I read with most new ROM images that they should have problems with wifi connecting. I think this is a misunderstanding.

The universal can connect to 54mbit networks only at 11mbit speed. it can connect to WPA secured networks only with TKIP encryption.

Not with WPA2 or AES! i think a lot of people here make this mistake!

so please test this and confirm my findings

If I remember my WiFi networking, you can configure a fast network (54 or 108Mb/s) to allow slower devices or not to.

So it can depend on the network.

In theory, yes, you can connect an 11Mb/s device to a 54Mb/s network. Mine works like that.

latest WM6 images fail to connect to hotspot with WPA (TKIP) secured. there is a small trick to bypass it (shutdown and start the device).

So ... I have a D-Link 2100AP - up to 108Mb/sec. I connect with notebook at 54MB/sec. WPA-TKIP
With Universal, at 5-11MB/sec - everything is ok.
This is with JWright 2.02.02 ROM and radio 1.18.
But, for example, with Indra latest wm6 rom, don't work. I find the AP with signal Strenght of 81%, I select WPS-PSK, TKIP, provide the password, but nothing
