I have done this and it works a treat, however, because I'm on t-mobile in the UK it seems to think I'm roaming because I accidentally ran the Networking wizard and selected Opus in Australia or somewhere.

Any idea how I can get it back to thinking it's a UK phone? (I have set everything in the settings Region, Network etc unless I missed something)

a Bug is in there - when using the LOCK feature, having an application open, switching off and switching on again, you get returned to the home screen after a couple of anoying delays and some screen flickering.

and that's bad for me as I have to lock the device due to Exchange Remote Activesync (the company's security certificate requires to activate the lock).

I have tried to unlock rom (by using ELF_USPL-v1)
in final step (that screen has got blank (white) screen) and when progressbar in my pocket pc come to 100% it restarted automatic and I have seen this messege while locking (attached)

some time become 2% in progressbar and restart automaticly

curious to know from everyone using the BigStorage w/out Ext. Rom, if they noticed that the when going into the "Remove Program" app, nothing shows up (no installed programs show up). Don't know if it's just my device, but aside from that everything is working fine.

P.S. One other thing, anyone updated to the newest HTC Home 5/6 Tab Pluggin Ver. 2 and noticed that the "Backlight App/Brightness" when pinned/selected as a shortcut in the pluggin does not work/respond.

Best thing to do is read the threads here about this rom and the uspl topic by pof. That way, you'll learn a lot.
Once you flash: you will loose everything on your device (except what's on your memorycard if you have one installed), it's like a hard-reset, but in this case you flash an entire operationsystem instead of 'just' letting the existing operating system restore its factory defaults...

Hey, I am using 55Mb ROM + 4mb Pagepool, I also experience "Sleep To Death" couple of time so far (didn't really bug me as it doesn't happen very often comparing to the benefit I am getting from the new rom). Not too sure if this has anything to do with the rom update. Could be caused by some 3rd party software?

For Megaupload, if you download and install the Megaupload toolbar (used in IE7), that annoying message will not appear.

I just tried to flash my HTC Touch with
TouchRom1.11.407.1B_GER_BigStorage4mPagepool_NoExt Rom
First did the CID unlock and than started the german rrom update utility. My computer crashed (WinXp), the htc touch screen shows a penguin and the message "welcome to haret". now the device istn't recognized as a usb device and neither cid nor the the upodate utility works.
What should I do?

Once you flash your device the ROM you load IS your "factory settings".

Flashing overwrites any previous ROM.

You are right, that makes sense to what a ROM is for. Anyway anyone who like to reflash the ROM to original HTC, you can download it from HTC website by registering and entering the member club section. You can find the ROM for wasabi and soft black edition of Touch

Still kind of skeptical with the without ext ROM version as I don't want any unexpected conflicts to occur later, will try the 1st version.

I am new to how registry works on the phone or PC. Just another question on registry. If right now I have keyboard input software like Touch PhonePad and I have changed the registry so that my default keyboard is PhonePad. So after flashing a totally new ROM, I wonder if I am still able to change the default keyboard after I reinstall PhonePad. (I know I can use sprite backup or whatever to restore settings on totally new/different ROM)

Meaning, I am clueless about how registry works. Like how are the values set? Is the values tied to software? ie. a software installed in ROMs of different versions, will the values be different, specifically to keyboard sip/default input?

Just upgraded to the BS ROM 1.11.707.1B WWE - BigStorage. The storage memory has increased and everything else is fine. But the GPRS wont connect.

I have tried to manually input the GPRS settings for Airtel - India as well as installing the settings from the network wizard extracted from the Ext-Rom, but no luck. Everytime, I try to use the GPRS , I get an error or it simply wont connect. ( See attached Screen shot).

Has anyone experienced this issue and is there any solution at hand for this?.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the ExtROM is still worth keeping, only need a smaller partition, the original is 10MB, the Bigstorage-with-ExtROM is good enough, but if the ExtROM can be reduced to 3MB and free up the wasted 7MB will be better.

No it's not. Or at least i don't agree with it.
I've seen some users having problems Flashing USPL back on, and some even not getting it back on at all.

Yes i'm using it and i got over it but i would tell any regular flasher to do it.

For me it even resulted in the first ever Blue screen on an HTC device (no i wasn't doing drugs). If it can save headaches and posts like... My Touch is dead. Not everyone is persistent enough and knows that if you can get into bootloader, you can fix it with Hocus Pocus.

I made a backup with sprite backup just before flashing. Then after flashing I 1st installed sprite backup and did the restore procedure. All programms and data restored successfully in my case.

Sprite Backup does not always work when restoring on a different OS version.
Focus on Pim Backup for your contacts, mail and agenda and start figuring out how to run you apps from Storage Card.

Oke it's time that the Elf thread starts picking up on some basic thing.

1. Use your signature to put your IPL SPL Radio EXT rom and Rom version.
This way troubleshooting is easier because we now what's on your device.

IPL 1.17 sucks. Maybe you need to reflash your Original Providers Rom to get device back to stock. I'm able to flash everything running SPC and so are many others. I'm not covering for myself. But When flashing goes wrong it's rather related to SPL/IPL then OS.

I've tried a few ROMs but finally ended up with this one. It is older, but so far for what I use I haven't had any problems, very stable, enough memory and ram also works good. I figured for now enough flashing and hard resets, until I find something that doesn't work and I really need; that is, unless I change my mind tomorrow :-)

Hey... Thanks a lot for jumping into this... I already tried to both soft and hard reset it, but nothing happened. It'll always start on the same screen just like in the picture...
The progress bar shows up every 5 or 6 times that I try to run the app, but it hangs in 0%, and the app throws me 2 types of error msg... "266" and "264"

Any other ideas?

You are correct. I did it without properly running CID Unlock previously...:confused:

The errors that I was getting were in the range from 264 until 270... but all of them were referred to the lack of connectivity between the app and my phone...

I had flash with success, and use backup to restore the previous programs.

I had both spb backup and spriteBackup, the spritebackup did not start. So i use the spb backup. after the 1st restore, the device seems ok but only the calendar/emails don't work (said corrupted) and the phone shows so service. Just restore the spb backup again with (select the PIM only) and it is done.

Now i am going to test it, willpost if any problem found.

Hi tmantis.. Windows Vista sucks big time! I encountered the same problem. Do two things:

1) Click Start-->Settings-->Connections-->USB to PC and tick "Enable advanced network functionality" if it is not already so.

2) Restart Windows Vista and try re-syncing the device.

if you are doing something wrong Vista is sometimes not able to synchronize the phone ... for that you need to both restart the phone and the computer ... and sometimes do even more than that ... it's not really about Vista because when I have had this issue with Vista it was not working on XP too ... it's more about active sync that is blocked because the phone has been deconnecting while active sync was trying to do something.

Thanks for sharing, koala... I always have this problem with Windows Mobile Center in Vista but doesn't have an issue with Activesync in XP. It could be just me then...:confused:

I have tried all of you suggestions prior to posting my inquiry. However, I did manage to get my phone to sync with vista by doing a custom restore with an older back up that I crated with SPD Backup. I restored everything except system data and that solved my problem. :D

Yes, you may flash any rom anytime you want including original rom. I did that many times.

No, it will not. You can only flash ROM for HTC Touch Enhanced

Hi everybody,
I've bought a "new" T-Mobile MDA Touch on eBay but this "new" phone came blocked on a white T-Mobile screen "OS 4.0.0.0" :(
When i try to flash it in BL mode, it shows : IPL 1.13.002 and SPL 1.13.0000.
I tried several rom's found on this forum (and other too) but the upgrade always hangs (error 270 or 244).
I think that the previous user tried to flash it without CID unlock, cause of the problems, and that I need a V1.13 original version to save my phone.
Does somebody have this ROM ?
Is there another solution to save the phone ?

After update I have:

used 5.81MB
free 49.12MB

My two cents (please add to the first post for everybody):

remember before CID update to remove BOTH SIM card and SD card
keep attention while CID updating that after step 2 you NEED to have the Elf screen WHITE and Activesync tray icon grey BEFORE going on with step 3. In the case, soft reset the Elf and restart CID update.

No need - just install HTC Network Settings available here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1645355&postcount=2)
It picks up the provider from your SIM and configures everything automatically.

Not just because i made it but because it works from SD keeping your rom memory clean and faster.

And you can always use it if Cooks started using the right registry keys.

So they don't need to cook it and you always have acces to it. and you can even use your own provision.zip file from your locale.

go to htc.com and register to be part of the e-club...its free. then go to downloads and then choose your device. they have a fix for that.

jus tried this rom. actually been tryin a lot of roms here lately. and by far this rom is so coooooooool. ofcourse this is an old rom....but now i know why its still like gold. cos the storage is 55mb with 4mb pagepool, so what more can u ask

anyhoo flashed after readin some of the comments that says they had some problems, and mentioned below are the ones mainly i saw. but i have to say, for the sake of any other downloader of this rom.....i never faced these problems. and i mark these as WORKING for reference purpose...

*cube contacts disappearing after soft reset. WORKING!
*windows media not able to play mp3. WORKING!
*audio manager not opening. WORKING!
*gprs not connecting. WOKRING!
*activesync not connecting or synching with vista. WORKING!

some complained that activesync keeps starting randomly. but if you have performed a hard reset just after flashing this rom, u wudnt face this prob. atleast for me i have no issues with activesync.

great rom all the way!!! no junk and no extra stuff added also. and this rom is super stable with memory circulation!!

This wasn't a custom made rom.

It's simply an original without Ext Rom.

So since there is no official 6.1 version for touch there really isn't anything to make !

It might be an idea though as porting original Roms to WM6.1 is do-able.

But Seksona hasn't been around for a big while. So you prolly should be asking someone else.

Well it's nothing your doing wrong, it's just a crappy olde Big storeage Rom with Driver issues.

Recommend looking for a German 2.2+ Rom instead.

Big storeage Roms in the Old days (less then a year ago ;)) where just made, they weren't tested they weren't cooked and tweaked.

If your going to Upgrade Look for the Merlot or Bordeuax Roms from Pike Crew (like the Bleu one Best)

I want to Update my Elf but it doesn`t run. Always the same. Manual Unlock with enable_rapi and elf_uspl . The starting the Bootloader, klicking "Update". Then the Elf switches the screen to a red green blue stripped screen and then i get an error message by the Bootloader on the PC "Error 266 no Connection"

Where i have to look for the Problem :(

edit : Omg ... i think i wracked the Elf =( Now i cant start the Elf. I Only get this Screen :
