yes, I agree with you, but for now, we have to wait, in near future, I think we all can have all italian roms in \oem and \sys folders, ready to be dumped, modified, and to be greater, but for now, have wait some times, I'll be the 1st to post a complete rom in oem\ sys\ rom\ and big-storage. sorry.....

P.S.: I have to make greetings to udk for the files missing into ing 3.37, I used them by udk 4.0 to restructure in oem and sys folder ing 3.37!!! but if I used other, by bepe 4 example, the result was the same, no mui, there were more useless!!!

Bepe itself (main author of the kitchen tool) has been the first one to protect his work in this way... This new way to protect roms came from him, so we can't complain with ervius becouse of this.

And maybe we can't complain with cookers too: in the erlier release of lasagna for example, Guybrush wrote that modification were allowed for personal use; later some people have published their rom based on lasagna... You can understand is not so nice to find your work with some one else name...
But we still have a lot of rom to modify, first of all the original dopod one.
Ok, they are wwe, but the last post of ervius just give us a good italian rom based upon last xip from bepe.. Not bad!

There are two mainly reason... first the "protection" I used on my ROM is not a real protection because you can still dump modify it and build it again.. yes you can't use bepe kitchen directly as before but that system allow me to have about 1 Mbyte of storage more that's one of the reason I'm using it.

The second because I think there should be a bit of respect before publish something, when I began my ROM I used the Dopod SEA WWE as base, I had to search compatible mui from emulators and others wm6 translate some of them when they not good, edit all registry from english to italian, change all the files from english to italian a very long process to improve this rom day by day... I started Lasagna 20/07 and only today 14/09 I published the final version... During these days (near 2 months) I had to solve many kind of troubles... how to set the italian keyboard... extended rom, big storage and many other little things that take me time... and each time I had to modify something and reflash my device to test it so you can't really understand all the time need this process of translation and improve and fix bugs.

After my first lasagna, two new dopod based rom was born (very quickly) and I had more than one suspect they was based on my work but I closed my eyes and I continue on my way but from that moment I started to sign my files in some way. As many others I look the files inside the other ROMs and when I found something that I need I ask for it... the most stupid example is the translation file of HDSPA switch that was present only in bepe german ROM and I ask him to include a italian version on my ROM. Other guys didn't the same way with me and also udK... they open us roms take all and publish their ROM... "Ohhh yes this ROM is better and bla bla" I just want that If you take something at least ask for it before publish and say "This is my personal ROM based on...." I think there's nothing of bad to say that. I don't have troubles to share my works with other and I shared many files and many information also with ervius and udK, udK asked me mui of WLM and I gave it to him and many other, and when I had a trouble I asked him and he helped me...that is the right and good way to collaborate and solve issues... And make me really sad see a new ROM that is few more than a copy... with many of my files without nobody ask me for them and with some ugly way to hide the know issues of the base rom... that the second reason my ROM is not easily usable with bepe kitchen and I ask in my thread to use my ROM just for make personal copies... because there is no sort of respect and there are a lot of stupid guys that pollute other thread to day "ohhh this ROM is better than this while maybe the most of work is taken from that ROM". Now I'll stop to make ROMs mostly for this because I've loss motivations to continue do it.

J will never cook a rom, but you understand, personalize a rom that is full of iusses is not only useless, it's stupid.

I've done experiments with the second one....
Very clean rom, builds easy. My final OS.nb is just 49,2 MB. But the most useful things are all the registry tweaks you put in the package directory

packages are stored into \packages\ folder, while oem\ sys\ and rom\xip\ folder are located near .nb files, you can work locally, and have ever your preferred packages into hands!! ;)

This is a beautiful toll but doesn't work very well for me.

1) When I select "Open .nb file" it works ok until we have the dump folder, but afther it search the windows.nd.dump folder but we have the dump folder
2) The extraction of XIP doesn't work. It give me an error.

no, no big storage, only patched dll for writeable ext-rom, if enabled! :)
starting with calendar instead of calendario in down-left side in today, but I didn't traslate all becouse I would that you make them by you, to work, to learn, to know what and where to do!!, a kind of "home-work", all you need is into rgus files, if have problems, tell me!! ;)
example, in some rgus, you find "my Pictures", instead of "Immagini", etc.....

select the name and cut, delete, by attenction is coded in unicode!! ;)

1; what you mean modify a dsm file?? for what??, you have to use a n hex editor.
2; insert into config.txt a line:
cab: \windows\your-own-cab.cab

is a log file that is composed by name of dsm and package, if you see into it you can see that it contains a list of all packages into the map, packages and dsm of packages!!

I'm reading you post from YOUR ROM and Opera... I'm sure I've miss a lot during past days, but I can't beleave this post.
You have done a wonderful job and I really hope this not the end.
Even if I don't know you, it seem to me that the spirit of your work (with no paypal, no silly protagonism, collaborative...) is at least as important as your software and your guide. If you feel this thread is, sometimes, poor of messages, maybe it's because people is just listening as a student listen to a teacher...
If you want and have to do something else, well, your choice, but you can just post something once a mount, 4 example... don't let your work uncompleted with a beta version, it's simply too good to end in this way.

The most interesting thing about these forums is how people concieve their importance, the reality is that several developers (not cooks..developers) have had the smarts and the good intentions to share their knowledge with everyone, these guys that have created great tools are at the top of the food chain because every thing they have done has led to an active community revolving around the abilities they have given for we mere mortals to play with our toys and destroy family relationships in the process :). then you have the "Senior cooks" that are very good at squeezing the best out of these tools, followed by the intermediates then the beginners then the gonna be's then the bottom of the food chain the wanna be's.

So we have our food chain, now in every open market there is going to be the sharks and bottom dwellers feeding on others efforts these things we have to learn to live with in an open environment.

What I hate more than anything is this type of thread , someone reiterates others works blandly criticises people that are actual keen to help beginners learn (look at ROM Donalds and some of the comments made there) and then is under the delusion that we all should be humble before him. Here's a thought close this thread so it doesnt keep getting bumped and in my way.

open this dsm file using a hex editor:

after 0x003C you will see something like:
05 00 01 00 D0 07 FF 39
that’s the OS version and build

for xip porting I've found source of bepe's xipporter.exe, and I'm working on, to make better and easyer the xip porting on trinity os.nb!! ;

yes, don't use this steps, use xipporting integrate in my buildos....
is better and don't have blocks.....
the facts is that with xipport,k and xipport modified by me, you have to work with the payload file, not directly by os.nb..... and using realloc "P" changes 1 byte into xip_out.bin, sincerelly I don't nkow what the button do, but I never success with xipport (maibe 1 times with the xipport modified by me in 1st post of this 3d.... if I'm not wrong...)
the "extra" bytes into os.nb broke all operationd made by xipport importing xip into "os.nb" becouse os.nb in hermes=os.nb.payload in trinity rom!! ;)

Well, your bepes modified tool seems very great, integrating the package creator and the buildOS from NB and dump, but don't work for Kaiser, cause sector is 800 in size instead 200 ... and tadzio tools need to be upgraded to 2.1rc2, that support the kaiser extraction and creation (you can see this in tadzio thread on hermes forum).

If you can add Kaiser support will be great. The tool looks promising...
You can find the KaiserKitchen on my signature if you want more info about Kaiser specific tools.

Hi everyone.

I think this is my first post on the forum, as I normally do alot of reading (or is it lurking???) before asking any questions. Most of the time I can find an answer to any queries i may have in this fantastic forum.

Right then, I have been trying to use the tools in this thread to recook a personal rom for myself from Hellonasty's latest WWE 3.4 (awsome rom by the way! Well done). Basicly, all im trying to do is dump the rom, and change the Arcsoft SMS/MMS version to the old one with the combined SMS/MMS inbox. I dump the rom using nbhtool, then use the build os and package tools 2.7, to create packages. I then remove the existing Arcsoft mms 4 folder from the Sys folder,and use build os to re-add the old combined inbox version of Arcsoft.

1)after creating packages from the dump, there are a couple of folders left outside the oem, sys rom folders. Where do these need to be put?

2)Is there any chance the instructions on the first post can be updated so that they correspond to the latest build Os and package tools 2.7? I think i may be doing something wrong with the Xip part (to do with the xip porting...if i need to do this at all???).

Sorry if i have made any mistakes in the above post, as I am rushing abit due to having to go out in a bit to the footie.

Now this is confusing... I did not even add extended ROM into the NBH I created which means that my extended ROM should not be altered in any way during flashing. However, after flashing, the extended ROM became empty.

insert into storage card the cabs that you want to install...
example:
installthis1.cab;installthis2.cab

into config.txt, you can insert theese lines:
cab: \storage card\installthis1.cab
cab: \storage card\installthis2.cab

maybe for italin users it became:
cab: \scheda di memoria\installthis1.cab
cab: \scheda di memoria\installthis2.cab

there is nothing wrong with nbh. try flashing your device with a different radio from the trinity guides website without touching your dopod ROM, and you will see that it will become empty also.

Okay, after weeks of searching, I found this info on trinity big storage:

(DEV = your ROM Kitchen)
- replace DEV\ROM\OS.nb by a 0.76 OS.nb
- extract the XIP section from the 0.76 OS.nb to DEV\ROM\XIP
- delete DEV\OEM\OEMDrivers\OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL

How to do it yourself:
(1) nb file: 0x000001F5: short value + 0x48 (e.g: 0xA7+0x48=0xEF)
(2) nb file: 0x000001FB: short value + 0x48
(3) patch FLASHDRV.DLL inside the XIP section to validate all NAND blocks... not even sure I could do it again...

... dont know what happens if you flash a ExtROM on 0.76... but I suppose nothing
This means I need to extract the patched FLASHDRV.DLL from a big storage ROM to simplify things.

Hi ervius, i'm netuser's son and i'm trying to cook my own rom ;).

With my father's help i've tried to create a simple rom with HTC Home 1.0, but after i've made the packages and i've cooked the rom, it doesn't appear in the p3600 home.

I've tried to search files in the \windows directory and they exists, what i've to do?

This is what i've done:

1-Created the packages with the program "packages creator 5.5.exe" (i selected to run in under "Esecuzione automatica").

2-Cooked OS file using "buildos+package_tools-2.8-b1.exe", with the packages i made at the first point.

3-Cooked the rom using "nbhtool_trin.exe" and then i flashed it into my trinity.

After the reset i see all the files i need in the \windows directory, but not the HTC Home in my p3600 interface.

Thanks for help and sorry for my english, i hope you'll understand what i've done ;)

Sorry that was a typo it is irda_lang_0409 (english)! Also I did preserve SYS\VM from original Dopod Should be like this below.

I gave up figuring out the problem above. I redit everything from scratch this time on an XP box and it worked. I did a binary compare of some of the bins and found them to be different. Not sure if this was a Vista issue or something else but I read on a forum someone said they were getting strange results with G'Reloc in Vista...though it's worked for me before.

Now I have another problem. I added a few more packages to sys and oem and did a buildos. When I flash the device the packages aren't there, as are the registry changes, dsm files ect. When I look at the buildos log, I see they are being processed and rgu files are being imported. When I look at the new dump directory all the files are there. ImgfsToDump shows they are being added but when I flash, they aren't there????

Do you know what the cause of this would be?

you can make all packages into one and name the big package like you want:
created dump\ folder, you can execute all commands you want, inserting, modifying or deleting them into "createrom.bat", that is executed hidden, but you can see what appen in my buildos program!!!!

I've used a device with 6.1 beta and it's absolutely unusable. Exchange sync not working, problems with html email parsing and very slow..
M$ people are releasing a new beta every few days. As to me is not useful to work with these beta releases, your build 20k is the best rom ever done for trinity.

ok, folks, I'm preparing a new version of my buildos, added:
"add2config.txt", is like initflashfiles.txt for packages, but it goes to integrate strings and command inside "config.txt", there is a package aprticulary that need this plugin, ftouchflo, tha tto works well, need added command into config.txt, and when make a vanilla rom, Ihad to remeber ever to modifi "config.txt" and delete the extra commands for ftouchflo package, with this addin, only have to deflag the package from buildos, and config.txt remain good and no more missing files or lnk message on startup!! ;)

yes, stratos, theese version of buildos, work only with new bepe's kitchen, for 6.1 WM, if you eant cook a older version like 6.0, you have to respect new structure of bepe's kitchen for WM6.1

howto use for real xip porting:
use new os.nb and extract xip with "extract_xip.bat"
you have 2 folders then:
xip\
and
dump\
copy and paste them into the explorer hust opened clicking on buildos' "new Xip" button...
so now in that folder (New_Xip\) you have 2 folder: dump\ and xip\ (from extract_xip.bat ececution)
close the folder...
and click on "port it" button , follow mesageboxes and enjoy!!! ;)

ok, I understand, but the problem is that is not so clear the new structure, if I try to kook a rom previously prepared with buildos 3.0 i have always a runtime error

the structure of this new kitchen is more similiar to previous, changes:
you have os.nb.payload instead of os.nb into Rom\ folder;
you have all modules instead all files into \xip folder;
you have new tools onto \tool folder, but that I posted hoinned to my buildoss!!!
P.S.: pasyload is obtained shifting os.nb using dos promps and executing ***nbsplit -hermes os.nb***
now you have os.nb.payload (and os.nb.extra, not need it!)
for modules into xip...
you have to use extract_xip.bat, you find it into xda search....
and after use it you have:
dump\ folder and \xip folder, only copy all modules (module=folder whit the name of the exe or dll that contains: imageinfo.bin, imageinfo.txt and S0XX) into \xip folder of bepe's 6.1, and remains files, rgus, dsms, hv, and .... don't remember now..., and you have old kitchen (WM6.0 or WM5.0) with same structure of new bepe's 6.1 Kitchen easy easy.... or not??? ;)

not extract_xip.bat, you have to search into xda for: "build_xip.bat"
and you need modules into \xip folder and some dsm rgus and hv, certificate file and someelse...

no, you have to use extract_xip.bat, then you have 2 folders:
dump\ and xip\
you have to put them into new_xip folder just created and opened by my buildos, so you have:
new_xip folder that contains:
dump\ and xip\ folder...
then you click on "port it" by my buildos...
follow instructions, make your choice and it will do all for you, it recognizes the xip packages to import from the ones that doesn't to be imported (if from different device!)

problem solved:
I thinked that the dsm that contains files from oemxipkernel (the package that mustnt be ported if the xip is from different device!) was ever the same, with ever same name, but isn't... so, now buildos analyze all dsm into xip part, and when find the right, goes to port xip modules and files needed!!! ;)

ok, in Rom\ folder you have finally:
romhdr.bin file;
os.nb.payload file;
xip\ folder;

if you have all, and downloaded and installed this packet:

and have error from:
imgfstonb.exe or imgfsfromnb.exe
you have to modify the parameters into files.bat where it calls insert.exe -i .......

if you don't have one or more files/folders into Rom\ folder of kitchen you have to insert it.
for romhdr.bin, it was created by last dumprom.exe by bepe, that doesn't works on kaiser roms, so no romhdr.bin but you can try to use the one that you have from trinity WM6.1 kitchen, but I don't know if it works then...

to enable/disable packages by default, try to click on it, in buildos windows, with right mouse's button, a context menu appear and you can choice a lot.... ;)

Wait the extract... You will get a pop-up "Done"
A file "Windows.nb" will be created.

Execute "packagetools2.0b1/buildos+package_tools-2.0b1.exe"
Choose on the bottom "Open .NB file" option
Choose from the top "Open"
Choose ROM/Windows.nb
Wait few minutes...
You will get the following in ROM directory:
dump
dump_MemoryMap.txt
imgfs.bin
Windows.nb
Windows.nb.dump
Windows.nb.extra
Windows.nb.payload

and then on the same progam (same window)
On top click "Build packages"
You will be asked "Do you want to import XIP" --> ??? (I choosed Yes)
Wait few minutes.
Now you have the steps finished.


Now on the top fo to the 3rd menu (Build OS)
On the bottom "Load"
Choose "ROM\ROM\Windows.nb.dump"
You will see in the Windows the packages will be inserted in the ROM
Activate on the bottom *Create also OS-NEW.NB"
Then on the top click "GO"

Wait few minutes... It is DONE.
You will get in "ROM\ROM\Windows.nb.dump"
the file "os-new.nb"
This is your new ROM.

You can recreate the .nbh using nbhtool_mio.exe (NB to NBH)
The file RUU_signed.nbh then will be generated.

PS: I did not have the Brief to flash the actual ROM. As i did not know if it is the correct way to do :D

First of all I must say that I'm trying this tutorial, but I have a TOUCH.....

When I'm running the second step:


"2) package tools analize the dumped os windows.nb and tell about sys and oem versions, more it creates packages of dumped rom, and insert all files into the 2 system directory "oem" and "sys" with button (menu) "build packages""

I'm not able to hit "build packages"... Why?
The program creates the file "windows.nb", but I'm not able to hit build packages...


Other problem step 3:

"3) nbdumper from tadzio, it is the important tool togheter bepe kichen, with it you are able to dump "windows.nb"
put windows.nb into the folder, dos prompt and write:
nbdump windows.nb (then press enter...)
in few minutes you have inside also the directory named: windows.nb.dump, iside you can find all files that will be in rom on your device"



I haven't found "nbdumper" from the first post... I tried to search it, but it doesn't work correctly... Maybe this is the wrong one... Anyone could post the direct link to this app?

packtage contains all the Dll exe file. Then rgu and dsm.
Once you to create your packtage you put them in the folder and build packtage it will merge with the Rom in option build tools. explication for kouros Is good

I have been using ervius' excellent tools to cook ROM's for hx4705, i607, and 8925 with no issue, perhaps the base ROM you are using has had the .dsm files stripped from it, and thus you cannot split it into packages?
