Here is the post for Herms:

I installed it on mogul, the "wlan" is not working. The author told me that the registry needs to be adjusted due to the difference between the hardware.

Can someone fix it for Mogul? I am not a IT guy.

thanks.

Dittos - is there someone that can look into the registry tweak. Would love to get this working as well.

Its not a registry tweak.
The WLAN is controlled by a physical hardware switch on the Titan (its that little switch on the left hand side of the device).
Can you imagine a comm manager that automatically makes that switch move on the side? Would it move by magic, because last I checked there isn't a motor underneath it...

It may be possible to disconnect the WLAN toggle, but that's more complicated and may require you to open up and start soldering inside your phone....

Give it up. Why would you rather use the comm manager than the switch anyway?

Yep - actually I discovered I had the switch off (duh) and was coming back here to amend my post. When the switch is on, you can indeed go into commgr and shut it off too...

So it does work for me. Forgot that there was a switch - so used to the 6700!

BTW, funny post Dishe - a motor to move the switch. Heh.

I think you guys are right. There is no need for a WLAN since mogul alredy got a hard switch for it.

It would be nice if we could reassign the function of the wlan hardware switch. I would set it up like my old Treo to make is a ringer/vibrate switch.

I'd go for remapping the wlan switch. Since I've got the unlimited data, I rarely turn the wifi on. I'd rather be able to control that via software and use the hard switch for ring/vibe.

Hope springs eternal I guess

if you could change the wifi button on the 10-button comm manager to write either 1 or 11 to hlm\system\state\hardware\wifi dword you could turn the wifi on / off.

well.. maybe turn it on / off but it still doesn't seem to want to connect.. just turns on the little wifi icon on the top. : )

I think the WiFi switch is not software configurable. I think HTC designed it to be a physical toggle to cut the power to the WLAN chipset, so that's all it will ever do, unless as I stated earlier, someone opens it up and surgically re-wires it to be a new programmable button.
That would be nice, but unlikely. Then again, I could be wrong about how it works...

The fact that it can be software-controlled when the switch is on (can be toggled on/off with the comm manager), but not when the switch is off (WLAN options does nothing when the switch is off), makes my theory a reasonable explanation for how it works.

Sorry folks. Nothing to see here...

This thread may be dead, and everyone may already know this, but just in case

No2Chem's latest preview rom includes nueWifiSwitch which allows the user to change the functionality of the Titan's wifi hardware switch.

I have mine to on = Ringer On and off = Vibrate and I love it.

Here is a link to the announcements thread in the ppcgeeks forum about it
