Similar to the problem some Hermes users have
(see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324)
I am facing the same issue on my Wizard using WM6 with my 2GB Sandisk miniSD card.
This is the problem:
1. once auto-suspending to standby mode files and folders on the SD card cannot be accessed anymore
2. folders are not listed correctly anymore (folder structure and files seems to be corrupted)
3. capacity of the Storage Card would shown as fully used although it is not
4. once SD card ejected and re-inserted won't be detected anymore
5. only after soft reset the SD card as well as the folders and files would be shown and accessible again
6. however, this problem only happens with the different WM6 roms but not with any WM5 rom
7. also IPL/SPL and radio version seem not having any effect/influence on that problem
As soon as I install any version of WM5 (in combination with any IPL/SPL or radio version) the SD card will work again in the usual way - e.g. "hot"-eject and re-insert works just fine.
I changed the following registry setting:
HKLM\drivers\SDcard\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_C lass\DisablePowerManagement
Value = 0 (instead of 1)
The result is: it helped not to corrupt the listing of the folders and files on SD Card after re-activating from standby so structure and folder can be seen and opened (so point 2 from above solved) but files still cannot be opened.
Anyone having similar problems on the Wizard?
Anyonre having an idea for solution?
Again, SD card works as usual as soon as I step down to any WM5 rom.
Cheers!

Not sure why it's doing that, but did you try backing up the card while in WM5 or in a card reader and then reformatting the card to fat32 and seeing if that solves the issue? I spend way too much time on here reading almost all of the new posts and the only people that seem to have the problems that you're experiencing are people that are using 4 Gb cards so it may be that your card is going bad possibly. Reformatting in fat32 though seems to help with the 4Gb cards though sometimes.

Xeno1,
thanks for your answer.
Yes, the first thing I did was reformatting the card with FAT32 (also a trial with FAT16). No luck.
Actually I was thinking the same that the card might be not good (or even a fake) as the card is (newly) bought here in PR China (I am located in China at the moment).
But then I found the thread (as referred to above) in the Hermes section where some people having quite the same issue (symptoms showed up with upgrade to WM6 while no issues at all using WM5). I also tried the different proposals from there without any success.
Not tried yet is the proposed work-around by changing to a Kingston 1GB card (Japanese made version). So I may want to try that.
Strange thing is that my Wizard shows two problems which are quite rare for Wizards while they appear more often with Hermes (second problem is a dead WIFI after my provider change from Chinese WM5 rom to English WM5 rom for me).

You might just try a different 2 Gb card. They're cheap enough and very few people seem to have problems with them in wizards at all. You could even try returning the one you have since most of them have a lifetime garauntee on them anyway and get a new one and see if it does the same thing and then try the 1 Gb card if it does.
I can't help you with the wifi problem though, I've been working with computers since before they even had home computers and never gotten around to setting up a wifi network until 2 days ago.

Xeno1,
thanks again.
OT:
I only remember the old AppleII days >25yrs ago ;) though I was little kid then.
I mentioned the WIFI only to illustrate the big picture (assuming the problems might be related). What I learned from another (Hermes) thread in this regard is that it is about corrupted data in the EEPROM. (The interesting thing is 3 other colleagues of mine got the same problem with their Wizards after having the provider changed the ROM from Chinese to English. But it doesn't bother them as it bothers me though.)
Back to topic:
As for the SD card issue I will check with the cards my colleagues are using to see whether it is a card problem or a driver problem tomorrow at work.
Cheers!

Today I checked with a 1GB Kingston (don't know though whether it is the Japanese version). It has the same problems as the 2GB Scandisk. Cannot detect when "hot"-inserted.
On the other hand the 2GB Scandisk worked on the Wizard of my colleague (WM5) right away without any issues. (And this Wizard also has the WIFI problem).
So, it is quite the similar to the problem of some Hermes users I mentioned in my first posting and it seems to be a problem about the drivers in WM6??
Any ideas?

Did you try any other versions of WM6 than NBD V8.1? If you haven't, you might try flashing a different version and see if it still does it.

Xeno1,
I tried some different ones before so I thought it is about the WM6.
Tonight I did some more extensively testing and this is the result:
Not working with hot plug n play of the SD card:
NBD V7.9-NBD V8.1
XDA Mobile6r2 and 6r2a
BlackDiamond1.1
Plug and Play does work:
XDA Mobile6
BlackDiamond1.0
OCTAIVOI v3.4

Did you try with the Jaguar Build?

Well, I'm glad you got it partially fugured out anyway. I've used XDA mobile 6 before but since then I've cooked my own ROMs. I'll have to do some looking in to it and see if I can figure out what the differences are between the working and non working ROMs and see if I can't figure out the cause.

Xeno1,
thanks again for your help.
I continued testing with the different ROMs:
Not working with hot plug n play of the SD card:
NBD V7.9-NBD V8.2 (later one, both Crossbow and TouchFlo)
XDA Mobile6r2 and 6r2a
BlackDiamond1.1
Plug and Play does work:
XDA Mobile6
BlackDiamond1.0
OCTAIVOI v3.4
TNT 4.0
Nottoosmart,
tried to download. Couldn't go through ....

I was formating the mini SD card (1GB) and my wizard went to stand by and didn't woke up. I held the power button for some time then my wizard restarted and now it doesn't detect my SD card. Anyone knows how to fix this problem.
Thanks in Advance!

If you were in the middle of formatting and your phone went in to standby then it probably didn't finish formatting the card, that's why it doesn't detect it. Probably the best thing to do is to put in to a card reader on your computer and reformat it using windows. You can also probably put it in to a digital camera and have it format it for you also if you don't have a card reader but using windows would be better.

Trying now to find out the differences among the various OS to help me to understand why on my Wizard the SD card works with some ROM and does not with others.
SD card does NOT work properly:
NBD V7.6 - V7.8 -> OS 5.2.1413
NBD V7.9 - NBD V8.3 -> OS 5.2.1437
XDA Mobile6r2 and 6r2a -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
BlackDiamond1.1 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
OCTAIVOI v3.6+; V4.0 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
WRCX V1, V2, V3 -> Core: 5.2.1437.17944.301
WM6Ti -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
SD card works just fine:
NBD V7.4 -> OS 5.2.1413 ???
XDA Mobile6 -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
BlackDiamond1.0 -> same as V1.1??? (OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1)
OCTAIVOI v3.4 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
TNT 4.0 -- base: 15341, 15342, and 1413 ( with some of 1437 apps) and no compressed dlls
TNT 5.0
This is what I found out so far regarding the XM6 versions:
XM6 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. One major difference between the original Release and Release 2 is that in this version the ROM, SYS, and OEM folders originated from the Ingenetics Kitchen work by mattk_r (where the original release of XM6 was a mismash of Faria ROM kitchen OEM packages, and ones I built).
Another thread about the different OS builds does not seem to help me in this case though having very interesting information from mfrazzz:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316447
So I hope zoki, mfrazzz and dr.dot can enlighten me about the difference of the build of the various versions ot their respective ROMs. :p :)
Xeno1, have you been able to find out something? :o
Cheers!

Have been trying all the ROMs listed above yet don't see any pattern what causes the SD card to work properly or not.
Could it be something with the compressed DLLs?

Seems the approach from its right not to use compressed files helps to avoid the problem ... so I am using TNT V5 with HTC home now ... thanks a lot, its right!

When upgrading to TNT.1437 I found the same issue again, so this is the current "compatibility list" for my Wizard:
SD card does NOT work properly:
NBD V7.6 - V7.8 -> OS 5.2.1413
NBD V7.9 - NBD V8.3 -> OS 5.2.1437
NBD V9.1
XDA Mobile6r2 and 6r2a -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
BlackDiamond1.1 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
OCTAIVOI v3.6+; V4.0 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 5.0 -> OS 5.2.1921 Build 18508.0.7.0
WRCX V1, V2, V3 -> Core: 5.2.1437.17944.301
WM6Ti -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
TNT.1437 -> ".. based on 1437 build, but using OEM Drivers as modules .."
SD card works just fine:
NBD V7.4 -> OS 5.2.1413 ???
XDA Mobile6 -> OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
BlackDiamond1.0 -> same as V1.1??? (OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1)
OCTAIVOI v3.4 -> OS 5.2.1437 Build 17944.0.3.1
TNT 4.0 -- base: 15341, 15342, and 1413 ( with some of 1437 apps) and no compressed dlls
TNT 5.0 -> 5.2.1620 build 18125
Anybody has a clue about the reason? Seems like some drivers' issue !?!?:confused:

I am having the exact same problem. i haven't had the problem with any rom up until now, and I've used lots (usually NBD or TNT). Yesterday I upgraded to TNT .1437 and the problems started. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to stick with this rom for at least a little while!
