Hi all.
I'm looking for some GPS software that will work on my MDA Touch. I've asked customer services at Route66 and TomTom, but both say their software is not compatible with the Touch.
I've read here and other sites that some people have no trouble with TomTom, while others do.
Please can anyone post here what software they successfuilly use?
Thanks.

hi,
now I use tom tom 6 and iGo . it works very well with a generic bluetouth antenna. Take care with tom tom...you must copy it into the main directory of your sd card. good luck!

TomTom and IGo both work for me.
Does IGo eat up much more RAM than TomTom?
Any problems with low memory or that it is slow?
I think about to get IGo because it has some very nice features.
I'm also wondering if the new IGo8 Version will run - I think it will use lots of memory because of the 3D view and textures on the buildings.
Got anybody hands on the IGo8?

Hi,
I've been using TomTom6 & iGo on my previous pocket PC phone (HTC Hermes) and both were doing just fine while TomTom was a bit more accurate in choosing his routing or giving vocal instructions and iGo's interface was nicer.
Now that I switched to the Touch which has half the speed of the Hermes and less internal memory, my choice definitely goes to TomTom:
- less RAM needed (never had a system warning while it's often the case with iGo)
- more fluent and faster interface
- finger only navigation (I mean you never need a stylus in any menus)
- switching from portrait to landscape display (and reverse) without the need to restart TomTom
- starts and stops bluetooth in background automaticaly at software start & exit (unless already on)
- no GPS config needed in WM6 if you own a TomTom GPS mouse
- much more Phone oriented, and non intrusive (i.e. fades away on incoming call, and comes back automatically when call has dropped)
- much quicker startup time (below 10 sec)
- never locks up on map browsing
- etc...
Now, probably, the best is that you make your own experience if you have the opportunity to try both.
These were just my two cents... :)

You need to make sure you have a COM port set for this in the bluetooth setup. On mine, I use Com Port 6 and it works fine with my Q-Starz GPS unit.

I'm using a Garmin GPS 10 with the latest version of Garmin Mobile XT and it works beautifully....
On the down side, although you can download the software for free, I suspect it will only work with a Garmin BT GPS and Garmin Maps both of which are not the cheapest around.

I use Igo My Way 2006 plus with no problem
Before, I used Tomtom6, but from times to times, I ran with the sound off and I had to go through menus to enable it again (more annoying than it seems) PLUS tomtom always rings for speedcams, even if your speed is less than the limit while Igo rings only if you're over the limit..
