text messaging alert sound

Is there a way to change the text messaging alert sound to something i make up? From my computer,

1. does it have to be mp3 or midi or wav?
2. where do i save the file so it will show up as one of my audio options....

Put a sound file into your \windows directory, go into settings/personal/sounds & notifications, I'll assume you can figure it out from there.

That is where you are to place custom ringtones, and i believe that they appear for Text Messages too...just not for Alarms :)

for it to work it has to be a .wav
