I tried. At least 20 different once. Also tried the so-called original dutch once (my elf is a non-branded dutch elf0100). Also tried the so called "official" HTC variations. Nothing works.
The only thing it does is hang in the "smart mobility" screen. I can put it manually in bootloader to try to upload rom's but most of them give "wrong vender ID" (yes it is vender, not vendor :)) and some of them say the image is corrupted. This happened more than 10 times so I don't believe it anymore.

Can you help get my elf working again?

PS: I also tried about 8 different roms via the SD card method, invalid certificate error all the time.

I am having the same problems that many others report. I am stuck in bootloader mode and no ROM I try works. I am wondering if anyone has an original T-Mobile MDA Touch German ROM that was linked with SPL/IPL 2.x.x? I tried the German ROM 2.20.707.1B and no luck.

Here's how I screwed up: I ran pof's elf-uspl.exe (unfortunately with SD and sim card in originally) and am stuck in bootloader. I have tried multiple different ROMs with those cards removed and still always get error messages. I never even got a chance to run enable-rapi.zip. I ran mtty once, and I was able to reset my device and "RUU" appeared on the upper right hand corner of my screen while in bootloader. I tried downloading one ROM version; it didn't work; I went back into bootloader screen; tried mtty again; but now nothing happens when I enter the password. I've rebooted everything multiple times. Thoughts? Thanks!!

I am thinking about flashing my ROM and this guide is truly fantastic for a noobie like me, but I have a couple of questions.
I got my touch last September so am guessing it has the original ROM but am concerned that the figures don't match those in this table for the orange version http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_Versions. I have

ROM date 06/11/07 (guessing that is 11th June!)

Also I have had an intermittent fault when I swipe my finger up the screen for the cube, it sometimes flashes up then disappears taking away the top task bar. I have to then reset for it to come back. I kinda of solved it last time by inadvertently dropping it on the floor! Anybody else had the same? Will flashing completely solve it?

Hi there - I've used USPL on my HTC Touch and now my IPL is 1.11.0002 and my SPL is 1.11.0000 but I cannot get any roms to flash to it, they all fail with 244 or 270 errors. I can't run USPL either - it just hangs.

vasya0001..did you fix your phone? as i remembered, i needed to flash the right rom to fix my phone. you can download many different rom's from htc website..here: http://www.htcamerica.net/ or register first to download here: http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod_en/member/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fDopod_en%2fmembers%2fother s.aspx

i had to try different rom to get the right one and make the phone work again..of course you flash only from bootloader mode..good luck!!!!!

You probably just need to reset, reload CERT_SPCS and EnableRAPI cabs again before retrying with a different SPL unlock.

There are two different devices:
P3450 (64/128MB) and P3452 (128/256MB)
These come both in two basic different flavours: HTC and OEM.

The SPL unlock can be used on all but you need to use the right one.

Step one must be to determine your DeviceID and CID so you can build yourself a get-out-of-jail-free card by way of locating your original ROM.
You can do this here by following all the instructions on this post:

Before you think about SPL unlocking make sure you have run the CERT_SPCS and EnableRAPI cab files at this location!!!

And you only run the first two stages, pressing Control-C at the end of stage 2 to load a custom Elfin ROM.

When you run either of these (assuming you have run your CERT_SPCS and EnableRAPI first) they go through three phases.

From memory
1. First phase transfers some communication and utility DLLS
2. Second phase loads and configures a boot loader which bypasses certification for a single reset.
3. Third phase patches the SPL ready to recieve any ROM.


If you hit a snag, you may have not been running the right SPL unlock for your device. If you have determined your Device ID and CID and have your correct base ROM then you're pretty safe.

Also if the SPL locked up on the Penguin Screen and didn't go grey then you are NOT ready to load another ROM. I suggest a thorough read of the two threads I posted above on SPL unlocks to CYA (Cover Your Arse).

PS Many people have come unstuck loading one particular ROM, make sure you check any ROM out you propose to load before you try to load it and make sure you have a way back!

You have to install the Unlocker only after you upgrade/install an original rom, so if you install a cooked rom, you have not.

I accidently used this on an elfin too and it bricked the phone (thought it was an elf at first, but it appeared to be a KPN elfin ;) ). Esta' muy raro que no se enciende. En todos casos, este proceso no sirve para SIM unlock, sino unicamente para CID (Application) unlock. Por eso que no vas a ser capaz de utilizar un SIM de diferente proveedor. Si pones el SIM viejo otra vez, todo deberia funcionar normalmente.

i have an HTC touch from Italy, the customer care and the service centre failed to help me, and i stumbled on your threads for unlocking the ROM. I am new at this but would like to know how to proceed with unlocking my ROM and then how to change the WM 6 software to english
please tell me if after flashing the ROM, does my touch go blank and is the software blanked out or just the phone unlocks and everything is still the same.
The customer service say they can't help because the ROM is region locked, or else they would have updated the software...please advise

Hi guys, one quick question.
When I complete all of the steps in USPL my device becomes permanently CID unlocked(unless I flash original ROM or coocked containind spl)?
When all of the steps are done do I need to run ruu.exe immediately or is USPL saved even after soft reset?

hi pof.. everytime i used this uspl, i had to use it atleast 15 times.. it only shows the penguine and nothing happens.. these days once the device is off it doesnt switch on again for a long time.. i have to remove the battery, wait for 5 mins and then switch it back on.. any idea why this must b happening? or any work arounds?

These are the valid SPL's I tested

If you have a P3452 You can use the P3450 USPL if you quit at the end of stage 2 but you are better using the P3452 USPL.

If you have the P3450 and it doesnt go through to the grey-white screen then you need to clean the handset down first before reloading certspcs and enablerapi


CLEANING DOWN YOUR PHONE AND RESTARTING WITH NO VENDOR CUSTOMISATIONS

REMEMBER: REMOVE YOUR SIM CARD AND SD CARDS BEFORE DOING THE FOLLOWING

Step 1: Hold Down the Red and Green Call buttons and press the reset.
A message warning you that you are about to format your storage is displayed:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Action to restore manufacturer default or press other keys to cancel.Step 2: Press the centre button (you will see a message saying that the FAT partition is being formatted and the device will reset and load the OS for the first time)

Step 3: Prompt: "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile Based device." - Tap the screen, complete the alignment and set the date and time

Step 4: Tap the next button on the Date and Time Screen

Step 5: Tap "Skip" on the password screen

Step 6: GET READY TO MANUALLY RESET YOUR PHONE avoiding all customisations!!!!!

Step 7: Tap the screen then immediately as the OS loads the today screen a "customising in 3 seconds "OK" dialog is displayed, PRESS RESET before it can take effect - Your phone will reset loaded with a clean ROM with no vendor customisations.

Once you have a clean handset, reload the Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab by copying them to the temp directory on your device and running them CERT_SPCS first. Then once loaded reset your handset again.

You now have a clean device ready to receive the right USPL. Make sure you choose the right one for your handset!!!

When I do this CID unlocking, on Step 2 my screen freezes and my Active sync turns grey. Is this correct? If so, how long should Step 2 take? Ive tried a couple times. After 10 minutes of waiting it got up to 75% then said there is no connection and failed. Can anyone help?

Does it go to a white screen on your phone? It should come up within a couple of seconds of the penguin appearing. If not, reset the device and try again.. It may take a few tries but that's normal. When it goes white and Activesync goes grey, then you can use the rom update utility.
