This is my first contribution to XDA-Developers.com.

Hopefully, you guys will be happy with this rom. You will get EXTRA 15mb Free Storage & EXTRA 4mb Program Memory space comparing to the original dopod official rom.

This rom is base on current Dopod Touch Official Rom 1.11.707.1B. I just reconstructed the original rom with Tadzio ImgFS Tools and edited setting in the OS.nb to 4mb Pagepool.

You can flash this rom from bootloader mode or ActiveSync mode by using the attached "romUpdateUtility.exe" file.

Yes! I didn't remove anything and this rom is WWE version. As I said, all applications will be as same as the original HTC version (Ext.Rom also same and remain). The advantage you will gain is Extra Space and Memory. :)

I'll wait until I cook my own ROM with updated ROM (mine was from 6/21 oppose to 5/24) and I would like to fill some of that space by taking out a few programs and installing a few so then I get all the programs I want even after hard reset. But thanks for this great ROM, I'll try it if I need to hardreset anytime soon.

Yes that would be awesome just to shrink the ROM which is already on the phone. There is no RUU.exe at all for my german ROM to extract the .nbh.

Is it possible to make this with a dumped ROM?

i have tried to do first cif unlock but the problem is that when i do the bootloader i get conection of usb but the active sync isnt green (no firawall antivirus or nothing is workinig

We changed from 8 MB to 4 MB so we get more for RAM instead of PP. 8 MB PP should run certain programs faster but 4 MB will let you run more programs.

The update worked flawlesly.

The device seems to be stable and performing OK.

I moved from the Dutch ROM to this one.

Have not tested the Dutch rom for longer then 20 minutes, so it is hard for me to compare.

You should know by now that after installing new RON you do not restore a previous backup! Applications claim to restore but you always end up corrupting the new ROM :rolleyes:

Look for HTC gray in the windows folder and set it as background picture. Then with the htc default still selected, remove the tick from the set picture as today screen box in setteings>today. You may get the original dark background again after a soft reset. That is what worked for me :cool:

I unlocked CID and flashed the new ROM without any problems !!

The only issue was to restore the original black skin as it was blue after flashing. But thanks to victoradjei who described how to bring it back. Worked perfect for me.

The only downer is that the language has switched from DE to US/UK. But I would lie if I say that I didn't expect this to happen. Developers, please provide your further updates in 40 languages. :)

Nobody can answer fully that is why you need to search :cool:

This is my noob understanding. Discard it or believe it :rolleyes:

Simply it is the "inaccessible" storage where the additional configuration files are stored on the device. That is what comes alive after you do the settings after hard reset (dont ask waht it is ;) ) and installs additional software. It is omitted in this verion, but supplied separately so you can d/l to your storage card and click on the files manually to install. Thus saving the space for your own storage.

Read the wiki, and search.

Never ever try to restore old backups after flashing. This is a common rule and should be known by everyone who is being thinking about flashing his device. You have to start from scratch and if you think you can restore all your programms that took you soooo long to configure, you're trippy. I would advice to save a configuration file manually (some software do this by exporting settings) and import it after reinstalling. If this is not an option, you have to reinstall and reconfigure your software.

If people should try to help you, there is more information needed about the steps you took so far. Before installing phone dialer programs you should make sure flashing was completed correctly. This can be done /wo any installation of additional software as they will normally not add functions to the device but tweak them.

Understood. Thanks. I used the program to flash my ROM to increase my memory. Everything went well. When i went to change the phone dialer i used a cab program (zphone) and it installed perfectly.I did a soft reset and when i looked at my dialer i can see the zphone dialer under the grey dialer from the ROM flash.

Hey man, a BIG THANKS to you again!!! Am downloading it as I am writing this. :)

I had earlier flashed the other upload you have provided and restored from backup with success. Didn't face any problem restoring from backup after flashing, unlike some members had in this thread. I don't see why this can't be done if the ROM version is the same.

I am going to re-flash with this 2nd upload. It was easy the first time, so it isn't too much trouble for me to do it again. Will be a good practice for me as I have another 2 Touches to flash after my own one. :)

Sprite backup comes bundled with Touch, but I prefer Spb Backup. Had it scheduled for daily backups, retaining 3 backups at a time. So far I, no problem restoring after a hard-reset.

Be aware that backup is good only if you restoring onto same ROM after hard-reset. Only Spritre Backup provides you option to restore onto newly flashed ROM after from backups from older ROMs (same language that is).

I simply set that message to 'Do not show again'. After that my device simply would connect to my network (T-Mobile NL).

then ran the RomUpdateUtility, followed the steps, it asks if I want to update my rom, I get the 'updating the RTOM' on the OC, the phone switches to the 'colors' screen but then the PC comes up with:

Error 266 UPDATE ERROR
The Update Utility cannot get response from your PDS phone.

Did you perform the step to unlock the CID on your phone before flashing the ROM? If not, please follow this thread to do it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320155.

If you had, I would suggest doing a hard reset and try again, because that will clean up any bad registry that may cause ActiveSync not to work properly.

Just to confirm if your problem is an isolated one, I just tested with mine, and I do not experience the same problem you have described....I tried it using Music Player and was able to turn volume up and down (all the way down, and the music can't be heard). The only stuff that was removed is the extended_rom. A kind soul has place a link for the content of the extended_rom here for us to download, so that you can selectively choose to install programs from it if you want to.I didn't bother, as most of it is useless, maybe except Cyberon Voice Commander, and since I live in Asia, the phone operator customization app in the extended_rom is useful for me.

If there is a newer ROM version, then if somebody is kind enough to "cook" up the rom for BigStorage again, then we will always be up to date. :)

Seriously I think the main storage space and RAM on the Touch is simply pathetic!!! So it's really very welcoming to have an extra 25Mb for storage (some apps doesn't allow to be stored on Storage Card), and an extra 4Mb of RAM for running apps (looks like WM6 is still plagued with memory leak problem like in WM2003 and WM2005, especially after an ActiveSync session!!!).

just to help out some other users while i was trying to flash my device i kept getting a white screen. well it's suppose to do that just run the romuu and ignore the second screen in the romuu that says you need to have a green activesync. flash the device from the image to the spl file.

If you do a backup (either using Sprite Backup or Spb Backup, I use the latter) before you flash it, then you don't have to re-config everything again, unless the ROM version you have currently is different from the ROM version provided in this thread. After flashing, just restore from backup! Viola!!! It worked well for me, and I have already flashed 2 Touch(es) this way, took me less than 10 mins each.

Note : For restoring backup over newer ROM, Sprite Backup has an option to allow restore over newer ROM than what was backed up. Personally I have not tried this, but I have a friend who said he tried it with success.

Just to confirm if your problem is an isolated one, I just tested with mine, and I do not experience the same problem you have described....I tried it using Music Player and was able to turn volume up and down (all the way down, and the music can't be heard). Actually I think I did not put myself too clearly.... I am more concerned with in call volume...

As I always chat with my friends with speaker on, esp. with my gf.. which is like everyday affair for a duration not less than an hour... I can feel and hear the difference...

While I was using the original ROM, when I turn the volume down during calls, it is still quite acceptable when down to the minimum...

But now, even to the minimum, the speaker is still blasting away... -.-

Perhaps the reception was too good today....

Anyway I am playing around with the registry AUDIOGAIN and learning certain things now... I will try it again tomorrow...

It's so strange, the lastest ROM found on Dopod Asia Website is

Off track a bit, I noticed the LCD display on my dad's Touch is a lot brighter (same brightness level setting), and the colour is more accurate (meaning black is more black) than the one I have. There is a significant difference when I place his and mine side by side. Overall, mine appeared more "purplish" than his. Looks like HTC has improved or use better LCD on the newer batches.

Uhm, after flashing with this rom (the one with ext rom), I can't connect to a pc anymore: activesync gives an error without details. In XP, I can browse the device but not setup a sync in activesync, and on a Vista pc, mobility center gives an error without the ability to browse the device. Plus: while browsing the device in XP, I can't copy files to the device...

ANy ideas?

You flashed with "BigStorage" version of firmware.
If you want 55Mb of storage, you must flash "BigStorage w/o Extended Rom"

A german version has not been made yet. Perhaps this will be available in all languages later on as more people get to use the kitchen and cook their own ROMs.

well this is actually what I wanted to do do, but as far as i understood you cant rip the data off the device so you need a rom which isnt available, correct me if I am wrong ... but I am curious about side effects maybe it doesnt work but then prevents to restore the original rom state and stuff like that ..

The ROM will work and if its rare to get your device bricked during the process if you do things correctly, more specifically, boot with the right ROM. You can recover even if the flashing process did not go well. Make sure you follow the checklist before going to the next step in the setup. As for the original ROM, you can only reflash with whatever ROMs you can find, the ROM you flash with will go over the ROM the device come with so unless you have it elsewhere, you will lose it.

No there isnt at the moment. You can use this guide to change your page pool back to 8 MB, but honestly, you wont notice the "speed" difference. In fact, I doubt there is a need of 8 MB page pool at all. 4 MB is more than enough and I think what is slow is the processor so you might as well look into overclocking the OMAP instead of changing the page pool. See if that helps first.

Hi i've made raw dump Rom from my italian unbrand Touch
(only updated to the latest GSM radio module), but i'm not sure about whic partition are necessary for great friend Seksona to make modification of this rom (of curse if him want and have time to do this)and add another language to modified rom version.
If will be necessary the ramain 2 partition i'll do the dump of it.

Just flashed with Seksona ITA package and it works as promise, good work friend!!

Just one tip for those people having "ERROR [270]:......" i got the same error first time run 'CID Unlocker' and i've resolved removing my microSD card BEFORE run again this utility.
After that 'CID Unlocker' work fast and without errors and the Rom update too.

I don't know if will work for other user,on mine solved any problem.

After fix this error i've made my Rom dump in few minute just executing this command in command window:

FYI: If you want to change your theme you can do it through the registry too.

I did the CID unlock successfully and tried to update my htc touch (WWE HK Version) using the RUU.

However, whenever it progresses to 3% it always says The Rom is Corrupted.

I was using the rom from
WWE HK Version (Rom : 1.15.721.1B WWE CE OS 5.2.1238 Build 17745.0.2.3) [Base Rom from : lewisleung ]

I did try this one as well but without luck.

I wish I knew how to make a dutch version, I know how to do the pagefile, it is just a Hex edit. The big storage is out of my knowledge. If there were instructions I will do it :)

What don't you get? One says 707 and one says 721 making them different.

If WWE is English, then what do you think HK stands for?

Well, it worked great. I don't bother about the english language, it's good enough. Sometimes Activesync gives me some problems, sometimes I see an error, but can still connect to the device. Sometimes it doesnt load and most of the time it works perfect...

I realy like that I have more storageroom, but I don't see any noticeble performance increases. But the storage alone and the more ram is nice enough :) But also, please make a dutch version of it, I still like it in dutch as well :)

Also, when I enable WIFI while its connected to the PC, it goes on and immidiatly after that goes off..It wasnt before.

I first run the unlock programme, then run the rom (does this include a ruu) then i run the unlock programme again and I should have a fully functioning device with the original htc look is this correct?

I then only need to reinstall my programmes contacts etc and chage my network settings for email?

I dont fully understand this changing the storage etc on the rom, does it have any bad effects on the rom because I wonder why htc dont do it if it improves performance?

You only need to run the enable-rapi if upi have issues running the CID unlock.

You run the CID unlock and then you Flash the ROM you want.

The ROM that comes with the Touch has things that are not needed and space in the extended ROM that you cannot get to normally. The updated ROM lets you take advantage of the extra space.

You installed the ROM with the extended ROM. There was one without the extended ROM that would have given you the 55.

You should be able to get all your settings on xda. Where are you located and which T-Mobile are you using?
