rom upgrade via sd card ?

i have a problem on xda2 i cannot get into bootloader mode (maybee damage to action button i dont know)
also it will not sync with pc
keeps coming up with an usb not recognised error

is there any other way to upgrade to 2003 se /

ok sorry 2 double post but i sorted the problem of action button ( took apart and used a lil acetone under button ) and its sorted now , but im stioll getting the usb not recognised in active sync 3.8 and 4.2
is there any drivers i can install ?
