Need help with touch.dll and Hermes

Hey guys,

I think we have now have finger flo on the hermes and trinity!!!

a friend of mine has sent me a modified touch.dll which works with finger flow, he has modified it for the trinity and hermes but cannot create a cab.

he is using a wizard and here is a video of it working, but he also has it working on trinity:

the modified touch.dll is attached, could someone look into creating a CAB as i am not to hot at doing this yet!!!

Hmmm...added the touch.dll to jj's and bepe's alpha cab and it doesn't work I'm afraid to say - it disabled the touch screen completely...I may have done something wrong but the fact that the touch screen stopped working suggested that the original touch.dll was overwritten by this one..

yep, touch screen is deactivated completely now...lol and i stupid forgot to backup the original touch.dll.......:)

Did you SR after applying the new DLL?

Yes I did do a SR :)

The original touch.dll is in ROM so if you can use the keyboard and buttons to get rid of the new one (I managed to navigate to add\remove and uninstall my cab) the old one will re-appear and start working again :) no HR needed :)

btw it somehow changed my htc home plugin...from 4 buttons to 3......lol

not sure how that happened unless you used a different version of the touchflo software cab - i used the alpha one and it left my 6-button HTC home intact...

the wizard touchdll isnt compatible with the Hermes touch screen different hardware.. already tried :)

Though it is funny to see threads like "TouchFLO working finally" and in it, some people got ButtonFLO working...kinda...sometimes.

The key thing here is that if you cook a rom with the touch.dll rom included, does the digitizer work once FWUPDATE runs? (screen cal). As we've seen so far with other dll's, when one is cooked in, it won't pass the second splash screen (IPL/SPL view).

If it will pass this test - then it is almost certain to work - assuming the edits to it won't affect any other applications that will need to hook it.

I can't play until tomorrow, but i'd be curious if anyone tries to cook it in.

The guy who gave me this dll has it working on trinity, he in fact was the fisrt person to get it working well and release it into A ROM of any kind, i think it was Wizard (or trinity cant remember), he told me that this is the dll he used, he cooked it into a ROM AND he has it working, He has released the ROM but it is in full italian.

but he is Italian, it is very hard for my to communicate with him as i am having to learn italian at the same time!!!

From what i gathered from conversation, is the following:

1) He modified this for Trinity/hermes
2) he cooked it into an italian ROM and it worked
3) he cannot create a CAB for it
4) he asked me if i could get it tested over here, so i have.

also it aint like i have been posting daily about this touch flo thing, but if someone PM's me and tells me that this is the answer to everything, which it possible could be as it works for trinity, i thought id take some time out from celibrating my brithday and post it for everyone to get into.

I dont believe him to be a liar, i asked him to work on this AGES ago, and he last night posted this to my via PM.

can someone with resco file explorer try copying this to there phone and giving the same permissions as original file and trying power off and/or soft reset and see if the touch screen still works. walshieau suggested this yesturday before i tried cooking it into my rom like schaps did and finding it doesnt go past 2nd splash. the file explorer in my rom(black satin normal base) seems like after i give same permissions minus rom doesnt allow touch screen to work.

Yeah, that would suck if you didn't bother releasing files that no one else managed to get, I don't know how anyone could live without this much important .dll, or the other stuff you have posted lately, it is such valuable info...oooo I better start making backups of it all, just incase.

It sounds a little.... weird... that a cook (such as your Italian frriend) wouldn't know how to make a simple cab file ? Even someone as myself who only started playing with PPCs a few months ago, knows how to make a cab file.:p

Hey, I completely appreciate people making more info and software available for others, who are more technical, can have a go at it and make something.

However, I will note 2 things:
1. Getting it to work on the Trinity is not getting it to work on the Hermes. They are different. Just like you can't take a Trinity ROM and assume it will work on a Hermes ROM. And you posted this in the Hermes WM6 forum. You treat the 2 devices like they are the same "Trinity/Hermes". They are different enough to warrant more than a slash between them.

2. Your thread title was the object of my ire, err sarcasm. You (I assume unintentionally) made lots of people look and read thru alot of stuff to find out it still doesn't work on a Hermes. If you had posted under "New Touch.DLL that works on Trinity" it would have been much more accurate.

So, again, sharing info is good. Trying to foster collaboration is good. Getting new pieces into the right hands is good. Inaccurate and misleading thread titles, not so good.

There's already enough to read on this site. keeping up with the interesting threads is a full time endeavor as it is. (Also think of the impact on searches when you have bad titles)

So, thanks for updating the title.

Did it work for you when you tried the dll before posting it?

(I'm not being abusive or trying to start anything.. the threads hot enough as it is :) just wondering because I assume if you posted it it must have worked for you.. i'd quite like to get it working. That said I also agree that the trinity screen is a different device and will have a different driver so it may need major modification to work with hermes)

It could be so - I downloaded a touch.dll from wizard thread here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320335) and the filesize is the same with yours. For me it looks like he has sent you a Wizard touch.dll. Good luck with getting a working one.

I have spoken to him, he realised that he has sent the wrong dll, he has the correct one and he said this:

"COMUNQUE HO ESAMINATO BENE IL FILE TOUCH.DLL E CI SONO DIVERSI PROBLEMI"

which translates to:

"HOWEVER I HAVE EXAMINED ROWS IN TOUCH.DLL WELL AND THERE ARE VARIOUS PROBLEMS"

so from this i can only say to you that he knows wat the errors are, and if he knows that he will be able to fix them.
