On my HTC Touch, same happens, pauses at 15% at step 2 and then I cannot use my phone and have to reset....

What is going on?

I would love to be able to change my splash screen and this seems like it needs to be done before I can do it

Hi All
Have you cleaned down your handset fully before you started?
Have you removed your SIM and SD cards?
Have you put your device into flight mode?
Are you using the right USPL for your device?
There are two USPL's...

These are the valid SPL's I tested

If you have a P3452 You can use the P3450 USPL if you quit at the end of stage 2 but you are better using the P3452 USPL.

If you have the P3450 and it doesnt go through to the grey-white screen then you need to clean the handset down first before reloading certspcs and enablerapi

When i use uspl for my tmobile mda (128/256) it get stuck at step 2/3

The screen of my elfin is dark with the linux pinguin in the upper right corner and the green text;

I dit a hard reset and it happend again. It doesn't respond to any thing, so ik took out my battery once and soft reset it once. Wath should i do? Now it's working fine but want another rom.

Have you tried:
1. Remove your SD Card and SIM Card
2. Clean down your device (load without customisations) before loading CERTSPCS and ENNABLERAPI.cab's (I suspect that tehy have not loaded properly)
3. Put your device into Airplane Mode
4. And run this USPL unlocker?

then i took the uspl of your like and when i end step 2 my screen is black except for 2 tiny green sentences (barely visible)
Unable to open log file

When i start step 3/3 the Pda phone rom update utility 3.14.4.1 gives an Error 260 Connection, cannot connect to your pda phone.

then a green part, blue part

I then installed 1) cert_spcs and 2) enable cabi in my pda. 3) Run elf-uspl.exe on my computer

When installing arrives at STEP 2/3 ... 15%... , the icon green activesync becomes gray and the installation stops. I cannot use my phone and have to reset with softreset

Now I have a doubt :

Is it possible that this product is a CLONE? That this product is not an elf, or dopod s1 or htc touch? Then I cannot flashing the ROM.

The hard reset, having pressed the same button red and green along with the soft-reset button is not working, but simply do a soft reset. i can do only a softreset and a master clear.

Same thing happened to me.. it would get to the black screen with green lettering (and Linux penguin), and afterwards I also got the tri-colour screen. I repeated 3 or 4 times till I finally got the white screen.

I tried several times on my P3452 Tmobile MDA before I got a success - try a couple more times but make sure you cover off the basics - I have no idea why it worked on the third time through and not the first and second.

I usually install CertSPCS and then enablerapi and then reset... do you reset your device before the USPL?

Also you mentioned a clone....
I've seen a few articles and read a few posts here on them. I suggest the best way to be sure is to use CyZeek's thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379034) to determine the deviceID and CID, assuming that you get the right responses you have a valid device. From what I have seen the fakes do not have WM6.

Warning! This program is not working for Orange branded devices. I used it and ran HTC_Touch_WWE_ME_2.20.456.1B.exe to update the device. Now it is bricked and hangs in the bootmode screen:
IPL 1.14.0002
SPL 2.28.0000

Is there anyone that can help me or experienced the same problems? I can't flash other firmware and Orange does not offer an original dutch rom. :(

Weird thing happened when i exexcuted USPL.
I've removed SIM and SD card. Phone is also in airplane mode. Before all of that i've hardrested the device and loaded Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab.
I've ran uspl and all of the steps went fine(penguin during step 2 and white screen on step 3). RUU initalized and went all the way to 100% and that's when I got "Error 270 invalid vendor ID" message? Now i dont know if my device is cid unlocked or not.
Thankfully the device is working well.
I've seen a couple of posts with the same problem and no answers. I'm now reluctant in try USPL again.
Anybody had the same weir problem?

But when I Try to put this ROM on a locked device with your USPL they give me the error:
For a Unlocked Devices, I have a procedure to RUN the attached SPL before ROM Update.
So, my question is: "Can I merge this SPLs? Can I modify USPL to support up to 128MB ROM? How can I do that?"

This is a patched SPL for HTC Elf devices (HTC Touch / HTC P3450 / Dopod S1, o2 Nova, etc...).

This SPL is based on original Elf 1.11 SPL but includes 3 patches:


g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 0 (set 32)
Does not check Model ID
Does not check signature*


(*) code must be formally signed i.e. contain properly-formated signatures on their places, however no checking are performed against them.

This means you can flash ANY ROM to your Elf after flashing USPL on it, no need to pay for CID unlock anymore!

Disclaimer:

Instructions:
1. Unzip
2. Connect your phone to computer, make sure activesync is enabled (green icon)

Update:
Some ROMs (specially O2 Nova) don't allow to run unsigned applications by default and some people have reported difficulties installing USPL. If you see a popup asking to run unsigned code, you need to rapi-unlock your phone manually, to do this download enable-rapi.zip and follow the instructions inside the file prior to installing USPL.

Notes:
1. I have only tested under XP, people says it works on Vista too.
2. Unzip the file, do not run it on the zipped folder. (Note: Better to unzip in c:\ folder with no spaces on the name).
3. This will only CID unlock your device, not SIM unlock.
4. On some devices STEP 2 fails the first time, just hit CTRL+C, softreset your device and start over again.
5. To create NBH files for Elf you should use HTC Rom Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311909) by Dark Simpson, because "nbhgen" doesn't create proper NBH files for elf.
6. You can use Artemis splash screen tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317726) by jcaron safely on the Elf, the Artemis RUU is compatible with Elf-USPL and both devices have same splash screen format.
7. After flashing a full ROM (containing a SPL on it) you'll overwrite USPL, so you'll need to repeat the USPL flashing process again.

this is not a ROM, by flashing the USPL u can flash the cooked ROMs to ur phone. i think if u r able to make calls with this phone, then using GPRS should also be not a problem.

First I cid unlocked the phone than I flashed it with a new rom and now I cant it anymore?!

After this now when i power on my Touch it boots & says Smart Mobility in start up & then gets switch off & after this i tryed to flash & flash severel TOUCH ROMS including French tooo but every time it gives me error invalid vendor id as i can format it even i can put it back in Boot Mode/Tri Colour Mode but now i have gone down.........
So if u can help/guide me what can i do to make this work again normal.............. Expecting your +ve reaply...........

Found it. At the point that the dos box says; hit ENTER to launch RUU, you have to open the RUU from any ROM you want to flash.. You can leave the dos box in the background, without paying attention to it. That's all

i dont think you can i have not found out how if there is. i think you have to have the device on and in the os system to use uspl because it uses the system to write a code over the locked cid so you can flash it.

i wish there was a way because i am out of luck with my htc touch elf030050 (mda touch german )CID t-mob101 there is no oem rom for me online yet

you may have to try removing the battery for a while, so that vram is cleared again. insert the battery after 10s and run the elf uspl. no need to install the 2 cabs.

u've flashed WRONG USPL mate. u flashed Elf's USPL to Elfin, thats why u r stuck. if u look up on top of the page, there is a problem SIMILAR to urs :)
anyway, just download the Elfin_USPL, unzip it, go to RUU folder, run the romupdateutility.exe from there while u're in bootloader.

g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = FF means your phone is still CID locked. i suspect you have accidently flashed a shipped ROM having original SPL. only a shipped ROM can save u now. or you will have to send the phone to service centre.

u can not flash branded ROMs coz they dont match with ur CID/DID. therefore, dont try them as long as the CID/DID doesnt match with ur phone's ;)

find the CID/DID of your phone first following the Sticky rollup. after that check for a shipped ROM which matches with your phone's CID/DID. only a shipped ROM can save the phone.

So you have an ELF with default IPL: 1.16.0002 & I guess default SPL: 1.16.0000
and you flashed the patched 2.28.0000 SPL
resulting in stucking on bootloader?
If that's the case&the process was completed, it means that the phone is CID Unlocked & you could flash any other IPL & SPL (patched or not) through bootloader,
but better check your CID-(UN)Lock status by following the relevant guide
and then report your results here.

I Have tried to exchange the =2 Splash Logo at the first boot. But it didn't work :mad:. I've got always the error for step 3:

try installing Cert_SPCS first and then enable_rapi.cab. Try copying both the files to the phone and installing instead of installing through activesync (not sure if you are doing this...) soft reset and try again. and pls remember to remove the microSDcard and sim card also, just to be doubly sure.

You probably flashed the wrong USPL. Did you read the thread at the top entitled "Avoid Confusion and Damage"?

Try to go into bootloader (press reset while holding down the camera button). What is your IPL/SPL version? You might be able to flash the correct USPL.

The USPL would give you SPL 1.11.0000 (I think). It looks like you flashed a shipped ROM and it overwrote your USPL with an Elf SPL 1.17.0000.

Hi.

I have an ELF, from DOPOD600. I got this phone in non working condition, I loaded the original RUU and I unlocked it 3 months ago and everything was fine before I started changing my RUU with other cooked.

I had to reflash it with the original RUU at least 4 times and after that I had to unlock it again.

Some bad day I tried to load a factory Ruu (not my original) and my phone didn't boot any more (hangs on SmartMobility logo) after that day I'm unable to reload my original RUU (the process fail with error:270 at 7%) and even apply the cid unlock because I cannot have ActiveSyn with no RUU.

I have found a lot of information about Error 270 but at 3% faild, in my case it fails at 7% and I'm sure about this RUU is the right because I used it many time when my CID get's locked.

When I made hard-reset, after reboot it just shows the SmartMobility logo

I tried booting from SD but it crash on load.

Have anyone other ideas?

I'm quite sure about my problem is around the IPL and SPL version, but I don't know how to change it with a phone without Windows.

Hello, I have a Problem with the elf-uspl.exe, during flashing the rom of the HTC Touch Elf.
The 1st step is OK, but during the second step, the process blocks at 15% and the ActiveSync icon becomes gray. I waited for 20 min, but it was only at 15%.

i have an htc touch elf and recently i got stuck at the align screen... i hard reset the screen and since then i am not able to go ahead of the align screen... my original rom is 1.11.720.1B and i tried to flash ELFUSPLv1 to solve the problem... but i m still stuck with the same problem...

If you flashed the wrong USPL then flash htctouchp's 2.28 USPL from the bootloader (see link in my sig). That should get you back to the operating system.

This is a patched SPL for HTC Elf devices (HTC Touch / HTC P3450 / Dopod S1, o2 Nova, etc...).

This SPL is based on original Elf 1.11 SPL but includes 3 patches:


g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 0 (set 32)
Does not check Model ID
Does not check signature*


(*) code must be formally signed i.e. contain properly-formated signatures on their places, however no checking are performed against them.

This means you can flash ANY ROM to your Elf after flashing USPL on it, no need to pay for CID unlock anymore!

Disclaimer:

1. Unzip

Update:
Some ROMs (specially O2 Nova) don't allow to run unsigned applications by default and some people have reported difficulties installing USPL. If you see a popup asking to run unsigned code, you need to rapi-unlock your phone manually, to do this download enable-rapi.zip and follow the instructions inside the file prior to installing USPL.

Notes:
1. I have only tested under XP, people says it works on Vista too.
2. Unzip the file, do not run it on the zipped folder. (Note: Better to unzip in c:\ folder with no spaces on the name).
3. This will only CID unlock your device, not SIM unlock.
4. On some devices STEP 2 fails the first time, just hit CTRL+C, softreset your device and start over again.
5. To create NBH files for Elf you should use HTC Rom Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311909) by Dark Simpson, because "nbhgen" doesn't create proper NBH files for elf.
6. You can use Artemis splash screen tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317726) by jcaron safely on the Elf, the Artemis RUU is compatible with Elf-USPL and both devices have same splash screen format.
7. After flashing a full ROM (containing a SPL on it) you'll overwrite USPL, so you'll need to repeat the USPL flashing process again.

Have the device and ROM below mentioned. Tried to flash the ELF USPL, but the process get stuck at a gray screen with a penguin on it, where it says that the uspl is being flashed. The sync button gets greyed out but the screen does never turn white. Tried about 10 times without success. After it gets stuck i do a soft reset and it enters the screen with the colored stripes, and i have to soft reset again to restart normally. Pls. help.

Run the device_info.bat tool (see my signature for link), and tell us what you see for the SPL.

Hi, im recently buyed one HTC p3450 but is made in china, so i cant access bootloader and i tried a lot times this guide and nothing happen..
I can access pressing Volume Up + Power + Soft reset, but it says about: Wants to bootloader from SD card? something like that, and no more options, nothing happens..

Step 3: I got Pinguin Screen with some msg that said at the end..

I disconnect phone, wifi, etc. Sim card and Storage card are out and still same error.

Sorry for this but...

I have read the sticky thread, downloaded & run the CID unlock program, which runs, then I press Ctrl C as instructed & get the ROM update application window. But after that I just get a message 'file is corrupted'.

This is exactly the same error as I got before I ran the CID unlock program while loading TABISH 6.1 upgrade.

The phone re-starts after both & is fine, but no update happens.

My phone build is CE OS 5.2.1620 ( Build 18125.0.4.2 ). This is slightly different to my previous Elf & has slightly different messaging keypad software included. could this be why my upgrade fails ?

Hi, im recently buyed one HTC p3450 but is made in china, so i cant access bootloader and i tried a lot times this guide and nothing happen..
I can access pressing Volume Up + Power + Soft reset, but it says about: Wants to bootloader from SD card? something like that, and no more options, nothing happens..
With Elf_USPL i got this
Step 1 and 2: OK
Step 3: I got Pinguin Screen with some msg that said at the end..
Praying...
and restart inmediatly.. activesync disconnect.

I tried run RomUpdateUtility.exe but keep always with 260 ERROR, about USB cable.
I disconnect phone, wifi, etc. Sim card and Storage card are out and still same error.

I saw few post ago, ppl with my same problem, succesfull unlocking..
I just wanna know. How? step by step plz.
Im desperate because some ppl said that this phone cant be upgrade.

Model. HTC touch S1. 64 ram & 128 rom flash.

I have the same problem ... Nokia 3450 ELF0100 MADE IN CHINA.
I can not unlock CID, tried several versions of (elf-uspl.exe).

I am doing as follows:

Save the files (Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab) within the unit, ran the first Cert_SPCS.cab and then EnableRapi.cab.

I Reset (precionando both buttons volume up, power, camera and pressing with the stylus in reset). Enter bootloader appeared on the screen Master reset.

Then run (elf-uspl.exe), is no more gray on the screen.

I appreciate any help.

Great app, thanks a lot. It worked on first try on my Vodafone-branded ELF.

Just have patience and calm during the process, take the time to read the on-screen hints and you at least avoid human error in the process. :-P

when i try new elf_uspl-v1 for more time, i always see on the screen yellow penguin e green signature.
If before install enable-rapi, after second step elf_uspl
phone blocked, i can reset only!!!
Phone is marked HTC, but i can't enter in bootloader mode, and i can't hardreset with two buttons and stylus

Finally i did it. you must put the elf-uspl.exe in c:\ ,and the other two folders LOADER and RUU should be in c:\ and the content of the folders should be same as in the zip file.it takes several times to run uspl before is done.and now i am on WM 6.1 onyx

I'm confused by the instructions: First we flash the SPL to make me a super-user (OK, I understand that), then we flash the SPL again? That's kind of puzzling - how can I flash the SPL when I'm not a super user to make myself a super user, if in fact I need to be a super user to flash the SPL? Why not just one flash?

Maybe I don't need to know that, but now the phone screen is all grey/white (good), but I can't get RUU to work 'cos RUU thinks the phone is not connected. Actually, Activesync thinks the phone is not connected also, so no surprises there. In fact, even my PC (XP SP3) isn't convinced there is a legitimate device attached...

So if the device isn't connected, how can RUU flash it?

EDIT: OK, maybe I'm beginning to get the idea that I pay no attention to RUU, just keep trying till it works. But I'm still puzzled by the double flash...
EDIT: Right, flashed successfully. In fact, you have to NOT follow the RUU Wizard instructions, you just have to tick every box & keep going with your fingers crossed. Eventually it works. When the RUU Wizard says "Active Sync should be connected", Active Sync isn't, but the device is so the lack of ActiveSync can be ignored.

second step start... arrived at 75%... and on the phone start haRET.

searching in this forum I understand that haRET is such a linux bootloader...
1) I don't know why it is on the phone (but the phone is not mine... so...)
2) How I can remove it (or be able to perform a cid unlock) :(

I forget... after heRET start, my phone perform a soft reset. Another "scary" things... I perform an hard reset but haRET is still there!!!!! help me :eek:

Process was successful until RUU began and system was not able to connect to ActiveSync again. Now my computer does not recognize my Elf to ActiveSync as before, only as a media player. Any solutions to get the ActiveSync connection again? Thanks much.

If you flashed an Elf ROM it will say 64MB in the device information. Elfin ROMs will say 128MB.

If Yes plz explain how.. coz I've tried all possible roms available here tried every possible trick..

One good thing about my device.. how much ever i screw around with it.. if i soft reset it it will boot normally.. i've never bricked it till now..


When i try to flash a new rom i get only one message.. "image currupted".. i tried with different .nbh files.. i tried on different systems.. first three steps work fine but RUU never succeeds..

and if possible someone give me a link for the original WM6.1 ROM,

If I succeed in flashing WM6.1 to my elf then I would certainly donate to all the guys and gals who help me..

okay, i've been trying this for the past hour. The SPL is in c:\ELFIN_. In Step 2, i get to 15% before AutoSync dies and the SPL stops working. Nothing from renaming the folder to trying it several times has worked. Am I missing something? Can someone who has had this problem help me out? I have also tried following the specific directions in the "Avoid Confusion and Damage" thread, and still, it stops at 15% on step 2. Can anyone help me or point me to the post where this was answered?

yes, I have do it in start/settings/system/master clear whith code 1234.

When installing arrives at STEP 2/3 ... 15%... , the icon green activesync becomes gray and the installation stops. I cannot use my phone and have to reset with softreset

I had the same problem. The solution was to make a Master Clear (I can't make the hard reset with the buttons) and after that was possible to make the process, but only until RUU start because it can't communicate with the ELF.

hi i have the elf however anytime i put the .nbh file on the phone it disconnects everything, i tried to put it on the card and the screen came off and it did nothing, the hardspls never get the opportunity to install anything because it disconnects from the pc as the process begins what can i do?

Some ROMs (specially O2 Nova) don't allow to run unsigned applications by default and some people have reported difficulties installing USPL. If you see a popup asking to run unsigned code, you need to rapi-unlock your phone manually, to do this download enable-rapi.zip and follow the instructions inside the file prior to installing USPL.

Notes:
1. I have only tested under XP, people says it works on Vista too.
2. Unzip the file, do not run it on the zipped folder. (Note: Better to unzip in c:\ folder with no spaces on the name).
3. This will only CID unlock your device, not SIM unlock.
4. On some devices STEP 2 fails the first time, just hit CTRL+C, softreset your device and start over again.

I was getting the same problems (error 270) and this tip helped me fix it! I think it should definitely be included somewhere in the steps, to help problem-free flashing for others ;)

i fixed it....
installed the original rom after finding out the DID and CID, then it still did not start....

Had to run the RUU from a different hard SPL (SPL 3.07 i think), and then it finallly woke up !

Just a thought, but why don't you try get to a PC that has XP on it and do what you need from there...? Other that a whole other computer, perhaps an XP virtual machine through VMWare Server or MS Virtual PC would work; both are free applications, but then of course you will need the XP setup files / CD / CD image.... :rolleyes:

Ok i'll take you through exactly what I did... First I downloaded ELF_USPL-v1.zip (1.43 MB, 77923 views) and enable-rapi.zip (52.4 KB, 49828 views). Next I put the enable-rapi.zip files on my device and installed them. Everything went fine here. The when I run the USPL from my pc I get to step to at 15%....nothing happens its just stuck there. I then hit control+c and reset my device and try again and the same thing happens. If I try just the USPL without the rapi zip files on the phone I get to a screen that has a penguin avatar on it and it says praying.....then the phone restarts by itself and I try to flash the rom and my active sync disconnects and i get error 260 connection error.

That depends on whether you have a genuine Touch or a Touch clone; with the original Elf / Elfin, simply hold the camera button and turn on the phone (or soft reset if it's already on), and hold the camera button until you see the tri-colour boot loader.

The clones I'm not too sure of, but there are a couple threads around regarding that.. I think it's volume down + camera + reset? Not too sure, you might want to search for that one though...

Edit: There we go, just found it for you:
Clones enter bootloader by holding the volume slider UP and pressing reset. If you hold the volume slider up and hold the camera button and hit reset you can hard reset it.

I tried the solutions above to no avail....While the phone was on I held the volume slider up and hit the little reset button on the bottom of the phone with my stylus( the only thing that happened was the phone reset)...While the phone was off I tried the same method and the same results....I tried holding the camera button and turning the device on to no avail...i tried holding the camera + the reset button on the bottom of the phone to no avial...any ideas? Maybe there is a video somewhere showing how to do this? I've looked everywhere :(

EDIT: I have found that the problem doesn't arise in WMDC, I just flashed my htc excaliber with no problems...the problem I am encountering is the device is unable to enter into bootloader mode. Do all devices, clones or not, have bootloader mode? If not is there a way to add this application to the phone so I can enter it...

All devices would have a bootloader of some sorts, as far as I can tell, it's much like the BIOS on a desktop computer... If all else fails, extract and copy the attached file to your device and run from your WM device itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I don't know if this will work on clones or only original HTC devices, I'd highly recommend you make a backup of all important data on your device before you run it just in case, it works just fine on my ELF though, so give it a shot.

I own a HTC Elf and I followed your instructions but when it starts the ROMUpdateUtility in the package you uploaded it starts verifying but then it says:

The Update Utility cannon connect to your PDAPhone. Please check that your USB cradle/cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDAPhone.

Check the following:

1. The DPAPhone is connected to the USB cradle/cable.
2. The USB cradle/cable is connected to the PC.


And the screen of my phone is black with a little pinguin and the message "welcome to haret.".

Have I've done something wrong or why isn't it working?

You should be glad your device still works and you haven't bricked it yet.... You're trying to use an ELF unlocker on a Diamond. :confused: Try going to the correct forum area and looking for a CID unlocker there.

The Vogue and ELF are different phones, so it's not a 'Vogue Elf'; it's either a Vogue or it's an ELF/ELFin.

I only said that because I saw a 39 minute difference in post times, that's not likely from clicking a button twice..

Did you try the suggestions in the RUU Error Codes list for error 260? If you're sure the phone is connecting properly (ASync icon turns green, can browse phone memory through 'My Computer', etc), then try remove the SIM card and memory card and then connect it to the PC.

However, your last message now makes it sound like it's not even turning on anymore...? What exactly is it doing now?

Appears to successfully complete the steps where the HTC screen goes blank (white/grey?) and activesync goes offline. This state continues to hold for a long time (more than 10 minutes). The console window says:

I got my HTC ELF stuck in the bootloader screen without RUU in the top right, after unsuccesfully trying to update to a higher IPL / SPL. So I thought I could toss it, since I couldn't flash a ROM from this screen...

However, by unpacking the ELF_USPL folder from the file in Post 1, I could reflash back to the "original" USPL v1 by running the ROMUpdateUtility from the RUU folder, even without ActiveSync being active or detecting my device.

Fortunately, it rebooted the whole thing again from there and it's working again :D

will this patch work on a bricked HTC ELF? I have got a bricked HTC ELF with a tri-colour screen.(red, green and blue). I did try matty.exe and found that cid is locked because it says FF. I dont have the original firmaware backed up. and could not find anywhere on this site and internet.

My htc touch 3452 only boots in 3color mode , and also i'm unable to connect my pc active sync, so i'm not able to use your tool, can you tell me how can i get rid from this problem..

plus a can't conect to activesync (no green icon)

Every thing i try i get ERROR CODE 270

What can i do?
