I know it's early days so far, but has anyone had any luck finding a really, really good case for this device?

I am now getting quite jealous of the iPhone accessories. Everywhere you look, pda case companies are offering wonderful, bright innovative cases for iPhone, not so The Touch.

In fact, most of the cases I have seen (Noreve, Piel Frama) seem to have a strip of leather covering the logo just above the d-pad, which would impede the Touchflo swipe.

The only one which doesn't seems to be the Proporta, which uses a 'C-Clip' mechanism. However, that looks like the actual clips themselves might damage/scratch the casing. And you can have any colour you like as long as it's black.

Emailed Vaja, and they have no plans for a Touch case. Sena say theirs is in development.

A lot of the cases already on the market seem to ignore the fact that this phone is popular because it is slim, light and small. Nobody wants to add a case that makes it larger and heavier.

Basically I would be happy with a case like the one supplied, but in leather, and preferably a bright colour (helps to find it in a large handbag!).

How much bulk would that add to the touch? I have just put my athena on "hold" but it looks like this would be bulking up again?

If you want a black less bulky case then this one looks OK

I got this one. You can find it on other sites.
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/43139/42781/3338/noreve-tradition-leather-case-htc-touch.html

It is the Noreve tradition leather case  Credit card slot included, and no fidgety clips to deal with. Just magnetic catch. Has detachable swivel belt clip.

Have a look a this one....http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2730&category=51

I have been personally using Krusell cases for over 4 years now and am a great admirer of their quality.I blv they are the only manufacturers to offer a lifetime warranty on their cases.....check it out....

Both the Noreve and the Krusell, and the Piel Frama all seem to have a leather strip covering the HTC logo where Touchflo begins, would that get in the way, and also, the leather 'frame' of the screen, does that impede the fingers only needed aspect of particularly the top two corners?

Noreve really gets in the way of touchflow. I mainly use the case when am out shopping or other outdoor activity so not much of an issue for me. It is either in the pouch and/or in my shirt pocket naked

What's really, really, really annoying is the cases that are being made for the iPhone.

they are vibrant, colourful, young, exciting, different:

http://www.vajacases.com/home/home_en.html

http://www.senacases.com/Brands/Apple-iPhone-Cases;jsessionid=ac112b801f434fe2dd13206944b0b58cc 3e4e40dc7ae.e3eTaxiPc3mTe34Pa38Ta38Nbxf0

http://www.pielframa.com/cases_iphone.htm

What do we get? Black, more black, maybe brown, and a series of cases made by people who have obviously never used a Touch with the Touchflo function, they think it's just another PDA. They haven't noticed the flush screen. They put strips of leather right over the place where Touchflo starts. They put a frame round the screen, so that the edges of the flush screen become unuseable.

They don't seem to realise that this phone is going to appeal to a new set of customers, who may not all be male business types. Rant, rant, rant.

sorry about that, rant finished now and feel much better for it.

I got the vertical flip one and really didnt like it.

First it made the Touch "more big" than i could imagine.

Second, the screen border got "framed" by the case leather and it was more difficult to activate some outter items on the screen.

I think these problems are not particular to the Brando case. Every leather case will have them.

So im thinking in order something like these:

This phone is new to India and not many options are available. I bought this MOBO case with belt clip that fits the Touch perfectly. Features rotating belt clip and magnetic closure. Made of PU/PVC synthetic leather with soft felt covering the bottom front flap. Local price is Rs. 205 (approximately 5.05 USD)

Hi there, I sense your frustration, but the pielframa page shows many different colours available. Sure, there may be problems with Touchflo, but you can't blame them for the colours! Vaja doesn't even seem to have a case for the Touch.

Simon....

the only real 'colours' they are doing are primary blue, red and green. I'm not counting black and brown as colours. They make their own iphone case in turquoise, hot pink and lime green.

Nevertheless I would buy one of these if I didn't think that the use of the device would be largely compromised by the case.

I emailed Vaja, thinking that maybe a case was 'in the pipeline' but no, their reply stated that they had no intention of producing a case for the Touch.

They didn't even suggest that any of their universal cases might be a good fit either. Looking through them, I couldn't see one that would fit properly.

I'm holding out to see what Sena come up with. When I emailed them, they said theirs was still in development. As it was at that stage, I replied pointing out the problems with existing cases, so maybe theirs will be different. Just have to wait and see.

It's just a bit annoying that it appears that if something is produced by HTC it is perceived as 'business-like, boring, safe etc', but a device produced by Apple is perceived as 'trendy, hip, vibrant, exciting' and the cases are a reflection of this. I suppose it's partly down to the manufacturers themselves and the build up they give.

:p No problem, glad you feel better now! I bought a case with the Touch on the weekend, but I don't like it. I will take it back and see if I can get a black (yeah, boring) silicon case in exchange.

Please let us know how you get on with the silicon case, I've heard they used to pick up a lot of dust etc, but look good otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against black cases. I would think it very weird if my husband suddenly acquired a hot pink carry case for his laptop/phone! I would just like the choice. Also, I'd like case manufacturers to get real users to 'test drive' some of these cases before they are launched.

Hi Marisa,

I'm using the silicon case and am generally pretty happy with it. I like the fact that the camera surround, screen and d-pad are recessed by a few mm, now when I place the device on a flat surface there's no risk of contact scratching.

It also gives it a ruggerdized look, perfect for me as I'm not really into hot pink either...!

answering my own question (that could be a bad sign?), I bought one of these and am completely satisfied. Excellent
quality, good solid protective front and back, nice snug fit but easy to get out, magnet closure and effective secure belt clip. The sides allow the head set connection to be attached with the phone still in the case. I am happy with it

Considering how slim the Touch is, I'm considering getting a case that has space for some cards and even some cash, and using it as my wallet. Nothing that appealing has appeared on the market yet, so i think i'll keep waiting, or look into modifying cases for other PDAs

If you are in the UK, Look in ASDA stores at the Digital Camera Cases. They have a small black leather one (with Belt loop rather than the stupid Belt attachments) and they are less than a fiver. Simple Pouch type with a velcro fastening flap.

Its great, I use it for work with no problems, easy to whip out when it rings. Only drawback is you cant close flap properly while the headset is attached, but thats a very small price to pay.

I'm considering getting a couple of spares!

Hi Marisa, I exchanged the crappy belt clip case I bought when I got the phone (it was the belt clip arrangement that I didn't like) for a black silicon case today, fitted it to the Touch, went "Oh, that looks cute, but I'm not sure I like that there's no cutout for the green and red button and the central rocker button, but I can live with that" and promptly put it in my pocket.

5 minutes later, when I pulled it out, it was covered in lint, bits of lolly, dust and bits of tissue. Damn. Oh well. Next. I've now moved back to the slip case supplied until I order something like psionara mentioned.

Blast!!!!!! I was just about to order one! Thanks for the warning.

The silly thing is, if someone made a very plain slip case, just like the supplied one, NOT in Neoprene, which also, to me picks up a lot of 'stuff' and feels sticky. If say, it was in really nice soft leather, and (for me) a bright colour, I would love that. Currently I went into a shop locally called Sanbei who do covers etc for mobile phones (not really a pda shop) and bought a small lime green zip case. Looks just like an old fashioned pencil case and it's suitable. Not ideal, but it will do until either I get chance to look round ASDA (thanks for the tip Corky100!) or Sena comes out with something.

That's what I've done - bought a digital camera case (not from Asda, mind). Have a Lowepro which has a slot for a spare battery and a card.

I also have a Motorola Razr v3i which has very similar dimensions to the Touch and a case I bought off ebay for the Razr fits the Touch perfectly. There's more cases available so there's more choice.

I just got this case from Incipio

http://www.myincipio.com/product/TOUCH_ID-237/T-Mobile_Touch_Case_by_Incipio_fits_HTC-TOUCH_Leather_Horizontal_Pouch_Carrying_Case_-_Charcoal_Grey.html

From the pictures, it looks as though it fits the Touch, but if you look closely, you can see that the phone is actually Photoshopped in. No big deal, right? It's jjust an "enhanced" product shot, right? Wrong, this case does not come even close to fitting the Touch. It comes with a paper insert showing a picture of an iPhone, so I suspect that it was rebadged so that they could sell a product "compatible" with the Touch. Stay away, stay far, far away.

There's a hard metal case now available for the HTC Touch. It has a belt clip on the back.

crap. Doesnt fit well at all? I liked that case when I was looking around, for when I get the Sprint HTC touch.

hey guys.. just got this silicon case.

its nice. Doesnt have that cheap feel like other silicon cases. has beltclip and handstrap included. and the best thing about it is.. the cover in the DPAD is protected, and not cut like other cases, which makes it easier to use.

i also bought this case. it is of a very good quality.

Easy to access the PDA, The magnetic car docking system looks nice, but I'm not sure the Touch is well protected :(

I have bought one of this for my HTC Touch. Case is nice and elegant, and I think it protects enough the device. Only three points I have already written about to proporta:
- The lateral supports are too small, the device can move (not much indeed)
- They stick a stupid add about device repairing or something. When you unstick it, the black paint (in my case) is damaged. No solution.
- The magnet to close the case is too small. Sometimes you must try several times until it gets actually closed.

Besides, it has no pockets for memory cards. My fault, I realized only when I received it.

Sorry for my english.

Greetings,

EasyCoder

EasyCoder,

That link claims the case does have "Secure internal MMC/SD memory card storage"

Perhaps they changed it after you ordered or their add is wrong and perhaps you can return it for a refund?

If you are looking for a pouch as the one that comes with the phone, but leather and thin, the only thing I have come across is this http://www.thepocketsolution.com/PSI-42088.html

They also have the same one with an integrated belt clip, as well as a horizontal one.

I'm surprised that some of the likes of Vaja, Sena etc. haven't made a nice leather pouch as Sena's ones for the iphone (I think both don't even have any case for it), considering that it is the best selling HTC phone ever (1m units or so).

I have the Sprint (CDMA) Touch and I understand that fitted cases for the other Touch phones don't fit it. I am particularly looking for something like Boxwave's flex skin (which I am told doesn't fit my phone). Does any one know of anything? Thanks.

Recently purchased this case on ebay (black version):

http://cgi.ebay.com/Silicone-Case-White-Protector-for-HTC-Touch-P3450-Elf_W0QQitemZ130176401686QQihZ003QQcategoryZ15036Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's designed for the HTC Touch (GSM), however it fits my Sprint touch like a glove, very thin, only issue is the camera mirror, speaker, and headset speaker, which are not aligned as this case fits the GSM version.

Since it's silicon, it's easy to do some surgical alterations with an x-acto knife and whoalla... it now fits my Sprint Touch and the price is right!

If you like the thin nature of silicon cases, this one works well on the cheap!

I have it and its fine. Protects the Touch very well, but does add thickness to the overall size.

My preferred case is http://www.beyzacases.com/cat-htc-touch-p3450-skinsr-leather-sleeves.cfm by beyzacases. I bought the black croc leather. Amazing fit and quality. The best IMO.

Hi all,

When I bought my Touch it came with a boxwave leather case ... and the case works fine. It's not too big, and the material feels nice in hand (well it's leather ...) The only problem with it, is the leather cover comes up to the bottom of the d-pad, so that press 'down' on the d-pad is a little tricky. The edge of the leather gets in the way and you have to use your finger nail to hit it.

So I'm thinking about a silicone case ... I had one with my last phone (imate JAM) and other than having to wash the dust off every month or so, it didn't add any size to the phone and offers protection against scratches, and some protection against falls.

I look at all these silicone cases on ebay though and I dunno what to look for ... how can you tell a good one from a bad one? Also, is there a difference for a Sprint (CDMA) unit and a GSM unit as far as silicone cases go?

Do the silicone cases fit in the OEM Sprint pouch...?That would depend on each case, how much tolerance it has, but the CDMA Touch is definitely thicker than the GSM Touch, which is what most accessories are designed for.

Does anybody who has the Sprint version know if they will fit...I just want another source of protection and would like to use my pouch/holster..

I bought the krussell case and its much lower quality then pervious ones. I won't be buying krussell again.
I think piel frama, proporta and bugatti are the current best. With pdair a good outsider.

I switched from my boxwave leather case to a plastic crystal case this week and I just love it. The boxwave leather case is made of very high quality, but the padding made the phone pretty thick, and the leather hides the appearance of the phone which is too bad for such a nicely designed phone.

Since switching to the crystal case, the phone is slimmer and looks much, much nicer. And getting better protection too!

Agree with you on the Krussell. Just got mine in the mail. It sucks  The case is too big and the fliptop cover does not go over the Touch snugly, so there is some gap between the screen and the fliptop..

I have the PDAir silicone case and i'll stick to that.
